They even started salting the stairs during the winter freezes after rain! The stairs were treacherous without salt. They actually answer the phone and are prompt to respond through email as well. The first location was an apartment, and we constantly had issues with ants that were never dealt with properly. They also were very slow to ice the sidewalk, and the stairs were out of code so they were a constant danger in the winter. We checked everything when we moved out to make sure there was no damage other than what we noted when we moved in. When we left, they said we damaged paint and blamed us for the heat not working (they never fixed it when we mentioned it SEVERAL TIMES) so, in addition to taking months to process, we didn't get our deposit back. We stayed at the second location for 2 years because we didn't want to deal with the hassle of moving everything again. The rent for the second location went up $50 after renewing it after the first year, and there were no improvements made to the house to justify that. The place didn't even have a dishwasher, and we constantly had problems with mice, which they didn't fix. There was not a single level line in the entire house. I think that a group of chimpanzees with hammers could probably build a better structure. The top of one of the doors was cut at probably a 30 degree angle to match the equally janky trim surrounding it. The flooring was very sketchy as well. You couldn't see anything wrong in the photos because of the god-awful brown carpet, but the entire floor bowed wildly, and the sub-floor was missing sections, creating weird divots. The electrical system in the house was also concerning to say the least. A couple of the outlets were these weird 4 plug abominations that were super loose and lacked any ground pins. One of the outlets in the living room wasn't attached to the wall, so if you tried to unplug something it pulled the entire outlet out. One of the bedrooms only had one single outlet, and was clearly just made by separating a larger bedroom into two unreasonably small ones. The house also had central AC and heat, but most of the rooms were set up incorrectly, with only air out, or, in the case of the one-outlet bedroom, were entirely left out of the system. Because they refuse to update anything, the only options for internet are cable companies (don't even get me started on spectrum) with no other real options. Fiber internet would be available in most of their properties, but they don't have it installed because they're cheap and you can't get it installed yourself because of their "no improvements" rule. Because they have what is in all ways a monopoly on student housing in BG, they can charge whatever they feel like for these cheaply built, poorly maintained shacks. This is a horrible, immoral company that does not deserve your money.

They should be more forthcoming about things like that as it can make or break a deal and waste your time! From what I saw the apartments are ok but not exactly what I would call 5 star.

Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with my experience. The staff are friendly, and have always responded quickly to my requests for maintenance assistance. They happily replaced my refrigerator after issues with the freezer keeping it cold. I've also enjoyed the pool - it is well-kept, and open from around Memorial Day through Labor Day. The laundry room is generally clean, and I've never had a problem with machine availability. Currently, at $1.25 per load the cost proves manageable. I wish the laundry room were open 24/7, but have certainly been able to work with the 8am-10pm hours. You can walk to downtown in about 10 minutes, and BGSU is a 20-25-minute walk, a c. 10-minute bike ride, or 5-minute drive away. Summit Terrace also offers a shuttle service to campus and possibly a few other locations??, which I have not used extensively but would certainly be a plus for those without a car. Mostly students, young families, and some retired folks live here. The atmosphere is generally quiet and friendly, which I have appreciated! Feels safe, my apartment is quite spacious, and rent is reasonable for the quality of living. I would definitely recommend Summit Terrace as an ideal BG apartment complex!

THEY ARE DELETING MY COMMENT: SOMEONE ALMOST GOT ROBBED. Y'all terrible!…read more This is a terrible place to live. The staff is inexperienced and unprofessional. Words can't even describe the experience I had with this property. There were shootings on the premises, so the place isn't safe. When we first moved in to the unit, it wasn't clean. When asked if the property manager could help she said she couldn't and told us that the roommates had to clean the downstairs. The kitchen was not cleaned either we tried to ask if property manager could help with the kitchen she said they weren't responsible for the kitchen only the rooms. My friend moved back into the apartment and the downstairs still isn't cleaned! I really hope someone sues them. There is a such thing as renters law, search it up, Brooklynn! Roommates: As for the roommates the property manager told us that they had previous problems with the roommates they moved us in with and decided to still put us in the unit. We said no dogs on our paper and they put us with dogs anyway. If you knew about the roommates then why even put us in a situation like that? Property Manager: We asked the manager to help us multiple times. We shouldn't have to beg her to help us out. Customers should be your main priority. As for the shooting, yes, there were two incidents were shoots were fired on campus. I lived in one of the houses were shoots were fired (when a person was shoot). A parent was informed on this incident and when she talked to the property manager about finding a new place for us to stay her answer was "no". Then eventually we got set in a motel for two days. If we ain't say nothing she would've just kept us there smh. I even sent the property manager a text over a question I had and she answered negatively and rudely. Then when I called the staff I asked questions and they said that I "harassed" them. It's like they can't handle me asking them questions. Maintenance: There maintenance is the best. They have really good maintenance. I put in a work order and maintenance came the next day and fixed my sink. That's the only good thing about this place. Clearly, if you don't like people asking questions then why are you even working here? It's clear you don't like your jobs and you don't care about the students at all you only want the money. If I could give zero stars I would. The only way you could help me is by finding a new property manager someone older, mature, and actually cares about the students. Or someone that isn't easily "intimidated" by questioning. Overall, I will not be renewing my lease with them and leaving Copper Beech. Afterwards, I didn't receive a deposit back! If you have problems with BROOKLYNN then talk to Derek Germann at assets living! Derek Germann is her boss and corporate. After the situation, BROOKLYNN came in my messages and was disrespecting me. How unprofessional!

Too be honest, my review would've been like 3 stars up until move out, because even with that it was still an okay place to live, but the move out process is just awful. They WILL try to charge you as much as possible, for things that didn't require repair or cleaning. They will nickel and dime you for normal wear and tear, even though it is listed in the lease that they wouldnt. Cooper Beech will make it as hard as possible to get into contact with somebody about this, they will ignore your calls, your voicemails, and your emails. To be quite honest, the only Copper Beech employee that was helpful was Remi, the AI robot service, because it was the only employee to actually respond to me when I had questions, Even when they did respond, it would be days, sometime longer, and it would often be an automated message that didn't respond to the actual content in my email. I actually can't believe that this place operates in this manner, it's completely unprofessional and goes beyond what I would even except a company with such horrible ratings would do. Do yourself a favor, do not live here. You will be yelled at, ignored, and at the end, they will try and suck as much money as they possibly can out of you and just hope you are okay with it. FYI all the reviews by Daniel McBride are fake, he is one of the general managers at copper beech and also The Scion Group and is putting five star reviews to boost their yelp score. Just sad and corny.
