Most extensive of all Michigan gear stores in Ann Arbor. Decades came and went, their locations, store facade, interior layout and merchandise evolved over time, and through it all MDen emerged in its current form as the head honcho gear retailer on Umich campus. In the 1990s Steve and Barry's, MDen, Michigan Book & Supply, and Ulrich's were arguably the four most prevalent retailers selling branded college gear on campus, the latter two being mainly textbook stores, and S&B being the more college-kid-affordable type of spot that occupied part of the current MDen State Street location. Back then Elmo's Printing was still running out of a residential house south of Packard, and Underground Printing was still an idea waiting to be born. Around early 2000s, when S&B went bankrupt, MDen expanded and took over their retail space, as well as some of their market share, introducing over time their own basic and trendy apparel collections and collaborations with other brands (outside of traditional players like Nike, such as more recent Lululemon and Tommy Bahama collabs). Nowadays MDen is the go-to school spirit shop that carries everything from UofM stickers to lawn and Christmas ornaments, college graduation caps and gowns, sports jerseys, wall decor, bumper stickers, bobble heads, and all types of men's and women's apparel and accessories. You can come here for shirts with the word "Michigan" in 20 different languages, t-shirts and sweatshirts for every individual college and major degree program at the university, as well as yoga wear and golf outfits. I had 2 M Den cards to shop with and was told - sorry these ones were bankrupt! I said but this IS the MDen! They said they have new MDen cards so we could not use my cards. Money that was on them just lost! Also the store at Chrysler didn't have a big variety of M things... We went to Dick's Sporting Goods and spent $500 on all the cool M stuff they had. This physical location is closed. The online prices are high and the pictures are deceiving. Shipping is expensive and it'll take about a month to get to you, even in MI. You can't return in the one store remaining, despite what the website says, and you are responsible for return shipping costs. Customer service never responded to my inquiry. With just a short time to wander around Ann Arbor at the end of our long weekend in Michigan, we wanted to make sure we came home with some great memorabilia to impress/depress (!!) our Ohio State-loving friends and family back home in Ohiooooooooo, and there's no better place that this virtual MUSEUM of everything/anything UNIVERSITY of MICHIGAN!! I've always loved wandering bookstores, esp. college bookstores (where they seem to no longer sell books!!) and this place really is AMAZING!! I have absolutely ZERO loyalty to OSU, the University of Michigan, or any other schools other than my two tiny (compared to this and other "big name" schools) alma maters in NYS and Baltimore (yay Fredonia and UMBC!!) but it's fun to browse through all of the crazy amounts of OFFICIAL stuff!! It's usually waaaaay overpriced, and easy enough to find at a local discount store for half the price, but I picked up a relatively reasonably priced hoodie and some bumper stickers (hope my car will be safe here in Ohiooooo!!) As a foreign language lover, I was intrigued by the UM shirts in a ton of foreign languages upstairs-- Should have picked up a few just to keep people guessing back home-- Maybe next visit!!! Be sure to stop by this (and the other location??) great one stop shop for EVERYTHING you need (and plenty you don't really need, but why not?!?) Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine. I just assume this is this store's motto since they carry all things Michigan for students, alumni, and tourists like me. I'm a Cal Bear, but the colors are the same. Ours are blue and gold. Here it's blue and maize. Maize? I guess that makes sense if you need to have Michigan corn-on-the-cob holders to match your Wolverine dinner plate set. The best University of Michigan apparel and merchandise store. Had always gone to Moe's around the corner, but those guys are owned by M Den and this location is much better - a 2-story monstrosity with all the goods. Bought 2 hats, scarf, gloves, ponchos and could have bought Michigan anything here. Total mayhem on game day, but they managed it well and got in and out in 30 minutes with a minimum of frustration. The M Den is the spot to buy Michigan gear. This location in particular is massive--and it has even grown since the last time I was there. They have just about anything you might want to rep the Wolverines. Housewares, men's clothes, women's clothes, kids' clothes, accessories, memorabilia... I can't even think of it all. They even have a shirt for what appeared to be every single major at U-M!!!! The awesome thing is that they really know what they're doing here. I went on Friday before game day recently, and they had multiple registers opened in addition to the permanent registers in the store. While the store was absolutely a zoo (and thus hot), I checked out in no time at the back of the store on the second floor. They were also constantly bringing in MORE gear. Tubs and tubs of gear to restock. Unfortunately, they never brought in more of the pullover I wanted while I was there, but yanno. Life happens. (Pro tip: If you want maize gear before a Maize Out, I suggest looking before the day in advance.) The M Den also operates an extensive website, and they have locations inside the stadium but also tents outside. It's really thee spot to buy U-M gear, and generally, you can find most of it! Note: Parking can be a little crazy in this area. If you are able, park 6 or 7 blocks away (not toward campus) and walk; you'll have better luck finding a spot (opposed to circling for a meter around here). read more

There's something for everyone and everything bears the mark or logo of the University. The M Den retailers are so expansive and the fandom so passionate, that the retailer consistently ranks in the top ten nationally for all collegiate retailers that includes the like of big box stores, Barnes and Nobles, etc. From t-shirts, to sweatshirts, to key chains, and tailgate gear, everything is here. The Victors Collection located in its own room/section is one of the most special and unique parts of the store. I absolutely love this store. They have everything imaginable that is Michigan Wolverine related. I could easily spend thousands of dollars in this store. If you're looking for anything Michigan Wolverines this would be the place! They are kind of expensive but really no more expensive than anywhere else for official merchandise. The store is large and two stories. The employees are friendly and helpful in locating anything you are looking for. You could easily spend an hour looking at everything. There is street parking available but street parking in Ann Arbor can be challenging. Your best bet is the public parking structure about a block away. read more

This M-Den location is monstrous now that it's expanded and taken over La Marsa. There isn't an item you cannot find here. I like they have value items on the second floor. I overheard a mother say, "I am not paying $70 for a sweatshirt," with which I agree, so it's nice that they have items for less than $25. They have Michigan gear for literally everything you can think of. Spatulas, crock pots, sock monkeys... EVERYTHING! It gets crazy here on game days and such when everyone's trying to buy some spirit wear. read more

While I am from Ohio and I live in California, I bleed maize and blue. On a recent trip to Detroit to see the Wings play, I stopped by Ann Arbor to go to the M-Den and check out the University. The M-Den is as good as it gets for Michigan fans! They have almost anything you can imagine. Michigan apparel, pool tables, furniture, memorabilia, etc. On top of this, there is a value section on the second floor where you can get jerseys for half off and t-shirts for $10. I got an authentic jersey, hat, t-shirt and beanie for just over $100. You really can't beat that price! The store was VERY clean, well organized and the staff was very nice. read more

Prices can be a bit steep, but employees are friendly and the selection is wide. I love the temporary tattoos and face paint. The car magnets are also cute, but mine all got torn off and stolen (presumably by obnoxious State fans) on Sunday's basketball game day... but the Wolverines prevailed, so I feel avenged. The best place to find University of Michigan gear. It can get very crowded on football weekends so I recommend going earlier in the morning or during the weekday if you do not like crowds. That being said, they have plenty of merchandise if you do go on a football weekend. In the past few years, the M Den has significantly expanded their women's section - great move! read more

There is so much here! If you are a Michigan fan you will love it here. I can't believe how much they pack into this place. While I looked through almost every rack I spent most of my time in the sale room. I was incredibly happy with the selection of sale items and pricing. I am very upset with ONLINE MDEN and I am not sure which store that goes to. I live out of state and depend on ordering things online, I was heading out of town and going to the see Big Blue play basketball and ordered new shirts ( 3 shirts $55) I paid for the 2 day shipping which would have left 2 days before my trip and well they did not get here in 2 days. I had to leave without the new gear. I am upset as I tried to contact online and explained what was going and I had already sent 3 emails and no response...needless to say I am upset. The guy named Doug does not know "customer service" i was told I could send the items back at my expense and then he would credit me, ARE YOU KIDDING? I just wanted the shipping charged back to my account and I am not about to pay for shipping to send it all back.
