There are about 12-13 kids in his class and somehow each drop off and pick up feels personal to us. The teachers are so focused on each child's individual needs and we feel very supported as a new family at LILA.

It was our first choice, and the last few months of her enrollment have only reinforced our decision to enroll her. I was familiar with the rigors of the French academic system as well as the IB program, and this was something we really wanted for our child. It's a very different and richer experience than most American schools. "Diversity" has become narrowly defined. But the international diversity of the students' families is unmatched at other SoCal schools. Yes, many French and Western European family's, as might be expected. But we have families in our class from Asia, Africa and the Middle East, for example. My five year old is already correcting my French (which is admittedly terrible!) and she loves the school and it's the emphasis on language and expression. The teachers are patient and supportive and providing a good balance between structure and flexibility.

It is a place where children…read moreare truly seen, families are embraced, and community is built with extraordinary love and intention. When our family moved to Los Angeles in 2017, SLCC was one of the first communities we chose. During our tour of the beautiful school on Commonwealth, Chiara passionately shared her vision for early childhood education. By the end, my older daughter, Hero, had hidden in a closet because she "never wanted to leave." So began a relationship spanning both of my daughters' preschool years and became one of the most meaningful parts of our family's life in Los Angeles. Both of my daughters were loved, nurtured, understood, and encouraged to become fully themselves at SLCC. The teachers genuinely know each child, honoring their individual personalities, respecting their feelings, nurturing their creativity, and giving them the confidence to explore, express themselves, and form lasting friendships. SLCC also became our anchor in a new city. We found an inclusive, loving community and friendships that have continued long beyond the classroom. It never felt like simply a school we attended. It became family. If you want a preschool where your child will be deeply cared for, creatively inspired, and welcomed into a truly special community, SLCC is an extraordinary place. Choosing it was one of the best decisions we ever made.

Chiara and her team created such a warm, joyful, and nurturing place for our little one. The love…read moreand care we received has been such a gift. Highly recommend!

Camelot rents out for parties on weekends, and from what I understand, the base fee is pretty reasonable, and you can add on from a whole menu of entertainment options. We went for a 5th birthday and it was a pretty ideal venue, with tons of space, all of it outdoors. There was a covered area with tables for food and drink and cake time, as well as a huge playground with lots of equipment. I tend to judge kid party venues by how little I have to watch my own kid, and this one was top tier, safe and confined. Well, except for the train ride, which felt kind of wild, but was also my son's favorite part of the party. I guess Camelot works with a company that brings a mini-train for parties, and the kids went nuts for it. I stood in the parking lot watching that train loop around for a full hour, swerving and doing donuts to make the children giggle and scream and occasionally break out in tears. My son rode it something like ten times. He spent the rest of the time running around the playground, with brief, emotional interludes for cake and piñata (he was absolutely terrible at picking up piñata candy, just the slowest little guy, with my genes imprisoning his whole body). We stayed for three hours, and he did not want to leave. I don't know how Camelot Kids is as a pre-school (though if you have any appetite for gossip, you will not be sorry to read this: https://www.jezebel.com/the-story-and-nightmare-emails-behind-one-elite-silver-1741632103), but we were happy to visit for an afternoon. If you're looking to host a party for small children, it's definitely worth checking out.

During, they also checked in with us and asked if we wanted help using the speakers or turning on the bubble machine. The venue itself was very cute. The playground was spacious, and the kids enjoyed every nook and cranny. The other parents were also happy with the location and everyone had a fun time.

When I arrived for my visit, the director, Sakina, was hoisting a palate of strawberries from her car that she had bought from the farmers market for the kids' snack. From day one, our family felt welcomed and supported by Sakina and her colleagues and the parents at the school. Our daughter is thriving and we see every day how this loving community has contributed to her growth and development. The school has two beautiful classrooms with large glass windows/doors and a serene courtyard. One parent on Yelp commented about uneven pavement and I'm not sure I understand that. The space is perfectly safe (as well as clean and beautiful) for children to run around--I certainly wouldn't have sent my 2-year-old daughter to the school if I had any concerns. The teachers are extremely engaged and loving and I've watched them on a daily basis help kids to learn how to communicate and resolve conflict. Overall, the school is an absolute gem and I am so glad that we became part of this wonderful community. Our family is forever grateful for the marvelous work by Sakina, Vanessa, Michelle, and Romaline.
