    The dryers and folding tables.

Going to the laundromat is always a chore. The smell of it and the fact that I don't have to throw my oversized blankets or floor rugs into my own washer or dryer is about the only reason I traverse to such a place. HOWEVER! This new one that's conveniently only 2 blocks from my house is pretty bad ass, if I do say so myself! It's kept very clean (although it just opened a month ago), it's equipment is all brand new and the staff is awesome! I was greeted by both employees Patrick who was leaving and Vera who was coming in, (apparently I came during a shift change) and was offered to be entered in their weekly $150 laundry card drawing along with being given a chip for some free ice cream at Culvers across the street! Their grand opening also offers free dryers and Tide soap (weird, but awesome) this Sunday! Their prices are a TAD steep, but they're on top of things! They put a cart in front of your washer as they go around (which are also all new and shiny) to make sure that loading is easy and pick up anyone's mess that dirty people leave. They also monitor your belongings as you bumble around to keep an eye out for thieves and OFFER (you don't have to ask) to help with the automated selections for your washing and drying needs! They've got bags, soap, softener, snacks, and pop available, too! It's so nice to see such helpful people floating around and such a clean facility! Far cry from what I'm used to long ago!

Unless I want to do several continuous loads, that means using huge laundromat washers Suds has two massive washers. One was apparently out of order. The coin receptor on the other jams so badly, it may as well have been labeled out of order as well. Even the attendant gives up on it and refunds my money with an apology and a suggestion to use the next largest washer drum. The machine was already fully loaded with items and detergent, if course, so this made for an amusing - and very messy - swap. Tons of powder soap end up on the floor in front of both original and smaller machine. The attendant had stated he'd return the amount he and I had gotten through jamming into the first machine as well as give me a single-size soap packet to make up for what I put into the mess. In returning with the cash and seeing my large containers of detergent, he notes this and says he guesses I don't need the soap after all. Heads up: Customer service isn't about whether the guest has enough to cover your mistakes as a business - it's about taking responsible for bumps in your operation and their consequences. I jokingly muse that I could drop a note in the suggestion box, and the attendant dryly responds - Steve would never fix it. Or upgrade to coinless operations to make life much easier for his guests. Well, that's comforting. It's okay, there are plenty of laundromats that not only would, they have long provided that service. Oh, and while waiting on my washer, I spotted another guest having to unload a dryer to move his items to the next one over - because the coin receptor on it was jamming as well. Nice. Irony that in leaving this spot, I drop in on a lovely, clean laundromat down the way that I'll definitely be visiting next time I have blankets to wash. So thanks for that!

I've been coming to this laundromat about once or twice a month for the past year. The main reasons…read morebeing it's close to where I live and it has a dog washing area. My routine when doing laundry here is always the same: I park on the side, go in to exchange $20 for quarters, then head back out to grab my laundry. Today, while finishing up at the change machine, the woman sweeping the floor not only hovered nearby but actually bumped into my feet with her broom. I didn't say anything at that point, as that is minor and could have been an accident. I walked toward the side door to get my things from the car. A couple of steps after I passed her, she loudly announced that the quarters were for laundromat use only and that the coin machines had signs indicating this. The assumption behind her comment and the way she delivered it caught me off guard. If she had simply asked whether I'd be doing laundry, I would've answered yes without issue and she'd have seen me bringing all my things in. But after hoovering, physically bumping into me with the broom and then speaking to me with that rude tone, it felt unnecessarily confrontational. I defended myself, making it clear that I was going to bring my dirty laundry in and that I did not appreciate her tone or accusation. They really push customers to use their app to pay for things and while that might be their preference, I have had bad experiences with laundry pay apps in the past and choose to keep it coin based. If they don't want people using quarters (or I guess potentially taking quarters?) then they should eliminate that option. I've supported this business but being treated with suspicion and discourtesy has made me seriously reconsider whether I want to continue coming here. Today I couldn't get past what happened and choose to take the quarters and leave rather than fester in my anger while waiting for my laundry to wash and dry.
