My family visited Maui earlier this month and had the pleasure of taking 2 Ukulele / guitar lessons with Wayne in Kihei. My experience with Wayne was amazing, he is such a great human being, patient, talented and generous with his time. We spent a good amount of time during both our sessions, talking and playing Ukulele / guitar right in front of the beach under some nice shaded trees...the experience was really memorable. Wayne also let me rent his guitar for a few weeks which was so nice and was able to take the information from our lessons and apply it daily while enjoying my vacation on the island. We were looking to purchase a ukelele as a Christmas gift for our teenaged son, and he is a music teacher - we misunderstood the name of his company. Wayne is such a great guy! I just started learning guitar when I took an eight day trip to Maui, missing two lessons back home. Basically, that means by the time I would have gone back to my regular guitar lessons I would have been lagging behind all the other students, sounding like I was playing on rusty strings. I called Wayne to see if he could help me out and rent me a guitar so I could keep practicing while on vacation. The man freaking delivered! We were in Maui for a month and had the chance to take Ukulele lessons from Wayne. We were so happy to find him! He is gentle and kind with children and masterfully weaves his love of music into his teaching. My children were excited to practice and curious to learn more about the beautiful Ukulele because of his unique approach to teaching. I extensively searched the San Francisco Bay area for a Slack Key teacher and was disappointed with the results. Wayne suggested lessons by Skype and it actually works! While I'd really rather "hang with Wayne" and learn from him in person on Maui, somehow, he is able to make the lessons equally as effective via Skype, despite the distance. Regardless of your level of musical expertise (or lack of) I assure you, Wayne has a lot to offer to you in experiencing a unique way of learning to play an instrument- and to relish the results. read more
