Would I return? No. Am I glad I took 1 zoom class? Well, I got her book and I think her book could be a very useful tool. I always try to look at things through a positive lens, so I will file it away as "I learned a lot, even if it wasn't what I paid to learn". I will grow as a person from the experience. But honestly, if I could leave less than 1 star, I would. I'm not here to bash the technique or Amy's talent. She has clearly worked and found success. But the experience was something I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Not until there is more respect invested into the participants and our time. I felt disrespected and I felt like everyone else in the class was being disrespected. I'm sorry but this was one of the most negative educational experiences I've ever had. Amy might have a history of career, but as a person, she wasn't kind, she was uninterested, and she was rude. There is a difference between confidence and cockiness, and she was egotistical and self-serving and cocky. I don't care what kind of credits or connections a person has if they're not a kind person at their core.  She says she cares about the students and getting them to their full potential, but no. She cares about stroking her own ego, inflating her own cockiness, and acts like she is God's gift to the business. The irony is, she talked about how important it is to be respectful and a good person when going to an audition. I can say from experience, she is not respectful, she is not selfless. She is selfish and self-aggrandizing and rude.  She openly told us "What you'll learn about me is that I always trying to do things the quickest, sometimes underhanded way. And my personal assistant is always having to remind me we have to do things legally,". She rolled her eyes, scoffed, and also made a comment about "sleeping your way to the top". Let me make this clear: she did NOT imply that her comments were related to her own experience, and I would never accuse someone of that, but for the comment to be made in general was outrageously unprofessional. She berated and belittled someone in our zoom class for taking a bite of food when they were nauseous (we were at the very beginning of class during introductions and questions), then she proceeded to light up and smoke 3 cigarettes on camera, during our work sessions while working with us. It was like she couldn't be bothered to give us her full attention. We had a student in our class who was Latino and had a bit of an accent, and during his work session, (he was doing fantastic) she stopped him to say "look, this isn't one of your telenovelas". I was shocked. She didn't make any comments about being in a "soap opera" to any of the white performers. It was unbelievable and I wouldn't be surprised if the performer was incredibly offended, because I was offended on his behalf. And she doesn't let you talk or ask your questions. People would start to ask questions, and not even a sentence in, she would say "stop talking, stop talking, stop talking. I already know what you're going to say you don't need to keep talking. Stop," if people are paying you money, let them ask their damn questions. Let them talk. I don't care if you DO know the question. Let them talk. And for the love of God, at least pretend to enjoy the job. The whole time, it felt like she wished she was anywhere else but in the class. Look, I don't need constant praise. I truly believe critique and criticism is very important to growth and learning as humans. But there is absolutely no excuse for treating people like they don't have worth. Period. I'm not angry, I'm disappointed and discouraged to know that people like this are establishing themselves as these pinnacles of the industry, but the truth is: there are so many other, successful, working actors out there who don't need to berate and belittle people just to make themselves feel better. I'd much rather learn from them. Overall, don't waste your money. Maybe the book is worth a couple bucks, but the class isn't. read more

Not for the faint of heart! If you want to be told you are great or have your hand held, go back to scene study. If you want to be a ninja then train with Amy. If you want to get better at auditioning, train with Amy. She tells you what you need to hear not what you want to hear. Hello Yelpers! I'm totally one of those one-star-or-five-star kind of reviewers, and Amy Lyndon is in the 5-star category for me. I've been training with Amy Lyndon since 2010. Before her, I had something like 3 credits on IMDB - all co-stars - and if you look at my imdb page now, I have something like 15 or 20 credits, including two series regulars and starring in a feature film. My representation went from nobody to one of the biggest management companies in LA - hell, I even have an entertainment lawyer! Amy's cool - and cheap. I paid for coaching from someone else (I'm not going to name names unless I write a review they can respond to), and it was $190 an hour! I was like, "Daaaammmmnnnn...." Amy's $100 an hour, but usually I only need a half hour and even if I booked the hour, she'll just charge me for the half. I like to consider myself Mr. Respectable, so I figured I should give her the full check because she blocked the time out, and she wouldn't do it. I was impressed. I did some searches on other reviews for her and they're all really good. I got her book on Amazon, that was awesome, and I just use that if I can't get coaching for an audition. I also did her career consultation, which helped me get my reps. So since I'm recommending Amy, I recommend getting her book to get you familiar with her "technique", getting a consultation to get a feel for where you are in your career (she used to be a big manager), and then trying a coaching. Amy's class is amazing. She doesn't teach you to act she teaches you to book work. Your callback ratio will skyrocket in this class. She has helped re-do my package to get a better team (I fucking love my agent) and I have a guest star on CBS next week and it is because of her. Most people only do the class once a week but if you do the stuff on her website AND attend class you will not feel intimidated when you get those really juicy big auditions. You'll feel ready. Amy is amazing- I wish I'd started her class years ago! I now feel confident and at ease in my auditions and my callback ratio has skyrocketed! This is not an acting class, she assumes that you are able to act and you've worked on your craft before coming to her. She runs an audition class--what a novel idea! Classes run long, but that's okay! All actors are friendly, and a lot of them have a lot of experience. Amy gives a lot of good feedback, if we do something that's not needed in a scene or if we have a habit that we need to work on, she let's us know to work on that. Her technique is good and I have used it breaking down all my scripts, even those I use at casting director workshops. Relating to the other character in the scene and having emotions are what she looks for and it's what casting looks for. Class is always a lot of fun! read more

This is a positive review with some common sense intended to help you. Obviously, all the 5 star reviews and testimonials aren't unsolicited. Some are by beginning actors with no significant credits. I'm a working actor who's had many classes of all kinds. I appreciate Amy trying to make money, but her style, also seen in some of the staged videos and sound-byte clips, seemed a little slick -- There's several marketing types like her in the game now, packaging a product to sell to a susceptible target audience. Several of you made some good points I wanted to add: "Booking coach" isn't a real occupation, it's a clever marketing title. Amy does have some legit acting credits on IMDB, but her claims of writer producer director are DIY and not substantial. If any of you wish to rebut these specific claims, please do, I welcome an informed dialogue. Just vet people before you put your money or career in their hands. Remember, most actors have had multiple instructors, and many teachers have more IMDB "successes," they just don't take the credit. There's no proof the jobs actually stem from class or a "technique," though some actors will say they do. To me, there doesn't seem much to the technique itself other than common sense advice we've all heard. It's important to remember there's lots of techniques, many successful actors never trained, a lot of the training is ineffective, outdated or even detrimental... and actors rarely know why they're hired. That being said, this and other classes might help you. It's good to hear both sides before shelling out your money. Bottom line, if you're booking significant roles on prime time television and A list movies, you're in the right place for now. Just don't waste years caught in a guru syndrome. I've been a student of Amy's for a few years now. Before working with her, I had no clue how to walk into a casting office and use my talent to its potential. I took Amy Lyndon's Audition Technique workshop in November and can honestly say it's the most valuable investment I have made in my acting career to date. Her notes and critic are spot on and I left the workshop feeling very confident that I could tackle any audition that comes my way. I came across one of Amy's blogs and thought that the concept of a booking coach was refreshing. Both my kids are in the business and getting a lot of auditions/call backs with a couple of great bookings but I thought this new approach might give them more of an edge....So, after her workshop we decided to sign up for her Weds classes where my husband and I were able to sit in. Amy literally takes it to a new level. My kids have collectively auditioned 60 plus times in the past two years at $150-225 a pop for coaching but only learned how to go into an audition to recite what was rehearsed. Amy IS teaching them to THINK and to FIND what the writer wants to bring out in the story. Last night, the kids participated in CoStar night where they had to compete for a booking with an audience of "producers" who voted on who to book. This not only mimics the stress in a casting/callback experience but you can see firsthand how 10 of the actors will read lines with no idea about what the writer is trying to say and maybe one or two will bring something interesting.
