My objective with my kiddo's teeth is to keep them healthy, and guide him into adulthood with as few cavities as possible. I absolutely do not want a dentist doing unnecessary work on him. After visiting Dentistry for Kids several times, and speaking with Dr. James, I'm convinced he shares the same goal. My son looks forward to his teeth cleaning visits at this dentist office. In our time there, he has had one small cavity, and having it filled by Dr. James was easy. My kid was as relaxed as he could be, with no tears. Also, hallelujah for child size x-ray films. The facility truly is amazing; it feels like stepping into an amusement park with rooms decorated in themes, and plenty of kid centric activities in the waiting areas. At the completion of their visit, kids get to choose something from the prize area, which is so well stocked, it is practically an event in itself. I don't personally know Dr. James, but it's apparent to me that he has a vision for his practice. He has created an environment where kids can grow up associating dental health, and dentist offices with positive experiences. He cares about the quality of his work, and the quality of each child's experience. Honestly, I'm surprised by the two negative reviews. Dr. James took extra time to answer all my questions, and address all my concerns. I'd really like to know if the people that had negative experiences bothered to discuss them at the office, where they could be addressed. If I could give this office more stars, I would! read more

We just took our four year old for her regular check up (every 6 months) and had a wonderful time. Crystal (sp ?) has been our dental hygienist the last year and she is absolutely excellent with kids. She doesn't force anything my kiddo isn't comfortable with yet. She put on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, my daughter's favorite show, and kept everything light and fun. Dr James came to take a quick look at my kid's teeth and everything went well. Quick appointment, done within 15 minutes, no wait. I'm always impressed with this place. read more

Very family friendly. Had our very first visit today and for a 23 month old I wasn't expecting a teeth cleaning so I can't comment on that part, but the staff was very kiddo friendly and really did everything they could to make my daughter as comfortable as possible! I was worried my daughter would be too uncomfortable to even sit in the chair but they really do everything they can to make kiddos comfy and fun stuff for them to play with and take home. Definitely recommend if you're worried about your kiddo being comfortable. The rooms are incredible, too. read more

We just took the kids there yesterday. It was our first time there- and we absolutely love it. From the moment you walk in, it is just like a dream for kids. So much to do, and the staff is so friendly. My son asked if we could go here every time we go to the dentist (we just moved here), and my daughter who is almost 2 was so good for her first appointment. This actually makes me look forward to bringing them to their next dentist appointment. Now if only they could take on clients my age.. ;) read more

A puppy mill for kiddos. Yes the office is decorated wonderfully. But the dental care is terrible. The turn over of hygienists in this office is crazy...from one appt to the next...i never recognize anyone but the dentist himself. Dr. James doesn't bother to take the time to familiarize himself with my kids or their dental history, and always seems to be suggesting treatment of some kind or another to pad the bill. The sealants that they put in place keep failing and needing to be replaced. The "cleaning" that my children are given lasts about 2 minutes and I'm pretty sure i could do a better job at home with our electronic toothbrushes. Overall, a terrible office to visit if you actually care about the dental health of your children...but a great place to let them play on iPads. read more

Not only is this the best pediatric dentist EVER, but they see adults, too, and are fantastic! The two waiting rooms (one for kids, one for teens) are outstanding and ridiculously unique. Then, if you can get your kid out of the waiting room, the exam rooms are just as exciting, with themes, music, HD tv's, and all the latest updated equipment. I will never take my family anywhere else. read more

The rooms are beautiful and the dental hygienists Are great as are the front desk staff. The dentist himself does not have the best customer service skills and does not really seem to take the time to get to know his patients or communicate well with the parents. read more

Best pediatric dentist ever!! The dr and staff are so wonderful. Everyone is always smiling and happy to be there. Today was our second visit. Our 2 yr old turned in her pacifiers to dr James in exchange for some paci fairy presents (I wrapped and brought). They went over and above getting her excited to be a big girl and blew up balloons, etc. we stayed and played in lobby for an hour after because she didn't want to leave. Everyone at Dr. James' office was incredible. I took my 3 1/2 year old son for his second trip to the dentist and his first trip at another office was less than pleasant and so I was very nervous for this trip. I was very pleasantly surprised with our experience. The front lobby is filled with toys and it is bright and inviting and the room is filled with tropical, upbeat music. The rooms are all different themes and the kids watch movies while they get their teeth cleaned. My son felt comfortable and at ease and when we left, he said he wanted to go back! The staff and the doctor were all amazing and I couldn't ask for a better experience! read more

We love this place...a lot. We came here after a bad experience at a kids dentist in Beaverton where my sons tooth was infected and the dentist insisited that our son was making up feeling the pain he was feeling. Anyways we came here and i cant tell you enough how gentle and patient Dr. James was. My son loves coming here and we have started going to the adult side ourselves as a result. Btw the waiting rooms are phenomenal and if we are being honest no one (not even i) want to leave. Each room is soothing and relaxing as well as comfortable. I myself rather give birth than go sit in one of those torture chairs but somehow this office takes all the edge off and makes the experience as pleasant as it can be. read more

OK...so my insurance changed and I needed to find a new dentist for me. I tried a local dentist on my plan that I received a mailer for. It was HORRIBLE. My first visit didn't even include a cleaning. They told me I would need to come back for another appointment. I asked for my xrays and went in search of a new dentist. My friend commented wouldn't it be great if Dentistry for Kids took adults. No joke...the very NEXT day I received a mailer saying they were now taking adult patients. To my review...It was first and foremost a great experience. They had more updated equipment then the previously mentioned dentist and the xrays weren't incredibly uncomfortable. The new dentist (sorry, but I can't remember her name but she looks like Jennifer Gardner) even noticed a missing tooth that had been filled in with shifting teeth. No dentist in the past 20 years have ever figured this out! She also said I didn't need the 3 fillings the previous dentist recommended I get. The FUNNIEST part...I was offered a prize off the prize shelf! I also got a grown up prize of a movie ticket. I left there with a huge smile and felt like a kid again. One note...if you're an adult...remind them that your insurance isn't going to cover a fluoride treatment...they have age limits on those! read more

I've been going here since I was a kid and this place is wonderful. Nurses are sweet and Dr. James is informative and kind.

Was not impressed with Dr. James. His office is nice and they obviously spent a lot of money on it. I however, am more concerned with how my child is treated than whether she has an iPad to play on while waiting...I was told my child had a cavity (just one) and would need a crown and possibly a root canal. They suggested that she take some Valium for her next visit, which she has had before with other dentists, but they did not weigh her to get the proper dose. When I asked if they should weigh her, they said "Oh its only 5 mg, I wouldn't worry about it." Well when it comes to medication, the child should definitely be weighed whether its 5 mg or 500 mg. I took my child to another dentist for a second opinion on the cavity treatment and the second dentist found two other cavities for a total of 3 (which were not mentioned by Dr. James). Also, the second dentist agreed with the crown and possible root canal, but gave me another option of pulling the tooth (since its a baby tooth). Dr. James did not take the time to explain everything to me or give me any other options or even mention that there were two other cavities in there and what the possible treatment was for those. He seemed to be hurried and didnt spend more than 5 minutes with us. Needless to say, we will be going with another pediatric dentist... read more
