A group of us bought the "Bakers Dozen"... 13 rounds of golf for $420 = $32 per round to walk), you can play on Saturdays and Sundays AND they never expire. We couldn't be happier. It's about a 5.5 mile walk, 1100 or so steps and about 1000 calories burned. We will all renew first chance we get. read more

Brought my 13 year old son for his first round of golf and the staff were all incredibly nice and supportive. We rented clubs (very reasonable price) and went out at super twilight, nobody behind us which allowed me to really take my time to help my son learn etiquette and the game of golf. The course itself was in wonderful shape, VERY well taken care of and the greens especially. read more

Ok guys and gals, don't hate me for this review but here goes...my girlfriend and I came up to the peninsula to celebrate an anniversary and played some golf. Today we played here and we got matched up with John, a guy who works at the course. Super friendly, affable guy who helped us with some tips on where to hit on certain holes...well, as it turns out, I aced #11!! My first hole in one ever, and I'm on my 64th trip around the sun...John waltzed me into the pro shop afterwards and they printed a certificate of my accomplishment and awarded me with a color appropriate pin flag to commemorate the occasion. The group in the pro shop were enthusiastic and made me feel like a million bucks. Thanks John and thanks Monterey Pines for an amazing experience! read more

Terrific ... Golf can have some middle class snobbery associated with it so I am always nervous to play courses in the area for this reason... On arriving the staff were warm and welcoming and the greens were impeccable (some of the best maintained I have ever played). Heck, I even got invited by another 2 ball to play with them (retired military couple visiting) that made the game an absolute pleasure... I went back with 3 other chaps a week or so later, same friendly nature, same impeccable course.... HIGHLY recommended and I am 100% sure I will be using this course on a regular basis ! ... Yesterday we went to Monterey Pines at 4:45pm to practice at the golf range. Their times online states that they close at 7pm, yelp states they close 8pm, but we were aware that times may vary due to the change of seasons. The last time we visited, we were informed of this that they closed at 6:15 so we kept that in mind. When we went inside the pro shop, we were informed that we had an hour to practice, which was plenty of time for us and ordered 2 large buckets of golf balls (~200 balls). As soon as we set our bag down at the range, an older gentleman came by, asked if were going to finish all those balls, and before leaving rushed to say that we had 30 minutes to play. We were confused, and after 5 minutes, he comes back notifying all of us (other players) that we had 15 minutes, then strolls off with his cart. At this point we felt rushed. The man returns again a couple minutes later stating we had 5 minutes left. 5 minutes after, the guy collecting balls comes by and said we had another 5 minutes. In the end, out of the 200 balls we only got to play around 40 balls because the older gentleman yelled "times up, gotta go". Whatever it was, it looked like he was eager to go home badly. In total, we played for 25 minutes. There was definitely a miscommunication among the employees, but had it been clear in the beginning, we wouldn't have purchased the buckets in the first place and instead just left. It felt like they were money-grabbing us since as soon as we paid, they want to rush us out and go home. At the end, we expressed our concerns to the manager and in return he offered us a half-bucket for the next time we come in again. If yelp had a zero-star option, it would be going towards the outside employees for the disorganized times and rushing customers out. However, the one star individually goes to the manager. read more

This review is for the grill. Though the course is scenic my experience with golf is watching others play and the grills. I'm here at 0715 and they are heating the grill but handed me a really, really good cup of coffee. The service is very good. I've ordered the breakfast deluxe of eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon. She brought it to the table and it's all very good. You can get the breakfast minus the meat or choose sausage or ham. They have other breakfast and lunch choices. The prices are reasonable especially for a golf course. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor table space. read more

First of all this isn't even a real golf course. This is basically a miniature golf course and not a good one at that. I never play this course because it has a horrible course design, it's not maintained well, and the pace of play is atrocious. I thought I would give it a try today. Made a last minute booking. I got to the course and realized I forgot my clubs. They were 10 minutes away. Neil at the pro shop was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Refused to let me run and grab my clubs and move to a slightly later tee time even though you could see numerous tee times available online. Total jerk. I knew I shouldn't have wasted my time at such a lousy course. Save your time and avoid this place. It's for beginners as it's an easy tiny course but it just creates bad habits anyways and you'll stay a beginner forever. Go to Del Monte or literally anywhere else in town instead. read more

Solid golf course and fun to play. It's obvious they are putting the time into maintenance, and some fairways were downright excellent. Regrettably, greens had been sanded recently, but still some challenging pin placements. At 0900 on a Thursday morning, course was very busy, and on our visit, it was very slow. Jets, planes and great golfing can be found at the Monterey Pines Golf Course. I recently played 18 holes and had a fun time playing this challenging course. Monterey Pines Golf Club is a par 69 that requires accuracy and a good strategy. There are undulating greens, elevated tees, R/L dog legs, water hazards, and sand traps protecting the greens. There is a driving range, a chipping green with bunker and a large putting green. MPGC is located adjacent an airport and you will experience planes and jets taking off and flying by when you play. I really had fun playing here and the grill, pro shop, and customer service was fantastic. Five Stars for MPGC. read more

I've played this course for years and look forward to another round. I prefer walking and this course is accommodating. Players are friendly and pace of play is reasonable. Last 18 hole round we walked and completed in under 4 hours. They have a nice driving range (matts). Get your code for the ball dispenser at the pro shop first or you'll get a few extra steps going back there. Enjoy. read more

Course was beautiful but staff was the worst. Asked the cook if he can grill the burrito or have it toasted and he said you'll get it how it's made. Secondly we had a Marshall follow us to every single hole. It felt like he was trying to rush us to an extreme extent. Very unprofessional & I feel like it was racial profiling. This little course is great. Everything was green and well taken care of. Better than Bayonet the day before and much cheaper. Played here last year and last week and same amazing little course. The only reason not 5 stars is the service people at check in. Not very friendly and over charged me and had to point it out they were wrong and explain it over and over before they got it. Formerly known as The Navy Golf Course. It was remodeled in 2009 and it is a short golf course that measures 5554 yards from the Championship Tees. The Par is 69. The green fees are around $40+/- for civilians. The green are absolutely amazing and the fairways are plush. The staff at the Golf Course are polite and professional. The pace of play is 4 hours or less. Carts are allowed on the fairways. read more

The cook at the grill (who wears no gloves) shouts at customers coming in the door to put on a mask. Meanwhile he keeps touching his own mask with his bare hands and keeps preparing food. Also note, they won't take cash payment, even for drinks out on the course. But they WILL take your cash tips. Interesting... In general, not a welcoming place for our company golf trip. read more

Tried to play there last week. Front nine closed due to maintenance. Back nine was being sanded. After 4 holes went back to the clubhouse to ask for either a refund or rain check. Was asked for my receipt. Never received a receipt. After looking through the trash cans no receipt was found. Took my bank receipt back a few days later and was still not given a refund. Will I recommend this place? I think not. read more

Great course well maintained. I left a wedge somewhere on the course and the cart attendant went out of his way to help. Even though it was close to closing time, he went completely around the course in his cart to find it. He was unable to find it but I got a call Friday night after 6 telling me that they found it and would hold it for me! It's September 2023, and the fairways and greens are in great shape. Never mind the repairs on the water hazards. Greens were in prime condition with very fast short grass. Our Saturday 8:20 tee time finished just under 4 hours. Great price for a very nice Navy/public course. Also note that all military courses in CA only accept credit cards, and no cash is standard. Beverage cart came by twice, beer and canned cocktail @ reasonable prices. If you're in Monterey and going to play the high dollar Pebble Beach circuit, I'd recommend using this course as your warm-up a day before. read more

The course is on the short side for long hitters, but it is in great shape. Well maintained. The customer service is the worst of any golf course I have ever played at. I've enjoyed playing at the Monterey Pines for several years now. The rates are great. During the twilight hours, you can find great deals for nine or eighteen holes for very low rates, and even steeper discounts if you're active duty or a DoD civilian. The course has underwent a recent redesign with more water hazards and tight dog-legs coming into the mix. The course can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities, from the beginner to the more advanced golfer looking to improve or fine tune their game. We have a great relationship with the golf pro, Sam. He's been a pleasure to work with and always ensures my group is well accommodated and taken care of. The golf course starter does a great job getting everyone off and running and is very friendly and courteous. The Grill serves up some delicious grub. The quesadilla, chicken sandwich and the fries are all tasty. The menu consists of standard grill favorites like custom-buildable burgers, hot dogs, nachos and club sandwiches. Perfect for golfers looking for a great golf experience at an affordable price. Can't wait to come back to play and eat. read more

I really need to do 2 reviews but Yelp doesn't work that way. Golf there was "wonderful". The course was in great shape, my game not so much. The other parts of the review is the Pro Shop, on course refreshments and the clubhouse. Pro Shop is wonderful, there is no on course refreshments and the clubhouse is ok. My club sandwich was good but some points off for burnt bread. I do recommend coming here. And if there is music happening st the fairgrounds you can hear it from the clubhouse. read more

Pro Shop has a few rude attendants but marshals and other authorities are pretty patient and persuasive all in one. This is a public course and for the area the prices are fitting to be public, but still on the higher end. The twilight times posted near the driving range did not coincide with the twilight times the pro shop gave me over the phone. Pish-posh, calling was and is the best thing to do, anyway. Two weeks ago we had a cart with GPS. This week we were assigned a brand new cart without GPS, so wait as they must be installing them soon. People do walk this course, many people. It is a slower course and there are some holes that cause congestion. Hold up is usually on the green as yes they are a little fast. Heed caution upon hole 15 as it turns and runs parallel to the driving range. I know I've hit a ball or two onto that fairway and I could see them dropping as we looked for our ball on the fairway! Good thing I was using a marked white ball. Its a good practice course because you are exposed to the many distracting and game disabling factors such as the temperamental weather, unpredictable greens, and definitely players of all levels. Like I said it is a public course so dress code is not strict. read more

Great price, nice course but too many tee times makes for a packed course. We went there to play as a family. Had to wait for the group ahead of us. The two civilians with their rented clubs behind us complained they had to wait for us which caused the manager to tell us to play through to keep the pace going. Ended up still having to wait for the two groups ahead of us. We can't play if the people ahead of us aren't done. Rules state no carts on the greens but once out of range all the carts are on the fairway. Seemed to be mismanaged, we ended up getting a refund because there was so many people playing. They really need to close it to civilians, then Maybe it would t be so crowded. Oh yeah and get new management. read more
