Unspeakably rude. My 80 year old mother and I had to sleep in my car after the guy who is supposed to help us literally hung up on me and refused to help. Absolutely horrible person. When I heard that it would be an hour before they could get to us, I did mention that I would call back immediately if I found someone who could help us sooner, and that was when the conversation took a turn and the person who I was speaking to- who is actually the owner! (which is even more reason to never do business with them) became rude and refused to help us- hanging up on me. After calling several other locksmith companies, none of which could help us at all, I called back and opened my end of the conversation with these exact words: "PLEASE don't hang up on me! I really need your help. I understand that you need me to commit..." but before I could even finish my sentence, I was rudely cut off with a FLAT OUT REFUSAL to help. Did I swear at you...yes I did, but let's be crystal clear- you did NOT refuse me service because I swore at you. I only swore at you after you flat out refused to help me though you obviously COULD help me. I couldn't believe that anyone would be so heartless. I explained that my 80 year old mother was flying home in the morning and all of her "stuff" was locked in my apartment. He did not care. We called or went to a dozen hotels between Frederick, Brunswick and as far as Charles Town WV. Apparently finding a hotel room was as impossible as finding a locksmith. There was not an available room in Frederick Saturday 10/15/22. I have never needed a locksmith before. Had I known that it was a cardinal sin to mention calling another person to see if they could be there sooner, I would have kept it to myself. BTW, your competitor, Dave's Locksmith, have me a list of several other places to call when he couldn't be there for a couple of hours so it is not standard protocol in your profession to FREAK OUT at the mention of contacting another provider. Had you given me a chance, I would gladly have committed to paying for any time or inconvenience if I happened to find another, but you were so busy rudely refusing to discuss the matter further that you did not give me any chance to mention that. Thanks to YOU, my mother is now on a plane home in the same clothes she wore yesterday after minimal and uncomfortable sleep. I stand by this negative review. And BTW, the "threat" you refer to was the threat to write a negative review. The two "at length" conversations were exactly 2min 3sec for the first one, where you took all of my information before hanging up on me, and the second one was 1min 27sec, so that was pretty much me begging, you refusing to help, and me swearing at you and promising to write this review. I don't make idle threats. If you are going to refute a negative review, I suggest you refrain from outright lying. Your response is not only condescending mansplaining, it is blatantly inaccurate. read more

Excellent service. I had three locks for storage compartments on my bus conversion that have never worked. I needed a set of keys cut and they got two out of three working fully and the third to fully accept a key. The third one not turning was not for lack of effort. I have never in my life (that I can remember) needed a locksmith. I called with a problem I wasn't even sure locksmiths handle: the door handle to the inside entrance to my garage had come off in my hand. I didn't think I had the right tool to fix it. I described the door handle to the lady that answered the phone and she knew exactly what had happened and told me I needed a tiny Allen wrench to re-install the handle. She even offered to lend it to me at no charge if I didn't have the tool! Luckily, I found the right size wrench in my toolbox. The point is, with this kind of super customer service without being paid for it, I now have Able Locksmiths on my contact list if I ever do need a locksmith again. read more

This morning at 6:00am as I was preparing to leave for work one of my greatest fears came true. I set the alarm, locked the door and left my keys inside the house on the counter. If I had to put it simply, I would just say that you need to use this locksmith. They are responsive - call them and they will be there in a very reasonable time. They are polite and professional - Dave is a great guy and he has went ABOVE AND BEYOND on numerous occasions. They have great prices - I have used them for my business (on many occasions) and for my home. Each time we have needed their services Able Locksmiths have been on site, with the proper equipment and within a short time. Even one time as my business my building owner send his chosen company to come and work on our door, and I called Able. The "other" locksmith's work broke in less than a month. When I called him, he swore at me and told me I broke my own door. He was a lost cause and I couldn't get a refund. Then I contacted Able and they sent out a professional who fixed the other guy's work, knew exactly what to do, charged a reasonable price, and the lock on the door has been working like a charm. My warning to other customers is to be sure to call Able and not trust any other similar sounding company name run by someone trying to profit off of Able Locksmiths good name. I took a fire damaged vintage motorcycle ignition lock to these guys. Since new parts cannot be obtained, I'd bought a good condition used switch. I needed to re-key the used part to accept my old key, which also works the steering and saddle locks on the motorcycle. Took them all of 10 minutes to disassemble the damaged lock, figure out how the thing worked, transplant my old lock tumbler into the working switch, and Bob's yer uncle. Folks were pleasant, and the smith working on my lock was happy to talk bikes while he was fixing mine. Their price was more than fair - and the switch and my 40 year old motorcycle now works like a champ. Ingenuity and good work aren't everywhere. read more

I had been having a problem with a patio door locking mechanism for months. After trying to fix it myself and failing, I finally called Able's. I wish I would have called them right away. I called, and they were at my house within 45 minutes (keep in mind my house is approximately 25 minutes from their office). He did a great all around job and got it fixed same day even though my door is Pella which can be difficult to fix. This is without a doubt the best locksmith in the area.
