What a shock! I didn't know what I was getting myself into as a nestled myself to this door that I definitely wasn't sure I was allowed to go in! Only to find the most vibe forward loungey club I'd experienced before. It was a late Saturday night and I walked in without any idea where I was going, but I was pleased and shocked! Hubby and I were out and about on Friday night. We stopped in for some live music at The Parlour. We ordered some cocktails and enjoyed the show. I had a Don Johnson and he had an Old Fashioned. We went last night to celebrate my friend's birthday, and the energy behind the bar was shockingly rude and unwelcoming. Short attitudes, dismissive responses, and a general sense that we were an inconvenience just for being there. It wasn't just us either -- the couple sitting next to us was treated just as poorly. For a place that relies so heavily on atmosphere, the staff completely undermines it. Met friends for the poop up Christmas shop and the decor was fun and festive, drinks were fun and served in cute festive glasses. It's very popular and was very busy and loud. This is a hidden gym. Believe it or not, it's hidden in the open. I frequent businesses in this area, and when I went here I was very much surprised where the GPS took me. Went out for a night out in the town and had a blastttt. A Low key vibe, perfect ambiance great drinks, wonderful customer service. I can't say enough good things about this place. I will be back. Over and over again. This spot is connected to Grape and Grain, which has great ambiance, lovely customer service and a great amount of rare whiskey to enjoy and purchase. Wanna get a drink? I've been back and enjoyed myself waaaay too many times (since the visit from hell) to not update this review (apologies for the delay)! So here goes: Dear Parlour, I love you! From the handcrafted, fantastic cocktails to the stellar live music sets that I've thoroughly enjoyed. Shouts out to the 6 piece jazz band and the Band Be Easy nights. Don't even get me started on the remodel and facelift that changed the speakeasy aesthetic and sent the (already great) Parlour vibes to the moon. What an amazing experience we had when we visited last Friday evening. We arrived a little early in an attempt to beat the crowd. The decor is amazing and will put take you back in time to prohibition. The menu is printed on an old school newsletter, super cool. The food and drinks were amazing. I do love this places vibe but the main bartender (he looks like the guy from SpongeBob that hides the pickles under his tongue) is beyond rude. He got upset at my boyfriend due to him not having a paper coaster under his drink (honest mistake), got frustrated that I wanted him to add more sweetener to my cocktail, and just all around not pleasant. read more

She hooked me up with a bourbon event with Angel's Envy- I got to hit several Jacksonville bars trying unique cocktails with the bourbon and support planting new trees. Nestled behind The Grape & Grain Winery in the heart of historic San Marco, one will find The Parlour Speakeasy. Talk about a hidden gem! I went last night while visiting from Tampa. There are two entrances to access the speakeasy, one through passing through the winery, and the other by accessing the doorway in the back in the alleyway. The ambience is top notch, with an intimate setting and fantastic decor. The drinks are also stellar. I ordered the Old Cuban. It was so delicious that I even ordered a second. I'm so grateful that I finally got to visit last night as The Parlour has been on my bucket list for months. read more

Downright my favorite bar in Jax . I LOVE it . It is such a classy yet fun lounge . Lovely atmosphere and staff is literally the bomb! Tonight my server was Faith and she was absolutely amazing . She was kind to me when I entered and listened to what I liked in a cocktail . She suggested "winters is coming " which is a whiskey based cocktail with a flaming cinnamon on top stick on top. It was extraordinary.To say the least I ordered two . It was honestly just that good . Infact if I was bad I would have had three ( or if I was a bit richer ) . Cocktails are not cheap here but they are worth every penny . Tonight they also had live music, in fact they typically have live music every friday and Saturday for a couple hours. Updated 2/5/16 Recapping since my last visit a weekend ago, they currently are not booking jazz bands! Waitress misspoke about noise complaints holding them back, but another fellow behind the bar explained they were not making enough money to afford the gigs. Which surprised me since my last visit the place was shoulder to shoulder, and drinks are $7-13. I hope they muster up some finances and bring back in a jazz band because sadly, it took away its uniqueness. You can have a drink in any bar blasting Pandora Top Hits. Old review: Yelp once again does not disappoint. Very cool to experience a speakeasy. The entrance from outside is low-key, and only reason I figured it may be it would be the glowing blue light- that or a strip club lol I honestly was in awe of the interior for a good ten minutes. Beautiful chandelier, glass stained mosaic, magenta lighting.. just so cool and different. And with cool and different comes a price, expect every drink $10 or above. But to their credit they are very well made cocktails. He made my basil mojito on the mark. Great jazz band and meet some great company, we actually went out tearing up the town together for the rest of the night. Can't wait to show folks who visit us here in Jax, this true gem! read more

It was clearly a case of Serendipity for me and my co-workers as we saddled up to the bar to have cocktails. I had not experienced the pass through section to the speakeasy-style bar in the back of Grape & Grains in San Marco. It was a cool scene in the bar area that reminded me of numerous little jazz bars in NYC, complete with a full array of cocktail fixtures. We found the bartender to be quite friendly and he really knew his menu inside and out in addition to being able to adapt recipes to our requests. Reading into the cocktail menu was easy and we tried every listing to share as if it was liquid treasure. As we departed after round three or four, I made a note to return with more friends as this venue is meant to be shared in good company. read more

Yikes. This place used to be awesome and one of my favorite spots in Jacksonville. I went last night, after not having been in almost a year, and it has completely gone downhill. I took an out of town guest after bragging about how cool this "speakeasy" was. Now, you just go through the side door without a hostess there to seat you and I don't think you can go through the bookcase in the back of Grape & Grain any more. We sat down and ordered drinks from their menu and list of spirits/beer/wine, etc. They were out of Jameson, Bullet, Lagunitas and the Brut Rose sparkling. So basically they were out of everything we ordered, which is not a good sign. Last time I was here they had a killer jazz band playing. This time, it seemed like open mic night and younger guys trying to play the sax louder than the other. The lighting in the place has changed as well and it's brighter than it used to be. Instead of an upscale crowd, it was trashy with some pompous old people sprinkled in who sat by us and squeezed 8 people at a table meant for two, constantly hitting the backs of our chairs. I had to ask for my tab twice so we could finally leave. To summarize, if you frequented The Parlour the first year or so it was open, just keep that memory as it is and stay far away from it now! read more

This is the definition of a craft cocktail / pre prohibition / speak easy and there isn't anything like it within 100 miles. If you don't understand what a sazerac, bee's knees or a vieux care are you won't appreciate the true beauty of this place. They have live entertainment and their liquor prices are extremely reasonable for the quality booze they stock and pour, so even if you are new to the cocktail scene you will enjoy it. You have to make an "appointment" to get in and you kind of have to go to G&G Ex first so you are paying for drinks both there and then again when you go into the Speakeasy. This is the first place we visited almost 3 years ago when trying to decide if we would make the move. I've wondered if we went back would it still be as awesome as the first time? I'm here to tell you it is! The music is just the right volume without being overwhelmingly loud where you can't have a quiet conversation. The drinks are a-ma-zing. When I'm at a bar with great bartenders, I usually ask them to make their favorite drink and let them know anything but gin. This trip did not disappoint. I had a variety of rum drinks that were just excellent. There is a side entrance to get in or you can go through the grape and grain exchange entrance and make your way to the back. Its dark/dimly lit and just the perfect way to start or end your night. I did see a small sign at the bar that they have partnered with Town Hall to provide food delivery after 3pm. This means you can spend even more time here...why not make a night of it? I know we will next time! read more

This is a hidden gem of Jacksonville! My husband and I went out with another couple for their birthday which started out at World of Beer. After eating and partaking in a few drinks beforehand we wanted to find a place that we could relax and have some drinks that wasn't a club or a loud bar. Our friend had found this place called Grape & Grain and we figured we'd go check it out. G&G was a pretty ecclectic/hipster type mini-bar, but we had seen pictures online of this sliding bookcase that lead to somewhere else...after talking to one of our bartenders, we learned that there was an entrance to The Parlour next door (which can be accessed by said bookcase when they have it open). WOW! The blue mood lighting to the speak-easy feel of this place was just what we were looking for! There was a nifty jazz band playing on the stage that night which really added to the feel. We had some traditional absinthe and I got a cosmo as well because I tend to base my judgments on how well a place can make a cosmo. Can't wait to go back! read more

We had a great time....at the start. Low key, cool vibe, great night starting. My wife was celebrating her birthday and I sang her happy birthday on stage- not obnoxiously and wasn't harming anyone. The "manager" asked us (all eight of us) to leave. Not to step away and stop singing, but to leave. I proceeding to get my credit card and the bartender was a complete jerk- saying "he" didn't have my card. It was obviously behind the bar but he was trying to instigate a situation. We left, or at least tried to leave but the punk kids behind the bar tried to be men and yell and start something. All that had to be done was ask us me to stop singing happy birthday to my wife. Done. Instead he lost business and future business. If I were owner the manager would be fired in a heart beat. By the way- we are two doctors and 2 police officers with wives just having a good time. Nothing crazy. A very nice hip cocktail bar with live music. It positions itself as a speakeasy, but I think they've just decided to make it accessible to a wider audience. As a result, there is a sizable crowd with half of the people not being able to sit down. That being said, the rest is executed with excellence. The decor is chic, bartenders are meticulous at making each cocktail (I mistook that for lack of experience), and a music is great. Real gem of San Marco. I haven't lived in the area for 15 years and it's nice to finally see places like that showing up. I certainly be back there again. read more
