Found that the garage door opener had stripped the plastic drive gears after 15 years of use. This is completely expected after so many years. Not having the time to repair myself, i sought out a reputable garage door repair service. The first conpany quoted ne $850 for replacement of entire opener and drive rail system. That seemed qyite high, so i reached out to Dutchess Overhead Doors. So glad I did! Jessica was terrific and very accomadating to all my questions. The price without viewing in person was approx. $550, much more on line i thought. They called the very next day and said they have an available time to come immediatly, instead of waiting a week, so I said sure. The technician, Dave Johnson, was also terrific. He was polite, explained everything he was doing, examined the existing installation and was very professional and efficient. Just an overall pleasant experience from the whole team. An additional star because of the follow up from the owner, Dan. Dan seem interested in listening to the content of my complaint, Dan listened well and apologized. He went so far as to tell me that he accepted full responsibility for putting his team under a lot of pressure. I reminded him that we are all under a lot of pressure at work but the customer needs to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Too late for my order; I wound up ordering a brand new custom door from his competitor, precision but I do believe that Dan will use this loss to improve his customer service. Hopefully, he will up customer service training. Most importantly, they can use the experience as a reminder that decades in business does not guarantee success. read more

I recently backed my car into the garage door from the outside. Since Dutchess installed the doors when we built our house, I called them. My call was returned within a half hour, and Jeff from Dutchess was at my house the next morning. He straightened the door and the track out and had the door working within 15 minutes. Our door was badly in need of service when the guy from Dutchess Overhead Doors came by and within an hour had replaced both pulleys and put in new wire to get the door opening smoothly again. Just built a detached two car garage and needed two electric lifters installed. The sales process was easy and fast. They took a credit card over the phone and were onsite in 2 days! Did an excellent job and explained everything very well. Install was clean and good quality. To be expected as they are the largest installer in the area. You see their trucks everywhere. read more

If there was 6 stars they'd get 6+ and so on. First, I do not understand these few negative reviews as they just do not make any sense. Kelly was the nicest customer Service Rep. I've ever spoken to. She was not only very helpful but kind and listened to what I needed. I had instant service from them which means a lot. The kind, helpful, respectful gentleman that Kelly dispatched to my house was Tony Molinaro. You couldn't get any nicer a person who could be more pleasant and helpful than Tony. When we bought the house, the builder purchased the doors from Dutchess Overhead Doors. The openers were installed after the fact. I never thought of calling DOD as I had a good "friend," who is no longer a friend, install my garage door opener. After a few years we had troubles with the door opener and door (the door was our fault as we hit it with the mower) and another very nice and helpful gentleman from DOD came. This entity works like I wish every entity would work; pleasant, clear, concise, honest, and quick. They fix the problems and they actually stay fixed, which is something I'm not used to. I will be selling the house and moving to Pennsylvania. I already know who I'm getting my new garage doors and installation from, DOD!! I was so happy to hear they go to Pennsylvania. They go to many areas most may not know about so ask. Their prices are also very reasonable unlike my "friend" who overcharged and left me with a few dangerous situations, one example is as follows: my "friend" did not cut the excess of the heavy duty metal bar that was sticking out and could have struck me and/or ruined my car and garage with just one contact. Nice friend! This kind tech from DOD came to fix another part of the door when he noticed this. He then cut the excess off and did not charge me. He also found a bunch of loose fittings, etc. that he tightened up and would not take a tip. If I could find him I'd send him a dinner gift certificate for a nice restaurant for sure. Like I said, I wish other entities would take a page or two or ten!! out of DOD's book of excellent customer service with professional techs who are no nonsense, pleasant and eager to help. Thank you DOD for being an upstanding company. I really don't get some of the negative reviews as they make no sense. I've had nothing but great experiences with DOD, and more than a few times. Dutchess Overhead Doors has done an installation for me personally at my home as well as at my business - Salem Fence Co. I had called them on Thursday to have them come out to service the garage door at my business (which they installed). I was told they would be down on Friday, and no one showed or called. Now, its Monday, my garage door is still broken and when I called this morning and spoke with Jeff, he said he had tried calling me on Friday and was told that there was no one at my office with my name. Furthermore, he said that Dan would not service me because he has given me other quotes for future work and doesn't want to waste his time. Wow, what a disappointment. Used these guys last year and the tech was friendly and helpful. This experience was the worst. Before he even got here, the tech said my opener was junk and would probably need to be replaced. Got here, spent less than a minute and told me I need a new opener. Then, he wanted $100 for that minute. I feel so taken advantage of. I will never use this firm and would suggest that you think long and hard before having them to your property. read more

Dutchess overhead doors installed my garage doors 3 years ago. Since then my house has been freezing. I've called them early on and they did come out and it turned out there is a big gap between the top of the door and the frame. They will do nothing to fix this. My old contractor grade doors did a much better job of insulating. Every winter I freeze now. Stay away from Dutchess if heat efficiency is a priority. read more

in December 2005 I signed a contract to have three oversized wooden garage doors installed in my new large car garage. The cost was $34,590. When the doors arrived and were installed there were problems from the start. I called the owner and he was both rude and unresponsive. He had all my money and didn't want to hear from me. I called the company who build the doors, Artisan Custom Carriage House Doors, in Pennsylvania and he told me there wasn't anything he could do since my contract was with Duchess. I hired a new company who did a lot of work to make the doors work properly, paid the new company and put this whole matter behind me. I was looking through some old papers and i saw the contract which prompted me to write this note. Be very wary of this company. If it all goes well, no problem. If there are issues, the owner may be just as nasty to you as he was to me. Buyer BEWARE! read more
