I brought my 2011 Toyota Camry to Toy Tech after my check engine light came on due to an O2 sensor…read morecode. I paid $158 for a diagnostic and was told the downstream O2 sensor was faulty. Although I was informed that the upstream sensor was not currently failing, I was encouraged to replace both at the same time. I chose to replace only the downstream sensor since that was identified as the source of the issue. Approximately six days after the repair, the check engine light returned. When I contacted the shop, I was advised that the upstream O2 sensor would now need to be replaced at an additional cost of $404. When I asked whether there could be another underlying cause, I did not feel my questions were thoroughly addressed. I decided to seek a second opinion from another repair facility. They diagnosed the problem as an exhaust leak. After repairing the exhaust leak for $160, the check engine light has remained off and the issue has been resolved. I understand that automotive diagnostics can sometimes require further evaluation; however, I am disappointed that the original diagnostic did not identify the exhaust leak and that additional part replacements were recommended before the root cause was determined. Based on my experience with Toytech, I would advise others to consider obtaining a second opinion before authorizing further repairs.

Manager threw a fit over the phone when I called them out for replacing the passenger side because it was Friday and it's an easier job. I told them to replace the correct one. They did, but they didn't put a gasket on the bottom flange and did not tighten the bolts. To make matters worse, they replaced it with a used manifold. Don't trust these guys, find someone else.

However, the manager did nothing but try and defend his mechanic. I brought my 2014 Ram 1500 in to the shop Friday, Jan 24, 2025, because I was having issues with several codes that I could not figure out. All of my issues where inside the engine compartment. When I dropped it off at 7:30am, I was told it would take about an hour or so to diagnose and that I would receive a call from them By 12:45PM, I had not received a call, So I reached out to the shop myself. I was told that the mechanic was done but they needed time to put prices together for the issues found and that they would call me back. At 2PM, I received a call with my quote. They service manager started listing off the issues found and the price quote to fix each issue. One of the issues was lose wiring on my Intake Runner Control Valve. They also started to list off items that I never asked them to checked. The service manager proceeded to tell me that both of my Inner tie rod ends needed to be replaced. Here is the issue with that. My tie rod ends had just recently been replaced and are new. There is also zero reason they should have even lifted the truck up to check the tire rod ends. They informed me that their fix for one of my codes (Cam Shaft Position Sensor) was to replace both my Cam Shaft and Crank Shaft sensors with OEM sensors from Dodge. Again this issue with this, is both sensors were brand new as well. I informed the service manager that I didn't have the money to fix the issues right now, so I would come pay them for the diagnostics and just get my truck. Which I did. When I arrived the mechanic still had my truck in his mechanic bay and I had to wait for him to pull the truck out. As I drove my truck home, I started having serious issues with my truck. It began to run very poorly and started going into limp mode almost immediately as I pulled out of the lot. When I got back home I started to tear into my truck to try and identify the issues they had quoted me. The very first thing I cam to was that they connector to my MAP sensor had been zip tied to my MAP sensor. There was zero mentioned that this plug had an issue and it was not zip tied when I took it to the shop. I then removed my intake manifold to look at the lose wiring for the Intake Runner Control Valve. What I saw next was very disturbing. Their wasn't A lose wire, all four wires from the connector had been removed from he wiring harness and was just shoved back behind the wiring harness. Needless to say, I fixed the wiring the service shop chose to disconnect and moved on with the rest of my issues. And I want to add, that the fix the shop recommended to fix my Cam Shaft Position Sensor, you know replace the sensors with OEM parts, also was not correct. The issue ended up being a simple oil change. A very known issues with HEMI engines. Like I started this review out, I tried to resolve this issue with the shop manager, but he was unwilling to listen and only wanted to defend his employee. BTW had I went ahead and had the shop fix all of the issues they said they found it would have cost me over $1200. All of these issue were fixed in the garage of my house for the cost of an oil change ($50) and a few wire connectors ($6). I know this shop has been around in the northland for decades, and before this incident, I would have recommended them to anyone who asked. But after this incident I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. And I for one will never take any of my vehicles back to them.

I was quoted one price by the head repairman (who runs the shop when the owner is out) prior to working on my car. After the work was done, I was quoted a new price by the owner which was almost $300 more. Not only was I overcharged for labor I did not approve to be done on my car prior, they also broke a valve on my engine. Instead of notifying me about it and fixing what they broke, they decided to GLUE the hose over the broken valve hole with a silicone adhesive. This of course wore off over time and caused my car to break down only 4 months later! They are the only shop to EVER do work on my engine/spark plugs prior to my car breaking down again 4 months later for the very reason they overcharged me to fix! To overcharge me, speak to me condescendingly, and to break something without properly fixing it is such a horrible way to run a business.

I followed up several days later and was able to make an appointment for a potentially minor issue with my car. Once I was rolling, their communication picked up but was still pretty sparse. I had no idea if this was a one hour job, a one day job, or more. Time: I dropped my car first thing on a Wednesday at my appt time and didn't receive it back until Friday afternoon. There was no real time-consuming issue, I feel like they just never really got around to it which was a bummer. To their credit, they did confirm with me that it would be OK to stay an extra day (I have an e-bike so it worked out fine in the end) but that's a long time for what was a quick repair. Value: Good value, I felt the price I paid was fair for the work. Issue: I think my issues with the car will remain, however. I expressly told them about a sound and how to re-create the sound, and they claimed they never heard it. I can go out right now and make it happen clear as day, so again I feel like they just didn't really try to figure it out. I'll have to find someone else who can tackle it. I really, really needed to find a nice mechanic who I could trust after my good one closed and was so hopeful here, but ultimately it fell pretty flat. Not sure if I'd go back or recommend them.

Most places would've fixed the bare minimum, but these guys went above and beyond to make sure the car was safe For my family to drive. They did an incredible job and just by fixing the brakes the ride is so much smoother. All their parts have a warranty.
