The course is so pure. it's the least expensive of all the pebble beach links and has incomparable ocean views. With the ncga membership it's even cheaper. The day wasn't sunny just overcast which was perfect for golf, breezy but not too much wind. No driving range so it was a little tough to warm up but the putting and chipping greens are great. The course is so well kept and very different from most of the other courses in NorCal. Simply put, you have to know what to expect beforehand with links golf. The greens are very hard like an 11 probably, rolls and bounces a lot so leave it short a lot. The yardage book is super helpful here, gives an overview of each hole and an idea of how to play it. The guy in the front hooked it up with one for us on the house. The ocean is ripping in the background of all the first like 7 holes then the ones inside holes in the forest are also beautiful. I think like 14/18 holes have ocean views. It's iconic. The grass doesn't have any dry patches. It's immaculate. The cards don't come with divot sand fillers though. The gift shop is pricey but the items are great quality and you'll only get so many chances in life to play pebble. PS I'm just a spectator my boyfriend is the one who plays and teaches me all these things hes played spy glass several times in tournaments and said this one is even better. 5 stars! happy golfing! We'll be back.

Close call! Thanks for the warning before I took a straw to the toilet bowl for a nice refresh! Concern:what caused this sign install

Ok, I don't golf, but this place is notable for hosting some of the monarchs that have flown over from the reserve. I heard a rumor of a swarm by the driving range and was able to see some butterflies. Some places you will not be allowed to go, but the monarchs were by the bushes and trees that were nearer to the road, so it's all good. Down by the parking lot, facing the road, is a public bathroom. It is vital that you read the sign in the attached pix.

Beautiful course--top five that I've had the opportunity to play in my lifetime. Spanish Bay is a well-designed course architecturally; there is not a lot of room to miss off the tee, but most of the greens are bigger (really hilly--you don't want to be on the wrong tier) as you would expect for a links style course. Even better than the hole layouts are the scenic views that accompany this course. You can see the Pacific Ocean on at least 14/18 holes, with a few of the holes gracefully cutting through the Del Monte Forest (No. 10 is my favorite). Staff at the pro shop, restaurant, and cart garage were all very friendly and were part of a great experience! Side notes: 1) If you're planning to hit range balls, Spanish Bay does not have a driving range--you'll have to visit the Pebble Beach Practice Academy, which is about a 15 minute drive from Spanish. 2) Each night, Spanish Bay hosts a live bagpiper that walks up and back on hole two. The bagpiper usually begins around 5:30-5:45 and plays for about an hour. Sticks, the restaurant at Spanish Bay, has a nice outdoor patio that's a great viewing spot for the performance.

I would recommend Spanish Bay as a must play once, but given the price and other options in the area I would recommend Spyglass Hills or Poppy Hills and suggest making the walk down 7mile drive for the same view but free...

Great 18 hole. Our Caddie Ruben was really nice and friendly. He gave us an accurate reading on the greens. They were fast and maintained pretty well. It is located beautifully overlooking the ocean along 17 mile drive. The pro shop was helpful and nice. Jeff was great.

Nice course, great views of the ocean. Make sure to hit the fairways as it can be challenging finding your ball in the rough. Winds play a big part in the afternoons but overall a challenging course.

Picture this: a group of 35+ friends, all in one spot, and the drinks are flowing like a river of joy. From the moment we arrived, it was a taco-tastic adventure. We devoured those delicious tacos like we hadn't eaten in weeks--because who can resist the siren call of tacos? And let's not forget the churro donuts. Yes, you heard that right: donuts that are as true as your best friend who always shows up with snacks. The patio area is an absolute gem, perfect for a fun-loving crowd. With fire pits ablaze, it felt like we were in a cozy, outdoor living room--if your living room had a full bar and a taco stand, of course. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the overhead lights flickered on, transforming the space into a lively wonderland. It was like a glow-up, but for a patio! The bartenders were nothing short of superheroes, serving drinks faster than we could say "more tacos, please!" ‍ In short, our time at Tipsy putt was nothing short of legendary. If you want a place where laughter flows as freely as the drinks and tacos, this is it. We left with full bellies and even fuller hearts--a recipe for an incredible evening! So, if you're in Monterey and looking to party like it's your birthday (even if it's not), grab your crew and get to Tipsy Putt. How private? 1100 members and you can only play if you are a member (must be invited) or invited as a guest. Now I have played MPCC , Spyglass, Pebble (twice) , Cypress and Poppy. If you are fortunate to play this course, the Dunes is actually the more prestigious over the Ocean/Shore course. Most members walk with a push cart. Although I am used to carrying my own bag, I am glad I used a push cart. Our round started at 11am and ended at almost 3pm on the dot. The course has likely the most undulating greens I have ever played, so bring your short game and be prepared for 3 putts. As a middle handicapper I highly recommend playing the blue tees. The white tees were probably a little too close for me. I played true to my 17 handicap bogeying every hole except the 18 handicap signature 14th hole. The amenities were all there. Tees, ball markers, balls, score cards, water, towels, etc. They even had golf carts available on the 11th hole in case you were running late or got tired and wanted to ride the rest of the way. If you are knit-picking the only bad part is a restaurant that isn't available til the 12th hole or someone driving around with a food cart. Some points of note. There is no signage telling you what hole you are on so it is good to be playing with a member. Covid protocols are in place so it is wise to bring ID and vaccination. No shorts or jeans are allowed. Pants and collared shirts are required and the shirts must be tucked in. Women must also wear gear that goes to the calf. My friend's wife was wearing expensive designer jeans and even she knew to go inside and buy a whole new wardrobe for the day. The course was well manicured and one of the most naturally beautiful courses I have ever played. All the staff were exceptional, friendly, and attentive.

I attended his three-day academy last April, where each day began with about two hours of instruction focused on my goals and key golf fundamentals, followed by nine holes on the course with Brad to put those lessons into practice. Brad is especially skilled at adapting his teaching style when something is not clicking. When I struggled, he moved easily between different explanations, strategies, and learning approaches until the concept made sense. With a few simple, easy-to-execute changes to my setup and grip, he helped me add twenty to thirty yards to all of my longer clubs. My short game improved even more. The wedge strategies he taught helped me get more out of my shots, land closer to the pin, and shorten my path to the hole. The on-course component was one of the most valuable parts of the academy. It exposed me to all aspects of the game and helped me understand how the individual pieces fit together in real playing conditions. I started as a mid-handicapper hoping to stay under 100; now I am working to stay under 90, which is a major improvement and still a work in progress. If you are looking to refine your golf game, improve your fundamentals, and learn in a supportive environment, I highly recommend Brad and his Monterey Bay Golf Academy.

Although it's on the Del Monte Forest side and no Ocean holes, the course is still beautiful and challenging with a mix of long and shorter holes, with sloping fairways, lots of bunkers, and difficult greens where you need to be strategic on approach shots, so it helps to play here a few times to get used to them. The course was in terrific shape today and pace was very good...finishing in a 4.5 hour round despite our group having lost a few balls along the way in the woods or thick native areas. I will say there were a few changes since I last played and I didn't remember it having so many waste bunkers everywhere the last time I came, which was at least 7 years ago. Although many people walk, I enjoyed having a cart because it's a rolling course and it can be quite a walk on a few holes to the next tee. I do wonder why they still don't have GPS on their carts. I would also suggest that they add some EV car chargers in the parking lot. Many of us drive 2 hours or more to get here so it would be a nice touch to be able to charge up the car a bit during a round, or while having a beverage or two in Porters before hitting the road! It's been too long since I last visited and I won't wait that long again for sure!

Theoretically, most people will probably get the membership for discounts at Spyglass and Spanish Bay, but Del Monte is a nice, laid back type of place for when you want a different vibe than the courses in the Pebble Beach area - to me I probably wouldn't drive a few hours to go play there for $130 but with the Duke's it's $56-72. The condition is still very good, but you'll just see a lot more weeds in the rough - this is pretty intentional by design and I actually can't believe this is the oldest golf course in operation west of the Mississippi River. In general, stay out of the rough as it grabs your clubs. It can also be difficult to find balls if you lose it in the rough. Sand is firm and takes well to shorter swings. Some green complexes have shelves so your approach needs to hit the right portion of the green. Food wise there's usually one person taking orders and running out the food and bussing tables (which they shouldn't as you should definitely bus your own table due to the available large trash bins and tray return). In other words, you may have to wait a few minutes before they return to the counter to take your order. Food is okay - smash burger was tasty but the bun is too soft and was a soggy mess. The chicken curry salad sandwich could use a little more curry powder but was definitely a way better experience than the smash burger. The person driving the beverage truck didn't even stop to ask if we wanted anything. I was sizing up my shot and they sped past before I could get a chance to flag them down. Overall, a good stop to use your Duke's club benefits (credit for food/beverage, discounted green fees, free round of golf for you and guest including cart, guest passes) and affordable with a relaxing vibe.
