Disappointed. I wanted to go somewhere classy for my birthday. I put on a black tie suit and my girlfriend put on a nice dress. On approach the place looks swanky and classy. Valet takes my car and we head inside. Expected 50s/60s "Mad Men" level class and style, however, upon entering the bar we see plenty of people wearing shorts and hawaiian shirts (a.k.a. Casual attire). People dressed as if coming down from their hotel room at a Best Western. The drinks were expensive and very underwhelming. Apparently this place used to be the cream of Dallas but no longer. Overall: Not a classy place anymore. Cocktails are meh. Disappointed. read more

Swank little bar, nice and dark. Happy hour is 3-6p and will get you half off the wine and beer (no cocktail action, sorry)! And the wine can have some steep prices even at the low end, so there's that. :/ We had the cheese plate, which was ok but for $22 didn't especially blow my skirt up. (And even if I weren't having a hot and heavy affair with Scardello, I still found it a little meh.) But there are a number of yummy looking nibbles for $5 each (all the time, not just happy hour) so it is possible to come have a good time here without breaking the bank! read more

The SETTING: Three (3) visits over the last 6 months with GF/friends The VIBE - 5 Stars - Upscale and swanky, no one is casually dressed here! Great live (typically jazz) music on the weekends, HH from 3-6 if you're so inclined, $5 bites (limited menu items) all the time! I love the crowd, the music, the comfortable seating, pretty much everything about it....but you need to be in a certain kind of mood to come here. The SERVICE - 4.5 Stars - The staff is clearly educated about their offerings and taught to accommodate at all costs. Service is fairly quick considering the sheer number of people that seem to fit in this small place. The FOOD - 3.5 Stars - While the food is actually good, I find everything other than the $5 bites overpriced. You might as well go to a swanky Dallas dinner spot and then come here for drinks and music... The COCKTAILS - 4 Stars - Everything I've tried (Mild Sedative, French 75, Old Fashion) has been well made and enjoyable. Although slightly expensive (around $12/cocktail), this seems to be the new Dallas standard and isn't priced out of the market. You are paying partially for the vibe, which I clearly enjoy. The Bottom Line - A great post dinner/charity event/wedding spot with a date or small group of friends dressed up nice for a swanky evening. read more

Power. Class. Dark Wood. Dimly Lit. Countless business deals have been done in this place. The history of it will give you chills while you sip your Aviation. The Mansion Bar is a clubby, old school-type establishment with a great staff and fantastic cocktails. They were doing classic cocktails and Absinthe drips LONG before it caught on in Dallas. The guys mixing you up drinks at The Cedars Social, The Chesterfield, The Rattlensake Bar and Bolsa to name a few, were all Mansion Bar alums. I usually come here during off-peak times AKA not on weekend nights, so it can be very quiet when there is no business. In fact, it's like a library in there, and I feel like I have to whisper "Can I get my check?" to the bartender. On the weekends when there is live music, the place is bustling and very entertaining. Unlike the Ritz-Carlton and Hotel Zaza, which seem to attract a hot mess crowd on the weekends, everyone keeps it classy and things don't get too wild. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from the whole Uptown, flashy, look-at-me, trendy-hot-bar-then-closes-after-6-months scene, couples looking for a romantic night cap, or that great old-school cocktail seeker in you. read more

A while back after having dinner at The Mansion, I decided to check out the bar since I could hear live music going on. It ended up being a small bar with a cool atmosphere. The setting is dark and mysterious, yet warm and inviting. The crowd seemed to be in their 40's-50's on the night that I went, which was a Thursday. The live music of the night was really good and the service was on par. Our server continued to check on us, while making sure our glasses were never empty. On the way out, I ended up seeing DL Hughley walk by. I guess he was in town for a show and decided to stay at the hotel. I think it's a great place for a date night! read more

The place is fun for old crowds over 60s. Live music pop and rock and roll. Ambience is sexy, flirting, mostly couples and groups of lifetime friends. Is very small, just a few tables to seat. The bar is pretty decent and the bar tender super nice. My husband and I had a good time and was funny see all grandpas having a blast with one or few hot mammas. Super laid back atmosphere. Stopped by Sat. night after dinner at another restaurant, wanted to see the live music they have on the weekend. Ordered a French 75 and a Stella. The waitress took good care of us. It's a lovely spot, very cozy and romantic. Ambiance, music and great service warrant the three and a half stars. My drink was disappointing, I had to send it back, they made it with gin, lime juice and champagne, there was a distinct lack of simple syrup and it was made with lime, instead of lemon. I would think an bar like this would get a classic drink down properly. Even when remade it failed to impress. Oh well, maybe something simpler next time. read more

Old numb management gone and bar stools are back at the bar as well as food. Hopefully Mansion management has learned from the number of regulars $$$$ they lost. Same great bartenders and the live music on Friday and Saturday night is excellent except for the one group that plays more than any other under various names to disguise that it is the same group you heard last night and last weekend and the weekend before. Great place to get some craft cocktails, moderately priced ($12-$16). Live music when I went was just ok. The crowd probably varies due to being attached to the hotel, but on this Saturday night---it was older, wealthy crowd mixed with a few locals. Plenty of older men to buy the younger ladies drinks; along with a few young girls who seemed pleased to receive attention of the guests. Terrible dancing as the night drew on and many people were overserved---picture wedding reception dancing. Great people watching, but there are more happening places nearby for sure. read more

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. I've loved this place for years. The jazz bands on Saturday nights, always a beautiful wedding on the weekends, romantic setting and grounds, grab a great meal in the restaurant, and even stay the night in one of the elegant rooms. Sounds wonderful, right? Until a recent Saturday evening. I arrived at the bar at midnightish. The band just exited and no other music was put on. The room was full and they continued to serve for two hours without any tunes. The lights went bright, then dark. Ok, whatever. Inconvenienced but still hanging. Here's where it gets hairy.. My vodka martini shows up with a slight whiskey flavor. That's a no no, bartender. My date ordered one of their cocktails from the menu. Wasn't impressed. Then we ordered one appetizer. When it was delivered, they brought two appetizers and said that the serving wasn't large enough for one to share. And charged us for it. We never said anything about this at the time but I didn't order two. And to make assumptions that I'm willing to pay for what you think I need is presumptuous. We also waited 60 minutes for our food. I was about to leave just thinking it was forgotten when it finally showed. Furthermore, the waiter was calling us "dude". I'm in a classy establishment ordering expensive drinks. My outfit costs more than this guy made last year and he's acting like a frat boy. C'mon, management! Fix this, please. Your reputation too valuable and prices to high to exhibit such sloppiness. read more

Don't go if you're a claustrophobic person. Very unpleasant experience with the low ceiling and the number of people they let in. The place can't even handle half of this crowd. It's shoulder to shoulder and that's can be fun next in big night clubs but not in a tiny bars like this. read more

I wound rate this place much higher but the entry way was so boring for when you drove in, poorly lit and with bad bulbs. They much have changed from their previous folks. Well it made a difference. With light out, most of them, it proves your don't care about your aesthetics. Someone mentioned Lentz and someone mentioned Watson. This is my new favorite bar! The bartender is so nice and he makes EXCELLENT drinks! Don't be fooled by the other reviews about drink prices being so high. It's worth every penny because the drinks are outstanding. I usually get a dirty martini to start and then graduate to the Rosemary Pimm's Cup. The bar is cozy and the lighting is perfect. Don't leave without going outside and lounging on the patio. I could spend hours out there just soaking up the great music and atmosphere. We went to see Hunter Sullivan perform last night. I used to frequent this bar alot but hadn't been in awhile and I should be punished for not doing so. The place is as lovely as ever, you feel a sense of comfort in the cozy little place. The staff is top-notch the wait staff so friendly and engaging. We had stingers and a dirty martini and were impressed with both. Our nosh of the evening was thegoat cheese and olive plate. It was a large portion and we were both filled up with some left over and did I mention it was yummy? Well it was. Again a great place to listen to great music even if it can be a tad too loud at times. It gets crowded butits a great place to people watch and see the crowd change as the hours flow by to the jazzy tunes. The Mansion Bar is our go to place when where out and about with no real place in mind. Hunter S. is usually playing his Jazz. We somehow score a cozy little corner table and kick back hoping to see someone we know. It's a little on the pricey side when you compare it to other bars, but the music, service and ambiance make this a worth while stop. One of the prettiest bars in Dallas. It's also perhaps one of the oldest in the area (the hotel is actually a newer addition). The building has a beautiful, old wold charm. Very nice bar located inside the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. I was with a group of 6 and we arrived around 11pm, the manager greeted us outside the door and informed us the bar was full (no seating) however there was room out on the patio. The Mansion Bar at the Rosewood Mansion Hotel on Turtle Creek Boulevard is a great place for event entertainment, cocktails, dancing, and to meet and watch some very interesting people! This dark, cozy lounge offers some great entertainment on the weekends at 9 PM with open seating, no cover charge and valet parking. Located just inside and to the right of the restaurant, you will find a very busy, but fun gathering place with live entertainment on select nights. Check out the website for dates and a list of the talent scheduled. We were recently at the bar on Friday, January 20th as part of our 15th wedding anniversary celebration and did we ever have fun! Hunter Sullivan and band provided some great jazz and modern tunes, along with audience requests. When we first arrived, it didn't look as if we would find a seat, but it wasn't long before some guests moved on and we were set. Several cocktails later.... it was 1 AM and we had had more fun than we can last remember!!! We met several interesting couples who were guests of the hotel and the general manager - who is very colorful and much a part of the entertainment. He makes a great attempt to sing a few songs with the band, but let's just say...... "don't give up the day job!" But, he's a friendly guy and lots of fun. So, if you're a local like us - this is a great place to check out. Everyone is having fun and no one is bashful about dancing or singing along. You'll see young and old at this gig and dressy to casual - but I say.... put that little cocktail dress and those stilettos on and come have some fun at this beautiful luxury hotel. It is a great evening out that you won't soon forget! We ended our lovely evening and anniversary celebration with champagne and a toast with my favorite Russian proverb.... We visit this bar often, and I have to say it is one of our favorite places in Dallas to go sit down and enjoy some well-made drinks. We went in the other night and I was unsure of what to order at first. The cocktail waitress skillfully described 3 drinks she thought I might like, saving the one she thought I would order for last, and I have to say she was right. I was in the mood for something not terribly sweet, but not terribly strong either, and she guided me to a drink with champagne and amaretto, with a few other mild flavors, over crushed ice. It was exactly what I wanted. I appreciated how knowledgable our waitress was. This is also one of few places in Dallas that will serve crown (and water) the proper way--with one big ice cube floating in the center. We also really enjoyed the jazz band, they did a really nice job playing crowd favorites that were both entertaining and relaxing to listen to. The bar is so loud now that it is impossible to have a conversation with anyone with you, let alone strike a conversation with people around you. Also the valet parking started to get on my nerves.
