This was the first place i went to when i moved to Jax 2 months ago. the drinks were good for the price and the DJ was good on that first visit. went back a week ago and it was like a totally different bar. I'd give it 3.5 stars, if possible. All right. Not my go to unless someone else wants to go and I'm not driving. The music is on point! This bar shows movies on the walls, which is great when I need 10 minutes of down time. LOFT is EXTREMELY casual. I feel so dressy when I wear my leopard pants, haha. Cons: - smells like a dirty mop - drinks are so-so - cover is usually cheap or free (maybe because I use my face card, haha). Pros: - MUSIC. Lots of trendy indie hits (a bit of a contradiction) - Okay crowd. Mainly college-aged kids and older hipsters, but nothing too bad. read more

Really fun place for dancing and mingling with friends; I love to do both. It's pretty popular, so it does get super crowded/sweaty as the night goes on. I hung out in the VIP section upstairs for a couple of hours near the end of the night, which actually isn't stuffy but has a different vibe than the rest of the venue. Come here to get your groove on with an unpretentious and relaxed Jacksonville crowd--minus the guy trying to pick up girls by pretending to read at the bar tee hee. read more

What a disappointment! I love Riverside and was so excited to finally go here, but it is sooo overrated. The drinks were just so-so, nothing special and a bit pricey. The space is fabulous with exposed beams and of course, a loft with couches. But I can't see the point of the couches because it is so uncomfortably loud in there you can't hear anything anyone can say. We finally had to leave because it was too loud to enjoy. No one was dancing so I don't see the point of it being so loud. It seemed like they were trying too hard or something. The Loft could take pointers from Dos Gatos downtown. They have better drinks and music, and you can actually talk to people. read more

It's a bar with some good music. Don't expect too much but it will definitely satisfy your thirst for some cocktails and music. The crowd turned up a little past midnight and it was crowded for a Thursday night. read more

Visited it twice and had no issues... was at the bar drinking and had purchased two Moscow mules for 11.50.. my friend buys the samething 20-30 minutes later and all of the sudden the price just about doubles. I ask the bartender why the price went up and told what I payed 11.50 and she responds "no you didn't" immediately walks away and dumps both drinks. He gets a male bartenders attention and tells him what happened only for the man to get an attitude and say "we don't work for free" Implying we don't tip... I tell him I always tip after the last drink and his response is "I didn't see what happened but the bartender you had an issue with before is coming back and until then you will not be served" immediately I come to my senses and think to myself ok I'll just go somewhere else and as I'm more than half way out the bar a tall security guard comes up behind me and tells me as I'm leaving that I need to leave.. I walk out and turn around and ask why I needed to be "escorted" out and an older,heavier bearded bouncer replies " because I creeped out the bartender" I laugh and say ok I called her out for marking up the price but fair enough.. if I'm going to creep it's definitely not going to be on an overweight blonde bartender with an attitude. I'm a decent looking guy that has no issue talking to females. Needless to say I won't be back. Pathetic. read more

Oh The LOFT...so much I could say, one of them being this will be the source of MANY good nights to come, if you love to dance, greet yourself with a shot of Vodka and have at it. Very comfortable 'cheers-esque environment where everyone knows everyone, expect to see normally the same crowd with the exception of handful of curious sightseers. Always a fun-filled experience, never a disappointing night. The only thing one could say would be better would be drink specials. Expect to spend a couple bucks if you are looking to get the most out of your night. Other than that small oversight , different days have different events, such as Thursdays your drink FREE PBR from 9p-10p if you are on the list; $3 otherwise, Saturdays are usually when you can expect to see large crowds with long lines, bring BETTER entertainment. you will more than often see migrates from The Pearl located here, if you knew of the myth once called The Pearl then you know the outstanding chaos you are up against. This could go as a bar/small club. Love the decor in this place, and the big screen plays some awesome remix videos to the live DJ music. They also have two TVs over the bar that plays movies on repeat. Thursdays are good nights to go if you want to have fun and people watch. Expect to show up around 10:30-11 for when it starts to get going. So many different walks of life come here. Mainly a hipster venue (due to the area it's in), but you'll get anyone and everyone in this place. Great music, and drinks are slightly over priced in my opinion. They have a small separate intimate bar in the back to the left that serves some good beer. They have an outside smoking area for all of you smokers which is great for us non-smokers inside. Guys this is a great place to get some girls as well. I would certainly and plan to take any of my out of town friends here to have fun. I've had so many good nights here, and many more to come in the future! read more

The LOFT is likely the most hopping hotspot in Riverside these days. The open, funky decor and bumping bass keep the dance floor packed and the drinks flowing right up to closing time. In the main room you'll find an eclectic mix of people breaking it down to Katy Perry, MGMT, Juvenile and more underneath a sprawling spiderweb of rope and metal. I also enjoy the total randomness that plays on a projector to the side of the dance floor. (i.e.The Shining.) Walk down a hallway at the rear of the space to find an intimate second bar with low lights and a different music selection; a little indie/80's hideaway from the bump and grind of the front room. Each time I've been to LOFT the service was efficient and friendly, with the bartenders systematically doling out drinks to an always sizeable crowd. It gets a little too packed for me on Thursdays and Saturdays but Fridays here have been great! read more

Being a new lesbian transplant from Seattle, The Loft was recommended as a safe place for homos and a fun place to dance, my experience was very far from this. Last night I attended their thursday night dance party. I was having fun dancing with a girl and went to the bar to buy her a drink. As I stood there someone grabbed my butt. I turned around and there were 3 guys standing behind me. I returned my attention to the bar and my butt got grabbed 3 more times. I turned around and looked into the eyes of all of the men standing behind me and asked them to stop grabbing me and that it made me uncomfortable. They laughed. I returned my attention to the bar and the bartender asked what he could do for me. I told him he could get me a yeungling and I told him that these guys behind me were grabbing my ass and it made me uncomfortable. As I said this my butt got grabbed again. I felt very validated and asked if he saw who did it. The same three guys stood behind me laughing. The bartender walked away from me. He didn't get me a drink. When he came back around he told me to go chat with him over on the side. I told him everything that happened, and he said "what did they do?" I grabbed his butt to show him and he immediately shouted out that I had harassed him and got his bouncers to kick me out of the bar. So that's what your gonna get if you go to loft dressed in a baseball cap and suspenders and try and buy drinks for pretty girls. read more

I am new to Jacksonville Florida, via a job relocation. As a Single working professional in the Financial Services Industry, my weekends are free and I have disposable income to spend. I was first bored with some bars near my place, and was told to check out bars near JAX beach. So after work on Friday, I made the spontaneous decision to call up a UBER BLACK driving service to take me down to a bar / club called The Loft. The online posting for it sounded like it was near JAX beach. I arrived at the Loft Club, there was a long line, so I thought this club may be worth the wait. I thought correctly , when I got in, the girl to guy ratio was for every guy there were 4 girls. So this place got a big thumbs up from me. I enjoyed the music, the crowd, and made some new JAX buddies and hung out with some guys from Philly, where I am originally born and raised. Had a blast ! The only glitch was that the guys from Philly who live in Jax told me that this bar is not in JAX BEACH, and is located on the other side of JAX beach , lol. Oh well, I always am bad with directions, but still had a great time for a non-jax beach bar/club. read more

Went there on a whim and had a blast! I'm from the Beaches, so I dont' get to check out the downtown/Riverside scene very often...it is was definitely worth the drive, granted I wasn't the DD;) Really open space with a modern/rustic decor if you can imagine it. Is there anyway I can give this a negative review?!?! The only kudos I give was the bartenders they were professional and very quick to help with your orders. Everything else just reminded me if a horror film where we go to get killed by Jason or something. My friends and I got in there and was okay with the size of the place till it got really crowded. It started to become a game of where can I find a spot to breath. Secondly, everyone was making out and grabbing ass with loud music rolling. That is a normal bar atmosphere but I think the drinking coupled with the weird crowd bumping and grinding on each other with the videos of old black and white films on the walls really freaked us out. Please please please, anyone going to visit Jacksonville, GO TO JACKSONVILLE BEACH bars!! It's worth it!!! LOVE this friggin place. My buds and I go here on a regular basis (every Thursday) and we always have a great time. We hit the Rogue next door for a little pregaming and then will LOFT it up until they shut down. First time to Jacksonville, visiting from South Florida. It was crowded and nearly impossible to move around nonetheless dance. Finally my friend and I got a table - relief! We could just enjoy the music. Then CRASH a beer bottle fell from the VIP - a second story area that is only guarded by some horizontal wires. It should really be closed off, or at least have a real fence/guard along the edge. We tried to talk with the bouncers of the VIP about it who only told us "If I don't have a name, I can't do anything". Yah - right. Like as the beer bottle fell on my head someone shouted down a name. He started getting smart with my friend and yelling at HER! I'm sorry-- I'm the one who could be physically injured. We got his name and tried to find the manager at the bar, who just kept smiling at me and trying to give me a free drink. I had enough drinks for the night - I had to drive home the next day and was already switched over to water. But he kept saying "no no, what are you drinking?" I realized we were getting no where with the bouncer or the manager - they didn't give a crap what just happened and that their VIP area is dangerous to people sitting below. He gave me my free drink as my friend pulled a shard of glass out of my hair. I hope someone sues them one day. read more

i'm only giving a one star bc the music was good & the bartenders were nice. my girls & i went for a girls night out & this 40 year old woman had a problem w us. idk if it was bc her bf kept dancing on us (which we had to push away several times) but at the end of the night she purposely bumped into my friend & had the audacity to come over & threaten us. though of course when u talk shit, u get hit so my friend punched her & we walked OUT. then they followed us outside W THE SECURITY GUARD & the bf man handled me, even pushing me so hard my feet left the ground & my friends broke my fall. the security guard then proceeded to tell us that we're talking shit when we needed to leave. WE WERENT EVEN ON THEIR PROPERTY AT THIS POINT. we walked back to the car, & hopefully my friend dropped something when we ruffled again on the other end cause when we turned around one of the other men that was w the woman was following us & we noticed him & even asked why he was even after us. he continued to approach me & emptied out his bottle of beer & was ready to hit me w it. idk whether or not it is illegal or not to have alcohol outside the bar but i'm 100% sure he wasn't allowed to even threaten a female w it. YET, the security guard watched the whole thing & didn't even tell him he was wrong for provoking another incident. we will never go back, females apparently aren't safe & the security guard (this particular one) doesn't care. i find it odd because the whole ordeal ended when we got kicked out & we were leaving. but the security guard felt the need to follow this group of people to follow us outside & encourage another fight. it's outrageous. it's should be protocol to stop anyone from following you, especially after an incident at the bar. or even following u w a bottle in hand. read more
