The Local Bar in Cypress is a relatively new opening. They are located next door to The Local Table in the Bridgeland area on Fry Rd. Love the concept; lots of tvs (no audio so you can enjoy everyone's company), small bites and appetizers along with sandwiches, pizzas and of course craft cocktails, beer and wine. My wife and I attended a Cypress Area Eats event there tonight with approximately 40 other foodies. We had a great time, enjoyed some apps and great fellowship. Highly recommend giving them a try. We went to this place after visiting the local table right across the driveway from this place. The food quality here is awful, we ordered an egg dish where the eggs were supposed to be over easy and they were just sunny side up. Afterwards we were informed they don't have a real stove to make over easy eggs, but rather just an oven....I'm literally thinking how can you cook eggs without a stove. Anywho, it was awful. We also saw the manager or waitstaff go across to local table to pick up an order for a customer, since the two restaurants are owned by the same people.....I guess. Oh yes with regards to the eggs, the staff offered to redo the dish and even offered to have it made across the way next time, but nah that's just weird a restaurant without a stove and picking up food from your sister company for patrons at the current spot. Ambiance: 3/5 The ambiance and decor are decent--typical red brick, dark wood, and black metal look. So not really any character to the establishment, but that's fine. Food: 1/5 The food is severely lacking in terms of taste and quality. Their "Margherita" pizza was actually terrible--it was a thin crust plain cheese pizza (pretty sure it's one of those ready-made store pizzas) topped with arugula and Roma tomatoes...so not an actual Margherita pizza. The spinach artichoke dip was okay but the chips were a bit stale. All of the food lacked any flavor--everything tasted like those refrigerated boxed dinners. Extremely disappointing. Service: 3/5 Service was also very mid. It was self-seating, which is not a problem, except the group of servers weren't paying attention so we sat for a solid 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Our server even tried to take our food before we were done eating. I don't blame them though, they're all just high school kids and management/owner simply didn't provide appropriate training. Price: 2/5 They updated their menu, so the menus pictured here are no longer valid. Expect to pay an average of ~$20-30 per person, which would be perfectly fine but considering the food quality is so subpar, it's simply not worth it. Let me start by saying we LOVE Local Table. And that we really enjoy the atmosphere of Local Bar. This said, the food last night was absolutely horrible and the service matched the food. I ordered a simple cheese burger medium with fries. The burger was way, way over cooked past the well point. Then the French fries were under cooked like eating a flash fried potato. You remember?...the one you cut at home and eat as a kids? To the waiters credit, I did let him know about the food situation and he brought me new fries and asked if the burger was ok after I told him it was over cooked which was an odd response? I asked the waiter to let the manger know during the meal then when the manager did not show, I asked if he told the manager and he was honest and said "I forgot". At that point I was ready to go so said never mind still gave 18% tip and left. My suggestion to anyone interested is eat at Local Table and have drinks at Local Bar. They should just focus on drinks. They are not good at the food part. Which is ok. Great suburban bar place for sure. read more

We went with the Brussels sprout pizza which was raw, and thick, not nice and crunchy how it usually is. We also had the meatballs with marinara sauce that was straight up out of a can. If you ever smelled dog piss in a carpet after it dries, that's literally what it tasted like. We got nachos, and the chips were soggy and stale while the meat was just your ordinary warmed up in the microwave fajita. My girlfriend and I always decide to come here because the food is great every time, and would rather pay the extra money to get that. Well that has changed now. read more
