I should have left right after I entered because the place was 1/4 full but loud and rowdy. The bartender shouted, "Quiet!" and she was louder than the crowd. They have a juke box, and the music was playing. I enjoy loud music but the noise level here was not comfortable. I commented to her and she snapped, "This is a bar, honey. It's going to be loud." This was my second time going there because I had wanted to try their food. The menu and specials looked decent, their prices reasonable and they have many choices. To their credit, they allowed me to order a children's size Chicken Wings and Fries. However, even with 4 wings and 3 celery sticks, I didn't finish my meal. The food was not fresh, as evidenced by the dry chicken meat. The wings were swimming in the sauce but that didn't help. Maybe this is Burlington's friendly, neighborhood pub, but neither the food nor the manners will bring me back. read more

Went on a Sat evening around 6. 9 people at the bar. Slow service. Steak was straight charcoal, perogies were frozen garbage. Waited 40 mins for 2 meals bc staff was either dumb or negligent. Took 1 bite of each meal and put the forks down, got up, paid the bill w tip and left. Tterrible. Will never ever ever go back. only gave 1 star bc the app won't let you post without clicking. My husband and I love the food and have never been let down or disappointed. Our favorite is the fish and chips, the best we have ever had. The homemade soups are great. Recently I had a shrimp and corn chowder, totally over the top. I've had their salads which have all been delicious. Homemade dressings, fresh sides, and the FF's are so damn good! The bartenders are very friendly and their service is spot on. We enter through the door and sit at a high top adjacent to the bar which has become our "spot". As an older couple, we feel safe and comfortable. This bar is clean, the bathroom is clean, and it is a nice place to enjoy. Last time we went a couple from France raved about the food. If you're lucky you may see the Burlington legend at the bar, Dean Gilbert! He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1969 and Cincinnati was after him too. The food was great. I had bangers and mash and my friend had shepard's pie. We shared the Irish nachos, which was huge. Erin was an awesome server... very pleasant and cheery. She tended to the whole place (bar area and dining area) by herself without skipping a beat. It took a little while for our appetizer to come out, but considering it's new year's day (and I think only 1 cook), we didn't mind. I would definitely return to Doc's to try some of the other menu items. read more

We went there with a group of 12 after a baseball game. We sat outside behind the building. There is a shed back there with a serving window which I guess is used on weekends. Food was good and the bartenders were very friendly. Had a pool table and a bunch of TVs inside. Definitely give Docs a try if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I'm not sure why there are no reviews on this bar in the past two and a half years. Wait, it's Burlington, but still. Actually, the only reason I decided to stop by and try Doc's was because of the few positive reviews on here. I usually tire or question all of the endless bars that label themselves "Irish" or "Pub" (and this place has it all in the title) just because they have a harp logo on the wall. But, I must say I was impressed here. I first noticed the posted chalkboards listing weekly and daily food specials, which were a mix of Irish food and standard bar fare (burgers, wraps, subs, etc). They were also serving $3 Smithwick's, which I happily accepted. After looking through the menu, I kept it simple and ordered the "Chicago" burger with fries. Not just standard fries though...hand cut fries. Both were great! Aside from the good food, large bar and 18 beers on tap, there was a jukebox playing good music, TVs showing baseball and Buzztime trivia, guys enjoying a game of pool and even Wii golf. Before I left, I stopped by the pinball machines and enjoyed a free game, all ready to go for some reason. I'll be back, Doc. read more

This is a unique little neighborhood pub in what all it has to offer given it's location. Tucked in to a street corner in a neighborhood type area, Doc's offers a solid selection of draft beers, great food menu, some arcade games, an actually decent pool table, jukebox if I remember correctly.. but if not, a still great playlist of classic to modern alternative jams. More class and variety than I typically find in a neighborhood spot. Loved the atmosphere and thought it did a good job actually maintaining an Irish pub-like feel. Nice decor. Friendly and experienced bartender. A cool mix of style and age in the crowd, making it obvious that it's truly a classic neighborhood bar - not strictly for young partiers only or just old drinkers. No smoking indoors. They had a Burlington pool league in that night, and it was refreshing as I walked in with my own sticks to see other players all over the room who had also brought theirs to play some real pool. Met several great local patrons and had a good time chillin and shootin some 8 ball. I only skipped a star cause I wasn't hungry enough to really try the food, so I couldn't really incorporate that here. I did try the calamari though, which was very tasty. A solid four ****'s it is. Should I be in this neck of the woods again, I definitely plan to return to Doc's. Should you already be now, I suggest you check it out. read more

Wanting to get off our normal High Street path, we wandered over to Docs for a beer on a Sunday night. There were a lot of people there, playing pool and watching whatever game was on (I would never know). Its a pretty dark, old-ish place, but they do have pinballs, which is cool, and a pool table. The crowd was averaging about 40 - 60, but I hear that a younger crowd floods the place on weekend nights. I had a martini and fries and both were good! I think a beer would have been more appropriate for the atmosphere. read more

This is not your low life dive you might expect along the railroad tracks in Burlington - this is a highly respected neighborhood watering hole with cold beer, good food and great people. It's a very friendly place where you can strike up a conversation while watching the many flat screen TV's. It was packed for Monday night football but not overly rowdy and all had a good time. The crab cakes are great - broiled, not fried - with jumbo lump crab and little filler. Next time you think about fast food stop into Doc's and take a load off and relax. I went here on a Saturday night with some locals who were celebrating a birthday party. The bar was packed and their were only two bartenders on duty. The bartenders could not keep up. They didn't even greet people or a "I'll be right with you" or even just a head nod with eye contact. I knew for fact, we would wait to be served. Surprisingly I got a seat at the bar. The group of females to my left said they were waiting 30 to be served. If that is true, that's ridiculous. The group of ladies to my right were also waiting to order drinks. The bar was very busy. I was waited on within two minutes of entering and sitting down. I received a not so friendly look from the customers to my left and right. I ordered my usual, crown and water. You can't screw that up. It was fine. The reason for my two star review is the lack of attention I saw to other customers who were waiting. My drink was served in a glass. If you served me Crown Royal in plastic, other then poolside, I will tell you about it. Other customers had their cocktails served in red solo cups. The majority of said cups had gapping holes in them and the drinks were leaking out all over the bar and floor. I saw the cups with holes in them going out to customers all over the bar. If I was the bartender, I would have just gotten a new sleeve. They also served craft beer in red solo cups. They had Cape May Brewing Co on tap. Their product is really good. A person in my group was drinking the coffee stout, out of a RED SOLO CUP! If I was that company I would flip that my product is being served in a red solo cup and not in a pint glass that said "Cape May Brewing Co." Also I did witness a fight between males, and there was zero security. You can't rely on a female bartender to shout "stop it" across the bar and to have two men stop throwing punches at each other. The place didn't seem clean to my standard behind the bar and in the common areas could have used hug too. I would also have preferred friendly bartenders. If you can't handle tapping beer and being friendly, find another profession. I will pass on Doc's in the future. read more

I only leave one star bc I just got this app, accidentally hit the one star, and couldn't figure out how to take it off again. After waiting for 10 minutes to place an order in an establishment that wasn't even halfway full, I finally placed my order, then watched the bartender walk away and begin talking with her middle school friends. I came in all the way from San Diego, CA to get a drink at docs and this is what I get? I'll tell you what I got - terrible service and the motivation to make my first yelp EVER about my "fantastic" experience at docs. Don't waste your time or money, folks: avoid it. But, if you're looking for a place with good food, reasonably priced and great company then Doc's is just the place. This little neighborhood bar has historic roots tracing back to almost pre-prohibition days. Stop in anytime, Doc's is even open for breakfast. Along with having 18 beers on tap you'll also find something on their menu to your liking. With Irish favorites like Shepard's Pie, Bangers & Mash and Guinness Stew, you cant go wrong but they also have a host of other enters which are sure to please. Huge fan of this place. Finally a local Pub with great homemade food! The Pub burgers are incredible and they come with real homemade fries. I also recommend their buffalo wings. My lunch group has been here several times in the past and always had a great experience. Something changed this time, and unfortunately, will be our last. Because their lunch business is minuscule, the bartender doubles as waitress. She's sweet and tries her best. Well, she has a group of noisy regulars at the bar who seem to demand her time. They got so loud, we had to pause conversations during outbursts. We finally got our drinks and menu and ordered the potato & ham soup to start. It finally arrived in about 15 minutes and was stone cold. How can that happen in a kitchen? Even the soup bowls were cold! Are kids running the kitchen? They nuked each soup bowl for us. I ordered a "pub" burger, done medium, with crumbled blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. My burger was well done but just warm and lacked salt or seasoning, the blue crumbles were absolutely tasteless, and the tomatoes were tiny sliced cherry tomatoes. Others in my group ordered BLT's and got a slew of tiny sliced cherry tomatoes and one slice of bacon! Besides, it is freezing in the dining area. read more

This is a really nice pub, Doc's is a great place for family and friends and special occasions. Great food and sometimes good live music, too! Wide-range of tunes on their digital jukebox (which also plays music videos). With 18 beers on tap this is a pretty chill spot to go and have cold one or two. Doc's is an off-the-beaten-path bar that has done a lot with the local community to make it a friendly and fun atmosphere. One thing I like in a hometown bar is a good pool table, which is freshly felted. That, they have. It has no sags, so slow shots work fine. Doc, as the owner is called, is friendly to the patrons and does a good job to accommodate them. They also have specials for each night of the week, like all you can eat wings for 10 bucks on Tuesday, and 3 dollar Heineken on Wed. Bar food is very good. I would try the Shepherds Pie and the fish and chips is awesome, if you like that kind of thing. The crowd is sparse during the week, which can be good or bad, depends on what mood you're in. This is one of the best spots in Burlington!!! Food is dynamite and service is great! Doc, the owner, is so welcoming and talks to everyone! Their quesadillas are the best I've ever had! Their burgers are awesome and Irish dishes are out of this world! They have daily specials at a great price. Don't be fooled by the building.. it is a great establishment!! I will never ever go to this place again just left there five hours ago just went in to have A couple of beers with my son and his girlfriend some guy jumped at my son for no reason and was trying to choke him ppl where trying to stop the guy but he kept lunging at him so my son did the only thing he could and smashed him with the glass and now my son is in trouble for it and the other guy is not I will never go there again and I will spread the word about what happened I absolutely hate this place it sucks and I didn't even get to taste the food or taste the beer because the guy that attacked my son started the whole fight and it's pretty funny that the burlington city police told me not to go back to that place cause it's nothing but trouble read more

In here the other night for dinner with the family. A few of us had regular pub fare, the others the irish "specialities". 2 shepherd's pies, a guineas stew, and a chicken pot pie. The stew was overcooked and tough, the others were so over seasoned with dried herbs they were inedible! The sampler platter of pub staples was pretty good though... So maybe stay away from the "irish" dishes? The atmosphere was a little surly but our server was nice. The irish food used to be good... Too bad! read more

I used to like this place, but it seems to be attracting a lot of trouble makers. The last couple of times I went there I spent most of time looking over my shoulder. They do have good food and a nice beer selection, if they could change the type of people that have been recently been frequenting there; they would then have a loyal group of patrons that would not cause any trouble. First time following advice on Yelp!, and it didn't do me wrong! Went on a Wednesday night looking for some good Irish grub and a lax feel. Bartenders were attentive and personable. Definitely had a local but welcoming feel. Crowd was between 25 and 50 years old. I did feel a little overdressed in polo and slacks at 9pm. Ordered the fish an chips and they were spot on! Gave it 5 stars because the other reviews I read we're accurate, the staff was friendly and the food was just what you'd expect from a neighborhood Irish pub. read more

Stopped in for some grub & beer with the wife about 5 pm on a Saturday. Large "u" shaped bar with small tables to the side that are elevated to bar height. Also a separate dining area off to the side. Pool table, jukebox, flat screens all around for a welcome feel. Ordered up some flatbreads that were nice portions and very tasty. Could not finish it all. Beer was cold with a decent selection on tap. Definitely worth a repeat visit in the future. read more

I went to this bar with a buddy to watch some football games. The food was pretty good - I especially enjoyed the French onion soup actually. But the service was downright pathetic. The two of us were constantly ignored by the waitress. And even when we did try to speak with her she left before we finished ordering.
