I don't often do reviews, however, I couldn't be happier with the work that Dr. Yip and the staff at The Kid's Dentist did and I feel I should share my experience. I came to The Kid's Dentist because of a bad experience with my child's previous dentist. Dr. Yip determined that my child needed a tooth extracted along with some fillings and crowns. It was very overwhelming, the amount of work that needed to be done on such a young child, but Dr. Yip took the time to explain the reasoning behind the treatments and our options on how to proceed. One of the options was the use of general anesthesia and complete the treatment in one sitting while my child was sedated. At first, the use of general anesthesia on such a young child made me nervous. But, Dr. Yip took the time to explain that the risks were minimal and that the ability to get the treatment done in one sitting instead of a possible four would save my child from the "traumatic" experience of multiple trips, shots, and drilling. The entire process only took a few hours and my child recovered quickly. Dr. Yip even followed up with us, after hours, just to check on my child's recovery. The best part... my child still likes going to the dentist and isn't afraid to go see Dr. Yip. The use of general anesthesia was well worth it and I would recommend any parent to strongly consider it as an option for their child's treatment. I highly recommend The Kid's Dentist. My daughter loves going to this dentist. The office is fun and lively and at 6 that is what matters to her. The staff have always been kind and gentle and seem to enjoy the kids. Billing and scheduling is painless. Coffee and massage chairs in the lobby for parents are a nice touch too. Our oldest is scared of the dentist. She won't even sit in the chair, but after what seemed like and hour of coercing her -- she warmed up to the staff. Granted my kids haven't seen any other dentist, but I have to say this place is awesome! I really do wish I had a dentist like this when I was a kid! Growing up, I was one of those tragic stories of patients whose dentist pulled perfectly healthy teeth just so he could charge our insurance. I grew up hating my dentist or anything to do with teeth in general. Now to my amazement, my kids LOVE going to the dentist. There are tons of games for them to play, toys, movies playing in every corner - I sometimes have a hard time taking them home. Not to mention the cool animals (chameleon, fish, gecko) that always make my kids ask for a pet. (My answer is still a firm no). The staff is excellent, especially Dr Yip. He's goofy with the kids and can talk to them about kid stuff so earns their trust quickly. He also seems to make an effort to hire folks who genuinely enjoy being around kids. We see familiar faces every time we come in so the kids are definitely comfortable now. And when they were new and nervous, the staff was very patient and kind. Both kids even had procedures done (preventative fillings on each) which I thought would traumatize them, but they did great! The staff was very gentle, and super quick. They do fabulous work. My kids always look forward to going to the dentist, so I will definitely be bringing in baby #3 as a new patient once she's ready. I would absolutely recommend this place! read more

The WORST pediatric dentist I've taken my kids to. Not only were they short on staff, the hygienist rough with my kids' teeth cleaning (they've been to two other great dentists' offices and never complained), the dentist was a total quack!!! He misdiagnosed both my kids' number of cavities and their X-rays were so illegible, I had to pay for new ones to be taken when we went back to my previous pediatric dentist! Please save your kids the trauma and your money and don't go here. read more

Dr Yip is a great dentist for kids. My grandkids all 4, and great grandkids have been going here for over 24 yrs. They all love him but his billing office is horrible. We sent the 16 yr old in, called three times to pay, they don't have online payment, and never received a return call. We have jobs and cannot call from work, we call when we can. We received a $10 late charge. I have called at least four times about this and they say we never called to pay which is incorrect and I said we can send phone records if they wanted. I asked for Dr Yip to call me and obviously they never gave him the message, just well he does not do the billing. I have left doctor's offices because of their front office incompetence. Expect to pay when you go, give your kids that drive your credit card because they don't return calls and don't have online payment, so you will get charged $10 late fee and will not adjust it off. read more

I am currently job shadowing at "The Kids' Dentist", I have been shadowing since the 13th of September (each shadowing visit is approximately three hours long) and just thought I'd share some of my personal thoughts about my experience there. The design of the office is jungle themed, decorated with animal wall paintings, jungle themed stuffed animals, and even some live reptile pets for kids to see. The clinic is also equipped with video games, toys and movies all aimed for kids. There are TV's mounted on the walls and ceilings of some dental chairs, so kids can play games or watch a movie while receiving dental work. The clinic is very clean and has a very calm atmosphere. Dr. Yip and his staff are very friendly. It was my first time shadowing at this clinic, and I was quite nervous, but Dr. Yip and all of his staff members treated me very well. They are professionals at what they do, and they are passionate about helping children's oral health. They follow medical procedures to the dot, and don't cut any corners. Dr. Yip communicates with children on a level that the child would feel comfortable with. When explaining to parents about his diagnose, he would communicate on a level that most people can understand. If something isn't clear to the parents, he'll be more than happy to explain until it becomes clear. So far, I haven't seen a disgruntle parent about the work Dr. Yip, and his staff does. On the first day of shadowing I was chatting with a parent while their child was getting dental work done, and she told me that Dr. Yip was the best dentist she ever had. At first I was a bit skeptical, but over time of closely following Dr. Yip and his staff, I came to realize that they didn't say it out of politeness, but it was their honest thoughts. Everyone at the clinic there all wants what's best for the kids. Not only do they treat the children, but they would also educate both the parents, and child about preventive care to prevent future issues. To be honest, after seeing all the effort Dr. Yip, and his staff does, I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews at this clinic. I would highly recommend anyone to The Kids' Dentist for their child's dental needs. read more

We have been going to see Dr. Yip for about a year and have not had any issues. The office is clean and modern. The kids enjoy the toys, video games and reptiles. The Dr and staff seemed very attentive. All in all a relatively good experience until now. My 4 year old had to have a couple of cavaties filled so we separated into 2 appts. Seeing as this was her first in depth dental procedure needless to say the intial appt was difficult to say the least. She was super scared and had a hard time especially with the nitrous (which we opted out of) and the mouth prop (which we ended up doing without). After a very long visit we finally made it through and scheduled her followup to complete. Upon arriving for her second visit a different assistant came out to review the plan and during that time I noticed a comment on my daughters chart in caps and highlighted stating the following "The Most Horrible Op". I was a little floored by the comment not because I didn't agree but because it seemed very unprofessional to write a comment like that in a chart. My major concern was now my daughter was labeled as a "problem child" and would be treated "differently" for any other appts we had there. Fortunately she made it through the second appt with flying colors (According to Dr. Yip, as I didn't sit in on the appt because I thought my daughter would do better without me within eyeshot, they did employ a little bit different techniques to help her. Quieter drill and different mouth opening techniques). She didn't cry and was all in all a good patient but now it was too late. Normally I would have probably just let the comment slide but in retrospect thinking back to the initial appt I could see the frustration in the assistants face and mannerisms and I wish I would have just ended the appt and not upset my daughter so much. Sadly I hate moving dentists but I am just not willing to worry every time I take my kids in that they are being talked about or treated differently because of one time when my 4 year old acted like a 4 year old. I will say Dr Yip did follow up and let me know that he met with his staff to review, I just hope other patients have not been "commented" about like this in what I view as such a mean and hurtful way as to cause others to form unnecessary opinions. Granted this is a possibility in any practice I unfortunately experienced here though. I strongly suggest all parents review their charts as well as their childrens to completey understand the level of care they are given. This does not only hold true for Dr. Yip's office but of any medical/dental provider. When asked why I rated the office a 2 the ratings guide stated a 2 as "Meh. I've experienced better" which I have. While a 3 is "A-Ok" which obviously I am not "A-Ok." read more

I was nervous about taking my 2.5 year old there as I know he HATES to have me helping him brush his teeth & fishing in his mouth. I knew the appointment may not be that effective and go that well but wanted to make sure I was proactive and got him into the dentist. He did AMAZING, Dr. Yip and his team were very explanatory and were kid friendly and explained things in kid fashion. My son choose the "chocolate" toothpaste for the cleaning and they kept telling him we need to put chocolate in your mouth & to "kiss the straw" for suction etc., they related and made him feel so comfortable he did everything they needed him to do and the appointment turned out fabulous, the added picture of him in the chair was a bonus since I was in the chair with him and wasn't able to get any photos. First visit was decieving. Nothing but a good review if we hadn't of needed to return for a second visit. Second visit was an emergency and the staff and doctor were impatient and condensending to both my child and myself. It was such a tramatic experience that we chose to never go back! The memory of the cruelty my daughter was subjected to was almost forgotten after two years. Now they begin their distasteful attempts at customer service via text messages, recieved as late as 9:30 pm on a Friday, informing us that the doctor is out of the office and inviting us to an ice cream social. read more
