Mushroom & Swiss Wild Rice Paddy - yum!
    Bonnie D.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our way back to the Twin Cities. It was super easy to get to, and we found street parking just a short walk away. I wanted cafe-ish food - sandwiches, salad, soup - and that is what I got! The food was very good! We ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Wild Rice Patty (sandwich), and the Olive and Herb Salad. The sandwich was served warm and on a croissant type bun with a side of spicy bbq sauce. I thought it was better without the sauce, but I loved flavors in the sandwich - I'd definitely get that again! The salad was good - a side of dressing, large chunks of mozza, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, sliced baguette on the side. We picked up a dark roast coffee on our way out, it was not my favorite, but my husband liked it. The service was good, and the staff was friendly. I did notice the place looked a little tired - like maybe it had been remodeled 5/10 years ago, and just needs a little care. But, it didn't detract from the food! I would definitely go back next time I'm driving through.

Lovely service, they talked me into an amazing gluten free almond cookie along with my sandwich and veggies. This place is absolutely perfect for lunch, great vegetarian and gluten free options. Only bummer - no more beer/wine available.

Fresh food and friendly service! Their coffee is fantastic. I got an iced caramel latte and super avocado toast. Wasn't the biggest fan of the sprouts but that might just be me!

Sometimes life gives you a surprise when you need.it... Or God while youre on retreat. I was needing a change of pace from the ruralness of St. John's and since I have a car, I came here. It is a Sunday morning so I wasn't sure what would be open but this place was and I get here at the right time. 8:55am. Apparently, this is a spot to be at after church...there is a Catholic church across the street and instead of coffee and doughnuts, I guess, people come here. It is now 9:38a and it is packed. Ordered: I had the avocado scone which was delish. The chipotle dressing is smoky and a hint of a burn. nice touch with the fruit. I also ordered the snickerdoofle squiggle which was okay...basically these are your fraps with a favor. Or as the worker said, "they are basically Starbucks frappes but better..." So of course I try it. And I was satisfied. The serving ware is special because it's pottery made, but not the St. John's pottery I'm accustomed to in this area. For any of you Bay Area people, this place has the vibe and look of Crepevine. It does indeed feel homey and at the same time hipstery, which is a welcome surprise in the midst of rural Minnesota. Thanks for the change of pace, and I'll be here for happy hour later this week.

    Savory Avocado and Cheese Biscuit

Great local find in St Joseph. Really good coffee and bakery items. I tried the avocado biscuit and it could have used sauce of some sort, a bit dry; but had good flavor. Came with a nice side of fruit. Took a raspberry white chocolate muffin home to enjoy later. My friends ordered the strawberry white chocolate scones and loved them.

My mom got the Veggie Flatbread, and I got the Garlicy Goat Sandwich.

Overpriced food for what you get (including somewhat smaller portion sizes), but the overall ambience of the place was spectacular. The employees were friendly. The food tasted great, although it might have been old, as I ended up feeling quite sick later on at home. The garlic in my sandwich also could hardly be tasted, even though "Garlicy" is in the menu item's title. I will likely be back to try the other menu items.

We were given constant attention by many different servers. Our main server was full of menu suggestions, ingredients, and eager to please our palates. The only negative was the level of noise with the full house. In other words the acoustics need some attention. It was difficult hearing the other guests at our table. I would definitely recommend dining at the Krewe. I would ask for a table along the windows or maybe dine outside if weather permits. The food is worth a try!

My husband had the Red Beans and Rice and really enjoyed it. Lots of meat in it. I was hoping for Crafish Étouffée but it isn't on the menu any longer. So I ordered the Shrimp Étouffée. Very disappointed. Only 5 small chunks of shrimp. It also has a sort of poblano verde sauce or maybe a poblano Maque Choux without the corn. Lots of celery. And the small amount of rice. I didn't eat much of it, after the shrimp was gone it was just bad sauce. A wasted $21. The cornbread was nice with honey butter. We split the bread pudding for dinner and it is excellent - DON'T MISS IT! Service was excellent. Especially the bus boy / water refiller. P.S. They don't do anything for anniversaries. Not sure if we will drive over 2 hours each way for Étouffée that was mediocre. The Crawfish Étouffée was excellent last time.
