My son had to be sedated for his procedure and once Dr. Jacobsen got in his mouth there was WAY more work that needed to be done then we thought. I was feeling very overwhelmed about the cost and decided I needed to prioritize what needed to be done and only do the most important work to keep the cost down, but Dr. Jacobsen was more worried about the well being of my 7 year old son then he was about money and did ALL the work he needed at no extra charge. I came to The Kid's Dentist because of a bad experience with my child's previous dentist. Dr. Yip determined that my child needed a tooth extracted along with some fillings and crowns. It was very overwhelming, the amount of work that needed to be done on such a young child, but Dr. Yip took the time to explain the reasoning behind the treatments and our options on how to proceed. One of the options was the use of general anesthesia and complete the treatment in one sitting while my child was sedated. At first, the use of general anesthesia on such a young child made me nervous. But, Dr. Yip took the time to explain that the risks were minimal and that the ability to get the treatment done in one sitting instead of a possible four would save my child from the "traumatic" experience of multiple trips, shots, and drilling. The entire process only took a few hours and my child recovered quickly. Dr. Yip even followed up with us, after hours, just to check on my child's recovery. The best part... my child still likes going to the dentist and isn't afraid to go see Dr. Yip. The use of general anesthesia was well worth it and I would recommend any parent to strongly consider it as an option for their child's treatment. I highly recommend The Kid's Dentist. The dentist stopped showing us the x-rays automatically, instead I get told there's another cavity and go schedule the appointment to fill it and that's that. It just feels a little impersonal and like they're not trying to do anything else to help. The last thing that kind of put me over was the receptionist acting shocked the last two times I've been there when I needed to schedule the filling a month out or spread out appointments. My insurance does not cover the whole price of fillings. They are $100+ and I literally had to tell her, I am a single mom, I don't just have extra money lying around (which someone shouldn't have to explain). One of my daughter's fillings ended up falling out too, for no reason. I instead went to my dentist that I go to and they offered my daughter preventative measures that are super well priced so that fillings aren't necessary, especially for teeth that are going to fall out soon. Even their filling prices were slightly cheaper and the receptionist was super nice and let me schedule the appointments when I needed to, without question or hesitation. Plus, they care about you as a person and even remember things you told them from the previous time you were there. Overall young Kidz is pretty good for a dentist, just left me with a bad vibe.
