By far our favorite hotel in Scottsdale. We stayed the past three days. The room cost was only a couple of hundred bucks a night which was a bargain. 10/10 all around! The hotel is super clean and the grounds are gorgeous. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We stayed in a king room with a pool view on the second floor with a private patio. Location is fantastic with great walkability. The vibe is the hotel is so fun with an updated retro decor which feels like you will run into one of the rat pack on property. Great having two pools- one very quiet and perfect for reading a book and swimming laps, and the other more lively with DJ's and great music on the weekends. We will definitely be back! read more

I've stayed here every couple years for the past 10 years. This last stay would've been great for the price had I never been there before. Pretty sure the "yellow" pool towels are the same ones i was using that long ago, and the cushions for the daybeds are very stained. Service has also gone down hill we drive is friendly but they no longer take that extra step so it's like you're being assisted by someone at a Circle K. It seems to pain the front desk to make something right for a guest. Before my stay i emailed the hotel letting them know why we were staying and if there was anything that could be done to make it extra special, there was no response. I filled out the after stay survey and was emailed a fairly generic response about talking to the individual departments, I'm sure this is not the first time they've heard what I said, so that's clearly not working and to contact the person in the email directly, and i quote "if i decide" to stay with them again but then they didn't provide any direct contact information. It makes me sad that this is the way it is now, this used to be my favorite place. read more

Valley Ho -- Beautiful Hotel, Zero Compassion I never even made it to the Valley Ho. A family emergency forced me to cancel my trip within 24 hours of booking, and the hotel refused to issue any refund on a $500+ stay. Not a partial refund. Not a future credit. Nothing. Yes, I understand non-refundable policies exist. What I don't understand is a hotel that has zero flexibility when a guest is dealing with a genuine family emergency. My booking was made through Capital One Travel, and even with them advocating on my behalf, the hotel wouldn't budge. The airline refunded my ticket without hesitation. The hotel couldn't extend the same basic human decency. I'm sure the Valley Ho is a lovely property. The photos are stunning and the reviews are glowing. But knowing how they treat guests in difficult circumstances, I wouldn't rebook here, and I'd encourage others to think twice before putting down non-refundable money at a place that prioritizes policy over people. read more

We came to Hotel Valley Ho for an overnight staycation for our anniversary and had a really nice stay. The location is perfect to get to anything and everything. When it isn't too hot, you could walk to anywhere you want to go, or take a short uber ride to the restaurants and bars in Old Town or Fashion Square. They had valet parking or self parking for a daily fee. We were going to be coming and going, so we did self parking on the street. The property has a vibe all of its own, like you stepped back in time to old Hollywood or like you landed in Palm Springs somehow. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and everywhere you went, people were just genuinely enjoying themselves. The pools were not too crowded, granted we went midweek and in June, which is what we were looking for. I know this place can really turn it up for the pool parties and DJed evening events though. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The only hiccup really was the tv, in that it has Google Cast (previously Chromecast) and it wouldn't work with our phones for streaming services. We were going to stream Netflix but it was a no go. Reruns of the Office are always a hit anyway. The room had a coffee maker, and a fridge, but it was a mini bar, not one that you could really put things in. There are ice buckets in the room and ice machines available in the hallway if you need to keep something cold. The shower was big and the water pressure was perfect. We went to the ZuZu bar for a little bit and got two delicious drinks. I got the Pear and Citrus Spritz and they are light and not too sweet, but can go down a little too easy. My husband got the Pineapple and Citrus and it had a nice bite from the ginger beer. We are locals but like to go to the different hotels in the area and I can definitely see coming here again and recommending it to others as well. read more

Was here for five nights and was fortunate to get upgraded to one of their Suites overlooking the Oh Pool. The room came with a washer dryer, walk-in closet, walk-in shower, full kitchen, large living area and bedroom with a TV screen that pivots so one could watch it while in bed or the living room. Oh pool which is the main pool was great and being here throughout the week the pool was not crowded. ZuZu restaurant was amazing as we ate there for brunch, lunch and dinner and speaking to locals and returning guests, it is well known for great food at reasonable prices. The downside was that during our stay the Google Chrome was not working and was told that this issue was throughout the property. Valet overnight parking is reasonable at $28 without taxes and the hotel provides unlimited complimentary 16.9 oz bottles of water during your stay. A short walk of approximately 20 minutes will bring you to Old Town followed by the Scottsdale Fashion Center which is comparable to South Coast Plaza in Orange County or Valley Fair in San Jose. Service was great during our stay and room renovations were recently done in 2025 with front of the house continuing throughout the resort. Visited the two lane lap pool but did not use it during our stay. read more

First time at Hotel Valley Ho but hopefully not the last! This place has such a cute retro vibe, it reminded me a lot of Palm Springs. I think you can self park but we chose to valet which was $28 for overnight. We also called about an early check in and they were able to accommodate us about an hour early which was nice. It was a hot day so we appreciated the help from the staff to bring our luggage to our room. Since we had a dog with us, they accommodated us with a spot on the first floor near the courtyard so it was easy to take her in and out from the back patio. So thoughtful! I didn't get to enjoy the food much but I had an espresso martini at the bar that was creamy and delicious. Overall, this was a great stay and I would come back! read more

Had a staycation here in August. We booked one of their larger suites and had an unpleasant experience. Hotel room smelled awful like there was mold somewhere. We traveled with our dogs whose food needs to be refrigerated. They brought two different refrigerations that each froze the food despite adjusting the settings. We ultimately had to leave early and head home to get more food. Also the food at Zuzu was not great. Overall not a great stay and I would not recommend or come back here. read more

Stayed here for a conference and I was throughly impressed by this hotel. Check in was at 4pm but I arrived from the airport at 10am and they were able to get a room ready for me by 12:30pm which I was impressed by. All the common areas of the hotel are beautiful and clean. I arrived on Sunday and the pool is open to non hotel guest for a fee and definitely more lively on the weekends. My room was on the ground floor right by the pool and was pretty loud Sunday night but wasn't too much of a bother. Only issue was that I had trouble locking my patio door but the hotel staff were able to assist with that easily. The room its self was very nice. The bath tub was huge and I liked that it had a separate shower and toilet room. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. I liked all the closet space and that there was a clothes steamer. All the staff were wonderful and friendly. Room service was easy and quick. The fries are amazing! I can't wait to come back here in the future for another conference. read more

My friends and I had a great pool day here yesterday. We used resort pass. The pool day was adults only with a live DJ. It was a fun atmosphere with good music. The drinks were reasonably priced as well as the food. We loved the retro vibe of the hotel. The pool wait staff worked very hard. One downside is that you could only valet ir park on side streets around the hotel. Also the pool towels need some replacing and some of the lounge chairs were broken. Overall great day! read more

Lovely resort/ hotel stay in Old Town Scottsdale... perfectly located with walking distance to explore Scottsdale. Room was spacious, clean and I appreciated the anticipation of amenities (example garment steamer). The pool was closed this time of the year as the area is transformed into a roller rink for the holidays but the hot tub was open and clean with ample towels. The grounds are well cared for with ample citrus trees and well manicured lawns. The hotel is tastefully decorated for the holidays and overall a great vibe. I came to Arizon for my company's division team meeting and was assigned here for our stay. It was a sweet 20 mins drive from the airport and was automatically greeted by some of the staff when I got out of the car. The staff at the front desk were super friendly and helpful for my check in. The room set up is beautiful and I was assigned to the building all the way in the back, which I didn't mind because I figured that would be away from any of the additional noises that I may have. The only thing I didn't like was the curtains how it didn't really close all the way. I had to switch beds in the room because one of the blue lights outside snuck through the curtains and kept hitting my face. We had dinner/cocktail on the roof and it was BEAUTIFUL! Food was great, drinks were refreshing, the servers that had all sorts of hors d'oeuvres were friendly and fantastic. Beautiful scenery, tasty food, and friendly/professional staff. Other than that, everything was fine. I would recommend stopping at the restaurant there because I had their smash burger...and it was REALLY good! The sauce was delicious and presentation was there! I didn't get the chance to take a picture because I was with my new job/boss and I didn't want everyone to "wait" on me LOL. read more

Given we were only there for a resort pass, the staff was incredibly inattentive towards me and my fiancé. I'm not sure the reasoning behind it, but we sat by the pool like everyone else and not a single person served us. We eventually gave up trying to get service at the pool and just had to walk up to the bar. When I ordered at the bar, this woman with a lot of lip filler rudely slammed the drinks I ordered and the tab on the counter. Even after ordering from them, we were refused service even after waving down multiple servers who seemed to just ignore us. We waited by the pool for over 8 hours and were not even asked as much as if we wanted anything. I'm not sure if it's just because we're a young gay couple but we were not treated very kindly at this place. In summary, we were completely ignored by staff, and treated very rudely when we came up and had to do their job for ourselves. read more

We love this hotel. It is one of our favorite staycation hotels in the valley. From the time you walk in you get smiling faces and happy people at the front desk. The lobby looks great smells great. The bar has a great look to it like the rest of the hotel. Bartenders are great and a lot of fun. The party at the Main pool is a blast and after you're tired of that, there is a quiet pool on the other side of the property not very far away. The guest rooms have a great vintage style to them, but still very clean with super cold AC. Breakfast at the restaurant is super. I love the pancakes. I came here for a spa day with a friend and we both had reservations for their Self Care Sunday package which was a 60 minute massage and one mini service of your choice (foot reflexology, facial, full body scrub). They provided complimentary valet parking, and even brought my purse up to the spa when I realized I had left it in my car. The spa itself was very nice, and after checking in we were given lockers which included large cozy robes and slip on rubber sandals. Alexa was very helpful and also helped to get my purse delivered to me from the valet staff. We were both taken back for our appointments pretty quickly. Nyah was my technician and she did an incredible job with my massage and foot reflexology. During the session, there were heated blankets, heated neck warmers and essential oil scents. I felt so relaxed and enjoyed every second of it! When my session was finished, I was given a complimentary glass of champagne and full access to their spa and pool amenities. My friend and I did enjoy a few hours by the pool and ordered from the bar outside. We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole which were delicious and also ordered drinks. I tried the Oh Spritz which was good. This spa did have a sauna, but we didn't go into it. They have a few pools and hot tubs too. I would definitely come back here for their spa services, especially the Self Care Sunday deal, since the services are discounted. read more

I checked out this morning, two days early due to an unexpected death in the family . They were able to credit me for the two unused nights (which they did not have to do). I was an absolute mess, you could see it as soon as you looked at me. We really enjoyed being here! We were in the Rosie room for a three day conference and the room itself is adorable. Zuzu the restaurant has a retro vibe and kind remind me of being at a classy Vegas pool side in the 70's...anyway the style of the restaurant is on point, the service was fabulous and we love the food. I saw quite a few tables of people meeting for special occasions (I was pretty jealous that I didn't get to try any of the desserts)...there's always next time. I was told the pool is pretty fun during summer time, and besides that I'm excited to go back soon. read more

I had an amazing experience from start to finish at Hotel Valley Ho. I called ahead the day before to ask about an early check-in since I was arriving very early. To my surprise, when I showed up at 8:30 a.m., my room was already ready. That alone impressed me, but what really stood out was how friendly and courteous Diana at the front desk was she made the whole process seamless. The hotel itself is stunning. The mid-century modern design is done so well, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. My room was immaculate housekeeping clearly does an excellent job. Bar ZuZu is a fun spot to hang out and people-watch. I didn't eat there much, but I did try the empanadas, which were fantastic. I also have to give credit to one of the staff members I didn't catch his name, but he seemed to be either the bar or pool manager. He was incredibly friendly, always smiling, and seemed to be working long hours without ever losing his positive attitude. The gym is small and a little tight, but it has all the equipment you need for a solid workout. As for the pool, I spent Friday at the main one and loved the vibe upbeat but still relaxed and chill. Saturday was a bit busier, since the pool is open to non-hotel guests for a fee. Personally, I wish it were reserved for hotel guests only, but I understand why they do it. All the staff at the pool were amazing. All in all, my stay was fantastic. I absolutely loved the hotel, can't think of a single real downside, and I plan on coming back very soon. read more

Had a great stay at the Valley Ho this weekend! My husband and I did a staycation for a friend's birthday and had a wonderful experience. The customer service was excellent. After we checked out, my husband realized he had accidentally left his wedding ring in the room. The front desk immediately had someone check, found it, and had it waiting for us when we arrived to pick it up. We were so grateful for their quick response. My New Favorite Hotel! I just spent several days at the Valley Ho over the holidays and I had nothing but the most amazing time! The front desk staff was beyond exceptional (HUGE shoutout to Kyle, who was beyond helpful and provided amazing recommendations in the Scottsdale area)! Our room was incredible, which consisted of a two story suite! The kitchen was fully stocked with anything that you may possibly need (including a Nespresso machine)! My favorite part was the balconies because I especially enjoyed watching the sunrise in the morning. Our room faced Camelback Mountain, which was amazing at both dusk and dawn! I highly recommend enjoying the hotel restaurant, Zuzu. I went here both for breakfast and happy hour drinks/ food! Everything was delicious and I recommend getting the chorizo stuffed dates because they were sooo good! Additionally, I went to the spa for a Pear Spice Massage. This was nothing less than perfect just like our entire stay at the Valley Ho. The Spa was on the 2nd floor and each locker room included a sauna, which is also available to regular hotel guest between the spa's hours of operation. Love this hotel. It's a mid century Scottsdale classic and my favorite rooms are the poolside bungalows. If you go to the second floor above the lobby, there's a wall of historic photos featuring the hotel. You can see photos of when Zsa Zsa Gabor stayed here in the 1960s. There is also a photo of Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner, who stayed here in 1957 when they were married in Scottsdale. Old Hollywood history! If you get one of the lovely ground floor poolside bungalows rooms, you can just open the sliding patio door and make your way to the pool under the fragrant orange trees and jump in. Some rooms have this crazy cool bathtub in the middle of the room and it's great fun. The hotel restaurant is amazing; the bar is happening and they make superb drinks. I love the hotel gym. It's impeccably clean. The main pool gets a bit crazy on weekends in the summer because they have weekend parties, but the smaller pool is always tranquil. Location is just amazing because you can walk from the hotel to all the most happening places in Scottsdale with the best shopping, bars and restaurants. You really don't even need a car if you love old Scottsdale and just plan to stay local. But if you do have a car during your stay, they have lots of parking. The great thing about the bungalows is also that there's no need to valet as the hotel parking lot is connected just nearby and all you have to do is roll your bags right down the outdoor hall to your room. My favorite is to rent a bike and just pedal around the old Scottsdale streets and alongside the beautiful canal. That's if I can actually bring myself to leave the hotel, because I love it so much. If you want sundries or some extra snacks, there's a small mini market (I think it's a Circle K) just down the street within walking distance as well. Such a pleasure to stay here. read more

Hotel, Ambiance, Customer Service, Vibes, pool, Food all EXCELLENT Third time staying here and never disappoints. I had so much fun hanging out by the pool trying different cocktails and enjoying the fantastic music and Dj (He even played TAYLOR SWIFT!) The crowd is fun, various ages, so it was a cool juxtopisition of energy that I really enjoyed and made me wanna hang out longer and spend more money on food and drinks. I actally was going to stay an additional night but Delta didnt have appropriate flight times. ZUZU restaurant is fantastic. The SHRIMP tacos are only 18 usd and SO Delicious. We stayed here last April for our babymoon and booked through a condo owner via AirBNB, wonderful stay and would recommend for babymoon, girls trip, anything like that! I love the vibe of the hotel (50s style) and the dual pools (party pool & quiet pool). The condo suite we stayed in had a mini fridge & a microwave, a tub, a ton of room, private balcony, fun audrey hepburn artwork, we loved it. The on-site restaurant is really delicious for all meals. We stayed again over the weekend with our now one year old and it was a bit of a different experience. We were placed in a quieter wing of the hotel which was nice, and they were able to arrange my step mom's room to be next to ours, but we were put on the second floor of a building with no elevator which is not ideal for a stroller, and I honestly think we had the only room in the hotel without a tub which is not ideal for bathing a baby (and online it mentions king rooms do come with a tub + shower so this feels like a miss). There was also no mini fridge which we walked in with groceries including milk for our baby and it would've been nice to be told that ahead of time, although it was easy to call and get one sent up right away. They did provide a crib, and the staff was all incredibly sweet with our baby so total props for that. And special shout out to Megan who always greeted us with a smile and even gave us a little stuffed animal on our way out to commemorate the trip! All in, I still think it's a great hotel, it may just not be a number one choice for families which I should've understood better ahead of time. read more

My husband and I booked this hotel on a whim. Kids were at grandparents and our home is in remodel and we thought it would be nice to treat ourselves. Room was $282 for a night which I find pretty expensive given what the rooms are.. and ours had half a room without electricity we mentioned this checking out just as an FYI and the receptionist said it's a known issue... soooo you charged us full price for a room that has a known power outage.... We did not use the pools or receive "welcome drinks" like they said we would and the restaurant has terrible service. Speaking from also a past experience when we came for dinner out... maybe it's because we sit on a patio? Anyways, I wouldn't stay again but I wouldn't tell someone not to ...the bed was comfy, but I would certainly tell them my experience with a sigh...this place is cool based on the history of it. read more

This review would be incomplete if we didn't compliment Alex, our server at the pool. He anticipated our needs, and made sure every guest felt seen and appreciated - even our children. I truly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Valley Ho. I couldn't recommend it more to my friends who are looking for a spot in Scottsdale. It's conveniently located next to Old Town, there's a lot to do and the scenery is epic. I love the layout of the hotel. Only downside could be having a lot of stairs, may not be accessible to some as it's not a completely indoor hotel. I can't complain about anything else besides that or the tiny bugs that creep in which is why I'm removing a star. I wish there was more control over this. The staff was super friendly, I spend my days at the pool, and it's really close to the nightlife scene if you're into that. Scottsdale is charming with a lot to offer and Valley Ho is reflective of that. The restaurant downstairs is yummy and they have a full bar. The pool has a DJ at certain hours during the day. It felt like a motel to us rather than an hotel. Rooms are very small with no elevators from 1st floor to second floor, unless you "upgrade" to the tower. This is terrible. What about those who are challenged or elderly who do not want to pay more to be in the towers? Rooms are so small for double that each side of the bed is backed to the wall with about 1 feet of space so it's difficult to get out on that side. The hotel makes me think that the Rat Pack is performing with the Brady Kids along with the Partridge Family. The pool area is dated. Bar area and ZuZu restaurant are the only plus to this place. I would not recommend staying here to anyone. The waitstaff is great too read more

We were in Scottsdale for the wedding of some very good friends of ours. They were holding their ceremony and reception at the Valley Ho. I was absolutely floored when we arrived. Ring-a-ding-ding, I felt like a member of the Rat Pack. Upon entering the lobby, we were hit with this Mid Century décor. I half expected to see either Dean Martin or Austin Powers waiting to greet us. There is a rich history of the hotel that can be seen in the various framed old postcards, brochures, and souvenirs on the second floor. You are surrounded by the history of this hotel, and yet it does not feel old. From the time we arrived early to getting to our room, the service was impeccable. Because we were early, our room was not ready. But this was not a problem as the clerk immediately checked us in, told us not to worry about our luggage as it would be brought up to us later and for us to go and relax and have a drink, which we did. We had a lovely room with a great view. Again, although you could feel the history of the place, there were a lot of modern amenities to remind you that you are in 2023. I was particularly giggly about the tub with the mood lighting (yeah baby!). There was the standard dresser, desk, and Eames style furniture. There was a mini bar and snack space if you are into that. We also had our own balcony overlooking the pool area, which was nice. I loved the landscape around the pool and the hotel...very tropical but not crazy. The thing I kept forgetting was that all of this greenery was not native to the area, but it sure felt like it. Bravo to whoever is maintaining that landscaping. We didn't do the pool (not a fan of getting in water with a lot of people I don't know), it was equipped with a bar and sitting areas with lounge chairs and some shading if you are during the day. Scottsdale is definitely not on my list of vacation designations, other than to see some great friends who live in town. But man I am thinking I need to come back here just to stay at this hotel and do nothing but drink bubbles. read more
