Bait & Switch... ...or Sketchy. I can't decide which title to use. Both apply. I needed a spare key for a 2012 Honda Accord, so I called up The Keyless Shop (co-located with Sears in Frederick) and asked how much for a replacement key. I was quoted $65, which was a good deal. And I confirmed that included cutting a new key and programming the remote. So, I sent my daughter to get a key made and the guy told her $125. She called me while there and I told her to ask about the $65 that I was quoted. While on the phone with the line open, he raised the price to $150. When she said, "You just told me $125", he got an attitude and told her it was $150. (BTW, even the price on the company's web page states $75 for Hondas: "Most Japanese vehicles (Toyota remotes, Lexus keys, Nissan remotes, and Honda remotes) most remotes are $75 programmed to your car.") This is such appalling business behavior, I'm stunned. And the fact it is sharing space with Sears adds another nail to Sear's coffin. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I had a keyless remote done for my wife's car. Paid $125 and was pleased. That was until 2 weeks later when the remote died, so I took it back up there and the guy looks at it and says, do you have the receipt? I said I was just up here 2 weeks ago, so he took it and I guess changed the battery. Again worked for a a few weeks, then as I am 45 minutes from my house, it dies again. I had to use AAA to tow the vehicle back to my home and I go back up to the shop, again, do you have the receipt. Granted I got this done the same day I bought tires at Sears next door. The guy knew who I was and said that he might have to replace it with a new one but needed a receipt. A waste of money. I would have recommended this place but not now nor ever. I should have just taken it to the dealer and paid the extra money for quality. read more

DON'T DO IT!!! kevin is nice at first, very engaging, seems like he knows his stuff and cares. but...then, after he's taken all your info that he asked you to text to him, like your insurance card for the vin number of the card, and your license, and he promises that he will call first thing saturday morning when he will be coming out to the job, CRICKETS!!! i've called him 3 times this am and straight to vm i go. i'm sure this has happened to a lot of people. his reviews are terrible. here, he has five 1 star reviews out of 7! how the f*ck does this guy stay in business?!?!??? he either really gets the job done right and that person loves him, or he totally drops the ball, and it seems like the latter is more common an experience than the former. the jekyll and hyde of the keyless/remote car business. read more

They made a post on facebook stating they were cheaper then the dealerships and quoted prices. I was initially interested as I need 2 keys made but wrote a reply to their lie about being cheaper as follows and was banned from their fb for calling them out. Welp ya lost my buisness and everyone I know thanks! :) My comment "That's not cheaper. Mines a 2015 Chevy laser cut key and at Fitzgerald (Gaithersburg) it was $50.00 they had it in stock and was done on the spot. All the other dealerships wanted $125.00-$150.00 to send it off and do it. Also watch for any place telling you they need to program it to the car. A simple youtube search will show you how and save you the extra $100.00+ in labor. All i had to do was put my old key in and turn it to acc then take it out and turn the new one to acc and then try the locks and it was programed. Also look online alot of times you can just purchase a new shell and put the internals in it." read more

Bought their line they were cheaper than dealer. What a mistake. After two visits since they ordered the wrong key finally got what I ordered. Since I was told it was nearly the same price to get two remote fobs I went along with the recommendation. BIG Mistake. Used the one with no issues, several weeks later used second with no luck. Bought new Battery, still no luck. Went back to key shop and was told it wad likely a programming issue. Was told it would be $50. To program. Tried to explain it was from them and was laughed at. (Literally), "owner" said unless I had paper receipt I was out of luck. Asked if they could check their records and was told they kept no records, must have receipt in paper version. Think IRS should check their books. Seemed really nice till they were asked to sand behind their work. In long run cost more and 5 Times the hassle as the dealer. What a disappointment. read more
