Today, April 26th, my 5 year old daughter had a class from 1:50-2:40. I was trying to park and I was 3 minutes late. I saw my daughter coming outside unattended in a very busy car park!!! This is totally unacceptable that there was no one to supervise her and it is unsafe. I called the Little gym and I requested to the staff that this can not happen again but the staff member just hung up on me without reassuring that this won't happen again. Had my child's birthday party there. I was quoted $500 for 1,5 hours party. It is expensive, but it was convenient for me. When they call to confirm a week before the party and run the final number by me they included 15% tip which added up to another $80. They are charging about $340 an hour and still want a tip, I hope with this rate they pay their workers well? That is not including any food or drinks, just generic plates and tablecloth. I voiced my disagreement for mandatory tip and they removed it. We ended up tipping anyway at the end of the party, but including a tip without first mentioning it at initial phone call was wrong. read more

Your child's safety is not a priority. My 3 year old son was left unsupervised in the bathroom with chemicals and now has permanent damage to his eyes. He was exposed to chemicals at the beginning of the class, was allowed to continue to go unsupervised to the bathroom 2 more times after first notifying his teachers and crying about his eye. He was using 80% alcohol hand sanitizer instead of soap and then not drying his hands. Then he would touch his face and eyes. Pretty hard to believe any parent or persons would approve of a 3 year old to be left unsupervised in a bathroom with a bottle of hand sanitizer. Once they realized that a toxic chemical was in his eye, they took him to another room to not disturb the rest of the class of course. Gave him a warm wet paper towel and a cold paper towel to clean off his eye, then they held ice packs on his eye while he screamed for his father. Due to COVID we cannot enter the gym, so I wait in the parking lot. I was not contacted when he was injured within the first five minutes of the class starting, I was not contacted when they knew he put a toxic chemical in his eye, I only found out about his injury when I picked him up and he was screaming crying. Simple questions I asked: do you have an eyewash station (required by law so rhetorical) but they answered "yes". Did you use it on him? "No the 2 paper towel treatments we performed contained water" So imagine picking up your just turned 3 child, who is blood curdling screaming in pain about his eyes and an adult caretaker gives you that response. So how do they take care of your most treasured asset. Completely allow them to be unsupervised, if they get injured, don't contact the parents but pull them into a side room let them cry it out and hope the injury goes away by the time the get picked up. Also, ignore any common sense treatments because an ice pack cures all injuries. My son now has permanent vision loss. The rest of his life has now changed because I chose this place for a gym class. If as a parent you feel you can sleep peacefully with knowing your decision could have a permanent negative impact on your child's life than this is your gym. read more

Terrible experience! Came here for a friend's daughter birthday party. The room was sooo cold and they do not allow kids to wear socks. Note, instructors do wear socks. The floor of the gym was ice cold and poor kids had their feet freezing off. We've been to many kids places and not one had a problem with kids wearing socks. When we brought up the issue to the woman who was leading the party, she was plain rude. The way she was talking left everyone feel very uncomfortable. I understand that there might be insurance requirements for kids not to wear socks or management requirements to keep the room a certain temperature, but there are diffident ways to respond to clients. Being rude will not bring more customers, but will definitely add negative reviews. read more

Great place. Crummy location. A nice idea for kids (too bad this type of place wasn't around when I was a kid). There's a variety of programs there ranging from gymnastics to rock climbing. My son was enrolled in the summer "camp" program and had an awesome time each time he went. Place is a good size, with lots of activities to keep kids busy and entertained. The staff has always been friendly for the most part. It is pretty pricey as far as their programs and amount of time, but really no different than most places out there these days. If I had to make any complaints, it would be the area this location is in. Located in ritzy Scarsdale, some of the parents can be oblivious judgmental snobs (those that show, because there are a lot of nannies in this area that do the parenting for them who are noticeably friendlier). I'm not from this area thankfully, but plenty are - so you might encounter some rudeness from parents. Some of the kids can be a little spoiled and bratty as well, but it comes from the home and their unfortunate upbringing. Too bad this place isn't in a more diverse area, but it's really a minor complaint and not the Little Gym's fault at all other than renting there. Just too bad this is the only location that I know of in Westchester (the next closest would be Manhattan, but that can be inconvenient for those who don't live in Manhattan) . They'd probably do just fine if they opened up a few more - and that doesn't mean it has to be "upscale" locations, as it seems to be with this and other areas. Parking lot is sizable enough. Some of the cars zip through pretty fast, so use caution when walking with the little ones to and from your car. Overall a great experience for kids (and a break for parents at times, because they do a drop off program) and recommended. read more

We have enjoyed The Little Gym for approximately a year and a half. Once we aged out of "mommy and me" classes, my son wasn't truly ready to follow along in the class without significant amounts of redirection. I had discussed my concern with the director prior to enrolling and was assured it would be ok. Unfortunately, it wasn't. He was allowed to remain on his own (and sometimes out of sight), not participating for the majority of the class time. Redirection was simply shouting his name from across the room, while the music blared and over the noise of the other children- a method, that, while efficient, is largely ineffective. When a child is left for significant periods of time to their own devices, they find trouble; specifically undesirable behavior. In those instances, corrections were much more "personal" and occasionally resulted in removal from class. Had they redirected in the same manner they corrected, the problematic behaviors may have been less of an issue. I had offered to pay an additional staff member to attend the class solely for the purpose of redirecting more effectively while blending in with the class culture and was refused. I also offered to pay for private lessons and that wasn't something they could accommodate. I spoke of alternative strategies for redirection and follow through would last for a session or two and would then revert to the above mentioned. We couldn't continue the program in good conscience. read more

I am a moderately bored stay-at-home mom, and to keep us busy I've been to most of the music, dance, gymnastics, gymboree, mommy and me, etc, etc. class/program in northern and lower Westchester. I have to say that I think the Little Gym is one of the best ones for a child like my son (age 20 months). He loves to climb, jump, run, tumble. He willl never sit in a circle and sing songs, doesn't always like to listen and wont usually particiapte in a class with too much structure. The best thing about the Little Gym is that there is enough time buit into the class to allow my toddler some freedom, in addition to having some group activities so he starts learning how to particiapte. I think a lot of the credit has to go to the instructor (Claudia) who is entertaining, fun and has a resonable approach to dealing with toddlers. The Little Gym is moderately priced - not the most or least expensive program out there. The spae itself is clean and safe. They also have a nice online class booking system which I found easy to use. My only (gentle) criticism of them is that they dont have a great open gym schedule and its not particularly well advertised. But with limited space, I guess the classes take precedence. read more

My friend and I hosted our sons 3rd birthday here today! I can't say enough positive things about the experience! From booking to clean up, the process was seamless. The staff was OUTSTANDING AND FUN! Our boys had such a great time! The price was very reasonable and included paper goods, drinks and pizza for 12 kids and we could easily add more on. The gym was clean (VERY CLEAN). The activities were age appropriate, each child was able to be involved! Thank you Little Gym for everything!! **not sharing photos for privacy of children. Love this place!!! My daughter went here and we realized the coaches were awesome. When it came time for my son to go, who has some delays, we were hesitant. After my eye spoke to them, they reassured her they have seen it before and thought it would be good for him. Well, needless to say after a few classes of having to be in there with him Coach Nika(hope I spelled it right) took him by the hand and told me to walk out. However good I thought this place was before, it became even better!!! Coach Nika took Christopher and guided him through everything as if he was her own!!!! Julie asks for Coach Claudia when we are not even there, Coach Morgan and John are amazing. Just wanted to give everyone an update. I went here for a kids party and the two people that worked the party were so much fun and very nice. They really knew how to interact with children. Much Much better experience this time around than i did the first few times with the other gentleman that used to teach the classes. Came here for a birthday party. This place does not allow kids to wear socks. Its 25 degrees outside, and it looks like they do not adjust their thermostat. Besides the space being cold, the floors were freezing. Even we, adults, had our feet froze off. After touching my daughter's feet, I decided to put the socks on her, non slip socks. The loud lady who works here (she was wearing socks) came up to us right away and just kept yelling "NO SOCKS". To my argument that the floors are freezing and if she thinks its warm enough she shouldn't wear socks either then. Its NY winter, kids are getting sick right and left without "the extra" instances of their feet being cold for a long period of time. She just got furious and claimed to be an adult, that's why she doesn't have to wear socks. Good argument. I understand that they probably have insurance requirements, but there are ways to address it, like raising the temperature in the room, or sell nonslip special super non slip socks. Very unpleasant experience dealing with the staff here and I'm just hoping my two year old doesn't get sick. read more

Oh my goodness. I have no idea where the other reviews are coming from. Sounds like it's all from their family members to me. We recently enrolled and now stopped going for several factors: 1. Extremely unfriendly and not-kid appropirate staff members. If you are thinking about sending your little ones, think again and look at the attitudes and languages these people speak. 2. Their entry place is always so filthy smelly - as if they never take out their garbage. 3. Throughout the summer, they had a horrible AC or no AC situation. This place started off nice with my wife taking my child there 2 times a week.But things changed as the crew tgere became more interested in themselves instead of the kids.They are not trained properly to deal with all the kids personalities and needs.When questioned about this there response was very weak and unprofessional.Even towards the end when we requested a phone call to discuss this,they blatantly took there time and called back days later.Its bad business and should really be checked on by the owner or management or you will lose business.Your in the business of children act like it. read more

HIGHLY disappointed. I signed up the end of July for the rest of the quarter which was supposed to be until the end of August. (Charged a $45 registration fee on top of class fees) for a total of 5 classes. I was told when I signed up makeup classes "carry over" so I missed a few in august due to the high temps and in a not well air conditioned gym. My son is in the bugs class which is ONLY offered once a week. I was under the impression I can make up these so called carry over classes and apparently a huge part of the deal was left out when explained to me which is the classes can only be carried over if you sign up for the new quarter!! So I lost 3-4 classes due to the ridiculous lack of communication which is so unfair. I expressed my confusion and frustration about this and I was offered to do one makeup class. When I explained class was only once a week how can we make up classes? I was told other days were offered during the week (which I had no idea of & never received one email about) I was also told if I was going to miss I class I had to call and let someone know? I'm paying for classes and I have to let someone know I can't make the class? Bizarre rules & the most ridiculous part to be left out of sign up. I won't go back again as a customer. read more

This is a wonderful place for children to learn essential gymnastics, dance, and sports skills, as well as life skills to help them grow!! They have classes for everyone, as well as parent/child classes! The staff is personable, warm, and friendly while always willing to help. A wonderful place to have birthday parties too!!! It is a wonderful gym for kids: spacious room, sufficient equipment, comfortable area for parents to wait while watching kids through indoor window. The teachers are dedicated and fun. The group that my son attends is nice in size - around 10-11 kids on average. The only reason for 4 star review is the air quality in the waiting room. It started smell like Lysol or clorox with the start of cold season. Most kids friendly places have realized that air quality matters and kids are not supposed to breath with artificial fragrance or germ-killing substances. It is like taking antibiotics for no reason. The owners of Little Gym have yet to read the literature on this topic... Otherwise I am pretty happy with the Little Gym. but, alas, i will cancel membership in January ( you can cancel it either in September or January) There are other pretty great places for kids with safe air to breath in the area! read more

The place is fine and the kids enjoyed it. They didn't love it but they had some fun (7 and 5 years old boy). It isn't a huge place. I would come back if it wasn't for the terrible customer service. The gymnastic teachers were friendly, especially with the kids. The front desk were ok, not friendly or smiley but fine; no need to be extremely polite, just don't be impolite. The so called "director" though, was rude and clearly has no clue how to deal with customers. If you run a business you need to be flexible to work around customer's needs. My kids were attending the camp starting at 9am and I needed to drop them off sometime before that. On the first day, the front desk girl let me drop them off with no issues. I signed them in and left to work around 8:45. The next day the director was there and said I needed to stay until 9am sharp because I wasn't paying for any time before 9am. Her words were crystal clear: "You're paying from 9am to noon, so you need to hang out with them until 9am." I did stay until 9am but they are NEVER, EVER, getting my business again. EVER! I was thinking of making this a regular thing for the kids but she changed my mind instantly. There are many other places around offering the same service and I'd NOT recommend this place to anyone. I attended an intro class at this location and liked it very much - it's much nicer than Gymboree, and much cleaner. Unfortunately the class schedule is such that very few classes are offered on the weekend, so if you miss a class one weekend you have zero opportunity for a make up class, unless you don't work or can take time off during weekdays. And the open hours in the gym for free play aren't offered over the weekend either, apparently. Without open hours and no make-ups, the per class cost gets quite high. High school kids with no gymnastics certification are employed for cheap labour , there is no focus on students learning something but more about just spending time there running around with tone killers like what's your name games, some props show, time well wasted , I would rather go to ywca which is more professional and trained staff read more

The Little Gym of Scarsdale is the BEST!!! If we could give it more than 5 stars we would. We have been bringing our daughter here for almost 4 years. It is amazing to see how she has grown each week. What was once a challenge say the balance beam is now a piece of cake. More importantly is how AMAZING coach Claudia and staff are. They not only know what they are doing but you can tell they love what they are doing. Their have been many Saturday mornings I ask myself how does coach Claudia and staff have the energy and enthusiasm to do this but they are always running on all cylinders. My daughter loves this place and the coaches.We highly recommend this place!!! read more

The instructors are amazing with the kids. My daughter is only a year old and loves coming here. Loved their gymnastics classes for my daughter when she was younger and now my son, age 5, is enjoying them just the same. Claudia is amazing and accommodating, flexible when I need make up classes. It's often overlooked as many travel out of the Scarsdale/Eastchester area for classes. The kids really enjoyed all the activities and everyone left talking about how much fun they had. We had 5 kids with special needs in attendance and the instructors were so understanding and patient. My four-year old son attended at birthday party. I can't help but comment on the cleanliness of the facility. After attending many birthday parties in similar venues, this facility is by far the cleanest....from the gym area to the eating area, to the bathroom. Other parties I have attended with my son have been a real turn-off from booking a gym venue. However, after attending the Little Gym, we're already booked for his party in September. read more
