This property is truly Sometimes you see photos of a place and it looks "high-end", and then you arrive and the finishings are actually cheap and there was just good lighting in the photos. With The Last Resort, everything looks beautiful and high-end in the photos, and then you arrive and you're like, woah, this is somehow nicer than the photos? The attention to detail is unmatched. From the floors, to the layout, to the manicured lawn, to the signs, to the artwork, to the bed, to the sheets, to the showers -- just truly everything felt luxurious while at the same time, comfortable and natural. The entire property just felt so serene and magical. We had 2 families renting out both the Banyan House, Mango House, and Bamboo Suite. It was perfect. Everyone felt connected, but there was still plenty of space for privacy and seclusion. There's no doubt I will be a repeat guest at The Last Resort. read more

Unforgettable stay! My family and I rented this property for a family reunion and I can't say enough great things about Big Island Last Resort. From pre-check in conversations on local recommendations to the property itself, it by far exceeded all expectations. From the Banyan house, you can watch the sun rise from the front porch and the sun set over the water from the back porch, there's more than enough space for 15 people to relax, eat and socialize. You can tell that the hosts put in a lot of thought to the renovation they've recently completed- it's beautiful inside and out, very clean and extremely comfortable beds! As far as hosts go, you won't find a better one than Anna Ruth- she was SO responsive and helpful with recommendations on things to do in nearby towns and beaches. We also utilized the concierge service for grocery purposes, making our check in/settling in even easier. I couldn't recommend this property more and we can't wait to return for our next vacation! read more

Banyan House at The Last Resort is the perfect relaxing vacation spot. Our family of three came and stayed with another family of three and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location is both intimate and gracious. Wide porches upstairs and down offer multiple seating areas for socializing, getting lost in a good book, or catching up on emails. We loved the soundtrack of birdsong, soft ocean surf, and the rustle of palm fronds. The attention to detail was evident from the high-end and modern decor to the well-appointed kitchen. We love to cook and the kitchen is stocked with everything we needed from All-Clad Stainless cookware to two dishwashers, a six-burner professional-grade stove, and an espresso machine. The very helpful concierge arranged a fabulous on-site massage that was followed by a rinse in the delightful outdoor shower. The owners paid a lot of attention to the aesthetics down to the beautiful, burled wood stairs. You can feel the love they've put into the property. read more

Our stay in the Banyan House at The Last Resort was nothing short of magical. The remote and beautiful location gave us a relaxing retreat before and after our days of adventure on the island. Morning coffee overlooking gorgeous greenery, the ocean, with a cool breeze. Nightly wine on that same lanai before going to sleep to the soothing sounds of frogs and insects singing. The house had every little detail you could ever want and felt like true paradise. Highly recommend adding a massage during your stay as well! We also used the grocery service through their concierge and check out those macadamia banana pancakes we enjoyed on the lanai. Prepared with carefully chosen local groceries in an amazing gourmet kitchen. And the outdoor shower.....amazing. This felt like an authentic experience on the Big Island and one that we can't wait to repeat! read more

We can't recommend choosing The Last Resort- Banyan House as your home away from home while in Hawai'i enough!! The house is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished with everything you might need. The beds are incredibly comfortable and we slept great every night with the doors open to enjoy the coastal breeze. Waking up to the sunrise on the Banyan tree and ocean sets the scene for each day. Walking around the property you can find fresh mangoes to enjoy with breakfast. The Last Resort is an easy driving distance from beautiful beaches, hikes and there are plenty of opportunities to support locals/Hawaiians at farmers markets in Waimea and local shops such as galleries. The hosts at The Last Resort were very nice and helpful. This is a great option for family vacations and groups of friends. It will be hard to leave! read more

Our first trip to The Last Resort will not be our last! The Mango house is furnished beautifully. The upper-level sleeping porch is a refuge providing a great night's sleep. Cooking in the Mango house is breeze due to the amazingly well stocked culinary kitchen. Our family enjoyed eating fresh mangos each morning for breakfast! Kona coffee on the covered porches is blissful. Leave your bath products at home! You will not need them! Cotton robes are provided. The indoor & outdoor showers and soaking tub provide a spa like experience with a natural backdrop of lush vegetation. Great Internet!!! Books, board games & puzzles are available. Awesome stay at the Mango House. Was perfect for our family of two parents and four adult children. Jesse and Madeline were awesome hosts. It was very nice to get away from all the commercialized stuff in the resorts. Mango House provides the perfect place to relax and get away. Good restaurants in Kapaau and Hawi were nice to visit. We also did the Summit and Stars tour along with skydiving at Big Island Gravity(BIG) nearby. Truly an epic vacation with lots of lasting memories made!! read more

The Banyan+Bamboo Combo was perfect for our Thanksgiving family vacation. My husband and I (the grandparents) took the Bamboo Suite and while our kids and grandkids slept in the upstairs Banyan bedrooms. It was the perfect amount of space and privacy for all of us. We loved sharing meals in the kitchen and on the beautiful outdoor dining table. And I have the sweetest memories of the kids playing boardgames on the lanai and watching them swing from the Banyan tree. Highly recommend using The Last Resort's concierge services, too. It was nice to arrive to a stocked pantry and refrigerator, and the private masseuse who came on site was the best massage I've ever had. read more

Mango is beautifully furnished/appointed w/ TONS of upgrades. We loved the cool breezes day/night, peaceful views from the wrap-around porch & big windows, and the spacious grounds with abundant vegetation/flora. After daytime adventures, we especially appreciated the comfy beds & quality linens. The spa bath (2x shower & "smart" toilet) PLUS 2 fabulous outdoor showers & a stunning outdoor soaking tub made for luxury bathing! Top notch bath linens/bath products provided! Kitchen/dining areas are spacious with A++ appliances, cookware, dishes, linens...! Pantry basics (and more) provided! Close by: groceries, artisan shops, cafes, produce, fresh fish/food trucks.
