Andrew is absolutely amazing. I was trying to find a venue to host a celebration for my partner's birthday and Andrew was so accommodating and helpful. He was super patient and willing to hop on a call to discuss my vision, as well as provide suggestions on how to make it even better. He also invited me out to watch a show prior to booking with him! When I met him in person, I was captivated by the acts and how approachable Andrew was. He's so friendly and just easy to talk to. He also puts on a great show. I was entertained the whole time and there wasn't a dull moment. His theater is cozy, but thoughtfully decorated. I also like how the front part is a candy shop and there's a "hidden" door leading to the actual performance area. The venue is also BYOB. We started planning the surprise party many, many months in advance and Andrew was great at communicating and keeping me in the loop. He even helped coordinate the guests and got them into position while I was leading the guest of honor to the venue. In addition, Andrew offered to help oversee the catering orders, but I ended up deciding to handle that on my own (with the help of a couple friends). The big day finally came and went and my partner was delighted by all the tricks. Andrew graciously gifted us bags of candy and also supplied some additional snacks (chips and peanut m&ms). The ONLY thing I missed compared to the initial performance was the secret cocktail trick (which I think my group would have absolutely died over). If you're thinking about checking out a magic show, don't sleep on The Magic Patio. You'll be in for quite the treat! read more

The Magic Patio show was very impressive. I would say it's even better than The Illusionist: - It's shorter than I expected. It's more like 60 minutes. But it's very action-packed and fast-paced. - Half the fun is Andrew's showmanship, which is very San Francisco. - All the tricks were great; there were no duds. One of the tricks, with a "magic cocktail shaker", stunned everyone. - There is a lot of audience participation; with a small audience, about half the crowd participated. Similar to The Illusionist, The crowd really bonded over the communal engagement. - It's BYOB, and they provide glasses. A lot of people brought wine and beer, and it was awesome. - There is a pinball machine set to free play in back; check that out before the show. read more

I agree with the other 5* reviews! This was SO MUCH FUN, and definitely a change from other nights out. The venue is beautiful, the audience primed and ready for an old-fashioned good time, and the performance was amazing. I'm still stumped! Not to mention that the magician is both talented and quite funny at the same time, and delighted kids to elders. I've gone to the Magic Patio shows from before the pandemic to just this month. I no longer live in San Francisco, but I try to catch a show whenever I'm back. Andrew is a wonderful magician. He's a great entertainer in general. There were funny moments and heartfelt moments, and his shows always have a nice narrative flow. The actual magic stuff is great too. The decor of the theater has a lot of love in it. He and his crew have built most of it. There's a lot of custom carpentry. Bathrooms: Clean, well-decorated, but there's only one, so come early if you want to use it before the show starts. read more

Everything about this place was magical, from the not-so-secret location on Mission Street to the amazing showmanship of Andrew Evans, with the quirky and inviting decor and lighting in the venue adding a nice touch. It was everything I expected and more. Some of the illusions were typical acts commonly performed by magicians, like cutting the rope, teleportation, and mentalism tricks involving the crowd. But I was blown away by the mysterious act pouring different drinks out of a milk carton. And I'm easily entertained regardless, so even the old tricks never really get old, especially when the magician is a talented performer who knows how to engage the audience, adding a bit of comedy too. The Magic Patio is perfect for date night, the warm ambience in this intimate space and captivating performance on stage will definitely put you in a good mood, wanting more. We went to The Magic Patio to celebrate my husband's birthday. The magician kept all the audience intrigued and happy the entire time. The acts I wouldn't share since you should go experience them all on your own. Some of us are still trying to figure out how the magic worked - we went in August and it's almost December go figure. I went here for my birthday (actually on my birthday) 12/17/25 and it was a magical night. My friends and I were super in awe of this show, the tricks, the showmanship, the large amount of audience participation. What a wonderfully enchanted evening! It was BYOB and an intimate venue which both added to the awesomeness. I'm bringing my family back in January and even though I'll likely see the same tricks I know I'll still be in awe and seeing others experience it with me will also be amazing! A hidden gem experience right in the middle of San Francisco! This speakeasy like magic show really impressed me considering I had no expectations. Shows are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with Fri and Sat shows done by Andrew. The space and show are very kid friendly! Andrew is a real performer and involves the audience in every single trick. I've been to quite a few magic shows including the Magic Castle. While not all the tricks were mind blowing, Andrew's energy and performance really made the show for me. This is perfect for new magic enthusiasts or a special night out. Tips: - The space is relatively small so tickets ($40-50) can sell out! Buy with your friends all at once to avoid this. - No reserved seating so show up early if you'd like to be closer to the front and sit with your party. - This place is BYOB! They provide cups in the back, but there's nowhere to place drinks when seated so we just had to be careful and placed them on the floor. - The location is all street parking and very close to Mitchell's Ice Cream for that post-show treat. read more

I have seen my fair share of magic shows ranging from back yards to dinner theaters to Vegas and this was definitely in my top 3 favorites! Andrew is fun, fresh, clever, and is a great entertainer. If you're shy, there's nowhere to hide because the venue is a good intimate size of about 50. But why hide when you can have a good time? There's tons of audience participation! Some of his tricks were unique and I've never seen them before. And last but not least, you can brink your own drinks!!! Though they do have a bar if you want to purchase. My husband and I have been into magic shows lately so we did a quick search nearby and The Magic Patio came up! We booked a ticket for a Friday night and arrived about 25mins early to grab a seat. Despite the name being the Magic Patio (an ode to his old venue I assume), the venue is actually indoors, it is BYOB and the magician Andrew even made everyone homemade cookies! Andrew was great, he is such a great performer and does a good job getting the audience involved. His tricks were awesome and really had us scratching our heads for the rest of the weekend. This was probably one of my favorite more intimate magic shows in the city and I would love to come back and see it again. read more

It's a small theater right on Mission St. The magician, Andrew Evans, has a really fun style to him, and did some tricks that blew our minds. This is the best magic show in the city. Period! Andrew is LEGEND and creates an amazing atmosphere that is both intimate and epic all at the same time. His charisma and energy make you feel so welcome but it's never stuffy or too "in your face." Andrew did a wonderful magic performance for our company - employees of all ages and their families. Everyone found him upbeat and engaging, as well as astounding! He was very good with the kids (I recommend for ages 8 and up) and he did a "second act" for just the adults.
