This shit hole deserves no stars.... Do not rent here! Their "new management" propaganda means nothing, same shit!! Maintenance- literally takes weeks to get anything done. Our AC broke in the dead of summer and it took them 3 days just to come to the unit and tell us they are going to order a new ac then another 3 days to install it. They don't have enough maintenance people to take care of all the problems here because they are cheap and don't want to pay! Their excuse is " we have over 20 AC complaints" that's because they have old ass air conditioners,hello!!!! Don't move here if you're not accustomed to 85 degree indoor temps. We had a mouse and the maintenance people just stuck some steel wool in the hole in the wall- no patch no nothing, that took about 3 weeks to be addressed as well. Amenities- truly bogus. It's June 15 they haven't opened any of their multiple pools and have no idea when they will be open. That's a trend around here staff having no idea about anything. Their parks for dogs and kids are old and out dated and usually full of mud. Their gym is literally a joke with like 3 machines. Laundry is decent. The "nature trail" is some gravel walkways by some electric poles... Security- The absolute most pointless security measures. They have a "guard" after 8:30-9:00, they don't check anything when you're trying to get in and most the time no one is there to check. They close gates to different entrances at night which is more of a nuisance since there's actually no checking going on at the security post. The worst of it all is that they are charging me another months rent because I did not give a 2 month notice (8 weeks) I gave a seven week notice to not renew my lease. This place is unprofessional, I called Gloria two days advance to set up an appointment to see the unit that was advertised that was ready to move in immediately, so she said to call her when I am in town. When I arrived from Seattle to Schererville, I called her and she never answer the phone, I left a voicemail. a few hours later, she called me back and she asked if I called her or she called me? Then she hung up and I heard her talking to her coworker saying, "it's some fag that's been calling about a unit." LAWSUITE! this is suppose to be a fairhousing place. After reading reviews fromm others, I will not go here nor wants to take a look at this place. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!!!! My experience with the Mansards was horrific, but a HUGH lesson about housing law, contracts, and tenant rights. I will start by saying the account has been resolved and the relationship is dissolved. However, I wanted to share my experience with this company. I wrote a lengthy review, but instead of sharing my life story, I will provide a few summaries. My relative needed a place to live. They asked me to become a co-leaser with them, which I did willing during the first year. --As a co-leaser, I arranged with the leasing office to be contacted via phone for any late/missing payments, since all parties knew I would not live in the unit. This occurred only for the 1st 6 months of the 1st lease. As a result of not continuing to do this, late/missed payments occurred on an account I was responsible for. --I was never contacted a holdover lease was being executed. --After I was receiving information about the lease and late/missed payments through a 3rd party, I resolved the matter in a timely fashion and arranged AGAIN with the leasing office to be contacted via phone for any late/missing payments. They agreed. --I followed up via email and was told of a late/missing payment! Without my follow up monthly, I would not been contacted about the account, despite the above incident. AGAIN, I made efforts to resolve the issue in a timely fashion. It was clear management would not communicate with me as we arranged two times before. --As a result of the above, it was also clear I needed to seek legal counsel to ensure I would vacate the lease, which I did. They did, but only after upon receiving a letter developed by my legal representatives. My verbal requests, coupled with the above situations, were not enough. --Moving out was not easy. I personally came from Indy and cleaned the apartment myself. The housekeeper came into the apartment and wrote clearly on the closing paperwork how painting was needed (which I have a copy of), but states how the unit would not be charged. OF COURSE, they charged half of the cost out of the deposit for the paint job. I choose not to question this. I was ready to end the relationship. I'll be the first to say I was naive on my part about the contract regarding holdover. Again, this was an eye-opening experience. However, I tried hard to do everything in my power to arrange payments when made aware, maintain communication (from Chicago or Indy) and have a smooth move out the unit. Despite my efforts, there was a large lack of concern, little to no communication, and of course errors made along the way on their part that made this a really bad experience. I'm not new to working with housing management, but they were hard to work with. I would NEVER recommend Mansards to anyone for any reason. Update to Management comment on left on 1/29/2016: I do not think staff should "TRY to advise leaseholders and/or cosigners of missing or late payments as soon as they are accrued" but really do it! This is a method of ensuring the account is resolved. A simple email or phone call to the cosigners prior to legal action being taken on the account would have been great (and all I asked for). read more

They stated they gave her a message which she didn't receive. Then claimed they couldn't refund my money because they gave her the message after I told them I had found another location to live. I can not stand Park West apartments (The Mansards). This place is a mess. After 3 years of living in a 2 bedroom apt I decided to stay with this complex and upgrade to a 3 bedroom. I had to force them to change dirty stained carpet from the previous tenants. Then after two days of living in the 3 bedroom I started getting gnats from a basement apartment. The exterminator was called and the exterminator said that it has been a problem before we moved there. 3 weeks later the gnats are still there and all Parkwest apartments could do was give me $75 off my bill. I had to take my family out everyday to eat because it was too many gnats to eat in the apartment. Do not move there. They don't care and all they want is money. Horrible. They have roaches and rodents and don't seem to care too much about the issue, stated that they've had that "problem" in every unit. Rent is higher than expected. Free heat, but u have to pay for gas (includes the use of hot water). Most of the units are old and desperately needs to be remodeled. No central air, a/c units barely function properly and does NOT keep apt cool at all. The management is very crappy as well. This place is just not worth it. My husband and I moved in June 2015. We absolutely love it here. Our building is always well kept. Any maintenance issues are resolved within 48 hours and we love all the amenities. Before we moved in we were kind of skeptical because of all the negative reviews. So far we've been here 8 months and we've never had those issues. Everyone has been extremely helpful and kind. Before you formulate a judgment on any place, always do your own research. They have been under new management for the last 3 years! read more

Lived here for past 10 years and love it. The owner has been renovating the place this summer and it looks even nicer. My aunt had her wedding in the clubhouse in May and it was unforgettable. Best part is the indoor pool and indoor tennis courts - cant beat this in the winter. read more

Maintenance Manager Erica doesn't have a clue on how to be a manager of maintenance ... How do you not know how your supervisor manages his workers... Also they don't care if their residents environment is unsafe due to poor lighting ... Residents don't pick up after their dogs leaving poo all over the grass and sidewalks.. Kids piss and hang out in the halls .. You have three washers and four dryers to share between three buildings... Horrible how the leasing manager takes care of renewals... I have to call in order to get a freaking copy.. And was told it would be in the office but they couldn't find it ... So I had to wait another week to actually get a copy .. I moved into the Mansards in December of 2015, my lease will be up Nov 30th and I will NOT be renewing and here's why. Not long after I moved in the paint started chipping on the newly painted cabinets, I called maintenance, maintenance came and nothing was done about it. Shortly after that problem the range hood above the stove dropped onto the stove so I had to call maintenance again and that was actually the only time anything was ever fixed properly. Within days the drawer fell apart in the kitchen and I called maintenance about that and again about the cabinets. The guy came and took the drawer and glued it back on and left glue dripping down the cabinet and I was told that he couldn't do anything about the paint and that it was someone else's job. I called maintenance about the cabinets so many times I just gave up. There was also a leak in my bathroom coming from upstairs through the exhaust fan and was told that maintenance just emptied the bucket that was full (below the sink) in the bathroom above mine. If there was any mold or mildew growing I would never know because no one opened the ceiling to investigate. The towel rack was loose and fell and guess who drilled new unlevel holes in the wall and didn't patch the old ones? The same guy who can't seem to fix anything else when he's sent here. I called maintenance about a leak in my wall coming from the air conditioner and I was told that there isn't anything they can do but replace the ac unit. HVAC is my profession and I know that the ac is draining inside the wall and that wall needs to be opened and the condensate drain needs to be drained outside instead of inside the wall. I have three children under the age of three and every time I turn on the air I smell mildew so we just f**king sweat every day so I don't risk getting them sick. I've called maintenance too many times and management never returns my calls so what else can I do but wait until my lease is up and run out of here with lightening speed! Maintenance is a joke and management is an even bigger joke. I've been late on my rent twice and I've paid all associated fees before the deadline and when I'm on time they lose my cashiers check and put a late notice on my door. There are three washers, four dryers for forty apartments and they don't work AT ALL!!! I'm sure we've all called maintenance about that too but they haven't done anything about it. The swimming pools are disgusting and never clean, the restrooms are horrible. The only good thing I can say about the Mansards is that there's always a sheriff driving through or sitting but other than that this place is all bad. They didn't even replace the carpet before we moved in they just had it shampooed and there were stains everywhere. With all that being said if you don't run from this hole you'll regret it. Oh and for you gamers if you're hoping for good internet speeds forget about it this place has bad wiring and I've had both comcast and at&t so nope, not here. Oh, almost forgot about the loose sockets that won't hold anything you plug in them and I was told I'd need to call an electrician for that. read more

As I am looking at these reviews that the mansards has, I'm quite disappointed because most of these reviews are either really old or made by people who haven't even lived in the mansards. I have lived in the mansards for a year and I love it. Everyone is so friendly and you don't have to worry about being robbed. It's a really safe environment. You could walk around the mansards at 4 am and nothing will happen to you. The mansards is really big and had many stores that are walking distance which is really good so you don't have to waste gas. This place deserves NO stars! I have a judgment on my rental history because of them! This place is horrible! My car was broken into TWICE and the first time the person who broke inside my car took my wallet and the next day the main office called me and told me that my wallet was there in their clubhouse. When I explained the situation to the person and asked if they can look at the cameras and check their log book to see who came in that day she told me they couldn't do that and that Griffith police would have to do that. Then a week before our lease was up someone tried to kick down our door and wound up jamming the door shut. Oh and during the winter the cap to the air conditioner in the main room kept popping off and when I asked maintenance to fix it they told me they didn't have anything to fix it. Lastly no matter how much you pay to clean your apartment or paint the walls, they will take your security deposit and STILL charge extra when you move out. DO NOT MOVE IN! They have specials for a reason! It's nothing but a set up, it doesn't matter if they have new management the mansards are just not worth it. I paid my rent every month on time, I even paid extra and now I can't rent anywhere else because I refuse to pay the mansards those dumb ass fees. DONT DO IT! read more

Avoid living here at all costs. This is the most unprofessional complex I have ever dealt with. They do not return calls, hold payments until they are late, don't put in work orders, etc. the list goes on and on. Majority of the people in the office have an attitude. They advertise having 4 outdoor pools and an indoor pool but in the 2 years I lived there the outdoor pool right off my patio never opened. In fact, 3 of the 4 outdoor pools never opened. I called several times from my move out date trying to get a final total. I left several messages detailing who I was, what I wanted, and how I could be reached. Not a single call was returned. Now 2 months later I have a letter saying my final total has gone to collections. Not only am I being charged a late fee and administrative fee but now I have to deal with collections and my credit being hurt all because they refuse to do their jobs correctly and return a call. I am seriously considering taking this petty establishment to court over this. I cannot believe I am being subjected to this. I have still been calling since I received the letter. Dolores (the receptionist) is telling me "Chenelle (bookkeeping) is on the phone can you call back in 15 minutes?" Then when I call back in 15 minutes Dolores is telling me "Chenelle is away from her desk can I take a message and I will have her call you back." This place is unbelievable. Stay away. They suck, when I moved to the Mansards it was beautiful not to many kids and all the races were there, blacks, whites, Mexican, Asian and some I can't even call. The place was clean and kept up everything was beautiful. The neighbors were hello how are you and what a beautiful day. But over the years it went from a four star to a - four star. First they move all the whites to a secluded area for they kept nicely and the rest of the area went to shit. The places suck. I was late a few hours on my rent one month out of the years I was there and they charged me a hundred dollars LATE FEE WHEN I KNOW THEY CHARCG THE WHITES ONLY $30.00 LATE FEE. I lived at the Mansards for over 7 years and really liked it! The apartment I was in had a window in the kitchen which I loved having so I could let fresh air in when I was cooking, and I liked the way the sun came through the kitchen window in the morning. My neighbors were friendly and the building I was in was very quiet. I also liked that I could see my car from my apartment because you park in front of the building. The laundry room was always clean, and there wasn't much cars driving around my building and there was always parking available. I also liked that the woods were right across from me. The only reason I left was because I bought a house. Great place to live! read more

The Management are liars. They tell you they will work with you if something happens and then they charge you upto $400 in additional fees for one month. Drive by there on Tuesdays and Thursday and see how many people they set out. If your rent is later than the 15 th your are evicted unless you have about $400 extra dollars. When I moved my apartment was clean except for a bag of garbage they lied and said my clean up was over 2000. There are nicer places in Griffith than the Mansards. read more

The grounds are always kept up, my building is always clean, and I get to watch different animals that live around the area like the deer, the ducks and even a beaver! Living here reminds me how far enough I am to feel like I'm living in the country, but yet I am close to Chicago. I get along great with my neighbors, and the building I live in is quiet and the view from my apartment is just great. I also like the number of restaurants around so I can get good food really quick. read more

I have a buddy that lives here. I like the place and he seems to like it. I know that he has been out there for about 10 years, and as far as I know he's not going anywhere. The reason I am even taking the time to write the review is because I am new to yelp and I looked up the Mansards to the get the office number so I can call because we are finally ready to make our move and saw that I could write one. I am an internet fanatic and I'll tell yah what I was suprised at all the stuff that lady put on there. anyway, its not changing my mind, I am calling and trying to get in because I know the place because of him, and I finally have the opportunity to move out there. They have an indoor pool and that is really important to me. I am not much of a tennis player but if you are they have a tennis club right there. I wish there was an option for no stars. This has been the worst experience I have ever had. My spouse and I were lied to from the beginning regarding the apartment, we put our $100 deposit for a two bedroom two full bath apartment that had updated appliances and wood floors. The day we were set to move in they took our apartment that we rightfully paid for and gave it to an employees relative. Then they attempted to charge us more for an apartment that had carpet,old appliances and a bath and 1/2 which was not what we agreed to. They knew we had no other option it was extremely cold and we already moved our belongings out of our old place. We were forced into a dwelling unit. The apartment needed a over 10 repairs the day we moved in and they still have not been fixed. They have an ant problem, nets, bees and hornets nets. I am allergic to bees and hornets i arrived home from work and found my apartment swamped with yellow jacket bees and hornets we immediately called mansards emergency line the maintenance guy came saw the infestation...there nest was located in or near out AC he took my family dollar and recovered the sides of the ac because we had done so prior to his arrival. Days later someone came and left a note stating that they saw no bees. The next day After coming home from work i killed 5 bees....i could not stay in the apartment i paid rent at bc of fear they i may get stung. They have never fixed the problem that family dollar tape and still on the AC and im still killing bees and hornets. Wow, where do I start; 1st off I know that apartment living is going to come with some issues but this place has to be at the absolute top of my list for the worst community that I have lived at in my life. I stayed here for exactly 1 year, I always paid my rent on time, I never caused any issues or complained even though my kitchen (Stove/Refrigerator) and bathroom was dirty and uncleaned on the day that I moved in. My toilet leaked the entire time I lived here (maintenance came twice to try to fix so I just gave up and kept a bucket underneath the toilet bowl), the ceiling in my bedroom leaked during the winter months which caused the ceiling to cave in (By the way it was almost 3-4 months of living with a hole in the ceiling before they came to fix the ceiling & I called them at least 6 times) somehow they kept "forgetting". So I chalked this up to this property must be so big that their maintenance must just be extremely busy/overworked. Then my refrigerator went out, I will admit that they did act on this pretty quick but they brought a fridge that didn't match any of the other appliances in the kitchen and admitted that this was all they had for the moment so for my last 6 months I just lived with this white fridge and everything else old and yellow. Finally, I gave them 90 days notice that I was moving out, I'm so meticulous that I cleaned this place better than it was when I moved in, I went out and purchased paint (Based on the color that the property maintenance told me to get to re-paint the walls because I had painted them a different color when I moved in so I wanted to make sure that I put the walls back to the original color) I cleaned the balcony, the blinds, the ceiling fan the bathroom, the kitchen (Cabinets, light fixtures, refrigerator, stove & oven), I cleaned the carpet and windows and this property had the audacity to send me a bill for over $400!!!! FOR WHAT? They are charging me $300 for painting, but I already painted. At this point, I'm am looking at taking them to small claims court. If anything, I improved this apartment. Finally in closing, they finally cut the tree branches that overlapped onto my balcony; well most of the branches that they cut had landed on my balcony (No one ever came to clean this, I even cleaned this before moving out) Omg, If you are reading this please take what I'm saying here to heart, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT WASTE IT ON THIS PROPERTY.
