Shortly after moving into the home, we discovered extensive concealed material defects that have ultimately cost us over $100,000 in repairs. We found black mold in the basement that appeared to have been deliberately hidden through fresh paint and the removal of carpeting. We also uncovered severe water damage stemming from a second-story balcony, which caused significant structural deterioration in the primary bedroom. The damage was so extensive that we had to completely remove the balcony and replace the rim joist and other structural framing that had rotted away. Much of this damage had been concealed with new trim, siding, and other cosmetic updates designed to mask the underlying problems. We also found newly installed trim covering rotten sheathing, with no building wrap behind it. To make matters worse, when our inspector identified several issues that had not been successfully concealed, Nancy Jenkins' team recommended that we obtain repair estimates from the homeowner's personal contractor, stating that they trusted him. We later discovered that this same contractor had performed much of the work used to hide the defects and provided estimates that dramatically understated the true cost of the repairs. We relocated from Colorado and put our trust in the professionals involved in this transaction. Instead, we inherited a home with extensive hidden damage and an overwhelming financial burden. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Nancy Jenkins Real Estate. We found the level of transparency and ethics throughout this transaction deeply disappointing. If zero stars were an option, that is the rating I would give.
