I am currently going to Melissa - she does a wonderful job and checks in throughout the session about pressure, comfort, and reminds to relax and breathe. Wow! I've tried a few massage spots in Nashville now, and The Lotus Room is definitely my favorite so far! You'd have no idea it was located on the busy 21st Avenue. The space is incredibly calming, and you can tell so much intention went into the design and layout. The receptionist was incredibly nice and helpful. I honestly felt right at home! I also appreciate that they have parking available. I did the 45 min. Vedic Head Massage with Austin and it was amazing! They focus on your scalp, face/jaw, neck, shoulders, briefly the arms/hands. First time visiting. I booked the Ayurveda massage. This includes dry brushing, massage, and head massage. I added the eye mask and heat therapy on the back and stomach. The place is very nice and clean you are not allowed to wear shoes when you enter. Everyone walks around barefoot or with socks(you bring your own socks). The receptionist was very nice and my masseuse Lindsey was very nice and offered to wear a mask. So the massage was good however I was looking for more of massage that's like a Swedish massage. That's probably my fault for not paying attention to what I booked I guess. Anywho i wasn't a fan of the dry brushing it's a lil abrasive so I opted out of that. I booked a 60 min Healing Herb Restore Massage after a long day to travel from a work trip that ended with so much tension in my neck and shoulders that I would barely move my head. I decided to book a much needed massage last minute at The Lotus Room located just a 6min walk from the hotel I stayed for my girlfriends bachelorette weekend. As you walk in the Spa you need to take your shoes off and wear a mask. Once in, the energy is so relaxing and peaceful. The spa is so beautifully decorated and the staff so welcoming. They immediately offered me tea or water as I filled out my intake form. To my surprise I had been assigned to a male healer. I wasn't sure how I felt about that as I had a really bad experience in the past and said to myself I wouldn't do that again however I just went with the flow and didn't say anything. Paolo! You were so Professional, Caring to my needs, Gentle and Respectful. I chose a Deep Tissue massage. He concentrated on my shoulders and neck as I requested. I should have written a review here ages ago but I actually worked at Yelp at the time I went here and wasn't allowed to. I came in early 2019 during one of the roughest periods of my life - I went through several months of extreme insomnia and anxiety and a cycle where each exacerbated the other. One day I came to Nashville to visit a client, flying in in the morning with the plan to fly home at night, and I'd had a terrible night of sleep and was experiencing panic attacks and crying bouts the entire day. I was somehow able to collect myself during the client meeting, but immediately went back to crying and panic attacks after the business was over. As I had a few hours left until I had to be at the airport, I booked a same day appointment at The Lotus Room and it was just so helpful and wonderful, and I appreciated them putting up with me in a very rough spot. It seriously feels so cozy and inviting - as opposed to a formal and cold business ambiance, it is in basically a converted home and each area is a separate bedroom situation. It's definitely just a large old house that was converted to a massage spot. It's super warm and inviting overall, before and after your massage. As far as the massage, the girl (I wish I could remember her name) did a great job. I cried literally the WHOLE massage - as mentioned, this was the worst few months of my life, but the lady was so patient and gave me tissues and just helped me relax and feel good as best she could. She gave me a terrific massage and I left as happy as I could have given the situation. 100 out of 10, I would come back here ANY day and recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic massage in an extremely friendly and relaxing environment. read more

My husband and I had an awful experience at the Lotus Room, when I reached out to the owner about our issues she offered a discount if we would come back; no thank you. From start to finish our experience was frustrating and lackluster. I will never recommend this location. My massage therapist was so rough in the session that they drew literal blood, I do not feel that a 50% discount (what the owner offered) is a proper response, especially on top of all of the other negative aspects of our experience. Decided on a Friday that I needed to treat myself to a full body massage and yelped my way to The Lotus Room :) Unfortunately, because I wanted to get on Memorial Monday, there were no openings. However, I emailed them and they got back to me right away with a slot that had just opened up. The space is clean, warm, quiet, inviting, and Covid-conscious:) I was greeted by Karisse who actually ended up being my massage therapist. I chose the 60-minute relaxation massage and it was incredible. I definitely fell asleep and when it was over it took me a moment to get reoriented. We didn't talk, but the times I was uncomfortable or wanted to suggest something different, Karisse was open and made the adjustments during the session. I will be back for sure! read more

4.5 Is anyone else stressed out? Like, really stressed? Like, you need to think about a lot of things for a long time? No? Just me? Looking at the news (first mistake), I could have sworn it wasn't just me. As you can tell by my preamble, my energy is off. My body aches. My mind races. My vibes are all over the place. I needed a re-centering and some healing. As 'new age-y' as self-care may sound, it's essential. I wonder where we'd be - as a society - if self-care was a priority. Dare to dream. I've had massages throughout Nashville. I have had some misses but I have had many more hits, although I'd yet to find a place that really did *it* for me. I don't know the the Lotus Room did it all but it came close. I loved my experience here and fully understand why it has a 5-star average. First off, it's located in one of those big greystones that line 21st. In all the years I have lived in Nashville, I'd never been inside one of those behemoths. Truthfully, I've never really explored the Hillsboro/Hillsboro Village neighborhoods fully. Each time I have walked around I wondered why I didn't think to settle up there. Then, I see the double-wides and I remember why. Maybe if I was married with kids... Anyway. Lotus Room. It's in one of those big homes I've always wanted to see so that was the first point. Next, They ask that everyone who walks inside TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES! Yes! As soon as I walked inside, took off my shoes and smelled the incense, I knew that this would be a positive experience. I made my way to the front to check in and was greeted with genuine smiles along the way. I sat down, gave my name, checked in, got a glass of water, and started to fill out my paperwork. I retired (as one does) to the parlor to do so and the sensation of my bare feet along the plush rug was fantastic. I also melted in to the chair to the point that it was hard to get up. I wanted to wander the room and look at the built-ins but I couldn't make myself move. That is, until Cassandra greeted me. She was my therapist and she couldn't have been more pleasant. Remember what I wrote about genuine smiles? She had one -- and wonderful energy. I was happy that I was going to be in her care. For my introductory massage, I asked for a 90 minute (if you're going to do it, go all in) relaxation massage. I am not SO knotted up that I needed to jump in to the therapeutic massage and I didn't know that I was all in to the ayurvedic therapy (although with as off as my energy is, maybe I should have done that one; naw... I wanted some hands-on pressure). I discussed my needs with Cassandra and she asked for my input on heat, pressure and oil. Once we were in agreement, she excused herself so I could change and get on to the table. After a brief wait, she returned and we began. The relaxation massage really lived up to it's name. It wasn't a deep tissue, beat-you-up-to-feel-good massage. It was a massage that used oil, heat and enough pressure to make you feel much looser than when you lay down. From my head to my toes (literally), I felt looser and... happier? Yeah. Happier. The way Cassandra incorporated the essential oil to not only massage me but to help me breathe deep and with purpose was an added benefit to the service. The only ding (no fault of hers) was that I was in a first floor room and some sound definitely burst in to the reverie Cassandra created. I was able to tune it out and it wasn't sustained but it was enough that a.) I noticed b.) it happened more than once and c.) it broke me out of my trance. Thanks, though, to Cassandra's skill, it wasn't for very long. I left the Lotus Room in a genuine good mood and a bit more certain of directions I need to take. A reset. We all need one. read more

Melissa cured me the first time I went to her. I was having nerve pain in my right hand. A hand specialist wanted to do an exploratory surgery. After 3 months of acupuncture, chiropractor, neuromuscular massages, PT 3 days a week, I had very little relief. I really did think surgery was going to be my only option. Until I saw Melissa. One deep tissue massage and the numbness and pain went away. I see her 1-2 times per month to maintain and I don't know what would do without her! Thank you so much Melissa! I have had pain in my left hip for MONTHS--maybe years, but no massage has really done much for it. I absolutely loved my time at the Lotus Room. I was experiencing muscle spasms in the week leading up to a major recital, so they squeezed me in and tailored my massage to help. I love that they used natural products, like doterra's muscle rub, during the massage. I've had other massage therapists really attack the knots in my shoulder, which can be extremely painful- at the lotus room, they made sure to focus on the area around the knot as well, and I found this to be much more effective.
