I find it very unfortunate to have to write a review like this, but it has come to this. I stayed at the Lodge from May 22nd - 25th for a dear friends wedding. I shared a room with friends that I have known for over a decade and we split the cost of the room that was around $1200. On the 24th, the day after the wedding, we slept in and didn't call for the room to be tidied up until we left for dinner. My suitcase was already packed from the night before, but as I was packing a few last items before checkout on the last morning, I realized that my towel that had a big M monogramed on it, and was almost at the top, had gone missing. It was in my suitcase under a few clothes and makeup items. I was staying in Europe for several weeks, and not always in hotels, so I had brought my own towel as well. I also realized that my Burberry scarf had gone missing. I went down to the front desk and reported this. The girls there were very friendly and made a few phone calls and said they would get back to me. I had a flight and accepted that there might have been a mistake and I left. When I arrived in Sweden, I realized that my Burberry vest was also missing. I called the hotel to let them know and luckily the girl picking up was the same girl I had spoken to in person. She suggested that I would send an email explaining everything. So I did.
A few days pass, and I receive an email from Angela Brennan, saying that they haven't found anything but they are investigating the situation.
Five more days pass and another email comes from another person, Daisy, saying that they have finalized their investigation and that nothing has been found. And that my only option is to contact the police. I asked what exactly their investigation entailed and this is what they wrote "To clarify our investigation; we spoke with the staff members who did service in the room during your stay. Next to that we pulled a report where we can see who entered your room and cross checked this with the staff members, who all have their own key card. We also checked all of our in and outgoing laundry trolleys during these days."
I asked if they were taking responsibility for the missing items that could not find, they didn't respond to the question.
I called the police, and they didn't even take the report. They just said that if the hotel can't do anything, neither can they.
I am so disappointed in this situation. I cannot believe I paid so much money to have my personal belongings jacked in the hotel room. I cannot shove all my expensive clothes into the safe. And my towel, it wasn't worth much but it was in my suitcase under several items. Even if they thought that it belonged to the hotel, they should not have touched it.
So there, I got robbed. The hotel pretended that it was a misunderstanding. They felt that "sorry, we asked around but nobody has seen it" was a sufficient answer. And that's that.
I do not recommend this place. read more
