Now you see it, now you don't. Welcome back to the Magic Castle. This is truly one of my favorite places on earth, and if you ever get the chance to go, do not turn it down. I've been around 20 times and it has never disappointed me even a little. For anyone who hasn't been: the Castle has several rooms and extra corners where magicians are performing all night -- the Close-up Gallery, the Parlour of Prestidigitation, the Palace of Mystery, the Library Bar, the Peller Theatre, and house magicians throughout. Most rooms have two performers, one early and one late, so you can see several different acts in a single night. A quick warning from this trip: we arrived around 6:10. Doors opened at 5:00, but traffic and an unexpected pit stop made us miss a few early shows. Valet takes your car, you can pose for photos, then you check in with the maître d', who confirms you're on the list, meeting dress code, and set for the evening. After that you go through the secret entrance, say "open sesame," and the bookcase slides open into the club. Right in front of you is the bar and a piano playing with no one sitting at it. Don't panic -- that's just Irma, the house ghost. She knows every song, theme, melody, you name it. Just ask. I requested "Piano Man" and "Don't Stop Believin'." Our dinner reservation was at 6:30, so we headed upstairs to the dining room. The hostess sat us and our server, Jeffery, was wonderful. We ordered the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and steamed squash and cucumber, the beet salad, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and for dessert key lime pie with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. The food was excellent. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The beet salad was so good it should be illegal. The shrimp were the size of small fish. The key lime pie had a bright lime kick and a graham cracker crust that melted in your mouth, and the ice cream made it even better. Rack of lamb: 10/10 Jumbo shrimp cocktail: 10/10 Beet salad: 10/10 Key lime pie and ice cream: 10/10 After dinner we started catching the shows, and they were outstanding. Close-up Gallery Boris Wild: 10/10 David Corsaro: 10/10 Parlour of Prestidigitation Rachel Wax: 7/10 Yarden Shalev: 8/10 Palace of Mystery Asi Wind: 10/10 I can't do these performers justice in a few sentences. The best of them do material so complex that several have been on Penn & Teller: Fool Us -- and actually fooled Penn & Teller. That is not easy. That is an understatement. By the time we were ready to leave it was 1 a.m. Almost seven hours of dinner, magic, and wandering the Castle. Like every other night here, it was unforgettable. read more

Incredible experience all around! If you have the opportunity to visit, you should definitely make time to check it out! This was my first visit as an adult and I was absolutely blown away. The attention to detail in regard to everything is amazing. We made a dinner reservation at 5:30pm and then spent the rest of the night enjoying some incredible magic! Our dining experience was great, the service was quick and they make sure to get you out in time for your show. We tried the cheesy garlic bread, mac and cheese, prime rib, and the wagyu flatiron. Everything was great besides the cheesy garlic bread, we found it more on par with what you'd find at a theme park. The stand out was definitely my Wagyu flatiron though! The steak just melts in your mouth like butter, phenomenal! Plenty of drink options, you can get drinks while dining or at one of the several bars located throughout the mansion. They also offer snacks and desserts (same items offered in dining area plus more) at the bar below the dining room. The ambiance is truly magical, everything is decorated perfectly to fit the magical and mysterious vibe! The shows were so captivating, I was a big fan of the close up room. Take some time to research and fully read all the rules and dress code policy etc. There was a lot of important information that you should know before your visit which can all be found on their website. Such an amazing place to visit. Although it's invitation only type of place. We made dinner reservations and stayed for the rest of the night enjoy magic presentations.the food was delicious. I love it that's so exclusive and no pictures/videos are allowed inside the place. The dinner service was great. Carisa was lovely. The shows were amazing always. On our last 30 mins we meet one the magicians: Javi Benitez. Such a lovely person! They really enforce the dress code. They have ties and coats for rentals if you're not wearing one. One thing I didn't really like: I got most of my food to go and when we went to claim it (with the ticket they give you) they said it had been thrown away?? Like why??? Wow! What does one write about the iconic Magic castle? This had been on my bucket list as long as I can remember. I've been invited quite a few times but I lived in Northern California or San Diego so it was never convenient. Fast forward to now and a friend invited me because it was her birthday dinner. How could I say no? We arrived early and valeted the car. We met another friend who has been many times and was going to show us the way. We walked in, payed our entrance fee and stood in line for our first performance of the night. From there, we went to back to back shows until our dinner reservation. We were seated and given menus. Unfortunately, the menu didn't exactly match what was listed online. A few of us had to change plans as what we wanted wasn't on the menu for the night. I got the pork chop with corn and mashed potatoes. I haven't had a pork chop in a long time so I was looking forward to it. It was quite dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. The sides were good though, but not worth the price. Someone else at our table also ordered it and said hers was tender so I guess I just got unlucky. After dinner we saw several more performances. There are very few places in Los Angeles that truly feel magical anymore, but The Magic Castle absolutely lives up to the hype. This iconic Hollywood establishment is famously known for its secrecy and exclusivity, and after finally experiencing it for myself, I completely understand why. Hidden behind the mysterious entrance are some of the most talented magicians and performers you'll ever encounter. Many of them audition for the honor of performing there, and the level of talent throughout the evening was honestly incredible. We're fortunate enough to have a friend who is a member, and although we've been invited before, life always seemed to get in the way. This time, we cleared our schedules and made a full evening out of it and I'm so glad we did. We arrived around 5 PM, valet parked, and checked in with the maître d'. Since guests must be connected to a member, everyone had to be on the guest list and show ID before entering. One thing I absolutely loved was how seriously they take the dress code. Think black tie, cocktail dresses, suits, polished shoes; elegant and classy without feeling stuffy. No flashy outfits or over-the-top looks, just timeless sophistication. Once inside, you're immediately transported into another world. The entrance area has a charming little gift shop with T-shirts, magnets, playing cards, and magic-themed souvenirs. One of the coolest things I learned during the night was that Walt Disney was close friends with the founder of The Magic Castle, which inspired the magic shop on Main Street at Disneyland. As a Disney fan, I thought that was such a fun piece of history. And then comes the famous entrance. You stand before a bookcase, say "Open Says me " to the little owl, and suddenly the hidden door opens into the castle itself. It honestly felt like stepping into a movie. The castle is filled with multiple levels, intimate showrooms, hidden corners, bars, lounges, and surprises everywhere you turn. We ended up seeing five different magic shows throughout the evening, and every performer brought something unique. Some acts were funny, others mind-blowing, and a few genuinely left me speechless wondering how on earth they pulled things off. There's a bar on nearly every level, each with its own vibe. One of my favorite spots had close-up card magic happening right at the bar while people enjoyed drinks and appetizers. Speaking of food, surprisingly phenomenal. We had the chicken club sandwich, calamari, and garlic bread, and everything exceeded expectations. The customer service throughout the entire evening was stellar. Every single employee we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. It also felt very community-oriented, everywhere we went, people greeted our member friend like family. The entire environment felt intimate, nostalgic, and special in a way that's hard to explain unless you experience it yourself. One thing I also learned is that there are a few other ways to gain access besides knowing a member. If you stay at the Magic Castle Hotel bungalows, admission is often included, and occasionally they offer admission opportunities through blood donation events. If you ever come across an opportunity to visit , take it immediately. The Magic Castle isn't just dinner and a show. It's an experience. There's truly surprise and wonder around every corner, and for a few hours, you genuinely feel transported away from reality. Established in 1963, the Magic Castle is an exclusive members only clubhouse for magicians and magic enthusiasts. It's also the home of the Academy of Magical Arts. However, non-members can attend if they accompany a member or receive a pass from a kind magician. I've been here numerous times over the years. I've known members and people that worked here. I've seen amazing shows in the main room & fun shows in the parlors. I've been for dinner & brunch. This time I came with friends for drinks & fun. The Castle is big and there is so much to discover. It's charming & mysterious. Take your time and soak it all in. Grab a drink in the main bar, have a seat in Invisible Irma's Room, and ask her to play you a tune on the piano. The magicians are world class performers with unique talents. House magician Mike is darling and he dazzled us with card tricks, mentalist David Stryker wowed us with his mind reading capabilities, and Richard Turner amazed us with his ability to perform card tricks even though he is legally blind. The staff here are all fantastic and work well together. (Especially, Rose at the front desk.) We were treated with kindness & respect the entire evening. Food & cocktails are top notch. We shared Hummus that came with the softest pita bread, Shrimp Cocktail with large juicy shrimp, House Made Veggie Burger with Beer Battered Fries, and the Four Cheese Garlic Bread. Everything was delicious. For drinks we had: Smoke & Shadows (Mezcal Margarita), Cosmopolitan, Champagne, Manhattan, Perfect Timing (Vodka based), and Caymus Cabernet. Had an absolutely incredible and amazing experience here, but sadly did not partake in the food (next time!). The Magic Castle is a members only club, and you can attend if you're actually invited by a member, or given a special pass. For this reason, this was probably the only time in my adult life I was able to go. Not knowing what to expect, we arrived a little bit after 4:30 and was able to go into a special small show which was one of the first shows. Intrigued by all the small and special rooms available around the magic castle we snaked our way around and saw a couple of shows and enjoyed a few beverages throughout the night. No, photos or video are allowed except for the entrance of the castle and a little bit on the outside. I was completely enamored and amazed to the power of illusion and magic at the magic castle. The Magic Castle is an exclusive experience that's filled with fun and of course magic! This was my first time experiencing the castle, and it lives up to the name of exclusivity and sophistication. The staff are all polite, patient, and understanding which is a huge mark going into your overall experience. When you enter the castle, you will receive a brochure with all the performers and performance times on it so you can select which experience you want. The dining is fine dining, so prepare to pay about $70 per person minimum for any entrée. I ordered the wagyu flatiron and boy was it yummy. It was tender, juicy, and the flavor was amazing. I also tried the garlic bread and burrata cheese. The burrata was good (just as any other barrata), and the garlic bread was cheese heavy. I wish the garlic bread packed more of a garlic punch, but it was still good. For desert, I will say the Banana Cream Pie stole the show. If there's anything I would long for on this menu it would be the pie. The crust was crunchy made from Nutter Butter, and the banana flavor was natural and creamy. The shows themselves were outstanding. I loved how you get both up close and far away magic experiences. The magicians are also very interactive with guests, creating a real sense of awe! The only downside I would say is the organization of lines. The castle, when packed on a weekend, can feel small and tight with plenty of people waiting in queued non-ticketed lines. With lines not opening until at least 25 minutes prior to a show, and no line attendants or signs prior to that, the lines can get crazy and you can get stuck in a line without being guaranteed a spot in the show - so try to get in lines a bit early. My wonderful friends were able to get us an invitation and it was a night I'll never forget! The most memorable part of the night for me, was Greg Van Holsbeck's act. There was never a dull moment through out. He engaged the whole audience, making everyone feel included, and truly set the vibe for the room. In the middle, I scanned the room and really, all eyes were locked in on him. He was also absolutely hilarious and there really was never a silent moment - the room was brought to life with the roaring of laughter. However, don't be fooled as he is a master of his craft. His act was mind blowing and we left wondering how he did it all! 10/10, he is so amazing. Venue wise, it is absolutely beautiful inside and you truly feel like you've been transported to another world, or perhaps time. Everybody was dressed to the to the nines and the vibes were immaculate. I had the prime rib with truffle butter, ordered a side of their macaroni and cheese with bacon, then ended the meal with their banana crème pie. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth.. paired with the truffle butter? Perfection. The Mac and cheese was creamy with a great depth of flavor. THE BANANA CRÈME PIE?! Must be what heaven feels like. It was legitimately the BEST pie I've had in my life. Everything was balanced perfectly and gosh, that graham cracker crust. Perhaps the food is also part of an act, as one moment it was there.. then it was completely gone! The drinks from the bar were also excellent. You can tell they take hospitality here seriously. I've been coming to Magic Castle for Sunday brunch this year bringing wonderful friends to enjoy the Magic and experience , and it used to feel worth the price. The buffet was $75 with a $25 entertainment fee, and the food and variety matched the magic of the place. This time? Not even close. For $55, we got a pre‑fixed menu with limited options, especially for vegetarians. My table of six all ordered Eggs Benedict, and what showed up was laughable: raw poached eggs, one sad thin slice of Canadian bacon, and pancakes that were cold and tasted like leftovers. Honestly, I've had better brunch at a diner for half the price. The drinks were another circus act. I ordered Grey Goose for my martini, but the server decided everyone else should have Grey Goose too--without asking. That turned into four cocktails at $22 each, while my Lemon Drop martini was $12. Funny enough, the first server told me it was $19 before I ordered. So which is it? Pick a number, because the pricing feels like it's made up on the spot. Service? Let's just say "perfunctory" is generous. Our server seemed annoyed to even be there. When Hillary asked about the Bloody Mary ingredients, he joked about bringing the bartender over instead of answering. When pressed, he just guessed. Guessing ingredients at Magic Castle? That's not magic, that's laziness. And of course, the automatic 22% service charge. With that built in, it felt like the staff didn't even bother trying. Why would they, when the tip is guaranteed? To top it off, the website still says the entertainment fee for brunch is $35, which doesn't match what we were charged. The good: magicians where so great, definitely had a blast watching the shows! Specifically a magician who was at the bottom level in a secret little room, he was so funny, amazing show!! The dinner part of our night was fantastic as well (the service/ waiter). The bad: the bartender in the bottom level ( a lady with a side buzzcut) was the rudest person. I pay tips in cash and so when I paid the drink with my card and pressed no tip she snatched the pay machine and yelled "gratuity is not included". I understand she didn't know I was going to pay in cash but omg her attitude was so vile and ugly. My friend also had asked her for recommendations on scotch which she said they didn't have any scotch but the way she said it and her attitude killed the entire vibe down there. Another thing too is the rules.. I understand the no hoot rule but if they're going to be strict with that rule they should be strict with the attire rule as well, I saw a man dressed in a t shirt and tennis shoes and then another dressed in a Hawaiian shirt? Was fortunate and grateful to be invited here by a colleague and thought it was a really neat restaurant with magic shows, but a bit on the pricier side if you aren't a member and the service could be improved. You need to be a member of the magic castle or know someone who is in order to be invited and make reservations. From what I've heard, Magician Members (Local) cost around $2,500 initiation fee + $150 monthly dues and Associate Members (Non-Magicians, Local) cost $6,000 initiation fee + $225 monthly dues. However, not sure how accurate this is. If you are invited by a member, lucky you! You don't need to pay those initiation fees, but you do need to pay an entrance fee which is about $40-$45 depending on weekday/weekend. Valet would be another $25 and a mandatory dinner entree is about $45-50 plus drinks and desserts about $15 each will run you over $150 per person not including tax and gratuity. Upon arriving, I was not greeted nor payed any attention to. There were 2 closed lines, one for members and one for guests. When a member arrived, the host would greet and welcome them inside while guests were not treated as kindly. I had to ask if I was in the correct line and talk to the host to be checked in. Nonetheless, upon entrance, it was a simple email confirmation for your reservation before you say the magic words to an owl that unlocks the door inside. There was a pamphlet of magic shows upon entrance that I grabbed, but other than that, no one really gave us any instructions or advice on how to see each show. TIP: arrive 10-15 min earlier to each show time before it fills up. Arrive to your dinner reservation earlier to watch shows before your meal time. There are both roaming magician shows and private room showings. Clean, spacious, and magical library vibes around. There was a bar available and a magic piano. As we got seated for dinner, we were given tickets to an assigned magic show at 8:00 pm. I ordered the Australian Wagyu and the princess mocktail and both were decent. The princess had way too much syrup I couldn't really drink it and the Wagyu was tender for the most part with a very slight chewiness. It came with a side of potato's that were delicious. I also shared some appetizers: four cheese garlic bread, asparagus, garlic mashed potato, salad and spinach artichoke dip. The crispy cheese garlic bread, fluffy garlic mashed potatoes, and creamy spinach dip was delicious. Their asparagus did look a bit artificial being bright green and a bit stringy. Pricing is high for these entrees so just don't have too much of an expectation for food. The magic show featured 3 talented magicians with costumes, props, music, and laughter. Very engaging and interesting! I do think $150 for dinner and multiple magic shows is a pretty good value. The magic shows run through all night so from our 6 pm dinner slot, there were different magicians and shows running until 1 am. No photos inside allowed at all! And if you run late over 20 minutes, you will owe a $85 late fee per guest. Besides service and food improvements, it was a great experience. We enjoyed a memorable evening of dining in a dimly lit room full of nostalgic flair, followed by entertainment in every room of this castle. I went to magic castle on 12/14 and I have to say I had hoped for better expectations from my visit but I was disappointed. The food was not great by ANY MEANS and was too expensive for the quality and for what you get! Then after all that you can't even get a tour of the castle! My expectation was that you can get a tour any time since it's open till 1. By the time we got there it was already dinner time then show. When we asked when we got there, they didn't say you can't get a tour of the castle. Nothing of that was mentioned! I am very disappointed bc we paid sooo much to be there and barely got to see any shows. If you can get on the list to the Magic Castle please do! It is a bit pricey but definitely worth it to say you did! Dress to impress!!! Bathrooms are clean, multiple levels. So much to see. BTW - Photos inside passed the doors inside are prohibited. So only a handful of photos. Valet was $30 and they do have a photo op outside the front doors when you wait to enter. Security will ask for your name to check the list. Once you enter the fee for entry is $45/person. The person checking us in was sweet. You pay for valet and the fee when you get in before you can enter through the secret door. The wait wasn't too long to get in. You can gain access as soon as they open even if your reservations for dinner isn't until later. We had a later time slot so that we could get there early and check things out. Make sure you do this!! They do have a free tour that you can ask for if you have time. Theron was our guide and was amazing! He asked what time our reservations were at and timed us perfectly!! He had some pretty cool stories and very knowledgeable of the history! They have multiple bars and magic everywhere! There's a room with a self playing piano and we saw someone whisper to it to play a song and it immediately played it! So fascinating!!! There are time slots for certain magicians and lines so make sure you check the schedule before getting there and have a game plan!! Dinner was amazing. I couldn't take any photos but the service and food was great, even had them since happy birthday to me if you get the right server!!! And you might be able to get a birthday button too! They have a small gift shop with reasonable prices for fun gifts. And...I asked if it was haunted and they all said yes!! We had a great time and would definitely go back if we are lucky! read more

Going to the Magic Castle was on my bucket list for 10 years! Thankfully, one of my friends came through this year and I finally got to attend. What a spectacular spectacle! In truth, I don't want to reveal TOO much, because that takes away from the fun, surprises, and delights around every corner (and I literally mean every corner!). But I will say this -- you will truly be amazed at the magic you'll encounter throughout the evening. There were so many oohs and ahhs coming out of my group every time we witnessed another piece of magic! I will also say that the meal was my least favorite part of the evening. The food is all right, but really nothing to write home about. It is sort of aggravating to me that not only is a meal required, but an entree per person is required. But I suppose that's the price you pay for magic! If you ever have the opportunity to go, I say go for it. It's a very only-in-LA thing that's a must here! read more

I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend who's a member. A fun experience for brunch as a huge selection of food. Pics once you enter are not allowed inside. The only area was a corner with Santa. Our group was large where we had a private room. It was fun to see various magic performers and I was quite entertained. I'd love to come back again. I was somewhat skeptical at first of the young magicians. Boy was I wrong! I have never seen anyone command a room and take total control like Shoji. He is only 14! He is going to be a superstar. The second close-up gallery show we saw was Skyler Jade. She is deadly beautiful and an extremely talented magician. Our experience was unforgettable. Magic castle is a staple in Los Angeles for a reason. Highly coveted, invitation only facility that still holds allure. Aside from obtaining the invitation from members, the other option is to stay at the magic castle hotel adjacent to the castle and you'll get tickets that way. We bought a double room at the magic castle hotel and got 2 tickets to the castle. Reservations are made by the hotel and you must also dine with the castle for dinner as well. We had dinner reservations at 8p. Dinner was good, nothing spectacular but it's a good meal all around. Prices are on the pricier side but in line with normal LA restaurants for food. They have bars on all 3 levels of the castle. Drinks are also ok, quite heavy on the alcohol pours in my opinion but nothing over the top about the drinks. Very strict dress code. Dress shoes, tie and suits for men. Dresses, heels for women, no sandals. Some people complain about this but I do think it's nice to see everyone so dressed up, where else in LA can you where a gown, go to dinner and a show but the magic castle? Do get here at 5p when they open doors so you can go see the different magic shows before dinner. Check in with the lobby and you'll be directed inside the castle. Across 3 levels there are multiple magic shows going on simultaneously at different times. I do think they should crowd control a little bit better to make the process smoother. When we first got in it was quite crowded and felt like they were not quite equipped for so many people all at once. A little bit claustrophobic but once everyone dispersed to the different shows it definitely felt better. This is probably why they stagger dinner times which is very smart. No pictures inside the castle or past the lobby. They do repeat this many times throughout the night. The workers are all dressed up as well, each all are doing bits to enhance your experience. The magic shows were good and lots of humor thrown iWhilst some of the tricks aren't the BEST we've seen, all the magicians performed their heart out and we definitely enjoyed all the shows. Overall a great night, fun shows, lots of laughs. Mediocre food and drinks. If this has been on your list to go to I would definitely recommend checking it out at least once just to experience it. read more

We had such a great time at the Magic Castle! Please note it is valet parking ($30). The staff were all so friendly but it can be difficult to get up the hill pending the traffic and the direction you are driving in from. The building was so cool. If you look closely in all the rooms you can see little magical Easter eggs. I was nervous about getting lost in there because there were so many small rooms but luckily one of our party members had been before and helped us navigate the space. I'm giving The Magic Castle five stars because honestly, there is really nothing else like it in LA and possibly anywhere. I've been a few times over the years - mostly due to work events. A few times for friends' birthdays or getting in because a friend of mine is a member. The different shows you can watch have always been entertaining. It's kind of like a mini theme park where you wait in line at different shows throughout the night after you finish your meal here. Not pics allowed inside after passing the owl. Over the years, I think the food changed up a bit. I always thought the food was solid. But this place is more than just its food or the place/experience is more than the sum of it's parts. Every time I've been, there's different theaters/rooms/stages where magicians refine their craft. So you're going for a night out for dinner and a show. There's also a dress code. Suits are required for men (maybe it's just a tie and jacket? be sure to check before visiting). It gives the place an old timey classy vibe. The service here has always been great to me. Friendly people who are polite and treat you well during all the times I've been here. Getting in - as I mentioned before, I've been here a handful of times through work or work alumni events. A few other times because you need to get an invite or card to reserve a night here and as I understand it, you need to have dinner here as well. read more

It's been sixteen long years since I last visited the Magic Castle. I have fond memories of visiting during Halloween and the decorations were out of the world. I also had a great time visiting as a couple and watching all the incredible magic shows in the parlors and theatres big and small. The third time, I helped host a private holiday party at the Castle for the Walt Disney Company International Finance Group when I worked for Disney. Needless to say, I have a ton of great memories and was super excited to be invited back, and relive the magic again! We came as a group of six this past Monday early evening, and arrived thirty minutes early for the 5pm seating. We waited and after we got in, we got drinks at the bar and watched an impromptu show in a small parlor for about fifteen minutes before heading to dinner. Dinner service was excellent. We got the cheesy garlic bread, shrimp cocktail, prime rib and the shrimp pasta. The shrimp pasta could have used more fresh ingredients like basil, garlic or lemon. It tasted like canned tomato sauce mixed with cream. After dinner, we headed to another show at the Close-Up Gallery, and sadly was turned away as there were just too many people in line already. Then, we went to the Parlour of Prestigation and waited in line for twenty minutes. Just as they were letting people in and we got to the front of the line, the attendant said the room was full. Disappointed, we tried another show at the Palace of Mystery. We waited in line for 45 minutes for the 8pm show. We did get in this time. Finally! The show lasted about 40 minutes. The magicians (all of them) were energetic and engaging. After the show ended it was already 9pm. The next show wasn't going to be until 10pm and after being turned away twice there was no guarantee we would make it in. So, we decided to head home being it was also a weekday work night. The castle was packed with people everywhere; in the hallways, in the restrooms, at the bar, in the restaurant, in the parlours and the theatres. It was not the fun and relaxing vibe that I had experienced years ago. I learned that we had to time everything carefully and wait in line like at Disneyland and with the possibility of being turned away while standing in heels for a long time. They have a strict dress-code which I didn't mind except I didn't know I would be standing in line in my 4 inch heels for 20-45 minutes. After getting ready for one hour, sit in traffic for another, waited 30 minutes to get in and waited more to watch 1 actual show, all at the combined price tag of around $200 per person ($30 valet parking, $40 entrance fee per person, and a pricey average-tasting dinner and drinks for $100+ per person), this was a very, very disappointing experience. This was an absolute great experience that I am very happy that I was able to experience! For first timers, always arrive EARLY, when I say early, I mean when they open! Although we arrived early, we were unable to see everything and will be pending to be back to finish exploring. Hopefully one day we will be able to be back. Keep in mind that this is a historical building and not modern, thus there are plenty of stairs that might be difficult if not impossible for someone who has mobility restraints. There are multiple small rooms with different magicians performing their acts and there is also the main stage. The drinks were really good but a bit pricey. If it's your bday they will give you a nice bday pin! We had dinner reservations and the staff were super friendly and helpful! We had the bread to share and it was delicious! The portion sizes vary by dish. I ordered the prime rib which was significantly more than what I can eat! My bf had the beef wellington and it was delicious but a little smaller. We ordered the asparagus to share and they were perfect for me, not too soft and not hard. For dessert I had the chocolate owl which was amazing! It is big and good to share. It was also my bday so they brought a flute of yummy sparkling wine and ice-cream. Once you are done with dinner, they provide tickets to the show in the main room. Sadly it was too late for us to stay since it was a weekday and we had to work the next morning. Overall, if you ever have a chance to visit, TAKE IT! I hadn't been in a very long time and was excited to check it out again. Dinner kicked things off, and it was excellent: steak cooked perfectly, chicken juicy and tender, paired with a solid wine list. Think classic steakhouse quality, executed flawlessly. Then the real fun began. At the bar, make sure you grab the second seat from the left, you'll thank me later. We were fortunate enough to have met someone who knew someone and got whisked away on a castle tour! The main stage performance was fun, but the real magic happens in the side shows. Tucked away in smaller rooms, the up close illusions left us genuinely astonished. One side show in particular had us leaning forward in our seats, watching the impossible happen inches from our faces. That's where the Magic Castle really earns its name. read more

An LA classic! I hadn't visited the Magic Castle since I was a kid but I recently had the opportunity to go back and I'm so grateful for the invite! It is an invite only deal, however I heard if you book a room at the hotel, you can get into the castle! There are lots of things to know before even stepping inside the castle. There's a valet fee, entry fee, and you've gotta buy dinner to see the big show. There are a couple bars throughout the castle and loads of tip jars around so be sure to bring cash. The dress code: It was pretty strict on paper and I saw lots of folks dressed to the nines which was really fun. I did see a couple folks not following it inside the castle which made me scratch my head. Better safe to follow it than not because they are checking IDs and everything at the door! The glam of the wardrobe adds to the whole vibe of the night for sure. There are no pictures allowed inside which I loved! To see everyone phone-less and interacting with each other was so nice. I actually ended up talking to a lot of people I didn't know! Everyone is just in such a good mood and out to have a good time. I recommend grabbing a program and taking a look to see when showtimes are. You'll be on the move quite a bit if you want to see more than just a show or two. Sometimes you even might have to wait in a short line, but the good news is that you can take cocktails with you everywhere in the castle! So have a friend or two stay in line while the others grab drinks. While we saw several amazing shows, my favorite part of the night was probably Irma. She's in a cozy little lounge next to one of the bars and it's so fun to talk to her and suggest songs! As far as the food - honestly I had somewhat low expectations from what other people had told me but I was pleasantly surprised! I got the shrimp pasta and the wedge salad which I enjoyed. The shrimp were huge! Also got to try the garlic bread and beef wellington which were very good. For dessert, you've got to get the BANANA CREAM PIE! Another highlight from the evening. Oh my goodness! This place was beyond magical. My son and I were in town because he performed magic in Burbank earlier in the week. Being so close to Halloween, it was decorated like a very spooky Alice In Wonderland inside. They don't allow any photography or videos inside, so I respected that rule and only took pictures outside. It was my son's dream to come here some day, as he is a magician himself, and we finally did! All the performances we were able to watch were incredible, the performers are very charismatic and definitely fantastic at their trade. We were definitely entertained! We were able to enjoy a drink at the bar, the bartenders were very nice. I loved how my drink came with a flower in it, it was so pretty! The staircases are narrow, so you do have to watch your step, I am so glad I wore my sensible shoes! Many of the guests were in costumes for Halloween, so that was really cool as well. My son picked some items up in the on site gift shop that he really wanted, so that was icing on his cake! The parking is valet only, but it was worth the price to walk through those doors. We really enjoyed our time at the Castle and plan to come back again the next time we are in town! read more

WOW! Talk about a hidden gem here in Los Angeles! I had never heard of this place u til a friend told me about it. So, to understand this place, let me give you a brief description as it is not what you may think. This is a "members only" establishment where magicians of all different levels perform and study. It really should be called the Magic Mansion since it's more of a large house than a castle. There are multiple floors with multiple small theaters on each floor where you can see a very intimate magic shows. Almost every floor has a bar of it's own and each theater has it's own personality/design to it. There is also a dining room with a great menu (as well as a decent wine menu too). If you're not a member, like me, there is a way around that. I happen to catch the magic show performance tour here in Los Angeles, which granted me access to the Magic Castle. You can invite up to 6 people. I HIGHLY recommend either becoming a member (if you LOVE magic that much) or go see one of their magic shows from their tour (not sure when that tour takes place or how often). This was SUCH A fun experience and would DEFINITELY go back....I just have to figure out how I'm going to do that. If you would like to be transported back to the early 1900s, this is the spot! I love that there is a photo op right near the entrance. No photos are allowed once you open the secret door to the clubhouse. If you are caught taking photos, you and your entire party will be kicked out. It's strictly enforced. Food & Drinks: For appetizers, I thoroughly enjoyed the four cheese garlic bread and roasted Brussels sprouts. The cheesy garlic bread was light, garlicy, cheesy, soft, and crunchy. You could really taste the Jack, Parmesan, cream, and aged cheese. Perfection in a dish. The roasted lemony Brussels sprouts were simply seasoned with olive oil, lemon, brown butter, salt, and pepper. It came out perfectly tender with crispy edges. Highly recommend ordering both. And as for entrees, my friends and I decided to go family style and share the food. We shared the Tomahawk steak, lobster tail, beef wellington, jambalaya pasta, and Chilean bass. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and juicy. It was so tender that I barely had to chew. It was also beautifully presented. It also came with a side of roasted and crunchy golden brown potatoes. The buttery lobster tail was super juicy, flavorful, and tasty. It was so decadent. Well seasoned with butter, salt, pepper, and a hint of paprika. The beef wellington was such an amazing, classic, and luxurious dish. Cooked to perfection, the mouthwatering and extremely tender beef tenderloin was wrapped in a light, buttery, flaky puffy pasty with a savory mushroom filling. The crust was glazed to a shiny golden brown. You could also taste the earthy truffle live pate. It also came with a side of roasted to perfection, golden brown garlic potatoes and broiled seasonal veggies. The jambalaya pasta was such a bold and flavorful Cajun dish. It brought a spicy and savory element to the al dente rich and creamy pasta. Tender shrimp, spicy sausage, and bell peppers. Yum! The steamed Chilean bass was so fricken delicious. It was so delicately tender, flaky, and most. Perfectly seasoned. The roasted potatoes that accompanied the fish were lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. It was also fluffy on the inside and very crispy on the outside. For desserts, I loved the banana cream pie. The custard was so creamy and smooth. The buttery flaky pie crust was delicious too. I would get this again in a heartbeat. We also had their special chocolate owl dessert. It was so rich, sweet, and moist. Overall, it was such an excellent and mouthwatering meal. And as for drinks, I had a refreshing mojito for dinner. I also had a beautiful and tasty purple martini at one of the bar shows. The entertainment was fantastic! Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, courteous, and helpful. Huge shout out to our server, Andrea. She was so incredibly attentive, kind, efficient, knowledgeable, chill, and friendly. Excellent customer service skills. I just loved her positive and amiable attitude. She's extremely approachable. She knew the menu incredibly well, and she was extremely careful at making sure that my close friend didn't suffer any allergic reactions to the special dessert that they offered. I got to meet the dope, kind, friendly, and laid back bouncer / security guard, Scott. They accept credit cards only. There is no credit card minimum. Note: If you have trouble walking, you may or may not want to reconsider coming here. There are a lot of stairs, and I didn't see an elevator. The Magic Castle is also dimly lit. I saw an elderly gentleman take a spill down the stairs while I was there. He was okay, but still scary to witness. read more
