Check in was easy ,friendly stay, but this is 3.5 stars hotel. For the fact of the property hasn't been renovated with updated amenities. There's plenty of parking spaces, only one elevator, the key card reader didn't work exit only door(s). no Jacuzzi hot-tub however they do have cabana bar pool area. Entered a small clean 3rd floor lake-view room, the comfortable bed, stink of old smell, discovered a nonfunctional refrigerate but Brian brought a new one and apologized about the inconvenience and the room didn't have a no microwave. Good food in the Room service Restaurant and due to the lakeside view bugs will flood the room after sunset late night. Overall, The McCormick Scottsdale has the potential of being a 4 or 5 star type of hotel. Especially, because of the conference seating, wedding revue, kayaking, and locations and lakeside review. read more

Clean the rooms. Run the water once in a while. When I first ran the water in the sink it initially ran brown for the first 3-5 seconds. I'm honestly beyond surprised that I would find someone else's hair on anything, let alone in the shower, and so glaringly obvious as when you first look into the shower. Yet, there it was. Clear as day dark hair, contrasted to the stark white bottle of shampoo or conditioner. The bottles themselves are clearly not wiped down because they are tacky/sticky from product build up. There was a layer of dust build up on the Kleenex caddy and on the undercarriage of the sink. I'm surprised there haven't been updates to the interior of the hotel such that the carpet when you walk down the hall doesn't bubble and pucker in places. I was also taken aback to discover there were no glasses in my room and I only had the paper cups for the coffee to use. I was surprised the bed was comfortable and surprised the bottles of water in the room were free, so those were good surprises. I reserved the room on the 12th & by accident booked 2 rooms & within seconds realized my mistake. I cancelled one of the rooms because the cancellation policy says:" CANCELLATION POLICY Free Cancellation* Cancel your booking by 12 pm local hotel time 3 days prior to arrival to avoid a 1 night(s) cancel penalty charge." Also, my email confirmation said "NO ONLINE PAYMENT TAKEN". On the 13th, my card was charged for my one room I reserved which wasn't an issue because I had one room still. On the 19th, I was charged a second time. When I called today about it, Stephon explained to me that this was because I booked my two rooms & it was non-refundable but because I am a Millennium member, was allowed to cancel & cancelled within a short time, the cancellation was allowed. The refund would be 3-5 days. When I read to him the information from the confirmation email, he said he didn't know because that didn't come from anyone there at reservations but the refund would be there in 3-5 days. I'm honestly flummoxed as to the conflicting information. Why would the confirmation email say "no online payment taken" but then I'm charged? If cancellations are permissible & no payment was taken, why was there a charge at all? For the location of this establishment and the price, I expected more. I expected a more updated interior and to not see such sad, drab, old, & buckling carpets or colors with chopping paint. I didn't expect to see outdated CO2 & fire alarm equipment or AC equipment in the rooms. The bed was comfortable, free parking, no WiFi fee, & free water, which are big things, but overall I was disappointed. I had an overall good stay here. From the moment we arrived, I felt very safe, which is always a big plus for me. Our flight was delayed twice and we ended up getting in very late Friday night, but the front desk staff was incredibly gracious and stayed to accommodate us--really appreciated that. The first night was smooth and comfortable. However, the room itself didn't quite match the expectations from the photos--it gave more of a basic, motel-style feel than what we anticipated. The next morning at breakfast, we had a bit of a disappointing experience. The restaurant wasn't busy, but the waitress came off a bit rude and unwelcoming. It wasn't clear whether we should seat ourselves or wait, and her approach made it slightly uncomfortable. Also, the mocha machine was broken. That said, the food itself was actually really good. On Sunday night, we ran into another issue where the water turned extremely cold while showering, which was frustrating. Overall, the hotel has some strong positives--safe environment, helpful front desk staff, and a convenient location (especially if you're attending events nearby). However, there are a few areas that could definitely be improved. Would I stay here again? Probably not--but I do appreciate the hospitality and effort from the staff during our stay. read more

Upon entering the establishment, the staff exhibited unprofessional behavior by inquiring about my reservation. I requested early check-in. Upon arrival, they denied my reservation and instructed me to check in later. I was extremely fatigued after driving for hours and staying up for hours as well. During my attempt to dine at their restaurant, the staff consistently ignored me and my son. Despite my repeated requests for breakfast and dinner, I was subjected to a 15-20 minute wait without any refreshments or menu offerings. This lack of attention, coupled with the fact that the staff acknowledged only white individuals, led me to believe that my race was being overlooked. Really unfortunate stay and experience here! So bummed because years back it was such a good little getaway. Upon arrival there was a pretty awful sewer smell that lingered throughout the hotel and our room for the entirety of our stay. Honestly plumbing issues and stuff happens so we stayed. Our room which was explained to us as two queens happened to be a full bed and a queen bed on a full bed frame. This made for a sleepless night and the mattresses were uncomfortable in general. Bummer. Biggest ick? The roach crawling around our things come morning. We made sure to keep luggage up off the floor too, kept the room clean etc. I chatted with the front desk and they sent someone over pretty quickly with spray but we were ready to leave asap. Upon checkout the manager was there to ask about our stay which led me to believe this is probably a common occurrence. He was nice and said he would comp us but I haven't seen any sort of refund so that's just a bummer. read more

Motel 6? This place has a very unique vibe....but....what can you expect? It was $50ish/night. A lot of dog owners were here. You could definitely smell weed. Watch your back when going to the car, slightly sketchy. But all in all, no real issues. If you're with the boys, perfect cheap place to bunker down after a hot round of golf. The pool is slightly warm but very therapeutic so your next tee time, you can play refreshed! The accommodation aren't high end in any stretch of the imagination. We heard two other separate hotel guests complain about their booking as well. One lady was complaining about ants in her bed... the hotel staff was so rude toward her it was appalling. The other was complaining about the pool staff and the general condition. When I tell you, this was the most run down hotel I have ever stayed at, I mean it. AC didnt work, bed bug bites when we left, bathroom door wouldnt even close. The kayak and Pedal Boats were gross and no one keeping up with it. Just gross and bad. AVOID. read more

Met with the horror, dim lit, dingy hallways of a $440 (after fees) per night hotel. The rates did not reflect the quality or amenities of the hotel either. It should be a motel 6, but that might be an insult to motel 6. The springs in the bed cut into your back, and you're able to feel every one of them. Simultaneously, the AC makes extremely loud noises throughout the night that will wake you up- if you're even able to sleep on the raw springs. The unsanitary and unkept conditions linger in every corner of the room. All you can think is "when can I leave?". One night in those beds was enough to need a deep tissue massage. To add, the male at the front desk either hates his job, hates everyone, or both. He was the most rude arrogant person we've ever encountered at any Scottsdale established. All in all- nightmare. Scottsdale is filled with many high end hotels that are in the same budget (Omni). Avoid at all costs. read more

We are giving the McCormick Scottsdale a five star review because of one employee in particular; thank you, Rebecca. My partner and I were looking forward to an exciting weekend of spring training baseball. However, it rained the first day we were here and we were secluded to the hotel for a much needed nap. I'm a light sleeper and the music from the pool speaker by our room was to put it lightly menacing. Rebecca saved our stay and ultimately enhanced our entire Scottsdale experience. With her help we moved to a different room far from the music into what we can only describe as honeymoon level perfect. Just the view alone of the lake was grand and serene. Rebecca continued to check in with us when we passed the front desk too. Thank you McCormick and definitely the most thanks to Rebecca from her wonderful front desk service. read more

We had a wonderful time at the McCormick. The setting was beautiful right on the lake with a view of the mountains & golf course. Ethan at the front desk gave us exceptional service. The rooms were a bit dated but the suite had a nice roomie layout and great views. The $30/day resort fee to cover the kayaks, bikes, games, internet was a bit steep. Irma at the restaurant & bar was friendly and accommodating. The braised short rib dinner was exceptional! Highly recommend it. We were really surprised because we weren't expecting such great food at a hotel restaurant. Over all a good time was had by all, just don't have high expectations and you'll have a lovely time. read more

This is a nice resort, on a lake, with a beautiful salt-water pool. All in all, we found it ok, with some great features and some annoying aspects. The pool and bar and staff are all excellent. The restaurant was mediocre, though the service was great. Frozen mass-produced crab cakes, guacamole and salsa from a jar, etc. The room was frankly pretty noisy, the air conditioning sounded like a cheap motel, and the doors let a lot of sound through from both our neighbors and people in the hallway outside. Wifi requires signing up for and registering for a service. Even though it was free, I was unwilling to sign up for anything. Beds were comfortable, the plumbing is ok, and the decor is pleasant but very bland. I might come back to get a day pass for the pool, but I'm not inclined to stay there again for $150 per night. read more

BEWARE OF HIDDEN FEES. SHADY BUSINESS LEFT FEELING SCAMMED. I'M ONLY GIVING THIS 5 STARS SO YOU CAN SEE IT. My wife and I stayed here for a few nights on a road trip. I've always booked hotels through capital one and always prepay for my hotel. At checkout we were charged $34 PER NIGHT in "resort fees". The front desk employee was nice enough and I understand she was just doing her job. She told me that I should have seen some notice when I booked stating resort fees would be due, but I do not remember this at all. I simply would not have stayed if I knew it would be $34 more per night. Even if she is right, and I overlooked the notice, why hide flat fees in the fine print? This is a sleazy business practice, likely to make their prices look more competitive at the point of booking. It is not like you need to do anything special for the charges either, the resort fees are added indiscriminately to all. I still don't quite understand what the "resort fees" cover. The only thing I can think of is potentially the pool? Maybe because they will let you borrow kayaks for the lake? At any other place the fee would just be part of the price or they would potentially charge for the kayaks. Besides, we did not use either of those things. Spent $25 at the bar on just 1 beer and 1 aperol spritz. Not sure why the hotel bar has ballpark prices except that management is nickel and dining all it's guests. However, the bartender was very kind to us. With that said, the room was actually nice and I also found it to be in a good location. Plenty of parking and no safety concerns. I cannot say enough about this hidden gem!! We live right next to it and somehow I never knew this was here!! We will most definitely be back! The service was phenomenal mainly from the front desk staff. Wedley was fantastic along with the whole team. We went on the paddle boats and ate dinner at the restaurant for my husband bday. We watched the sunset on the hammocks and drank wine and the view is incredible. The prices are so affordable for all that you get. Our family was with us the next day and we played all the fun games at the pool and drank and ate and swam with the kids. It was a blast! Five stars for sure!! read more

Let's start with the 7:00 a.m. TEXTS! Who does this??? 2 days in a row! Geez. What were these urgent A.M. texts, you ask? Reminders to check in early online... which did NOT work, by the way (the online check-in process, that is). One young gentleman was polite and friendly at check in. We were excited for a pool, lake, or mountain view. Nope. Our view was an alley/walkway... No chairs or table on our patio, so we couldn't even sit out there. Only one sitting chair in our room (won by me over a quarter toss). The hubs had to sit in the office chair. (BTW, our friends in another room had patio furniture, but it didn't match and was damaged. see pic) I feel like I walked into the lobby of this hotel and there was so much promise! And as my photos show, there is some nice furniture and elements in our room. But I feel like my overall "resort experience" was lacking. For the price (and all the taxes and extras = $$$), I felt like I should have gotten A LOT more :-\ CONS: 1 - NO PATIO CHAIRS are included with a Patio Room :-( (Doesn't seem right...) I did call and ask if we could borrow chairs from somewhere, but was told all their available chairs were already being used. 2 - An ice cream freezer in the snack shop with no ice cream :-( (Explain that to your hubby who thinks he's 12). 3 - The bar at the pool was never open :-( (There was a nice gentleman out there straightening chairs and keeping things clean - I sure wish he could have served wine, soda, water, anything). 4 - RUDE maids :-( They don't move their carts - even as you're struggling with your luggage to get past them and ducking under their brooms! They ignored us completely and weren't welcoming or accommodating. PLUS, they play music REALLY LOUD on their carts early in the morning and it echoes down hallways! Um, thanks for waking me up on vacation :-( 5 - The "heated" pool is most definitely NOT 85 degrees. Pretty much every one of us around the pool thought 70-72 degrees. (Chilly!!) At one point there were 40 people around the pool, including children, and not one person went into the pool. 6 - One gentleman at the front desk (not the one mentioned in PROS) was pretty combative and rude when we asked about paddles for the canoe. Why so angry? 7 - We did find horseshoes... but no horseshoe pit. Huh? PROS: 1- Great front desk gentleman (longer hair) checking in. 2 - Great restaurant wait staff (Hello, Rick and Irma). 3 - Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats for the lake are included. 4 - Good pillows and a bouncy, soft mattress. Sadly, the McCormick did NOT impress us enough for us to return. Bye, bye ;-) If you're looking for a HEATED pool, a patio you can sit out on and enjoy, and comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy TV in - this is NOT the hotel for you. read more

A little dated, but the rooms are large and spacious with a mini-fridge so I can't complain. They also seem to have a heated pool and free self-parking lot. There are a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. I think there's also an in-house restaurant, Piñon Grill, that's decently reviewed. I found the service to be good and friendly. We called the front desk for a wine opener and someone was at our door in about 10 minutes. The only negative is the daily $25 resort free that is annoying. Fortunately I was only there for a night, so it didn't add up. read more

The pool is being renovated in the summer. You have to drive 2 miles away to use another property's pool. When I complained about it they cancelled my reservation and refused my stay! Rude doesn't begin to explain the one head staff desk clerk. My wife and kids and to find other accommodations. This place needs to go under. Extremely disappointed. Not only did our room smell like weed when we walked in we had to listen to the people next to us having sex all night. Do not go here if you have kids. This is not the place! We let the front desk know what was going on and they did nothing. Why would I want to have my kids in a room that stinks of weed? How is this ok? We stayed a couple of nights for staycation, celebrating our anniversary. The front desk lady was nice and even gave us champagne as a gift. The room itself was clean, with parts of it renovated. It has amazing views of the lake as well! Unfortunately, that's about all that was good. Most of the room/furniture was outdated, including TVs from the early 2000s. The entire hotel is run down - elevator was a little sketchy, carpeting was from decades ago, and everything else was just old. There's only one elevator and since we had a suite facing the lake at the very end of the hotel, we had to walk the entire hotel hallway to get to our room. We were awaken late at night by loud noises from other guests for the 2 nights that we stayed and by the geese early in the morning. Needless to say, the walls are thin. Overall, you come here for the view. At ~$200 a night, I think that is what you pay for because everything else seems to be sub par. We will not be back but I'm glad we at least tried it. read more

When we checked in, the Front Desk clerk was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was nice, loved the setting by the pond. Very much enjoyed watching the birds while sitting on the patio. The problem is with the billing. Two charges appeared on my cc that weren't made by me. I immediately rang the hotel, but could only leave voice mails with every department, Accounting's mailbox was full. I left messages and rang back several times through-out the day, but only got voicemails. Left a message on their FB page, sent an email to their corporate office. After several days, my only option was to dispute the charge with my cc company. When we first arrived, we decided that this would always be the hotel we would stay while in Scottsdale, but we now will not be returning. read more

This hotel needs to be renovated! They are extremely disorganized and under-staffed. I left gift bags at the front desk for a wedding party and gave them a list of people to give them to. They did not alert all check-in personnel and as a result, quite a number of guests did not receive their bags. I advised one check-in man (he wouldn't tell us his name) that a number of guests weren't being given their bags. He said no one told him about the bags. He was horribly rude and yelled at me!! My daughter's room was full of bugs. They came quickly to fumigate but room smelled horrible for hours and it was night before her wedding. She asked if someone could vacuum up the bugs but no housekeeping until the morning. They did agree to send housekeeping to her room by 8 am before the wedding prep begins. A number of guests had non-working TVs. From the halls, you can hear everything in the rooms! The food in restaurant was very good - but the waiter kept disappearing so service was just fair. The only bright spot was the pool and pool bar. The bar man is so nice and friendly. However, due to the problems, I definitely do NOT recommend this hotel. read more

For this being considered a "resort" I don't think it was worth the extra fee. I wouldn't pay more than $150/night for this place. It was nice enough but it was nice as a regular hotel not a "resort". There is no jacuzzi, just the pool. The lake area was nice and kept clean. The area in general is very nice and the location was ideal for what we needed at the time. The rooms were nice, they have a mini fridge. Minus the resort fee I would stay here again. read more

Decided to stay here for a little staycation and was very delighted when we arrived. We arrived late afternoon and the front desk was very helpful and fast to get us to our rooms which was great , they did make sure are rooms were adjoining like requested so always a good sign when everything is as it should be. Now the hotel is a little older inside which is only really noticeable in the hallways . As for the property the outside is really nice and the rooms were comfortable and seem to have been updated and very clean. As for the views they were amazing , we had a view overlooking the pool and lake as well as the mountains can't ask for much more than that. Overall I would definitely stay here again if in the area again definitely an overall great experience. read more

The staff is lovely and the rooms are clean, but the facility itself is poor. Definitely not worth the $250 per night (plus a resort fee) they charge. This hotel had the thinnest walls I've ever experienced. I could hear a conversation - a couple speaking in normal voices - in the next room as if it was in my room. They also had a dog that barked all day. The enamel in the bathtub was super chipped / scuffed up, and the shower never got hotter than lukewarm. I believe they advertise a free shuttle anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel, but even in the middle of the day on a weekday there was a long wait. read more

Looks better online than in person! My husband and I treated ourselves to a one night staycation for July 6. We got a basic king room which was a rate of $96 but add all of the lovely fees... jumped up to closer to $150! We don't utilize hotel amenities so for us, the resort fees are a complete joke. We got to the property maybe around 12/12:15 pm. We were told our room was ready, but it would be a $50 early check-in fee. We smiled and said we would come by later (because why would I pay about half of the original room rate just to have a few extra hours in the room?). We ended up finding something to do to waste time and by 12:45, we got a call from the same guy at the front desk saying we could have our room for no extra fee.... I really wish that could have been offered before we got back into the hot Arizona heat to drive elsewhere! We got back to the hotel, got to our second floor room. It was clean but just beware the entire property has a very outdated feel to it. The doors to the rooms (at least for ours) do not close automatically like most hotel doors do, so use caution to ensure it's closing and locking! This room was fine for a night but again, I don't see us choosing this property ever again even for a night away while in town. read more

This hotel masquerades itself as a resort, but it's nothing more than an expensive motel. In general it's very outdated. When you first drive in, you'll be greeted by a run down parking lot that needs to be re-asphalted. The front doors don't even open automatically (not convenient if you have bags in your hands). The front desk staff isn't necessarily welcoming. I got the vibe that they don't like their jobs or don't like to be inconvenienced with questions pertaining to one's stay. The rooms are not only outdated, but lack some basic needs. My room lacked a microwave, hairdryer and only had one uncomfortable desk chair (problematic if more than two people are staying in room). My bathroom also had a partially cracked mirror and paint splatter over the tub. I was provided with one very small soap bar, shampoo, conditioner, lotion (would be nice if at minimum two soap bars placed in room before arrival). The room also has paper thin walls (mine actually had back to back doors that allow one access to the next door room if both unlocked). I could hear regular voiced conversations next door and in hallway. Probably the most disappointing part is a daily resort fee of $30 (mine was $15 since the pool was closed). You pay this for access to pool, some old bikes and canoes to take out on a small man made pond. It certainly lacks resort vibe or quality. Pretty laughable to even market yourself as a resort. Moreover, breakfast is not included for a price tag of of over $150/night. read more
