Food has improved substantially since last year. Service in our last few visits there has been great! Friendly, respectful atmosphere!

Came here because we were camping across the street and we wanted an easy dinner. The servers were young and not very knowledgeable about the menu, but they were both very kind and were working hard. The drinks came out looking we were in a supper club and the treats up front (brownies specifically) looked sooo good so we bought 4, but again, they tasted loke bad generic sysco mix and we ended up throwing them away. As others have stated, this is definitely a case of, "Sysco dropped it off and they put it in the fryer and on your plate". BUT... if you're not looking for much more than that, then this is your place. read more

Had burgers, onion rings and fries, Sam Adams Oktoberfest on tap. All good. Lots of topping choices For the burgers. Lettuce, tomato, onion raw or fried, mushroom, bacon, several cheeses, jalapeños....might have forgot a few. Nice woodsy atmosphere inside. The food was average, at best. Nachos were served cold and were nothing to recommend. 4 adults ordered a meal and not one was impressed. The service was slow too. Our waitress just disappeared but yet we could see her working on NOTHING. The other waitress had to refill our drinks, bring us our bill (after we lingered at our table standing up & by the cash register with no response from our waitress), and check us out. Never again will I visit here for food. read more

There were 2 of us last night and they did a great job serving us. The food was great and we drove there by boat, so that was cool too. We had a small dog with us and so were planning to eat outside but they said if it was a service dog and would sit on our laps, she could go in. All in all a nice experience. read more

We came on a Wednesday night before a weekly event when they served only appetizers, hamburgers and pizza! Turns out that was plenty to feed all of us including kiddos!! The hamburgers were awesome (build with you choice of toppings on a grilled bun). We boated there from across the lake. The service was great and there was a lot of wall eye candy that the kids enjoyed! Would recommend for a relaxed and casual evening!! read more

We were staying on the flowage just down the street and was told this place has good food and a great venue to come to. We entered into the bar area to seat ourselves and were greeted within in a few mins. Drinks took a bit longer then normal but understand it's a Tuesday. Order sirloins for 2 people and it took a long period of time to receive them as we ordered them Med rare but yet received them well done. Owner proceeded to show us that they can't serve meat "rare", when in doubt we didn't order it that way. 1.5 hours later we received our " Seared" sirloin. Done on the outside and "cold rare" on inside. Yes. DEAD RARE. PLACE IS A JOKE. Highly recommend not doing business with this place. Note: this review is for the resort only. We're regulars at The Landing with a winter stay annually. Denny, the resort owner, is always cordial and helpful. Our cabins are always clean and ready for us, and checking in and out is simple. Cabins are well-heated with lots of cooking amenities and spare blankets and comforters for the bed in case you get chilly. Everything works well, and there's plenty of space. Views of the flowage are also fantastic, and we seen bald eagles out flying over the water. Some tips: - different cabins have different cutlery and kitchen tools, so you might have to ask a neighbor - bring towels and hand soap for the bathroom - bring paper towels and consider dish soap for the kitchen, though there is usually some soap there - shop before you leave Hayward since there are no grocery options outside of Hayward, which is about a 20 minute drive away We have returned in the past and will continue to go back since we like The Landing so much. read more

The location is amazing (however not where it says it is on the map). Great view of the flowage and lot of cool pictures and musky nostalgia. The food is solid. It's bar food but have some good Wisconsin cheese curds and pizza along with sandwiches and burgers and such. Also has a great Friday fish fry! I gave it three stars because of the overall appeal and location. But as far as service it lacks. We have come in on numerous occasions and the bartenders are pretty friendly and on point but the servers are just okay which was disappointing because they seem friendly just not overly responsive. We came and there were at least 8-10 open tables inside (there is a cool patio) and were told there would be a wait. Along with that it took some time for them to even acknowledge we had a party that wanted to eat. Definitely worth coming and would be a higher rating if they showed a little more attention to everyone both tourists and locals (we came with locals and got treated the same). read more

The Landing has been my family's favorite spot to go for the past 15+ years! We always camp across the street and make sure to get breakfast here at least once during our trip! The foot is good, pretty standard breakfast food. The past few times we have gone our service has been kind of slow, but we're on vacation so not in a hurry! I love their french toast and marmalade - and they have the option to add fruit, whipped cream, and chocolate chips! Their Bloody Mary's are also very loaded up; they come with a meat stick, celery, a hard boiled egg, as well as some other veggies! read more

Went to The Landing for Breakfast in early July. This bar/restaurant is a perfect stop during a day on the big chip! The only reason that I am giving this a four is due to a generally slow service regarding collecting orders, checking in to refill water, and the like. In terms of food: The Bloody Mary's were on point and were a meal themselves complete with a hard-boiled egg and meat stick. Though not as spicy as I usually like, they were a great way to start my morning! My corned beef hash was also quite enjoyable and very filling. The grounds were beautiful and there was a decently large outdoor seating area. They also had a great selection of ice cream (scooped and novelties) in the gift shop. read more

Sadly I was looking forward to breakfast at this restaurant and actually it was my worst dining experience. After waiting 1.5 hours, everyone at my table got their food but me. The cook was upset? First time at this restaurant, food was good only because we had to wait 1+ hour to get it. My husband found a piece of paper in his omelette. First time we have not tipped the waitress. We were our servers only table at 7pm on a Sunday night. She never came back to see if we would like another cocktail. The food was great last year. We started with walleye fingers. Low grade frozen fish sticks. 2 of the fish sticks were spoiled. Yuck. I had the roast. Yuck. The cheddar biscuit was rock hard. Gravy out of a can?? His burger had no flavor. This is probably the best place to get a view of the river! Yes you may be on a resort but it is quiet and peaceful. From the numerous times that I have been there service was pretty average( always asked if put waters needed refilling), and was always friendly! Food is pretty good, and really I only have the burger here. Though many review about lunch/dinner don't forget they serve breakfast, and it is one of the best I've had up here! Reading other posts I will fall right in line with the fact that I was told this was a good place for fish. I am not a person that leaves too many reviews but the experience I had here warrants me doing so to help others out! Right from the start there is absolutely no organizational skills whatsoever by the hostess! We put our name in and stood right next to the front register waiting for our name to be called. So we had a front row to witness The circus that was taking place in front of us! I Heard one hostess say to another that she was not going to go looking for a certain party if they're not here. They do not have a PA system or any type of transponder type systems so you better stand right there in front of the register or you'll miss out on your table.there were people that came in after us getting seated before us even though we had a smaller group. I finally went and asked when we would be seated and the girl told me next. Then another group was seated in front of me again! So again I went and Asked why it wasn't us being seated as she promised that we were next! She said something to the effect that the list was upside down and now we were number four! If we didn't already invest a lot of time I would've walked out the door by now! While waiting I went to the bar and got myself a drink as well as one for my wife. Do not get a Long Island iced tea here! It was a pre-Mixed version straight out of a bottle and he might as well have given me Kool-Aid! Why any decent Restaurant would ever serve that crap is beyond me! We finally got seated and All had the fish fry. Fish was just Ok. After serving our food the waitress came back once and asked how we were doing. Both of my kids ordered refills on there drinks and she said OK. But never returned! So my wife went and got them herself! When she finally returned I requested the bill. After she brought that back I waited for some time to give her my credit card. Again she never returned. I almost cut her a break thinking maybe it was a busy night. But my wife told me that she saw her outside smoking a cigarette! So I gave up and just went to the register to pay my bill. It got me thinking that when she should've been getting my drinks earlier she was probably out smoking a cigarette again also! I typically tip anywhere from 18% to 20%. This was the first time in my life I can think of that I ever left less than 15%! This may sound cliché but I definitely will never come back to this place again! read more

We travel to the Hayward area several times a year for the joys of camping. Herman's Landing is a regular stop during our time there. There is always good food (and great beverages) at the Landing! The deck outside is pet friendly as well! We sit at the edge of the deck and the staff always brings a bowl of water for our little dogs! The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We frequently boat in to get gas and a couple of cocktails to go. Sometimes grab a sandwich to go for lunch or grab some ice. We have never had a bad experience at the Landing. Use to go there all the time,and it was great,was there Fourth of July 2017!they charged us 18.00 for the worst Reuben I ever had! We were the only table there and it took forever to get waited on(even thou there was help walking around) It was the forth of July!! We won't be going back there again,I don't know when these other reviews were posted,but take it from me it eas terrible! This place is in the middle of the Chippewa Flowage. It has been recently remodeled, and the menu has been updated. This is a great place for an all you can eat fish fry. The fish is tasty and the sides dishes are good. The Landing also has a great burger. They allow you to put as many toppings on it as you want, such as olives, hot peppers, mushrooms, grilled onions, pizza sauce and many more options at no charge. read more
