I'd rather give these people zero stars... I had a couple of house keys that needed copying...all of the retail places I tried did not have blanks for them, so I figured a "locksmith" would be a better bet. So I walked into the store, presented the keys to the man at the counter, and this was the (somewhat bizarre) conversation: "Hi, do you have blanks to make duplicates of these?" "Yes, they are Medeco, and they'll be $15 each..." "OK, I figured...I'm familiar with them" "...but you'll have to come back for them, I'm too busy right now" "No problem, do you mean today?...I have some other errands to run...can I come back in about an hour maybe-?" "No, today is my "garbage" day...I have to take out the garbage, and a whole bunch of other things (he goes on and on, telling me in detail of all the things he has to do)...maybe tomorrow" "OK then...just tell me what time that they'll be ready and I'll come back" "I can't tell you; like I said, I've got a bunch of things to do here" "Really?...then can you tell me when you can do them?" "I really couldn't tell you...maybe tomorrow" "I can't drive 20 minutes to your shop tomorrow on a 'maybe', can't you give me a definite time when you can do the work?" "Maybe tomorrow...I don't know" (I held out my hand and asked him for the keys back)... I said, "how about 'maybe' never?" ("and I'm not quite sure why you are in business", I thought to myself...) I walked out the door; picked up my phone in the parking lot and called someone else who said they could do the job... Update: Got my keys at KD Locksmiths in Poughkeepsie instead...nearly half the price these guys quoted and they couldn't have been more accommodating. read more

I've used them maybe 6 times in 10 yrs. First to install locks when I bought the house, then for key copies, never a bad one. A few months ago, I had to change all the locks and make 6 new sets of keys. They came out on time, installed the cylinders and gave me the keys. Price was reasonable. Nice people to deal with. As to the post about immigrants, I don't think politcs should be openly posted in a place of business. I didn't see it, but we live in an area with lots of "Rednecks", as someone I know says. Frumpies lies and racism are making Life in America horrible. Enough that Mo.S. does not to want to give them business. How many people do we interact with, whose politics we deplore and don't know. I'll take1 star away for posting in public, bad for business. read more

They don't keep their appointments and charge $200 to come out for non emergencies. SAD COMPANY. Poor customer service.

I had to get a key made for my 2013 car and it was a basic key without a computer chip. The employee behind the counter said they didn't have my blank key in stock. I went to the car dealer, who couldn't cut the key because their machine was broken, who sold me the blank which I brought back to the Locksmithery to have cut. They made me pay 5.00 cash up front and wouldn't guarantee their work since it wasn't their blank key. Needless to say, the expert key guy cut the key wrong and it didn't work in the car. I was out 5 bucks and no key. The employee said he discussed it with the owner but that was the owners policy- no guarantee and pay up front. There ought to be a law against that. Bad business policy and customer relations either way and apparently not a great trained staff either. I have the receipt and key to prove it. read more

I've been trusting them with my locks for years. Now that Lucas in Poughkeepsie is out of business, they are the most knowledgeable locksmiths in the area. From safes to padlocks, they are providing a great service to everyone who needs security - and who doesn't these days? To the reviewer who didn't like their "photo of a Native American on a horse" - lighten up kid! I thought it was hilarious, so start calling me names too. read more

The Locksmithery in Kingston, NY was great to work with. During a recent move the moving company lost the keys to a filing cabinet. Locksmithery was very expert in pointing me to the code numbers on the cabinet that would allow them to create a new key without having to come to my home. They saved me $100 dollars. After an hour and three phone calls, my wife never received a call back during an emergency situation when she was locked out of her running vehicle. She called another local locksmith, Johnnylock, who arrived five minutes later. No thanks, Locksmithery. read more
