The food, what can I say, it was all tasty, generous portions and reasonable. I had the lunch special, chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes (skin still on), fried okra, roll and sweet tea. The other special was homemade meatloaf and we were a little bit late and it was all gone! My wife had soup and 1/2 sandwich and she bragged about both of them for a long time. Another one of their signature dishes is a spinach and artichoke burger so that will have to be for our next trip. Great place to meet friends in the region for a draft beer or a meal. They're only open for lunch and supper on Thursday through Saturday, but also open for lunch only for Sunday and Wednesday. The menu is half of what it used to be and they are focusing more as a music venue. Great facilities inside and a massive covered outdoor area for concerts, dancing or just enjoying the moment. The owners are friendly and no-nonsense, and the service is a great representation of Texas hospitality. I miss the pizza and other favorite menu items, but my favorite microbrews were introduced by this place! Very kid-friendly: reminds me of a Texas family dancehall of my past. The husband and wife team who are the owners, not seen wearing masks the entire time of my visit during a very busy lunch rush or during any of my visits. Servers wearing masks that are pulled below their nose and mouths. Can't say enough about the food!! Made from scratch French fries, onion rings, melt in your mouth chicken fried steak bites, grilled sirloin bites to die for!! Buffalo chicken pizza- outta of this world!! Been several times- food is amazing and service is top notch. If you are concerned about co-vid, might want to avoid this place till things calm down. Home made mash potatoes came with both meals and we added fried okra. Service and food was outstanding. All the batter used on the food was unique to each item. I went for a family gathering. Service was subpar considering that it wasn't busy at the time we arrived. Several time we asked for drinks and did not receive them. We would try to place an order and our server was nowhere to be found. When we got the food, it was just ok. We ordered brisket nachos, brisket Mac and cheese, and the kids ordered a cheeseburger to share since it was plenty big for the two of them. The drinks were just ok. Margarita tasted like margarita mix. Beers took so long to arrive that they weren't cold. The band was entertaining but there were signs saying that by order of the governor dancing is not allowed. I appreciated the outdoor space as it was large and there was plenty of room to spread out. There is a sign on the front for stating that masks are not required to enter the restaurant. We had to walk through the restaurant to gain access to the outdoor area. Maybe people in this area are used to that but I am not from around here and was unaware that this was a thing. We wore masks until we reached our table outside. I wouldn't make the drive to come here again but if you're local, it's probably a good hangout. read more

What a cool place. My group meet up in Bellville after my step daughter's bridal pictures were taken in rural Austin County. My in-laws were headed back to Temple while we were headed back to Montgomery County. So we looked up places to eat that were in that area where we could grab a late lunch. That is how we stumbled upon this place. The setting is 5 stars. Such a cool old building with loads of character. Good crowd of people for a Saturday early afternoon. Although we were only there for food, it looks to be a fantastic place to visit to enjoy some live music and have some drinks. The food exceeded expectations. While the setting was attractive and enough by itself to pull us in, I really just expected frozen food service quality food. My group had burgers, chicken strips, salads, and fried ribeye sandwich. It all was freshly prepared and appeared to be homemade food. The fries were from fresh potatoes with the skins still on, the burgers were wonderful, the chicken strips were hand battered, and the salad was great. The ribeye sandwich was also fantastic. It was better than my expectations. I will add that it is largely fried foods which was on point for us. I did see some home cooking type offerings as well but they were mainly limited to their daily specials. It is an old music hall dive kind of place so fried stuff was kind of the expectation. I can't image people expecting something different from this type of place. The service was very friendly albeit a bit slow. We were not in a rush so it presented no problems for us. An owner/manager stopped by and made small talk with us which we enjoyed. We enjoyed our stop here and are looking ahead to visit on an evening to check out the live music. read more

I was a little uncomfortable in the environment, was passing through the town on business and stop in for a quick lunch. Boy was I surprised, only black person in there on that day, felt like everyone had there eyes on me. So I didn't want to make it obvious and run out the door so I sucked it up and sat down. I ordered the Cheeseburger and my husband had the Ribeye Steak Bites and we both enjoyed our meals very much!! My hamburger patty was thick with great flavor, it was amazing! Awesome place to end your day after stomping around Brenham. It has a great layout with indoor and outdoor seating so you can escape the Texas heat if you need to. They have live music a lot of the nights which adds to the laid back and fun atmosphere. On the Saturday we visited a lot of the tables were reserved for the live music but we were able to snag a table inside quickly. The service was quick. Our waitress got our orders and our drinks got to our table right away. We started off with fried pickles and fried mushrooms. The fried pickles were a bit sweet mixed in with the tangy vinegar taste of the pickles. I preferred the fried mushrooms which were extremely hot when they came out to the table, so be careful! Our food followed pretty quickly especially for such a busy night. I had the BLT with french fries. A classic sandwich they definitely did not mess up with plenty of bacon and not too much mayo. The french fries were a bit soggy for my taste. I tried their onion rings and should have ordered those! One of the best parts was the Kenney sauce which was like a thousand island/horseradish sauce that I ended up dipping all of my fries in. Attended a concert there last night, it was served with dinner. Let's start with the dinner was excellent it was turkey and dressing is probably some the best turkey I've ever had and the dressing was great and the rest side for a very good. I during the concert you had a server fill your drink orders so you did not walk around and disturb other people ,my drink never went empty. In this weird world it is so nice to have a business do what they're supposed to do and not blame everything on shorthanded or Covid I can't wait to go back. This is one of those places that will be on every Texans to-do list in the near future. Been there about 4 or 5 times now. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, and the staff is great. Although I've yet to sit in on a live performance, they have have a really good music line up every week. If you can consistently accomplish those things in Texas, you will do just fine. Now the specifics: APPETIZERS, Corn Nuggets and Boudin Balls are a must and the boneless wings are good too. STAPLES, Burgers are great and the chicken tenders are really good too, get the onion rings(the fries are really good too though). From what I've seen go by, I don't think a bad plate comes outta that kitchen. STAFF, Clay is as good as it gets. Down to earth, gets it done, and for a younger guy he brings that old school Southern hospitality. As for the rest of the staff, there right on his heels, just didn't catch their names. Use to be a big fan and liked to take friends and family when they visited us. Things went downhill in our opinion so, we stopped going. We heard they were doing better so, decided to give them another chance. Mistake and, we won't go again. Overpriced and mediocre food at best. When we asked for onion rings instead of fries with 2 of our meals, the waitress said "there's an up-charge". OK, no problem. A few additional bucks. NOPE! $11 EACH!!! That's not an up-charge! That's an appetizer charge! Be honest with your customers! Don't try to sneak it past them. If you're going to charge $11 for OR's, tell me, AND give me my fries too! RIDICULOUS! And, they were barely warm when we got them in their little, tiny basket! More than $70 for 3 to eat basically fast food. Anyway, KS, good food is what made you popular. Kenny store has good food, great atmosphere and great bends. But... beware if you order a mixed drink and the bar tender screws up you are not going to be taken care of. Example I ordered a simple Gin & tonic, I received a gin and club soda. To a gin drinker this is nasty. So they asked if I wanted another drink, I had only taken a sip. I replied sure, what any good restaurant would do. But when I received the bill they charged me for both drinks! One I drank and one I returned. Apparently managements police?
