I think it's important to note that this is not a thrift store it's a consignment store. And on top of that, this is a VINTAGE consignment store. So they are mainly looking to buy vintage pieces... What a great little find! The store is small but the space is used well. They have a great selection of vintage items. We bought a couple items that had a 90's vibe. It's hard for me to call 90's vintage, but I guess it fits in that category. I saw some dresses I really liked. It is definitely on the nicer end of a vintage store so don't expect dirt cheap prices. I didn't think the prices were crazy and outrageous, they seemed pretty appropriate for that type of clothing. The person working had great style and a great attitude. I appreciated her friendliness. The Service was horrible. I call in & say I have some men's fashion suits. Ms. Marsh says we buy those suits. She scheduled me an appointment for the next day at 2pm. I drive 30 miles to the shop, I call in & say that I am parked in the back, & that my appt is for 2pm. Lucas answered the phone, he said he had customers and he was not prepared for me. I tell him I have men suits & he asked me how old are the suits? He said he would not be able to take my suits. Mind you, these suits were some very nice suits. I said you have to take a look at these suits. I did not drive all the way here for nothing. I bring in 7 suits for him to look at. He looks at the labels inside each suit for about 15 minutes & said he could not buy any of them. Really!!! Unbelievable!!! I call the next day & spoke to Ms. Marsh. I told her what happened. She said she's sorry but she told me that some suits they do not take. I told her she did not ask anything specific about the suits that I had. All she said to me was we buy suits. What a waste of my time, energy, & gas for driving 30 miles to the place. Wow! What a horrific experience dealing with this place. This was my first foray into a wholly vintage clothing shop, from my experience of thrift stores and estate sales all around metro Atlanta, and I'm very happy with what I saw! There were so many unique finds and pieces at the small location, and the woman the front was very kind and welcoming. There is a selection of non-vintage items mixed in, but everything is tagged so you will know what you're looking at. I'm a small/medium sized woman, so you really have to look at the clothes by eye to see if they will fit and then try on. They do not sell vintage reproduction, so no larger sizes that I could see. I am very satisfied with what I got, and the atmosphere is very comforting. Altogether a great choice. read more

This a unique thrift store. If you are looking for a bargain this a place to check out. They have unique pieces. Prices are reasonably ranged. Located in midtown. I was able to find a vintage orange skirt under $20. They have accessories and clothes with varied styles. I suggest making sure you have time maybe at least hour to try things on and look through things. It's categorized by men's, women's, and children's. A lot of the clothes I saw were unique. They also sell brand name items. They accept credit/debit cards. They also buy gently worn clothes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is good. Also North Avenue Marta station is nearby. I drive past Lucky Exchange once a day and always try and remember to stop and shop some time when I'm not juggling coffee and trying to get to work on time. I finally made the commute-esque drive from EAV to Midtown last weekend to do some shopping and wasn't disappointed. The selection here is organized and clearly labeled to prevent embarrassing moments for clods like me who unwittingly find the coolest jackets in the women's section. There's a little bit of everything here with the selection for the men's stuff tending to be in good shape. The overall age of the selection seems to be relatively new (more 1980's and 1990's kind of stuff than the really old items). Sadly, everything I found that I wanted ended up being too small for me. I'll give it another shot in a couple weeks to see how quickly the inventory changes. Check out the selection of belt buckles in the glass case at the register. Still no sign of a belt buckle shaped like Chuck Norris for me (my personal quest), but they had some awesome ones to choose from nonetheless. Parking is available in the lot behind Lucky and Papi's. Do yourself a favor and get a guanabana milkshake from Papi's for your shopping, you'll thank me someday. read more

Small place with a limited selection of clothing, but there are a fair share of gems here. The tie selection is pretty nice and priced at $11 each, but most of the women's clothes are either too big or not particularly attractive, even for the artistically/vintage inclined dressers. For example, they featured blazers, but those were mostly old 90s ones with unbecoming shoulder pads or random frills on the sleeves. I guess for those who love kitchsy and REALLY vintage-y clothing, this may be their thing, but for the majority of the population it probably isn't. Lucky is also relatively expensive compared to other used clothing shops. In fact, if I had not come with a Scoutmob deal, I'm not sure if I would have purchased anything. I managed to find an awesome dress and a tie for my friend at bargain prices thanks to the deal, but the two things would have actually cost me $40 without it. I guess the reason for this is because the people here are very selective about what they sell, and that it is truly vintage. Your mileage will vary with this store, depending on what kind of fashion you're into. For those truly into vintage, this store may very well be your thing! read more

I haven't purchased anything yet (hence the 4 stars) because I am spoiled by the low fixed pricing system at Goodwill. But the selection here is as eclectic as you would expect without sacrificing quality of appearance and construction. The crew here really means "gently used" and they screen their selections accordingly. I was primarily interested in selling and had a very straightforward and fair pricing experience with Jenn, especially compared to the arbitrary and vague 'seasonal demand' criteria voiced by staff I've worked with at Buffalo Exchange, Plato's, and Rag-o-Rama. That they don't sell kids clothing (none that I saw) the main reason 2 of the pieces didn't make the cut. It didn't hurt that Jenn was personable and very eager to help, even providing guidance on what items to bring in for my next visit. I feel certain that, especially If I'm in the market for dress shoes and leather jackets, there will be a next visit! read more

I haven't found anything here that caught my eye, but I did have a great selling experience a few weeks back. While I was running around trying to sell some of clothes that were overstuffing my closet and dresser, I made an attempt to hit up as many thrift shops that I could get to in a short amount of time. I was cutting close to 5pm, which is when they stop buying clothes (typically an hour before closing), and I still was at the another shop waiting in line. I decided to try my luck by calling to see if the buyer could squeeze me in. The employee assured me that she could still take a look at my items and would wait until I got there before she would stop selling. Sure enough, when I got there, I was greeted with a smile and she took a look at all my garments, buying a good amount of them. I got credit b/c after such a great customer experience, I had to have a reason to come back! Plus, this location, though a bit further out in the boonies, is bigger and more open than the other location on ponce. You have more room to shop without feeling like the clothes are caving in on you. read more

Fine for buying but do not try to sell your things here. After 45 minutes of buyer picking through my clothes, was offered pennies on the dollar for them...including solid mid and upper-mid-level labels in new or near near condition. Average was barely above $2 per piece, for items they then sell for $15-20+. I then took my remaining stuff to Buffalo Exchange and Rag-o-Rama and each of them paid me more than double per piece for similar items. Really wish I'd gone to those places first. Well, my sister and I were on our way to grab dinner at Little Azio on Moreland (try the Tortellini entree, its awesome!), and I saw a new store in the same plaza. Its called the Lucky Exchange. There are two locations, theres the new location I visited at 749 Moreland Ave Atlanta, GA 30316, and theres the original location at 212 Ponce De Leon Ave Atlanta, GA 30308. The Lucky Exchange reminds me of a smaller version of The Clothing Warehouse. It is very organized and easy to shop vintage and modern clothing and accessories. They have some cute accessories, I questioned the quality of some of the pieces but there were some cute things there. There is something else that makes the Lucky Exchange different and its all in the name. They specialize in the resale of Men's and Women's clothing and accessories. They offer cash and store credit for unique or name brand apparel and accessories. Lucky Exchange asked that the clothing is clean, free of stains, and needs no repair. As I sift through the oft-smelly racks, imagining the sad, slow death of a woman who wore ostentatious hats and broken brooches , I usually conclude it's not worth the mental anguish and questionable karma to bring any of the stuff home. If I can get past my vivid imagination, I rarely find anything my size, anyway, unless it's truly vintage. And if it's truly vintage, then it's too pricey for the likes of me. Long story short, I *like* the idea of thrift shopping but haven't the patience nor dampened olfactory sense to go through with it. Lucky Exchange is radcakes because it's already done the hard part by excising the completely unworthy. So you're left with stuff that's in pretty good condition, doesn't smell of rigor mortis, and maybe has a place in your thrift-seeking heart. Ok, I want to preface this by saying I don't typically write bad reviews... To tell the truth, this is my first thus far on Yelp. Furthermore, I want to add that if you are wealthy and go to thrift stores solely to get unique stuff you cannot find in the mall, disregard this review. This store does have cool things, don't get me wrong. It is just, for the most part, thrifty shoppers like myself go to consignment stores and the like to purchase, well, deals. I mean, come on, you are shopping for used clothing! Nevertheless, I have purchased items from my fave consignment store, The FIner Consigner, at a premium in comparison to other thrift stores. But that is in a different, more upscale setting in the suburbs in a town I grew up in called Alpharetta and they have top, designer labels. From what I have observed the few times I have been there, Lucky Exchange really does not. As I am looking over the reviews to my right, I feel as though my review somewhat contradicts the others in regards to price. In my opinion, the price for their used clothing is definitely high. My scale is based on the notion that if something used is being sold at a price comparable to a price in a mall, then that is not cool. May I repeat Lucky Exchange, you are a USED CLOTHING STORE- used clothing=deals. None there, from what I observed. But, to be fair, I will list what I observed: dresses, shirts, and necklaces. It could ironically be that other types of items are cheap??!! I doubt this, but I figured I would mention it. Also, I had difficulty finding small sizes. You won't find a leprechaun here, but you might find some interesting pieces to add to a costume for Halloween or a theme party at a price you can bargain for! This is a little one room shop off of Ponce that I have both driven by and walked by several times during my years at Tech. Finally, I stopped by a little before Halloween and was lucky to find so many interesting garments and accessories that would make anyone's wardrobe stand out. I found this awesome long linen dress from the 60s that must have been owned by a Heidi during her hippie phase. The man wanted about 100 dollars for it because apparently it was a special make. Of course I couldn't afford that much for a potential German beer made costume. So after talking to him for awhile, I managed to get it down to 50 dollars. So torn! I want to give this a 3.5.... So what you see in the picture is pretty much 70% of the entire store...there's a middle rack of a square, and the surrounding 3 walled panels had really outlandish/outdated clothes that I would never wear or buy save for Halloween or for sorority-type themed ordeals. The last panel facing the window was focused on men, but there wasn't much that caught my eye. I thought if it was a smaller selection, that it would be a more focused/better one, but alas that is not true...there was anything from Banana Rep to Mossino (the Target brand), to weird and ugly dresses and Forever21 dresses, to over-the-top vintage lace tops. The crazy thing, some of the pricing was not good for a second-hand shop; meaning forever21 dresses for 20 bucks....that's like the price for a new one...and designer stuff was upwards 40 minimum...The condition of some of the things weren't that great either...like buttons to a regular shirt were obviously ripped off but it was still $20. I don't usually buy shoes second hand, but the selection here wasn't that great... Small unfocused selection + inconsistent pricing leaves me with a 3, but the owner let us stay a bit after it closed so that's like 0.5 more points. HOWEVER, there was a couple that wanted to come in and I tried to open the door, but it was locked since the store was closed...they looked confused and I felt like an awkward witch because I couldn't do anything but continue to browse while they were outside. So minus that extra 0.5. Heed my advice, go to Rag-O-Rama. I found an Alexander Wang dress worth $600 for $30, in new condition. read more

Went here today, to find something for my husband to wear to a "Mad Men" themed party. The service was excellent! I didn't get the lady's name that assisted me, but she was awesome! I told her what the event was, my husband's sizes, and she found me the perfect outfit! She wasn't pushy and seemed like she was really "into" the look that I was trying to achieve. I found an awsome vintage blazer and slacks for him, and the perfect tie to match. We talked about what color shirt to put underneath and what accessories to get. We looked at shoes, but they didn't have what I needed in his size (not suprised, he has huge feet) but she suggested what type of shoes to look for. It's bad enough that I don't like going to malls or shops in the first place to search for clothing but when there's no simple organization that makes things frustrating for me. The store was clean and the staff was nice. Went looking for Blazers and bow ties but found too many snap on bow ties and not the real deals that you have to do-it-yourself. This place would be ok. but I went there on Sunday November 22nd and the only guy working there was awful. He was not helpful. He was rude. He acted like he was irritated people were in there. There were a lot of people in there. And, one customer commented saying "it's never this crowded." Again, the man working there didn't bother to help anyone in the store. I did buy two good pairs of jeans. I would have bought a lot more had he been nicer. I wanted to put back the jeans I was buying when he was ringing me up because I tried to ask him question and he didn't even look up to answer. I'd say I have about a 50% rate of finding something awesome here, which those who are vintage shoppers know is a pretty high rate of success. I love the relatively recent switch up where they now sort by size rather than color: I hated coming across the absolutely perfect dress only to find it in a size 2. Now I just live in blissful ignorance. Prices certainly aren't thrift, but I don't feel like it's especially overpriced. They've done the thrift digging and dirty work for you expect to pay an upcharge. They've also got a decent sale rack and a nice selection of new stuff like brightly colored sunglasses and plastic earrings. Oh, and a decent men's selection: a rarity in this world. It's a small shop and you've got to park around back, but it's worth a stop if you've got some time. read more

I love the selection of vintage clothes at this store! There are so many fun pieces and gems to be found on the racks of this shop. The prices are pretty reasonable for the most part, but there are a few pieces here and there that seem to be a bit on the pricy side. The store is very well organized. The items are sorted by color which makes it easy to peruse. Not only are the clothes fun and lovely, but they have a great selection of jewelry and accessories, as well. The last time I went, I had to force myself to walk away from the jewelry shelves. I ended up settling for a gold oversized ring, but I had to resist the temptation to buy the long beaded necklaces and gemstone rings. I've browsed through this Lucky Exchange location several times after it opened in '07 and have made two purchases to date: the first, a teal dress that buttons up front like a retro polo and cinches via elastic just above the waist, complemented with white shoulder and neck piping; and the latest, a dangerously short vintage dress with a navy body, mustard yellow long sleeves and red accents at the tips of the sleeves and neckline. I hooked a safety pin through one of the buttonless holes. A lot of the tops and skirts remind me of Express circa 1994--and I just don't envision that recircling into my style palate. The other day I noticed a watermelon dress; the red bib was covered in watermelon seeds with a green rind around the periphery. I just haven't found much that suits me. read more

I have to agree with Katrina D. with the pricing of this place. I would not pay $17 for a USED forever 21 dress, or $12 for a USED plain black skirt. And so I didn't! I walked out with a pair of fun earrings for $9, but I am obsessed with earrings so...:/ I walked in on Sunday afternoon a half hour after they opened, and the first thing I notice..HOT HOT HOT!!! A/c was not working. No one else was in the store and there was a guy sitting behind the counter doing NOTHING and was not at all chatty. :( The variety was alright I suppose...if you are into vintage stuff. Clothes had that dry, stale, starchy feel to it...just like that forgotten dress you pushed way back into the closet. I was not impressed. I must say they had pretty cool boots though. Large selection of sunglasses. There appeared to be a pretty decent selection of men's clothing. I'm a thrift store shopper and I think my style reflects that. Perhaps, however, I am not vintage chic enough for this store. I sold some clothing here a couple weeks ago and struggled to find anything that wasn't extremely overpriced that I liked. I came back a week later and had the same problem. Several of the items were broken or had stains (which I expect at most thrift stores, but not when they are asking so much for each item). I have much better luck at Goodwill- and at least my money goes to charity there. Service was friendly and they have some unique vintage clothing, but I can't get myself to pay that much for it. read more

I haven't lived in Atlanta for over five years, but I go back frequently and always try to discover new places to shop and booze. Over the holidays, the Lucky Exchange was my favorite retail find. I've been going to Psycho Sisters in Little Five Points to sell clothes since high school and have continually grown disillusioned with them over the years. After this past visit to PS, I pulled out my iPhone and looked for another place to go and, thankfully, TLE was right down the road. I'm so so grateful to have found this place for when I go back now, both for shopping and selling clothes. Beautiful vintage dresses and accessories, all very reasonably priced. And, most importantly, the girl working seemed to really appreciate the pieces she took from me. Nothing irks me more than taking in clothes, and the employees act like they are doing you a massive favor by taking your Miu Miu cardigan for $6. (Hi, Pyscho Sisters.) Yay, Lucky Exchange! The Lucky Exchange has a well edited selection of vintage (and some newer) goods - they are really selective about what clothes they will buy from you. The prices are a bit higher than somewhere like Plato's Closet but a bit more reasonable than L5P vintage places. The rotating cool outfits in the window bring in traffic from their random location on Ponce and people that know about their cool selection return often. I found a nice pair of vintage cowboy boots (too small so no purchase from me!) and some other cool accessories here too. read more

Wow, what a Mall! I truly enjoy the Galleria mall so much I went twice and was only in Atlanta two full days!

If you're on the prowl for vintage clothes, you'll find far better pricing here than you would over at the shops in Little 5 or Decatur. Sale racks are also a good bargain here, so don't hesitate to start digging! Modern clothes, however, can be a bit overpriced. And yet that's a trend in Atlanta. When we're not willing to go to Goodwill for clothes, these vintage shops know that and charge a lot more for everything. Still, I can't help but enjoy browsing here. Everything from a super huge gold belt (we're talking WWF-style) to leather jackets to adorable dresses is here, and there's a pretty decent selection for every size. There's even a sizable men's section, so your boy can't get too bored if he's tagging along. The staff seems friendly every time I've come in, and the last time I showed up right at closing and the cashier let me come in anyway while she started to close up shop. I thought that was a nice gesture in a world where you're normally kicked out 10 minutes before closing. So it's good for vintage clothing, a good browse, and lots of accessories at reasonable prices. A Forever 21 outfit, however, is often not worth the cost unless it's on sale. read more

She answered all my questions, she joked around with me, she was detailed in what they are looking for in pieces! I can't wait to go there this week.
