My Lovely Wife and I visited The Local after a recommendation from a server at the nearby distillery. Nice vibe - lots of activity but not loud. Owen, our host, was very considerate and offered to sit us up front near the window, or out back where it was very quiet, or up on the bar. We chose the bar where Chris was mixing drinks with his long mixer. The beer selection is top notch - all local brews, many highly rated, a wide selection. The food was spectacular - fresh and tasty. All made from scratch by chef David from local ingredients. This place really is "The Local" with it's selection of locally sourced food and drinks. The caesar salad is always a point of comparison for a good restaurant. Ours rated very highly - fresh, crisp, well made and zesty. The fish tacos were excellent, some of the best I've ever had - loaded, spicy, fresh, with lots of well balanced flavors. Turns out there is another room behind the wall - a Speakeasy. We were very tempted but unfortunately had to miss it so that we could get up early and resume our road trip. I've read reviews about this place and was really excited to finally give them a try. Located on what would be considered the Main Street in Mount Holly this restaurant sits inside what once was an old historic house (making the layout and ambience unique). There's parking in front but also a very large lot behind the restaurant). We were immediately seated and given menus to browse while we waited for our server. The menu, while smaller, still has many fun and interesting options so we had no problem deciding on our meals (& drinks). The Blackberry Smash and the Autumn Cow-Man were the cocktails we ordered and the Thai Chili Brussels, Cheesesteak Eggrolls were the apps and the Buffalo Wings and Grilled Chicken Sandwich were the entrees. ALL THE FOOD (& drinks) were AMAZING!!!! Flavors were popping! Portions were generous! The food truly lived up to all the hype! The only reason the review isn't 5 stars is because our server was seriously on delay ... it had nothing to do with being busy because we had clear sight of him the entire time ... he was just on "island time" in NJ lol! We didn't make a big deal out of it because we were in no rush and were really enjoying ourselves but if he would've been on his Ps and Qs this would've been a 5 star review. Great lil spot that offers quality time well spent! The menu and hospitality here is one that will keep you coming back for more. This pub offers 2 floors of seating and a hidden area that is open for special occasions. Let's talk about the food! I devoured that burger. It was juicy, tasty, yummy, melty, velvety... it just went down with the quickness! Don't hate me for choosing that wedge salad as my side, I still don't know what I was thinking off that night. We're typically a little hesitant about frequenting the local as we enjoy sitting at the bar and the bar here is on the smaller side. We decided to head over around 5:30 on a Wednesday and were able to score seats at the bar. We each started with a drink off of their specialty cocktail list and enjoyed our choices. My dad got an El Burro which is a Mexican Mule, my mom ordered the Blackberry Smash which is one of her favorite cocktails, and I had the smoked old fashioned. Out of the 3 (I tried all of them) the smoked old fashioned was my favorite but I would have been happy ordering any of the three. After we finished our cocktails, we each selected a craft beer off of their impressive draft list which includes many popular beers from local NJ breweries. After much debate looking through some pictures (because so many menu items sounded appetizing) I finally decided to get a burger and it easily rivals some of my favorite burgers in surrounding towns. I went with The Local Burger which is topped with bacon and an egg. All burgers and sandwiches are served with their house-cut fries which far and away surpass typical frozen bagged fries. My dad also got a burger, the classic, which is topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The burgers were cooked very nicely. My mom had a Caesar salad and buffalo cauliflower, one of her go-to orders at The Local. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. As good as the burger was, I'm going to have to try new things at my next visit. There were so many other menu items in going to have to try, including a 30-day dry aged burger and a bison burger. Excellent! I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon cause I was in the area. It's GT a vibe that is laid back and attentive and caring at the same time. A one page menu which I appreciated because I don't need to pick from 100 different items. I wanted great food fast. And that's what I got. There were several burgers to choose from and I got the bacon & fig which came with Brie. It came out fast and hot. I asked for extra fig jam and no lettuce and they got it right. I was craving a burger yesterday, so I checked social media for recommendations and saw The Local mentioned several times. We decided to give it a try, and I'm glad we did. The space is small, but it's cozy, quaint, and has a nice atmosphere. My wife and I split a burger, and it was exactly as advertised--absolutely delicious. Honestly, it might be the best burger in Burlington County. We also ordered wings, which were just as impressive. I did knock off one star for two reasons: the bartender disappeared for about 15 minutes, and the beer prices felt a bit high. This restaurant is located in the busy heart of Mount Holly. There is plenty of street parking and it has a few outdoor seating tables available. We sat inside and our server, Isabella, was exceptional. Immediately, she presented us with large glasses of water and every aspect of the meal was handled perfectly. They also have a second floor, for indoor dining. Every one of our entrees were delicious, at the right temperature, and every bit of them were consumed. Have been there a few times, both in the restaurant/bar and in the lounge. First, the food is always good, as is the service and the value. Second, please know that that the staff is friendly, and easily accommodates a wheelchair-bound customer, and does it graciously. My most experience was a 'lounge night' held 3 days before a wedding for the groom & close friends... ...and I want to say a special 'Thank You' to Kayla (sorry if I misspelled it !) who not only has a black belt in knowledge of the libations available, but was kind enough to replace an appetizer that a klutzy customer- me - knocked onto the floor ! The food was the highlight of our visit, appetizers and burgers and fries were delicious!!! I had expected more for the mixed drinks based on previous reviews. Finally unfortunately the service was not very friendly, we were early for dinner and not in a hurry, we actually were the first seated in the dinning room and of all places are seated attached, yes a table attached to the servers station?!!! What ? Why ? That should be the last place you fill, my arm was grazed by the waitresses as they grabbed silverware, I understand if the place is packed and that's the only table open but why would you ever place us there? I didn't want to embarrass my family by asking to move immediately but literally every other table in the place was open and they don't take reservations, so I know they were open tables and they had several servers. Our waitress then seemed to want to rush us along and she was not very happy, didn't catch her name since she didn't introduce herself either. Ultimately she capped off the meal while she continued to rush knocking over a drink, chipping a glass, broken pieces of glass fell on the table and we think in my son's fries(he was pretty much done with them anyway) a drink we paid for and was not empty spilled all over the table and it soaked my sons shorts. Did we receive an apology?Nope! Or concern for the mess, my son or the accident, no. Just a shrug of the shoulders and walked away with the broken glass. I'm not asking for a groveling scene but at least an I'm sorry would have been nice or getting us extra napkins to clean up the mess, it's just common courtesy. Where one sits can lend itself to more of a restaurant atmosphere, the tavern vibe or the speakeasy. The menu is quite varied and tasty,the servers are attentive to one's specifics. Bartenders are quick, organized and individually attentive. Speakeasy service is adequate albeit perhaps overfocused on large groups of regulars over individuals; timing of service appears strongly preoccupied on groupings of folk that have not even yet arrived; quite transparent. Hopefully that bartender will learn to balance attention and service with folk actually already there. The owners run a tight operation and insure a high quality of offerings and service, they are open to constructive criticism when responsibly proffered. Both individuals are genuinely egalitarian, gentlemanly and sincere. 3 on food 1 for experience 4 on service I really am trying to give a fair review but my experience was not good at all compared to the last time I was here. We stopped in for drinks and appetizers with the outdoor seating during the pandemic. There weren't any major issues with the food or the drinks but it was the setting and experience that was really really bad. Our seat was next to a trash can that was full, surrounded by flies and the cars driving by were blaring music. We wanted to sit inside but it smelled really bad like sewage inside. I totally understand during covid/pandemic that the business has no control over the outdoors. The sewage smell inside though is not okay. It took a long time for our beer to come out, no big deal. I get it, staff is limited. The paper plates though were so flimsy you might as well have put the food on the table. During a time of safely eating, I didn't feel like it was on par. It could be tightened up a bit. I say all of this so it improves. Please get plasticware or glass right away because that was gross to have the grease leak out and on the table with the paper products. On a positive note, the fingerling potatoes appetizer are still tasty. read more

A cozy bar for locals in adorable downtown Mount Holly. I am originally from South Jersey, but had never really been to Mount Holly. I was impressed with the character of Main Street. Definitely a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Mount Holly! The fiancé and I wanted to check out a local spot and I'm so happy we did! We came in around 6:30 and it was definitely busy. The front hostess seemed a little overwhelmed since she was in charge of reservations and waitressing but she as well as everyone else seemed very friendly and welcoming. I sense this is a definite local water hole since I saw a lot of families enjoying dinner. Food came out really fast and let me tell you it was fantastic! The menu isn't too big and offers your typical American food. The Reese's cheesecake was sooooo creamy and just out of this world! We will definitely be coming back again and with friends! I was super eager and excited to see where the "speakeasy" was after we finished our dinner. The speakeasy was so cool and I loved the entire vibe. I read online they offer a selection of 250 different whiskeys to choose from so this is a must visit if you enjoy whisky. Drinks a beautifully presented and pack a punch! This place is definitely worth a visit! I love the atmosphere. There menu doesn't contain too much but it does contain some pretty good options. We really just went for starters so we had the fried mozzarella, pork empanadas and sweet & spicy asian wings. The fried mozzarella didn't really have much flavor to it so I would pass on it and the pork empanadas the meat was pretty dry for my liking. The sweet and spicy Asian wings were really good though! And some of the other things that were being brought out looked amazing so I would go to try more of their actual menu. For drinks we got the mango chili margarita which was alright, it lacked flavor a little in my opinion which I wasn't expecting. They did seem to have some other interesting drink choices and it seems like they have some locals on draft as well. Service was quick when we first walked in, we were seated with menus and given water right away. The problem was our food which was just starters took quite awhile before it even came and then when we asked for the bill that also took some time too. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and I'm a fan of Historic Mount Holly. We gave it another try and learned that they have a rotating menu, which we were not impressed again so I'll leave those choices up to you. read more

My wife and I was ecstatic they had indoor seating with proper Covid protocol. We felt safe while eating dinner and the meal was delicious. Started off with the Buffalo wings, creamy and spicy sauce, wings fried perfect and tangy blue cheese. Nothing wrong there. Next was the veggie burger which was packed full of mushrooms, if you love mushrooms then this is the burger for you. My wife loved it. I personally had the western burger and the crispy onion straws made it over the top. For drinks, my wife and I are sadly...basic so we had to get the pump-Queen (pumpkin beer). One of our favorite local spots. They always have great specials. Pre-covid, it was so nice to go sit inside and enjoy some great craft beers and local spirits. Since then we have done some takeout, but can't wait to get back in there. They have THE BEST veggie burger! Cremini mushroom blend...it's lights out. I have a hard time ordering other things since having it, but the other food on the menu is really good as well, so don't be discouraged if you don't like mushrooms. The Local Eatery & Pub is a charming little eatery on High Street in downtown Mt. Holly. The menu is small but eclectic. My daughter and I went pretty basic and ordered two burgers; The Local Burger: custom blend ground patty, cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg, local sauce and the Veggie Burger: cremini mushroom patty, gruyere cheese, garlic aioli, crispy onion, arugula. Both of these burgers were excellent and the Veggie burger was great. The Local burger was not so enormous or rich to put one in food coma.The Veggie burger had some greta flavor profiles and we both loved this burger. Both burger's buns were soft and unique. The sweet potato fries were also cooked well and were quite good. Service was a bit spotty on the night of our visit. They had a problem with our ticket and some other glitches. This is really a cool spot right downtown in Mt. Holly. If you enter from the main street, which I think most people do, they will ask you to walk to the host stand located at the "front". Small but inviting bar and a few high tops, but I think there's more seating elsewhere, I've just never seen it. We got seated at a window high top which is now my favorite table here, gives you space from the bar which can get crowded. Only downside, when it does get crowded it's pretty hard to hear, gets overly loud. Menu looks good and wasn't super hungry when I went but got the fried mozzarella, not to be confused with mozzarella sticks. These were different, freshly made and absolutely delicious. My date got the local salad (love a good arugula salad!) added prosciutto and some tacos. My beer, amazing. Last Minute Strawberry Lemonade Shandy, pretty sure that was the name. In fact, it was so good that we asked for the sauce to go with our fries during our meal. We had the Fried Shrimp Burger, Local Burger, Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich, Caprese Bowl with Chicken, and Pesto Tortellini. All were fabulous and very filling! The server was prompt and attentive. My friends and I were looking for a place nearby to eat. The Local Eatery & Pub had pretty good reviews and the kitchen was still open at around 10 pm on a Friday, which was when we came in. The place was dead. I would think that since it's a pub as well, there would be more than a few people - at least having a drink. But I guess it's not a bad thing - not like we were looking for a noisy crowd anyway. For food, I had the cuban sandwich, which was probably the weirdest Cuban I've had. It had entire pickle spears in it. I felt like I was eating a pickle sandwich. The fries were not good. You could tell they were refried again and again though not sure if this is different if you come during the day, Drinks are expensive for no reason. We were only visiting near this town for the weekend, so we won't be back. But even if I live in the area, I don't think I'd be back anyway. read more

So just moved to the area and it was one of those, ' I really don't feel like cooking' weeknights. I searched yelp and found this spot with high reviews. I decided to give them a chance and I am so happy I did! I ordered: cheeseburger and fries, bbq wings, mozzarella sticks, butternut squash ravioli with Prosciutto, and pork belly tacos. The ravioli was the best! It had pine nuts and checks of squash and the white sauce was delicious. I liked the tacos but I'm not a fan of the tortillas, think it was a little dense but that's how those are. Also, the sauce was a little heavy for my taste on the tacos but the pork belly was cooked well. My husband is a picky eater when it comes to burgers and he said his cheeseburger was very good. Keep in mind that he ate it 3 hrs later from the time I ordered it. The vibe was relaxed in there and staff was very friendly, can't wait to come back and sit down in here to eat. We live nearby and are glad we checked this place out. The fried thai chili cauliflower is amazing! We also got bowls: Mediterranean veggie and Caprese. So good! Only slight concern: we thought the menu said to add chicken or cauliflower + $2 but it ended up being $5 extra for each bowl since we added chicken. Definitely won't do that again, bowls are fine and filling w/o the additional ingredients and not worth $5 extra. Drinks from the bar were made well. Jersey refresher ( i think it was called) and gin martini. We sat at a table downstairs between the bar and back entrance. Server was excellent. He suggested menu items as we discussed being torn as what to order. He was attentive, friendly, and made our drinks as well. Food came out in a timely manner. Very filling. Will be back for sure. I traveled to Mt. Holly for many work-related trips and this place became my home away from home. Derrick and the entire waitstaff were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the local brews they had on tap, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was really relaxing. I did and decided on a nice double ipa. After chatting beer with Derek and another patron I decided to order their house specialty burger (forget the name) but not the burger. It was perfectly done with egg, bacon, and cheddar; heart attack be damned. Excellent. There are other things on the menu that looked good and worth trying. Ambiance is cool too. They were good. but that the whoe dinner menu I thiere was a steak dish we didn't try. So I would say more of a casual menu not someplace to go for something special.
