As advertised, they were in fact able to accommodate me without an appointment. The salon itself is super cute with a lot of shabby chic decor -- a bit of an Etsy upcycled look to it. After about a 30 minute wait, I was introduced to my stylist, Kim Curling. Kim asked several intake questions about my hair, my daily routine, and my preferences before starting. Typically, I'm hard pressed to find a stylist who doesn't cut my hair too short on the first try -- but Kim did an excellent job staying in my comfort window. She also was very helpful by introducing me to a new styling product that is amazingly low maintenance, helps maintain my curls, and doesn't make my hair stiff as a board! Overall, it was a good experience. In terms of my star rating -- I went with four because it was an expensive endeavor ($80+), and for that price, it didn't come with spa perks that I've come to expect at that price level (aromatherapy, skin/scalp treatments, complimentary tea/coffee, etc.). It's a nice little place though and I wouldn't hesitate to get my hair done here again if I was in the area!

New location, new job, why not a new cut? I sat on the chair and Robbie asked what I wanted. I replied, "I want something different, but I am not sure what. Can you just do something for me that will compliment my face?" Without any hesitation or a thought, he knew what to do. Before he cut my hair, he did tell me what he was going to do and even though I couldn't see what he was seeing, I trusted him. As he was cutting away, I kept seeing my hair, piling up on the floor. It was like 5 inches and a lot of it just flying off of my head. I started to regret my decision. Once he was done cutting, I told him not to worry about drying my hair since it was raining really hard, but he refused and said that we needed to see what my hair was going to look like. He dried it and also curled my hair to give it extra volume. I think I lost 5 pounds after he cut my hair, but to be honest, I absolutely loved my hair cut! After years of having the same hair cut/style, I actually felt like a new person. Weird, right? I felt younger, looked younger, and the look was fun and modern. Julea, the owner, is a very caring, attentive professional, but she is also a very beautiful human being inside and out. I did ALOT of research on where to go for a realistic look. I have seen many bad eyelash jobs....There are a ton of things you need to keep in mind before getting extensions. First, and most important is who you choose to apply them. Finding the right person to do your lash extensions is a lot like choosing a tattoo artist, or a hairstylist, or cosmetic surgeon: There are a lot of bad ones out there, so it's worth doing your research to find the good. I asked around to who my friends were going to, and what their experience was like. I did not want a deal or a Groupon. In the end, you get what you pay for, which brings me to my second piece of advice: Be careful if you're looking for deals. Lash extensions are a lot easier to screw up than they are to get right. I have many friends who have had badly done extensions which tear out your real lashes and can cause infection. I was a little apprehensive about crying throughout the entire session, and the thought of someone being all up in my tear ducts makes me tear up just thinking about it. BUT I barely knew it was happening. There I was, flat on my back, while Julea took a seat above my head. I couldn't even feel her separating each lash with her tweezers and gluing a longer lash onto it. The whole process of giving me a full set took about two and a half hours. She said most people fall asleep during the procedure which shows just how noninvasive it is - I was nervous and she was just the right amount of chatty and quiet to keep my nerves still. I showed up at Salon Bella Mia, with pretty low expectations, and was I ever wrong. This place is amazing. All of the stylists and the owner were all so warm and helpful. I can't express the instant bond and trust that was created with Brenda. I showed her two different looks I was thinking about and she steered me towards the one she knew would work best with my hair in the condition it was in. After spending time with her, she is a great new friend. I was there for a while and when the ladies were planning their lunch, they included me. I have NEVER had anyone that worked in a salon do that. Sure they all offer coffee and water, but these ladies went the extra mile. Yes, I will go back.
