Whoa! Story time children! I had the most amazing French hair expert/ coiffure who treated my hair like luxurious royalty. My whole family had to be clients. Yes. Even the boyfriend forgot about his $35 special for Charles. Charles, bequeathed to us by the hair Gxds! He was my constant. The star for which my hair fate was tethered. How could they be so cruel as to take him back to France! A wide divide had been created. How would I ever find the golden scissors that my hair had come to expect? It took time. Years. I kept showing stylists how my hair was cut during its happiest moments with Charles. An A line bob with scissor texture only achieved by an expert was what I described. But no one got it. I tried several places. Even my step mom's hair stylist! (Yes. It got that bad!). No one would take on the challenge. Until Lacey. Lacey the hair coiffure. My hair relaxed knowing that it was in good hands. In with the scissors she went, I sighed. I remembered this feeling, this shape. Mama was back babies! Yes! Nailed it! 5 stars! 1million stars! I generally have hair apathy but The Lane makes me want to care again. I had a color with Stevie and my hair looks amazing. The color was very natural and I am so happy with it. I really loved Stevie. She was so kind and fun to talk to. She made getting my hair colored, fun. After my color, I had a haircut with Lacey. Even as she was working, cutting off about 5 inches, I knew I was going to love it. By the time she was done, I was in love with my hair again. I got long layers and am so happy about it. What I appreciated the most is that Lacey was diligent about asking how I live. Knowing that I exercise daily, she made sure I would be able to put my hair in a pony tail. I went in not too sure of what I wanted, I just knew a few inches had to be cut because my ends were crisped and the length just wasn't proportional to my height. I've been a client of David's for over four years now, there have been times where i've gone to other salons due to convenience but I can't say the results are always as promising. Long overdue review - I've been coming to this salon for the past 3 years and am so thankful I found it! I've been seeing Angelica for hair coloring since I moved to SF 7 years ago. Boy am I happy I found her!!! Not only is she the sweetest to chat with and remembers all the little things you share with her, but is very collaborative in her approach - she listens to what you want and gives feedback when you ask but without being pushy of her opinion and we always land exactly where I envision! She's very attentive to detail and takes pride in using clean hair products and ensuring you are happy with the result before you leave. She knows my hair well at this point and I fully trust her with it. I will follow her anywhere she goes (and I already did, in fact - as she was at a different salon when we first met :)) I work with Lacey for my cuts and she is also so fantastic! I see her around every 6 months and am so happy every time. She did great each time, and was very meticulous (I only did short haircut) The only downside is that the hours they have available never work with my schedule and I cannot take off from work for 1h30min each time. I came to the Lane after a botched coloring experience at another salon. 2 actually. Since I'd had Angelica do my coloring when she worked at code (and admittedly, it's the photo I show people when I tell them how I want my color to be done), I reached out to her for help. When I spoke to Angelica after the whole ordeal happened, she was so compassionate and coached me on what to do and how we'd fix it when I came in to see her. And she did - I love how it turned out! Angelica also introduced me to Lacey who was a delight and did a lovely job cutting. Some specific things I liked about the experience are: 1) the hair color they use at this salon doesn't burn or sting or even smell harsh like chemicals. My skin (and nose) tend to be quite sensitive so this was a pleasant and welcome surprise. 2) The facility is very open and airy. For covid-conscious patrons, it might be nice to know that without being prompted Lacey offered to and willingly donned a mask (as I was wearing one) to make me feel more comfortable. Todd has been cutting my hair since pre-pandemic days at Tailored (R.I.P.), and I'm so happy he has found a new home at The Lane. I went in for my first cut at the salon a few weeks ago and loved how open the space was - lots of natural light and not so many chairs that on a busy day it would be impossible to hear your stylist. As for Todd - I can't recommend him enough. His cuts are impeccable. I've got a serious mop top - lots of fine waves and loose curls. He's worked my hair into a mullet/shag that feels wearable (instead of wearing me) and has made me forget that my straightener and blow dryer ever existed. I've embraced my natural texture and can wash and wear, and wear, and wear for a few days while still looking pulled together. All in all - the best cuts I've ever had. Went in for a pink balayage back in November. Angelica was really nice and I appreciate her taking her time to make sure the color and style I wanted for my hair was what I actually wanted. She was also very considerate of how sensitive my scalp is and always reassured me it's okay to let her know if my scalp is being too sensitive, which I didnt experience at all. Since it was just us two at the salon, the experience became more personable. I would definitely go see her again. Today, I went back for a tone & blow dry and this time in copper! The salon was clean, bright, and modern and is taking their Covid protocol very seriously. Don't worry if you get a little hair in your mask; they have extras for you! I was graciously greeted when I entered, which always puts a smile on my face. The Lane is in a great part of the city so you can shop and eat before or after your appointment. WOW have never had customer service like this at a salon before. I booked online for a blowout today and when I got confirmation, I called immediately noticing that I booked for tomorrow by accident. I called not 2 minutes after making the appt to let them know and the very rude receptionist told me there was nothing she could do and would need to charge me the full 100% cancellation fee. I understand the policy but in this instance, she could have at least made an effort to make it right. Honestly, I've never been treated so rudely at a salon anywhere in the world. This was my first visit to The Lane Salon; however, I've had the absolute and continuous pleasure of knowing Todd Okimura-Strelitz over thirteen years. I've visited Todd monthly (except for a few months during the pandemic) for the entirety of our relationship. I've been amazed monthly for all these years without fail. The Lane's atmosphere is clean and modern. I felt immediately welcomed and at home with a large table at the front of the Salon. I was impressed with all the chairs full while still remaining a soothing experience. Past salons on a busy Saturday felt hurried and a bit nervous. Not here, I felt rejuvenated, and ready for the world after my service. The neighborhood is perfectly located near the Fillmore. I have been seeing Frank for my haircut and he is so wonderful to work with - he consistently asks what I'm looking for and how I'm liking my hair, looking for any opportunities to improve it based on my vision. I have never been happier with my haircut - he gives it incredible texture and movement that lasts, but he does it in a way that's low maintenance for someone like me who doesn't do much with their hair on a day-to-day basis.
