I had my topography lasik procedure done in August of 2021, so 3 years ago now, and it has been the BEST decision of my life. Dr. Machat and the ophthalmologist gave me a second chance at sight and absolutely changed my life. It has been 3 years since the surgery and I still see just as clearly as I did the day after surgery. They understood my severe anxiety issues, they were patient with me. Everything happened so quickly too that it didn't allow me a chance to back out and talk myself out of it and I'm so glad because this has been an amazing amazing amazing experience for me. My husband and I came in on a Wednesday to see if I qualified for Lasik at all, after the testing, which was thorough but quick, we were explained the options and the costs. My husband and I decided to go ahead and pay upfront in full and scheduled my procedure for that Friday. So I had one day to freak out and then I was in the procedure room! Highly recommend this lasik institute, the staff, Dr.Machat and just getting lasik in general. I was on the fence about it but I would gladly do this procedure over and over again every year if I had to to have these same results as I currently have, even 3 years later. Also, don't get discouraged if your regular eye doctor tells you that you're "not a candidate" for lasik and that it "would never work" because sometimes those doctors are wrong or are just trying to make more $ off of you. The web site stated they were open. The phone message stated they were busy helping other customers. I leave work and drive there to try to set up an appointment as a new client. Paper work and insurance approval, etc. When I arrive there at 9:40am on Monday (Nov 21). The office is closed with no signage as to why and when I call the office number it once again says they are busy helping other customers... I got a call back from a corporate (not local office) saying they are closed Monday and Tuesday this week and to apologize for the inconvenience, the apology is nice, but better communication/ customer service is what I would prefer. read more

Went in for my initial consultation for LASIK and from the moment I walked in, I wasn't just some patient. Dr. Quinn and Lynn were extremely helpful and friendly. Answering all my questions and taking their time with me. Even though they were short staffed that day. On the day of my procedure, even though the staff was busy with the amount of patients, they were very friendly and took their time explaining what's was happening and what to expect. I felt extremely at ease during my LASIK procedure. I was treated like family and not a customer or patient. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting or even just considering LASIK to come here. I enjoyed the experience but the wait time is horrible. My appt was at 8am I arrived at the clinic around 7:45am. My surgery didn't take place until 2pm. Wow! I know. I have worn glasses for 27 yrs. So one day I saw a Groupon for Lasik. I was told that the Groupon was limited so I had to purchased soon as they would take it down in the next few weeks (that was a lie, the groupon is still active as of today). I called and went in for my consultation. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I was a good candidate for PRK and the price was still same. They could schedule me for surgery immediately. I opted to wait another few weeks as I needed additional days to recover from PRK vs Lasik. I scheduled surgery for November 22 so I could have all Thanksgiving weekend to recover. In the meantime, I consulted with 2 other Lasik providers in the city and they all said the same thing- I needed PRK and I was a good candidate. So it just came down to price. Procedure was all the same. So the Groupon saved me significantly. Dr. Palacios was great at answering all my questions and concerns and my surgery was performed by Dr. Miller. Larhonda and the rest of the staff made me feel so at ease. Today was my four month and final follow up and I can see 20/15. I had very high astigmatism as well as nearsightedness (20/200 without glasses) before surgery. I was freaked out at the thought of something being done to my eye but in the end it was worth it! read more

I was able to show up on surgery day with a lot of confidence and excitement. As you've read, there was an extended wait time on surgery day, but that's to be expected. The staff made sure we were comfortable while we waited and gave accurate updates in terms of their progress through the surgery schedule. The procedure itself was very quick and should not be a consideration for those on the fence - it's simple and rather painless. I purchased their Groupon, but after my consultation only one eye was recommended. I got a refund from Groupon and went ahead. They made sure I understood what I needed, what to expect and what not to do, and they took my concerns into account in the plan. I can now read without glasses or contacts. I had PRK done here on 12/30/2017. My initial consultation was on 12/27/2017, so it was pretty cool to have the procedure scheduled and done within literal days. Initial consultation: I had to wait a while because they were a tad understaffed coming off from the holidays. I'm not going ding them for this because I do understand things like this happens. The staff that I interacted with were extremely professional and positive despite the shorthandedness. Before the actual examination of my eyes, I sat down with (I think) the office manager to discuss pricing, the procedure, and to address any questions that I may had. At no time did I feel that she tried to upsell me or use any uncomfortable sales tactics. Afterwards, I had my eyes checked by a technician using the same machines you would find at any other optometry places, plus one that measures cornea thickness. Then I sat down with the opthalmologist, Dr. Lee, who was filling in for Dr. Palacio. Not only was Dr. Lee extremely knowledgeable in his trade, he was also extremely thorough and definitely show care for his patients. He had me do the Snellen eye chart with him again to verify my astigmatism (which I didn't know I had). Given that I will only ever have one set of eyeballs, I definitely appreciate the extra time that he took to cross the t's and dot the eye's (sorry for the pun). He then wrote me the prescriptions that I'll need and sent me on my way to the front desk to schedule the surgery. Day of surgery: There was also a bit of a wait as Saturday is their surgery day, but it was not bad. They were better staffed, and like before, everyone was super nice. You pay on the day of surgery, and I actually had an issue with payment not working. I was a bit embarrassed, but they were very patient and flexible with me, and in the end I was able to pay. Afterwards they did a quick eye exam again to confirm some numbers. I waited a bit more, and then...the surgery. Dr. Rynerson was the surgeon, and we spoke a bit prior to surgery, and he asked me if I had any lingering questions. And finally it came time. Due to the nature of the procedure, it was a bit uncomfortable but by no means painful. I don't think I was on the operating table for more than 10 minutes. They gave me a teddy bear to squeeze for the discomfort, which I definitely did. Dr. Rynerson tried to have small talk with me, but the entire time I kind of was trying to zone out to bear (pun) the discomfort. My eyes were tearing up right afterwards, but it only lasted an hour or so. Before I left, I spoke with Dr. Lee again to go over post op procedures and scheduled follow up the next day. All in all, I am extremely pleased with this place. Given that I had PRK, it could take a few weeks to a few months for my vision to reach peak acuity. It'll fluctuate day by day and will eventually stabilize, but I can see (pun alert) the gradual improvement already and the worst part of recovery is over. I still find it so strange waking up with pretty clear vision and realizing that I didn't accidentally sleep in my contacts again. This has been definitely one of the best self investment that I have ever made. Addendums: 1. At first, I went in with the intention of LASIK (which Dr. Lee told me that I was a candidate for), but two days prior to surgery I called them and opt for PRK instead (I'm currently in the Army, and LASIK would have disqualified me for a lot of training opportunities). Thankfully, they were super flexible and told me that it was not a problem at all changing it over and that there would be no difference in cost. I honestly was expecting some type of hoop to jump through. 2. I don't live in Memphis anymore, and I was in town visiting family (and figuring, "Hey let's get my eyeballs zapped while I'm here.") With the post op appointments, it would have been terrible if I had to drive back to Memphis just for them. Luckily, they staff worked with me and found a LVI local to where I live for my future post op appointments. I honestly can't say enough good things about the people who works here. 3. My sister also went in for an initial consultation with LVI after I told her that I was going to get PRK done. Apparently her vision was already pretty good because they told her that they do not recommend LASIK at this time. I appreciate that they were honest with her and weren't trying to make her go through an expensive procedure that would have been unnecessary for her. read more

I had LASIK & am extremely happy with the results. The staff was outgoing and very friendly. However there are many, many opportunities for improvement. I arrived at 8:15AM for an 8:30AM consultation. There was not a receptionist or any member of the office staff at the front desk or near the waiting room. I thought that maybe the staff were in the back so I took a seat & waited --for about 10-15 minutes. I then decided to loudly yell "HELLO?" No response. About 10mins later a doctor walked towards the waiting room where I sat. He apologized that the receptionist was running late & he grabbed a board to have me sign in. At almost 8:45AM a woman runs into the office barefoot, with damp hair, shoes in hand. She is wearing scrubs & quickly dashes into an office. It turns out she's an employee. At about 9:00AM other staff members stroll in. I completed the necessary forms, received eye exams, including dilation, which was not mentioned when scheduling the appointment & left the office at about 11:30AM. I didn't arrange transportation & wasn't advised that I couldn't drive, so I headed home. The day of my LASIK surgery I arrived promptly at 7:45AM for my 8:00AM appointment. As it turned out about a dozen others had appointments at 8:00AM too. The surgeon arrived at 10:00AM & performed the 5-7min procedures on everyone within about an hour or two. Scheduling and time management definitely aren't this groups forte. If you opt to employ their services be prepared to spend at least 2 business days of your life with them. If you have friends that have had the surgery performed ask them what to expect. The office staff is not always thorough about covering what you need to know. read more

I just had my lasik vision correction this past Saturday (6 days ago) and it was totally worth it. Everyone at the Cordova location was absolutely amazing and although I freaked out a little during the procedure, the staff in the OR were amazing at calming me down and reassuring me. At my 1 day postop I was already seeing 20/20. Today was my 1 week postop and I was still seeing at 20/20, I have no discomfort or pain, and my dry eye has went away. I just had PRK surgery done on 10/28/17 by Dr. Rynerson and I went from -10 prescription to being able to see 20/40 within 1 day and my vision continues to get better and better each day. I love the staff and Ashton calmed all of my fears. The rest of the staff is absolutely amazing and made the experience fun! The price was extremely reasonable. The wait times are a little long, but when you are with the staff or doctor they make you feel like you're the most important patient they've seen that day. Let me say that I was terrified of having corrective vision surgery but the staff here is so comforting and wonderful! They made me feel so at ease during my PRK procedure and in my follow-up! First of all I would like to start by saying THE STAFF IS GREAT! Now here's my story, I'm 23 and have had to deal with bad vision all of my life. I've never been a huge glasses person because I've always played football and did so many more physical activities so I wore -5.0 corrective contact lenses. One day I decided to look up the lasik procedure and found that the Lasik Vision Institute in Memphis had great reviews. From there I scheduled the free consultation to see if I was eligible to have the procedure done on my eyes. Then I discovered my cornea flap was too thin to have lasik so I had to result to PRK. Although both procedures are great and very safe PRK does have a longer recovery time, but is better if you do a lot of physical activities anyway. So From that point we talked financial options and set up the procedure and I can honestly say it is probably the best money I've ever spent in my life. 5 Days after the procedure I can already see 20/30 which is better than I've ever been able to see in my life and am anticipating my 1 month follow up where I will ideally have perfect vision. So if you are on the fence about having this procedure done, I highly recommend doing it. And at this specific location with such a great staff, I promise you won't regret it! Also if you are worried about the procedure being too expensive financially, worry no more. They have flexible financial plans in place that will make it affordable to anyone who seriously wants the procedure. read more

I am 28 years old and haven't been able to see since 2nd grade. After years of contemplation I finally chose to get Lasik, and I'm so glad I chose the Lasik Vision Institute. From start to finish the staff was absolutely exceptional. They were friendly, relatable and made a rather frightening experience seem like a walk in the park. The worst part was the waiting and anticipation. Once I was in the OR I was visibly nervous and Hailey talked me through taking deep breaths. The surgery itself is not painful, just uncomfortable and a little scary. Dr. Rynerson talked to me the whole way through so I knew what was happening. He did my right eye first so when it was time for the left eye I was a bit more scared, probably because I knew what was coming. The tough parts are the suction before the laser, which only lasts a few second and removing everything they used to keep my eye open but I'm really hesitant to even say that because it was a very minor discomfort. When it was done I could see immediately. After surgery you sit in a room with your eyes closed for about 20 min, the doctor examines you and you're free to go. You keep your eyes closed for 3-4 hours after surgery (hopefully take a nap) and then start your drops regimen. The next morning you go back for a post op visit, which I drove myself to because I can see!! The doctor examines you, takes out the contact lens bandage and you're off to live your life contacts and glasses free! I have a few hemorrhage's in each eye which I expected but those will go away in time and most importantly I can see!! My vision is 20/15! I never thought I'd be able to wake up in the morning and be able to see! It's unreal to me that 5 minutes in the operating room changed my life! I will be forever grateful and thankful to The Lasik Vision Institute, the staff in the Memphis office and Dr. Rynerson. Thank you!!! read more

I am 53 years old, in glasses since I was 9. My vision was horrible. I literally could only see about 12 inches in front of me without my glasses, no distance at all (shadows unless HUGE). Sam helped me with all my questions. Dr. Chris has been wonderful! I was very excited when I found out I was a candidate and they could fix BOTH my field of vision. First day was a little blurry but I could see immediately! The next day I had my check up and the contacts protecting my lenses were removed. I was already at 20/25. I can't even explain how excited I was and still am!!! My surgery was on Thursday at about 3 PM. I drove myself to the appointment Friday, then drove for 10 hours to Texas. I had a little problem with night vision once I got to multiple lights due to construction and allowed my daughter to drive. I figured I had pushed enough!! The point to all this? I'd recommend this office and it's staff 100 x over!! They have made me a very happy lady. I can now see my grandchildren when they are swimming without water drops all over my glasses. read more
