Pretty disappointed in my first visit to the Hamburg Local Taco. You order at the counter, get a number, take a seat. Fine. They have a Taco Lunch Plate and an Enchilada Lunch Plate. 2 of each and a side. Can you get one of each and a side. Nope. Well yes, but all ordered separately at a slightly higher price. Yet both a taco or an enchilada are the same price ordered individually. And both lunch plates are the same price. So, minus one star for being Stoopid and Difficult. Food is brought to table. Giant plate, little "taco" and a decent enchilada with molè on the side as requested. That lettuce and tomato salad is covering a baked on slab of melted cheese. Just a weird presentation. The steak taco was served just with the horseradish sauce. No pico de gallo as described. I did ask to exclude any cilantro of present. Perhaps it was in the pico. But TELL ME THAT. Offer a substitute. Put some damn cheese on it. The meat was flavorful. But it was just ... weird. Minus one star for terrible presentation. We recently had the opportunity to visit this Local Taco location. I am a big fan of the location near campus, so I was looking forward to see how this spot was in comparison. It was a Saturday evening, but the wait to place our order at the counter wasn't too long. Once our order was placed it was delivered to the table in maybe ten minutes. We tried the three dips and chips and three tacos. The queso, guacamole, and roja salsa were all delicious, and they came with two big baskets of chips, which were way more than we needed. The steak taco, local bbq taco, and shrimp taco were all great. Meat was cooked perfectly on the steak taco, according to my husband. I loved the shrimp taco with the spicy slaw. If you are in the area this is a solid spot to grab a quick bite. read more

We had an early dinner there yesterday. There were 5 in our group. If you haven't been before, you order your food from the wait staff at the front counter and servers deliver it to your table. You have to order your alcoholic drinks separately from the bar area. I had a Spicy Shrimp Taco and the Fish Taco. These are 2 of my favorites that they offer. We also had a trio of their salsas - Roja, Smoked Corn & Black Bean, and Pico de Gallo. The Chips were thin, crispy and warm. Everything was delicious. The draft beers are huge!! read more

We don't think of this as a Mexican place. They have so many delicious tacos, I don't know which one that I like the most. My favorites are the Korean BBQ and the Shrimp. The fried chicken is really good and I love the fish too. They usually have great specials too! Nice atmosphere and bar as well. Perfect place to stop before a concert at Rupp Arena! It wasn't too busy, and is walking distance to the arena. This place would be a great spot to go even on non-event nights. I got the cocinero salad and it was great! It was a huge portion at an affordable price. Highly recommend! read more

Always enjoy a trip to Local Taco. As the name implies, they partner with local farmers & producers which I love. You can find them listed on their wall. I prefer the campus location but am happy they are in Hamburg which is surely lacking local businesses. My faves are the Korean BBQ, Buffalo Chicken & Fish Taco. read more

Popped in for a quick lunch last week! I was excited for this location to open on this side of town and this was the first opportunity I had to visit. There was a bit of a line at 12:30pm that moved pretty quickly. I like that you can grab a menu by the door and have your decision made by the time you get to the register. I got the fish taco that was tasty and warm and perfectly battered and the coleslaw topping was bright and delicious. I I would give this item 4 stars. For my side I had a brussels sprout special, which has so much potential, but fell short by being served cold...I'm quite certain they were supposed to be served warm of not hot. They had a great texture, but I'm sure the flavor would have been been had they been warmer. I would give this item one star. The person who took my order was friendly. The location is new and clean. The food and the ambiance get 4 stars. I have a problem though that as a GF person you had to make my tacos 3 times. I was told that they were too busy to give me a little sided of raw onions. That's crazy. So service gets a 1. The floor staff gets a 5 for cleanliness and keeping up with the beverages and cleaning up after people. The chips to dip are not gluten free they cross contaminated as they use the same fryer. Good thing I asked. Also the red mole says it is not peanut free but it is also not on their dedicated GF list so stay away from that. I'm a big fan of LTs original location on UKs campus but the parking situation is definitely lacking, so it was great that they opened a second location- with plenty of parking! It's the same setup as the first location: walk in, grab a menu, order at the counter, take a number & find a table. There are plenty of tables available, with both patio and indoor seating. Our food came out super fast (amazing with a toddler) and was delicious! My husband and I split the 4 taco special and a few sides. The one issue we had was that you're not able to order alcoholic drinks at the main counter, you have to order them separately at the bar. With this extra added step we just decided to skip and stick with waters. read more

My experience there was not good, my aunt and I sat there waiting for a server , but no one came,as it turns out there are no servers you have to order at the counter . They didn't have a good menu. My aunt and I will never go there again. At first glance, the food here looks good, but it's really not. I've ordered a few items here over the years hoping it'll get better, but it never does. All of the tacos and sides taste bland. So bland that i'm convinced they use no seasoning - not even salt. It's that bad. The one bright spot is the place is relatively cheap. Stopped by the local taco for lunch today because it was in walking distance and I wanted to try something new. So glad I did because my taco cravings were satisfied. It came highly recommended by some people I work with. I opted to try out the lunch special which offered two tacos of your choice and a side. I ordered a fried chicken taco with cilantro ranch (i believe) and a grilled chicken taco with a verde sauce, and queso (for an up charge) as my side. The grilled chicken taco was a little too spicy for my super low tolerance buds but still tasty. I just wish I would've ate that one first and saved the best for last. The crispy chicken taco was delicious and I regretted not having two of those. The sauce was creamy and zesty but not overwhelming. Chicken tasted fresh and crispy. The tortillas weren't big enough to hold the fillings of either taco but were enough to enjoy for lunch. The queso absolutely blew me away. I tore that cheese dip uppppp. It was recommended by the cashier and I was so impressed. Service was incredibly fast as well. My food had been brought out before I finished paying for it (had a hiccup at the counter because ApplePay isn't an option here) shoutout to the cashier for helping with that because I didn't have another payment method other than my phone. In the crazy world we live in, it is still possible to find value and good food. Local Taco with two locations in Lex provides good food in a fast-casual atmosphere. The lunch taco basket, two tacos with any side for 10 dollars, offers great value. I had the like tequila chicken and the southern fried tacos, along with their black beans for a fast delicious lunch. Returned the next day, this time ordering the fish tacos on corn tortillas. It came as a breaded fried piece of white fish, a spicy sauce, pickled jalapenos, and like. Very good. My side this time was the pinto beans which also had a nice kick. This time I ordered from the bar, including a nice local Mexican lager from West Sixth. All beer is served in Margarita fish bowls which are frozen, which while not my favorite way to have beer, works in this setting. read more

I'll start with the positive. The soft taco shells weren't dried out and the mango margaritas were good. That's it. I had high hopes for this place but the tacos were so incredibly bland. The BBQ and Korean BBQ pork and beef were dry and lacking flavor. The spicy shrimp wasn't spicy and had a flavorless slaw. The only one with any flavor at all was the buffalo chicken taco but the only flavor from that were the bleu cheese crumbles. First time here. Food was okay, nothing amazing. We waited over 15 minutes for our food and actually had to ask someone to check on it. The cups they give you for drinks are so small (like a kids size/small cup from anywhere else) you have to make several trips to get refills. And who knows how much they charge for drinks because it's not on their sign/menu and we didn't get an itemized receipt. In my opinion it's a bit pricey for what you get. Probably won't go back unless it's with other people who want to go there. read more

We were in town for a UK basketball game. Needed to grab lunch before the game. Local taco looked great based on the menu. It was a pretty long line but it moved pretty quick. We got a variety of tacos, buffalo chicken, southern fried chicken, steak, bbq and brisket. All were good. The sauces were good but none of the tacos had enough. So much better than any fast food. The straws are money. They make a great noise when you move them in and out of the lid. read more

I come to Local Taco most Wednesday's and order the same thing, Southern Fried Tacos. Usually the chicken seems freshly cooked but today however, it was very bad! It tasted like it had been sitting around in a pan for quite sometime. Very disappointing! If it was my first time to eat there I wouldn't be back. I'm going to give it one more chance. Another thing that was off putting to me was the staff that cleaned off tables. There were 3 of them standing in a corner on their phones even while there were dirty tables. First time visiting Local Taco. We learn they don't have ground beef tacos. I had two fish tacos. They were average in taste. Small size. The "taco" is a miniature non-fried soft tortilla out of a bag. About 4" diameter. Sad. My wife tried the chicken taco and the brisket taco. Average. The chicken consisted of a single chicken tender cut into three small pieces. Sad. I liked their fresh tea (half sized cups), and the tortilla chips and queso was good. Great food, but waiting in line is a major drag. I'd say we waited 25 minutes to place our order and then we were told to wait in the bar line to get our drinks. Local Taco definitely impressed me I didn't know what to expect when I went there for the first time but it was packed so I thought dam they have to be doing something right. I ordered the Korean BBQ taco and the steak taco with a side of black beans and I definitely understood why the line was out the door. Both my taco orders was delicious the meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly the beans were cooked good as well. The shrimp taco is fantastic. I've eaten here twice in the last month. The first time was take out from the campus location and the second was a late dine-in lunch at Hamburg. The atmosphere at both places is similar: modern and friendly with lots of high tops, outdoor seating. Counter service ordering with table delivery. Staff at both locations was very friendly and accommodating. Across both visits, we had: The three dip sampler at each location: queso, guac, and smoked corn and black bean salsa. - all three are excellent. The queso is thick, the guac is fresh, and the salsa is on point, Spicy shrimp taco: fantastic and my top pick. I liked it enough that I ordered it both trips. (Two of them the second trip) Fish taco: also great. Would order again. It wasn't as crispy as the shrimp (it's more of a beer batter on the fish). Buffalo chicken taco - was good, blue cheese crumbles thankfully and not dressing, I'd ask for light lettuce next time. Smoked brisket taco: my son liked it so much he wouldn't let me try it. Vegetarian Taco: My 10 year old was excited about the description but not the execution. Not sure what the exact issue was, and in honesty, it may be him and not the taco. Triple Crown Enchilada with Salsa Verde: my wife enjoyed this very much. Steak taco: I wasn't blown away, but this was on the take-out visit and none of my 4 tacos on that trip got the sauces for some reason. I had been excited about the horseradish crèma and without it the taco was just kinda dry and dull. It's local and the atmosphere is excellent. My food was okay, I went with the vegetarian taco, and the brisket taco face on a neighbors recommendation. Vegetarian taco was quite tasty, and the brisket taco as well, but they were both cold. The manager brought them out and then took them back to the kitchen. My server brought them back out maybe eight minutes later. They were both cold. I had chips and salsa and black beans for my sides. The salsa was very bland but had a burnt taste to it. The chips were run on the mill tortilla chips and I also got some queso which was decent, but in a small dish. All this being said.
