I was recommended by a magician to check out the Magic Apple if I was serious about learning some magic. I stopped by the shop with one of my friends and the employees were so helpful and entertaining. They showed us a few tricks and amazed us. We each bought the Card College Volume 1 book and fancy decks of cards. In fact, if you are looking for cards the Magic Apple is your spot. They have so many decks to choose from. I am giving this a 4-star review because I love coming here, but... BEWARE when you buy a trick here. Be sure to ask if what you've bought is the trick itself or if it's just the DVD. I recently bought the Rainmaker trick, only to open it and find that it's only the DVD tutorial, which is online anyway. The actual trick dollars were not included. I already knew how to do the trick, so my $15 were wasted on a tutorial that I didn't need. I guess I'll have to make the trick dollars myself. Other than that experience, the tricks I've bought from them have packed a punch every time I've performed them. Having a touch of spectacle really elevates your show from just being a string of card tricks (even though I personally love card tricks). read more

To magicians, pranksters and lovers of novelty joke items, the place is really good and representative of what a brick and mortar magic shop is supposed to be. To those new to magic and pranks...you need to go to a 'real' vs Internet place because the guidance, demonstrations and advice are invaluable compared to hopping websites. To those who are looking for specific items you need to call or visit since they simply don't list all their items on their store website. I found books on their shelves that are unavailable thru the publisher, thru eBay, thru circles of my magic friends and even used book stores. I saw magic tricks lower than advertised prices. This place is where the pro's shop. It has everything. The staff was nice to me. The guy working that day was very helpful and he was very knowledgable. What suppressed me was when I was picking up some Johnson Coin products, I thought that I had to ask to see each item. He jut put the bin of Johnson Coin's and let me look freely through the different coin effects. No magic shop that I know does that. What separates them from other magic shops I have been to In Southern California was the fact that they have a demo deck section in the store. If you were wondering if you liked the feel of a Phoenix or a Blue Crown deck, you can test it out. I really like that because it saved men some money on some of the decks I was thinking about purchasing. They also have some jam tables for magicians to hang out and demo new tricks to each other or help others refine a basic card slight. They also offer discounts for I.B.M, S.A.M, and Magic Castle Members (unless due to contractual obligations with their suppliers on certain products. Even then, the produces are clearly marked "No Discount"). It saved me a lot of money on some of the coin tricks and books I bought. To any magician Visiting the L.A. area for whatever reason, this shop is a must to visit! It is not far from Universal Studios either. read more

STOP BUYING ON LINE and run to this STORE!!! This is the GREATEST Magic Store EVER! My whole family loves going there. The owner is funny, patient, and really knowledgable. He is also fluent in American Sign Language which is not only AMAZING but makes shopping there and demo-ing tricks soooo much easier for me, since I am deaf. Also the merchandise is reasonably priced. Also I know what I am getting so that I don't get surprised by on-line orders. I can tell that this store is more than a business.. it is a lifelong passion for the owner, which makes shopping there SO MUCH FUN!!!
