Long lines at food truck rallies or festivals do not always mean there is awesome food. People love seeing lobster rolls on menu. One after the other, lobster roll please, yes may I have a lobster roll. The Maine Thang 's pretty happy with hearing that. Money in their pockets. But seriously their lobster roll had no taste whatsoever. Waited, I swear almost an hour for nothing. There was not much meat on it either compared to others, and it was just thrown on a hot dog bun with no seasoning whatsoever. Bland at best. Of course as I waited for my already ordered and paid for lobster roll, you can clearly see them taking out pre-packaged frozen food out. Lesson learned. No thanks. I will stick to the lobster roll I know I like, and eventually know the best lobster rolls in the area. Not here for sure. read more

I had always passed by the Food Truck Bazaar, but I decided on a whim to try it today. I was excited to get a seafood platter (since that's my typical order if any restaurant offers it). It was listed to feed 2 people. The prices were higher than I was used to, but I figured it would be worth it. The guy taking my order didn't greet me, but seemed distracted. I waited about 10-15 minutes before it was ready. It was broken out into 2 different containers, split evenly. At first glance, it looked a little disappointing. Every piece of seafood was smaller than expected. They were also a little salty. Fries were a little bland. The crab cake was at least half filler (some sort of breading); I didn't try it. I didn't look at any Yelp reviews prior, which could've saved me $20+. Other reviews commented on its average taste and how it tastes like it's prepackaged from the freezer. I would agree with that. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not good. I would not try this food truck again unless it made an effort to serve fresh seafood. read more

The Maine Thang is an Orlando based food truck which specializes in seafood platters and sandwiches. Seafood baskets are available which include French fries, slaw, and a pickle. You can also order your seafood "on the light side" and your order with include a bag of chips and a pickle. I have had their lobster roll and their shrimp on a stick. Both were fairly good and fresh. I felt the potion of lobster could have been a little bit larger. The truck owners were very friendly. The food was prepared quickly. Prices are towards the higher end here as compared to other food trucks. We were able to take advantage of a 15% off discount because they were running a special if you liked their Facebook page. Ate here today during a food truck rally at the Florida state fairgrounds, after waiting in a line for about 45 minutes. After finally placing our order and moving to the side, we witnessed a prior customer come up and return his order, stating it was the worst seafood he'd ever had (lobster roll and scallops) and demanding a full refund. Yikes, I was worried (we'd also ordered the lobster roll, as well as the fish bites). And for good reason. Standing by the back with the preparation area visible, I was able to see that all of the seafood items being pulled from the freezer were packaged similarly to what you'd find in a big box store (Sam's Club type packaging), so there really was nothing fresh from Maine, or fresh at all, here. I was extremely disappointed, and the lobster roll WAS the worst ever!!! It looked nothing like the picture advertised where we placed our order. It was on a hot dog bun, was too cold, bland except for being a little salty, and a little slimey. The fish bites weren't bad, but they weren't anything fantastic either. It was a very small portion (and there was no tartar sauce...boo ). Why 3 stars? Because it was a middle of the road lobster roll. --- --- --- My biggest complaint with lobster rolls is usually that they go skimpy on the lobster. That's not the issue at The Maine Thang, but there are some other issues. First of all, the bread is so tiny, that this is practically lobster served on a mini tortilla. When you try to pick it up, the lobster just falls out everywhere. The lobster was relatively bland. It almost seemed like it was extra wrinkly or something - like your skin when you sit in the bathtub too long. Just a different texture than I've ever experienced. It wasn't awful or anything, but just a tad on the disappointing side. Side note: they announced on their Facebook that they would be at the location near my house at 2:00p. We arrived at 2, and they were not there. We waited around, and eventually left at 2:15. At 2:17, I wrote on their Facebook, Are you guys still coming? :) At 3:10, they wrote, "We are here already." Don't often feel like writing these types of reviews, but pretty disappointed offering with this lobster roll basket. The lobster roll portion was very skimpy, the meat was very tiny leg pieces, with some claw meat, almost like it was mechanically pulled apart. Didn't find any tail meat, if there was any it was shredded. The lobster meat portion was in a small roll in top of some lettuce, so the greens just added bulk to the sandwich, it was just made to look larger with the veggies under the meat. The fries were Ore Ida crinkle cut type bagged frozen fries, they were served warm, but had a stale flavor, maybe it was from the cooking oil? Found it all pretty bland and not worth what I paid. I'm not overly pleased when an establishment tells you they're serving one thing but you receive a totally different item. Unfortunately that was the case with The Maine Thang. Their menu is slightly over priced so I ordered only 1 crab cake. Before I did however, I asked what type of crab is used and how it's served. I was informed they use blue crab and that it was topped w/a seafood sauce. I was given a fast food type of packaged cocktail sauce and a frozen disc that had been deep fried. It was bland and barely warm in the center. Blue crab? Nope. Slivers of imitation crab meat? Yes. I was so disappointed because I was looking forward to a home made seafood product. read more

Usually food trucks seem synonymous with handmade bites. This was not a food truck but a microwave on wheels that charge more than what they actually offer. I had settled on a seafood combo meal with fried shrimp, fish sticks, and scallop bites with fries, coleslaw and pickles. What I got and saw them "prepare" was the frozen food section of the store. The crab cakes (imitation crab in cake form) were from a box in the frozen seafood aisle just like the scallop bites and fried shrimp. I'm going to assume their fries were not handmade since they were chewy with a cool center and not crisp and hot, which is what I expect of a fry. Coleslaw was more than likely from a wholesale container. The pickle was the shining star. It had the crunch and tang of what to expect from a store brand pickle. If I wanted to pay $20 for this pile of store bought frozen bits, I would have just went to the walmart hot meals section and not have to wait 30+ minutes to order and receive my meal. This is a food truck that doesn't even try creating it's own take on seafood recipes. I can only guess their lobster roll was imitation crab in mayonnaise slapped between hot dog buns because that's how low I think they are as a "food truck". Ordered lobster rolls from The Maine Thang at the Key Lime Festival in Port Canaveral yesterday. It was a big mistake. They were completely disorganized. Waited 20 minutes for 2 lobster rolls and fries. It wasn't due to long lines. The lobster meat proved to be frozen, soaked and pressed. It was tasteless and dry. That was the option of my friend from Cape Cod who worked on fishing/lobster boats during her youth. These people don't even deserve a star but you can't give them less than a one star review. So, let's review: 1- Everything they served was out of a freezer and was purchased at either Sam's Club or Costco. 2- There was no connection to Maine other than the word "Maine" in their name. 3- The food was so bad that I (and others) demanded a full refund. 4- None of us believe they served REAL Maine Lobster in their roll. 5- Waited 72 minutes to place an order and an additional 30 minutes to be served. 6- They had a pretty dirty truck and seemed to think that no one noticed how they used their bare hands to handle foods. 7- They way overcharged for fake lobster meat and canned soup. 8- Their attitude was take it or leave it. I went to light up clermont and saw this truck vending with other trucks. Crab cakes sounded good so we got in line, We were in line about 15 minutes before they took our order. After we paid we get a ticket with a number and no food. We were told to wait behind the truck, It took over an hour to get our food. They never told anyone that the wait would be that long and just kept taking order after order and counting there money. When we were finally served the food we were very disappointed. The portion was tiny and had very little flavor. I would advise they sell the cooking equipment and use the food truck to move back to maine. read more

We attend Windermere Food Trucks often and I really messed up purchasing from MT. My favorite lobster truck wasn't attending so I gave MT a shot and should have checked Yelp.
