We both ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich for a late lunch. It was 7/10 good. Served hot. The meat was okay but without any BBQ sauce kinda just so so.....! The Coleslaw was disappointing and disgusting....just green cabbage in milk!!! This is the South...and they don't know how to make Coleslaw????? Really??? As for the French Fries....I do believe that they are just FROZEN SEASONED fries... NO EFFORT to have FRESH CUT FRIES. I'm not gonna brag..TOO MUCH, but in Oregon and Idaho MOST places do have fresh cut fries available, YUM!!! Leave those frozen fries for MickyDee to serve, not a FULL SERVICE BBQ RESTAURANT that actually does have a nice selection of beer on tap... We were not thrilled by our experience at The Lodge in Ft Myers FL. Come here for cold beer, happy hour, lots of sports tvs, good side-dishes, and food for the kids. We loved our friendly server, and the clean bright décor is cute is a kitschy touristy way, like a wood ski-lodge, including a wall-length light-up view of the alps (sometimes), and a huge Kodiak bear where everyone poses for pictures :-) But when we were seated outside, the wood tabletop was sticky. I think it had been wiped, but was just an bad material that needed resealing or replacement so that Florida humidity doesnt make it feel tacky. No fun. We got the duck-wing app, and asked for not-spicy. It was fiery hot! Hey, some will love that, but we knew we didn't want it spicy. And it really wasnt sweet. We usually like the rich juiciness of duck wings, but this was a fail for us because of the sauce. The fried green tomatoes were just dull. Not crispy. Not flavorful. Maybe cooked at too low a temperature? The patty melt was just ok. Not super tender, not super juicy, not super flavorful. Just nothing to write home about. The pork sandwich was dry and plain. We're used to super tender flavorful Cuban sandwiches. I'd rate this sandwich as not quite ok. But kids probably would eat as much of this as they eat of any meal. What food did we like? The mac and cheese! Creamy! Perfectly cooked! Flavored just right with crispy tasty bacon! Eat this and you will smile! The home-made potato chips! Crispy, crunchy, salty. Beer me with these chips! So, sure, come here, especially with the kids, or with your beer-buddies at happy hour weekdays 2-5pm. Watch sports on a million screens! Eat side dishes and chips! Enjoy the tourist-trap gimmicks! Have fun with the nice staff. If you find out which are the good sandwiches, please review them for everyone to not make the mistakes we made. Stopped in for dinner on a weekday night and snagged a couple of seats at the bar. It filled in quickly after that! We got our drink orders in and decided on dinner. The food came out VERY fast. My wife got a Pulled Chicken Sandwich with Baked Beans, and I got the Bison Meatloaf with Okra and Corn for my sides. Meatloaf was very good, and the gravy even had mushroom slices in it. The corn was tasty as was the okra. My wife's pulled chicken was pretty good, there are a few different sauces to top it with... The beans are a combo of beans and meat - not paticularly sugary or barbeque flavored, but I just add a bit of sauce to adapt them to my liking. The bartender was very personable and was covering the entire bar, drinks for the restaurant, and tables nearby. Not sure why she had all those areas, but she was doing an admirable job keeping up. I will start by saying I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The place was quite deceiving and well decorated. Our service was good, nothing extra, but as you'd expect to get. Problem was the food. A three star yelp review means OK, and it was just that. Appetizer, were the burnt ends, more fat than meat, a bit overpriced, and the sauce was very sweet, like BBQ boneless pork at a Chinese place. My wife had the chicken fried steak. It was ok also, she preferred her sides (Said the fries were excellent) and her asparagus was also good. I had the pick two, bison meatloaf and turkey. One thick slice of smoked turkey with a more rubber consistency and the smoke was too much. I travel, I eat BBQ, this was in the smoker way too long. The bison meatloaf was the star of the show, unfortunately they had to bring in the understudy. Wrapping the tasteless bison log in bacon to elevate the flavor only served to coat the outside of the slice of meat log with fat. It was ugly. Didnt taste good. I've had bison in many places on several occasions, what this place did to that poor animal is criminal. They dont deserve two stars but they also dont deserve 4. DHOP is around the corner and is far more satisfying. read more

They seem to offer a broad selection of craft beer & have a big sit-at bar. Food was good - not amazing, but would return. fyi - chili has a ton of beans so if you're a no-bean chili person, this is not for you. Our waitress, Lizzie, was fantastic! Tonight we stopped in for dinner. First impression was great TVs different sports on each TV. Very nice bartender. Off to a good start! Quickly turned! All of sudden every TV was turned to Soccer. We asked for the game we were watching to be put back on and were told No. When asked why, the server told us because my manager said so. We asked to see the manager. We had to ask twice. She eventually approached with an attitude but did put the game back on one TV. I then proceeded to order a Brisket Reuben. When the sandwich was delivered it arrived with only half the ingredients. No thousand island and no sauerkraut. The bartender even commented that everyone knows a Reuben has thousand island. She brought me the dressing. But when I asked about the sauerkraut the manager came out and told me her chef had been there eight years and tried to place the blame on me. I told her that perhaps she should have her chef read the menu because the ingredients are clearly listed. She brought me a side of sauerkraut but then refused to serve us any further. Needless to say we won't be going back and would highly recommend skipping this restaurant as mediocre seems to be their standard. read more

Visited The Lodge with my team for a celebration. The ambiance was awesome. I really felt like I was in a cabin somewhere in the mountains except we were in sunny florida when we walked out! I knew as soon as I saw they had Brussel sprouts I had to order! I'm allergic to pecans so I ordered them on the side but the spicy bacon jam and goat cheese on top was an absolute dream! I'm so glad I ordered these I'd definitely go back just for the Brussels! Now my entree was not that great. I ordered the Fish n Chips which was listed on the menu as "A Lodge Favorite" not sure who's favorite this was but it definitely missed the mark. The fish was huge which had me excited when it first got to the table but it was lacking flavor. I added lemon but it was still missing some flavor. I boxed it up and gave it to a unhoused person nearby. Overall a good experience and I would go back just would order a different entree next time. This place has some truly good food. My family enjoyed all of their meals. I ended up ordering the short rib bone in plate for two. My qualm was the short rib could've been more tender. It was not fall off the bone. But it still was good. The sides are good. I enjoyed, the corn cake. The place was not busy, well staffed, manager on duty. Our server was soooooooo slow and one point disappeared for a half hour, it was to the point where my fiancé was jokingly concerned for her safety and asked, "do you think she was abducted?" I asked another server if she could grab her for us, nothing. Finally asked a manager and explained we've been waiting for 30 mins and he's like "oh I'll find her" Lmao like dude just take care of your customers. Empty glasses for 30 mins. I have been twice lately. The first time the bar was empty, so I had great service. The BBQuban sandwich is so good. Just the right amount of everything...dip it in your favorite style sauce and you will be good to go. Delicious!!!!! The Lodge lives up to its name in terms of atmosphere too. Just what you would expect. The second time I went back was because I was craving the BBQuban. Very busy in late October, but I luckily found a seat at the bar, an excellent bartender, and yes a delicious sandwich. I did not like the cole slaw though. Just choose something else.
