The Marq was one of our first stops when we arrived in Chicago. We sat down for a quick bite to eat. After eyeing everything on the menu and wanting one of each dish, my better half and I ultimately chose to split the mac & cheese. Our table shared the fried pickles, and we ordered a few local beers. The service was phenomenal and the food hit the spot. The best music and great food! Came here for a casual and fun dinner with friends, and we were just blown away by every dish. This restaurant was very nicely decorated. My boyfriend and I went for lunch on a weekday. The service was good and the food was pretty good too. It just wasn't, at least for me, remarkable. My boyfriend ordered the ribs and mash potatoes, and he seemed to enjoy it. I don't eat pork so I didn't try his ribs, but the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. The ciabatta with the honey whipped ricotta was a bit too simple for my taste, as it lacked the flavor for the price. However, the sticky ribs made up for them. It was described on the menu as "sweet & spicy fall off the bone deliciousness," and while the sweetness and fall off the bone were there, there was no spice. Nonetheless, the meat was tender enough, and it was an enjoyable rack of ribs. I think the other reviews may overhype it a bit, so order at your discretion. The mashed potatoes on the side were average, and the Brussel sprouts with the bacon bits on top were a bit too oily. Stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch with my fiance. Very cool place to stop in for a cocktail or bite to eat. Has a casual yet kinda upscale vibe to it. It was a little busy with people grabbing lunch when we came in, however we were sat right away. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I had the Vegan BBQ Sandwich, I have been wanting to try something like this for a long time, and it did not disappoint! I have not had "pulled pork" in years, and this was pretty darn close for me. A quick 5 min walk and easy to get a table on Yelp. Now, after work, looking for a good meal and a great screen for the game. THIS IS THE PLACE. The bar was on point. Lots of bustle clear people come to connect. The screen was HUGE and there were a couple. All focused on the cubs, which is how it should be in Chicago. I had the burger, it was perfect. Enjoyed lunch at this place last weekend. We were immediately seated outside and brought water. The food was great! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad, both delicious. My boyfriend had the burgers and fries, also very good especially since they make their own pickles. The beer selection was pretty vast and had a lot of local beers which I really liked! It was a quick lunch for us so we were in and out within 30 minutes, however I do think our waitress could've paid a little bit more attention to us, but since we are younger I know that we don't always get the best attention. Really good bar and restaurant a few blocks from the Chicago Theater. I dined here on a Friday night and the place was packed with folks from happy hour and at the tables. I imagine this being an awesome spot to stop at after work. Service was excellent. The table split fried pickles and then I decided to order the beet salad and Marq slider. I was a little disappointed in the salad, but the slider was fantastic. That's what I get for trying to be healthy. I'd suggest doubling down and going for the Marq burger. read more

I chose this place due to the reviews. But I found it rather meh. Had the Marq burger with fries. It was ok just a bit too soggy for me. The fries were ok although fries are not my thing. But they were there so I ate a few. The service was spotty. Was provided with water that lacked ice and was tepid (I've noticed that in the loop restaurants ice is a scarcity). Food came out fairly quickly but there were no utensils or condiments, not even salt at the table. Almost had to get up and get it myself from the kitchen. I got lucky when the food came cause I got a new server and he was on top of the game (the other two first ones disappeared into that black hole where servers sometimes tend to go and are never seen again). All in all I can't really complain (and I didn't). I had an ok burger. read more

Had a great experience here on a Sat Eve after the Blues Fest. Waitress was fantastic. Very friendly & accommodating. Real comfortable upscale atmosphere. Awesome beer list & decent wine list. Went here for my birthday pre-Hamilton. Perfect location for the show and the food was incredible. We stopped here for a business lunch as it was close to the federal buildings in the Loop. Our experience was mixed: mac and cheese was a hit with the group. However the Intern sandwich was less so. The sliced beef was okay but it was plopped on what was called a torpedo roll. The huge mound of bread overwhelmed the filling and was just disappointing. Service was spot on but unremarkable. I typically don't go for Oregon wines but this one I must admit was better than I expected. I also had the salad and soup, which actually has pieces of chicken. Asian fusion, and house prepared hot sauce, served with an eye dropper - all pants and no trousers. For the main course we had the duck - too spicy, spoilt the duck which was good! the tortellini - fabulous, but short measured, bolstered by the sprouts. And they were just right. We also had the Marq burger - too dry, and the Marq 2, geat and tasteful, but the fries were sad...come on, put some imagination on the fries. My local pubs serves truffle fries. Well worth going for all the good things they are doing. And the wine list is pretty good, go for the house pours, especially the Cab and the Malbec. I LOVE this place. The ambiance us great and the staff are so attentive and friendly. Been here a couple times with friends and we've never had any issues. The food is delicious. The honey whipped ricotta is what dreams are made of for anyone who loves cheese as much as I do. I've gotten the tagliatelle and burger before and they were equally as delicious. My friends swear by the short ribs, so that's next on my list of items to try. Great cocktail choices as well! Really growing to love this. My Marq dinner ordered burger and Belgium white wheat beer. The front desk girl Kathryn was quite friendly and sweet. She gave a lots of tips of visiting surrounding at actives. I was able to sit on the sidewalk seat and enjoyed the weather. The food is good as a standard American style dinner. The whole corner area smelled like alcohols spilled in street, lovely. Wow that ricotta dip is as good as they say it is- do not miss this! Got her at 11:30 and was able to sit easily, the lunch rush is clearly from 12-1. Had the ribs, which were decadent- sweet honey sauce, perfect texture combo of crispy and fatty- all parts of meat were edible. The sides were straight-up gross, the potato salad was dill and mustard/mayo over potato slices (CLEVER WOW) and the slaw had one ingredient. Also had the steak salad- the light citrus dressing got mixed reviews, but the steak was very good. Had almost too much fresh avocado, really flavorful cucumber, and the cotijo cheese was a great addition. I would come back everyday of my life for the ricotta honey dip (and the perfect soft toasted bread that comes with it). They do meat and sweet well here. read more

Came here with a group after a lecture. It was easy to get a seat as there are plenty of large tables. From the outside it looks like this would be an older, fussier bar but I was pleasantly surprised: the interior is modern, clean, and up-to-date. One can tell a lot about a restaurant by the quality of the restrooms, and I will say that the ladies room was well kept. I enjoyed my glass of sauvignon blanc. We selected this restaurant based on the Yelp rating but have been extremely disappointed. It took over 40 minutes to get our drink order...maybe they needed to stomp some grapes or something. We only ordered appetizers and our neighbors who were seated at least a half hour before us never got their food. Apparently the kitchen was backed up and they aren't used to this level of business. At any rate, only giving 1 star because giving 0 stars is not an option! Hopefully we can get some popcorn at the show. read more
