This restaurant looks very simple and close to the marina but no lake view. Nevertheless, the ambiance is simple and family oriented yet elegant. And I can't say enough about the food. Everything from the entree, main course, desserts, and the drinks are amazing. My steak was cooked just right. My friend who is a picky eater finished her portions. The service is impeccable. Everybody was so friendly and treated us as either family or old friends. Will definitely coming back. This restaurant is highly recommended.

Amazing place, a hidden gem. A definite yes to visit and try them out. The ambience is very nice, the food is amazing and the service is very good.

At the corner of Brock and Victoria. Outside looks like your average all day breakfast place. Inside is a small family style restaurant but dinner has black table clothe tables and candle. Seats around under 50 people. Poster on the right hand side shows the owner of this restaurant is Jose Mendoza, competitor of Chopped Canada in 2014. He came in second FYI. There's frequent firey moments to see since its open kitchen. This is what I had one day before Valentine's Day: Wine: Valpolicella, Masi, Italy 1/2L @ $23 Very small wine selection. 6oz glass ranges from $7-8.50. Half litre ones go from$16-24. Full bottles are $28-48. Their selection include some basic VQA wines (ie. OPEN and Jackson's Triggs) .. some other offers such as Jacob Creek, Casillero del Diablo, Masi, etc. Not impressed with the wine list but or a small restaurant it's okay. Service is okay, plate collection is a bit slow. I came in for my reservation at 7pm ... its 9pm I'm still eating only because the food took a while. Food delivery is also slower than normal but I think its because there is only two chef. App: Steamed Mussel in Curry Cream Sauce Good sauce. Interesting combination, has beans, onions and bell peppers. Some mussels weren't fully cooked, as I still taste the fishiness in them (but I'm personally quite sensitive to tat taste). Dinner: NY Striploin (regular menu) Delicious! Very juicy and tender. Atlantic Cod & Scallops (daily special) Great! One of the best fish dishes I've had. Overall great food, nice little place. I'd come back if i was I the area. FYI there is no lake view.

Had a chance to try the Lake Grill last night and was pleasantly surprised. Food Quality was very good with a large amount of seafood on the menu. Entrees are all mostly over $24 and I have to wonder if they should look at the pricing a bit as it is a bit high for the area. (but they are apparently busy most nights so who am I to judge..) With that said I really enjoyed my crispy red snapper and the Orange roughly my wife ordered was also perfectly cooked and tasty. For dessert I had a very tasty sticky toffee cake and she had the red velvet cake both of which were very nice and beautifully presented I would go again.

Halibut. Fabulous. A must stop if in Toronto area

The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, and when we moved to our table our server was also great. Cocktails were fabulous and the ambiance of the place is very nice. My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Every dish I had was very good. For this meal I ordered something different, the shrimp stuffed catfish. Never had catfish so this dish was calling me. The sauce was very tasty and had a nice kick of heat to finish. Catfish was good and the shrimp stuffing was more like a meat ball texture and not really whole shrimp like I thought. Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.

Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Though I usually don't like corn, I loved this one and enjoyed the meal. Would come back here for more for sure!

On the most recent trip I really enjoyed the country fried steak. While it is heavy, it is perfectly fried and topped with a savoury and creamy white gravy. The fries on the side were cooked absolutely perfectly. The coleslaw was tangy and balanced. The Mac n Cheese was so creamy, with a hint of spice and topped with breadcrumbs to create a mix of flavours. This is already on top of the many other tasty dishes such as the pork shoulder and smoked chicken wings which I highly recommend. Butchie's is a BBQ staple for Durham region. No ribs or brisket, so I'm not sure if they really ever have that sort of bbq food available. The hush puppies were nice. I liked the crunchy/ crispy exterior and the soft, cake like interior. It was a savoury item I've never had before and definitely can understand why it's popular. I also like the sauces they served with these. Smoked chicken wings were amazing. Chicken had a nice salty, herby rub it was tossed in. It was like all dressed or bbq chip seasoning on top of the chicken which was a bit addicting. Our chicken was a bit over cooked and slightly dry, but it was still great. My partner had the country fried steak. I was going to warn him it probably wasn't his cup of tea but he never tried so there you have it. It was a fried thin steak with some gravy sauce over top. I don't know if that's how it's suppose to taste to be honest so I don't want to really judge it. I personally wouldn't order it. Nevermind if it's how it should taste, I just didn't love the soggy feel to it. The steak was super dry and over cooked. I loved the drink options. They carry a sparking tea made locally and I know they've tried to partner with local artisan drinks. They make milkshake the real way with real kawartha dairy ice cream, which is amazing. I love that they have real Kawartha Dairy ice cream too. The service is 10/10. People are incredibly friendly! The food took a while to come out the kitchen so definitely not an option for rushed dinners, but atleast it's fresh. Personally, I want to support them, but I think it's not my kind of food. I hope they continue to be in business though and spread their good spirits and fun. I'll definitely swing by for ice cream once in a while.

Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.
