I've stayed in a few different rooms at this point, and they have all been elegantly and luxuriously appointed, with every detail already thought out. I was also bummed that you cannot visit the castle, only if you have reservations like dinner or spa activities that you pay for, you cannot just walk into the castle, even if you were staying at the lodge. Overall, the food was amazing there, the restaurant on the second floor was absolutely amazing. The short rib was out of this world. The room was absolutely beautiful, but again there were spiders here and there in the lodge and the rooms (which honestly can't be avoided) which literally paralyzes me in fear so I personally won't be back but if a spider or three doesn't bother you this place and the castle to stay is definitely the best in Ireland. The service was also top notch as well. Be prepared to have to reserve all activities in person with concierge when you get to the hotel or call beforehand as they might be booked up.

From the small back deck you can look over this town all the way to the high cliffs that drop into the ocean, creating picturesque views of the orange, red and pink sunset. We arrived to a small sign personally welcoming us. Niall and Darra treated us like family while we stayed at their house and even dined at their table. They were personally acquainted with the entire area and gave us honest recommendations for spending our days there. We were able to see the Cliffs without crowds because of their directions. We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. We ended the night by enjoying local music at O'Connor's Pub just a minute walk from the Sea View. We would highly recommend staying at the Sea View for at least a few nights on your trip to Ireland. The stately castle hotel, part of the Relais and Chateau association, is a welcoming beacon in the Connemara. Adjacent to a trout/salmon stream just a mile from the ocean and featuring extensive woodland walking trails, one can't help but feel at peace. In fact there's an overwhelming feeling of coziness and calm in the spacious suites with a view to the woods and water. Our suite, #36 was so quiet and beautiful it was a treat returning to it after exploring the wild Atlantic way. The two easy chairs with views quickly became our his/hers perches for reflection. Our superior king suite itself was very large with a four poster bed and ample room to spread out and settle in while the generous bathroom with its tub, shower, two sinks and make up desk added to our comfort. With its two restaurants the fisherman's pub (casual) and fine dining Owenmore restaurant one never need seek sustenance elsewhere. The beautiful breakfast that was included provided masterfully cooked to order entrees along with a sumptuous buffet each morning to get you started on your day of exploration. There are 20+ rooms and some have balconies. Most rates come with breakfast which they serve continental early 7am-9am, and full Irish breakfast begins later at 9AM. The hotel restaurant and bar on premise are quite good. It's a short/easy 5 min walk from the hotel to the center of town. They contract with local tour guides to pick you up if you wish to take an island tour. The front desk is pretty strict about check-in and didn't let us check in before 3PM even though we were on the 10:30AM ferry that got in around 11:30AM, but they do let you store your luggage behind the front desk. P.S. They tend to have a lot of weddings at this hotel as there are banquet tents, so be prepared for potential parties (bachelor or bachelorette) on certain weekends.

It's about a 30 minute drive to Galway and 45 minutes to Connemara. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay here again!
