The Village Pub has one of the best dinners I've had in a long time. The ribeye topped with crab meat and vodka sauce was absolutely incredible--perfectly cooked steak with a rich, flavorful topping that worked surprisingly well together. Everything came out hot and tasted amazing. The service was also excellent and very fast, which made the whole experience even better. While two nearby restaurants were standing room only, I was happy to find (or so I thought) the Pub had several seats at the bar available for my dinner. Although quickly receiving a drink, it took 15 minutes of my raising my hand (ignored) again and again and before and after a regular sat next to me that was served immediately, then literally wave both hands in the air to get the bartender's attention to ask for a menu. 13 minutes later and after the bartender served or checked with the entire bar again, I had enough and asked a waitress to check me out. She could not and had to wave the bartender over, who asked if I did not want to order something??? She barked that she was the only bartender, and I barked back, "Then why did I watch you serve people around the bar 2-3 times!" 31 minutes is not customer service, and it is not the way to get AND keep new regulars. read more

I heard many good things about The Village Pub, so I thought it was about time we tried it. We were so disappointed in the food. We thought we'd try the Wednesday special meals. We ordered two chicken parm dinners, a veal parm dinner, and a Texas burger for take-out. Service was quick, so that's a plus. The salad was uninspiring. Iceberg lettuce and a few red peppers on top. We ordered three dinner specials, but only received 2 tiny loaves of garlic bread. The chicken tasted good, but the tomato sauce was too sweet for me. My daughter didn't have much to say about the veal either way. My husband thought the burger was average. I would not return. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover! The biggest surprise I've had in a long time! I've heard all about how good the Italian food is here and finally got a chance to try it out. The place looks like a backroad pub from the outside but serves up amazing Italian. My wife and I tried the veal Parmesan and eggplant chicken parm and both were delicious. Stopped at Village Pub on a recommendation for the Crab soup. I must agree the Crab soup is among the best I ever tasted. We came here at approximately 5 PM in a Tuesday. We found the noise level to be insane and disrespectful of customers who came here to enjoy dinner. The bar area was excessively loud due to the obviously drunk patrons talking or yelling as they tried to converse with each other. I requested to speak to the manager in an attempt to have the loud voices toned down. Never did see the manager. I assume the comfort of their customers is not important! Finally at our request our server did notify the loud mouths to quiet down without any results. I can only conclude that the management of this facility is more interested in this place as a rowdy bar and not a place to enjoy a lunch or dinner. read more

The village pub was recommended by my friends. I couldn't wait to try it for myself. Didn't realize they take reservations and walked into a 40 minute wait. decided on my entree and was informed they ran out of it. The chef suggested a substitution and after careful thought I went with it. I haven't had a better dish in a fancier restaurant. Hats off to the staff for their kindness. It's a hole in the wall that is very noisy, but I'll be back to try more amazing items on the menu. I highly recommend! read more

We have been to the Village Pub several times. I don't recommend going on a Friday or Saturday as the noise level is painful. The food is great, (Lobster Ravioli is the best) but the noise level is uncomfortable. We could not hold a conversation without yelling. It's been 2 weeks, and my husband's ear still hurts. read more

If you've ever had to cram a meal in between a middle school softball game and a travel softball game, you understand that the bar for a satisfying meal is really set at the "do they serve booze here" level. The rest...was a metaphor for the sporting spectacle I had just left, more misses than hits...although there were some prospects in an otherwise okay lineup. Time to play ball with the review, FFS. Flair: From the outside, a person may drive past this place rather than ask to use the bathroom. It's old. It's outdated. It needs a little more than a spring cleaning. But it works. It fits. It makes no bones or pretensions about the fact that it's a local watering hole. For those reasons, I say good on them. Don't bow to the masses or the man, stay true to who you are. If you're familiar with South Jersey...this is it. I give it a solid rating on the authenticity and vibe. If you're overdressed in a Hawaiian shirt, that's my kind of place. Food: Ever see that episode of the Brady Bunch where Bobby and Cindy try to set the seesaw record to get attention? That's the food. Back and forth between potentially really good and actually just okay. I asked for a mixed drink, as you saw what my night entailed. I got a double without even so much as a respectful warning. No big deal if you want to slur your words by the third inning. For me, I prefer a standard unless otherwise asked. When I hit a divey place or a diner, my measuring stick is a BLT. Why? It's simple to make and equally as simple to screw up. So I got one of them and a cup of the crab soup. Quick, easy, homey, but very telling. The soup was like the Crying Game...surprising in many ways. The amount of crab was way beyond what I expected. Ditto on the spice. Dousing the flames in my mouth with alcohol that could be set on fire by the tiniest of sparks wasn't the best combo, but oh well. However...it was pretty bland aside from the spice. Little salt. Little depth of flavor. Lots of spice. The BLT did little to move the needle in either direction. The tomato was fresh. The bread wasn't stale. However, the lettuce was clumped in the middle. There were two (2) strips of bacon. It ate like a sad late night comedy....full of hope, providing some nice entertainment, but otherwise pretty blah. Service: Pretty cool. Bartenders were nice. People were friendly. Could be more attentive, but the regulars get the most service. I get it, it's what I expected. The staff were nice enough, welcoming and congenial. Not bad at all. All in all, I'll come back, and not just because my kids fields are right up the street. If I could make any suggestion, it would be to just take a few seconds to make what you're doing pop...because this has the potential to be a diamond in the Pines. read more

I have eaten here two times in the last 2 weeks. The food was great both times. The staff is very friendly and considerate. One night , our waitress asked us to be patient because they were short on help. Honestly, it was so nice of her to tell us. Even being short on help, they were more attentive than fully staffed restaurants and they were packed. I've had seafood and chicken parmigiana and my party had other entrees . All were excellent. The only ding, and I hate to even do this, maybe a little, just a little updating on decor. read more

We just moved to Tabernacle and drove by this place a few times. I was very skeptical due to the outside appearance. It's really bad. Definitely needs some work. Kinda scary looking. But, we read reviews of the place and checked out their menu online and were curious. All reviews are great and it's just a mile or two from our house. Fixing up the place to draw in more people would actually be pointless and unnecessary actually. My husband and I went in Friday night for a drink and some dinner. THE PLACE WAS PACKED by 7pm. That's a good sign. Some tables had reservations, which tells me if I come later than 7, I'm gonna need one. The menu was expansive! I was looking around to see what everyone else was eating and the portions looked huge and everything smelled great. Lots of choices. My husband had the shrimp and scallop diablo I think it was it was called. We each had a salad, shared an order of steamed clams (they were amazing and gave you a mound of equally yummy garlic bread) and we shared a bowl of crab soup. All fanstastic! Yes - it's not a fancy restaurant with valet/chandeliers and bookcases if you know what I mean - It's a very blue collar/hard working crowd type of place - Here's what's important to me at the place - Friendly service/ good Food/nice portions. We started out with an app of king crab legs that were in a garlic sauce. 2 nice sized clusters. We each had a chicken dish - I did the francaise over linguini which was great but just a little too lemony for my taste. The date had a chicken dish off the menu as she wanted grilled chicken in a rose/vodka sauce over rigatoni which the server/bartender said no problem at all. My biggest problem is the frozen New Zealand green mussels. Please just get fresh mussels. Makes me worry about the clams. Otherwise portions are big. Pasta is pretty good. Burgers are decent. Reasonable prices. read more
