    Pear + Citrus Spritz
    Nicole D.

We came to Hotel Valley Ho for an overnight staycation for our anniversary and had a really nice stay. The location is perfect to get to anything and everything. When it isn't too hot, you could walk to anywhere you want to go, or take a short uber ride to the restaurants and bars in Old Town or Fashion Square. They had valet parking or self parking for a daily fee. We were going to be coming and going, so we did self parking on the street. The property has a vibe all of its own, like you stepped back in time to old Hollywood or like you landed in Palm Springs somehow. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and everywhere you went, people were just genuinely enjoying themselves. The pools were not too crowded, granted we went midweek and in June, which is what we were looking for. I know this place can really turn it up for the pool parties and DJed evening events though. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The only hiccup really was the tv, in that it has Google Cast (previously Chromecast) and it wouldn't work with our phones for streaming services. We were going to stream Netflix but it was a no go. Reruns of the Office are always a hit anyway. The room had a coffee maker, and a fridge, but it was a mini bar, not one that you could really put things in. There are ice buckets in the room and ice machines available in the hallway if you need to keep something cold. The shower was big and the water pressure was perfect. We went to the ZuZu bar for a little bit and got two delicious drinks. I got the Pear and Citrus Spritz and they are light and not too sweet, but can go down a little too easy. My husband got the Pineapple and Citrus and it had a nice bite from the ginger beer. We are locals but like to go to the different hotels in the area and I can definitely see coming here again and recommending it to others as well.

Was here for five nights and was fortunate to get upgraded to one of their Suites overlooking the Oh Pool. The room came with a washer dryer, walk-in closet, walk-in shower, full kitchen, large living area and bedroom with a TV screen that pivots so one could watch it while in bed or the living room. Oh pool which is the main pool was great and being here throughout the week the pool was not crowded. ZuZu restaurant was amazing as we ate there for brunch, lunch and dinner and speaking to locals and returning guests, it is well known for great food at reasonable prices. The downside was that during our stay the Google Chrome was not working and was told that this issue was throughout the property. Valet overnight parking is reasonable at $28 without taxes and the hotel provides unlimited complimentary 16.9 oz bottles of water during your stay. A short walk of approximately 20 minutes will bring you to Old Town followed by the Scottsdale Fashion Center which is comparable to South Coast Plaza in Orange County or Valley Fair in San Jose. Service was great during our stay and room renovations were recently done in 2025 with front of the house continuing throughout the resort. Visited the two lane lap pool but did not use it during our stay.

First time at Hotel Valley Ho but hopefully not the last! This place has such a cute retro vibe, it reminded me a lot of Palm Springs. I think you can self park but we chose to valet which was $28 for overnight. We also called about an early check in and they were able to accommodate us about an hour early which was nice. It was a hot day so we appreciated the help from the staff to bring our luggage to our room. Since we had a dog with us, they accommodated us with a spot on the first floor near the courtyard so it was easy to take her in and out from the back patio. So thoughtful! I didn't get to enjoy the food much but I had an espresso martini at the bar that was creamy and delicious. Overall, this was a great stay and I would come back!

    Calamari, so so good!

Always love my time here. Jose at the desk is fabulous, and Seth at the pool is always such warm and welcoming! Kaylen's service with a smile is always an extra treat! Love my Virgin Bloody Mary. This is the perfect way to enjoy a lil staycation or poolside read.

Review is for the pool service and spa! Upbeat pool scene with DJ on weekends. Fun atmosphere, quick pool side service. Drinks and food were good at fair prices for Scottsdale. VH spa was a pleasant experience. Friendly staff. Nice massage. Anthony was very attentive to my requests and I was very satisfied with the service. Definitely look into their Sunday and Wednesday deals! The spa pool combo was the perfect mix for a mid week break!

Just checked into Hotel Valley Ho and I'm already loving it. Such a cool retro hotel with serious Palm Springs vibes. Great pool, great bar, and you're right in the middle of everything Old Town Scottsdale has to offer. Looking forward to soaking it all in over the next few days.

Stayed here for a conference and I was throughly impressed by this hotel. Check in was at 4pm but I arrived from the airport at 10am and they were able to get a room ready for me by 12:30pm which I was impressed by. All the common areas of the hotel are beautiful and clean. I arrived on Sunday and the pool is open to non hotel guest for a fee and definitely more lively on the weekends. My room was on the ground floor right by the pool and was pretty loud Sunday night but wasn't too much of a bother. Only issue was that I had trouble locking my patio door but the hotel staff were able to assist with that easily. The room its self was very nice. The bath tub was huge and I liked that it had a separate shower and toilet room. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. I liked all the closet space and that there was a clothes steamer. All the staff were wonderful and friendly. Room service was easy and quick. The fries are amazing! I can't wait to come back here in the future for another conference.

First time here and it was amazing. Special shout out to Alex and the staff at the pool area. He was phenomenal. Treated us extra special on our anniversary. Great location to everything. Will be returning.

A quick weekend trip to Phoenix brought me to Hotel Valley Ho. Located in Scottsdale's Old Town, it is walkable to restaurants, shops, and the Southwest museum. If you want to stay in, you will find mid-century modern vibes, from the pool to the hotel dining area. Step back into the early 60s, and enjoy! Separate review for dining at Zuzu's.

Lovely resort/ hotel stay in Old Town Scottsdale... perfectly located with walking distance to explore Scottsdale. Room was spacious, clean and I appreciated the anticipation of amenities (example garment steamer). The pool was closed this time of the year as the area is transformed into a roller rink for the holidays but the hot tub was open and clean with ample towels. The grounds are well cared for with ample citrus trees and well manicured lawns. The hotel is tastefully decorated for the holidays and overall a great vibe. Customer service was great.., staff were super friendly and helpful during the stay. Would definitely stay here again.

I came to Arizon for my company's division team meeting and was assigned here for our stay. It was a sweet 20 mins drive from the airport and was automatically greeted by some of the staff when I got out of the car. The staff at the front desk were super friendly and helpful for my check in. The room set up is beautiful and I was assigned to the building all the way in the back, which I didn't mind because I figured that would be away from any of the additional noises that I may have. The only thing I didn't like was the curtains how it didn't really close all the way. I had to switch beds in the room because one of the blue lights outside snuck through the curtains and kept hitting my face. We had dinner/cocktail on the roof and it was BEAUTIFUL! Food was great, drinks were refreshing, the servers that had all sorts of hors d'oeuvres were friendly and fantastic. Beautiful scenery, tasty food, and friendly/professional staff. Other than that, everything was fine. I would recommend stopping at the restaurant there because I had their smash burger...and it was REALLY good! The sauce was delicious and presentation was there! I didn't get the chance to take a picture because I was with my new job/boss and I didn't want everyone to "wait" on me LOL.

    Self-care Sunday
    Emma N.

I came here for a spa day with a friend and we both had reservations for their Self Care Sunday package which was a 60 minute massage and one mini service of your choice (foot reflexology, facial, full body scrub). They provided complimentary valet parking, and even brought my purse up to the spa when I realized I had left it in my car. The spa itself was very nice, and after checking in we were given lockers which included large cozy robes and slip on rubber sandals. Alexa was very helpful and also helped to get my purse delivered to me from the valet staff. We were both taken back for our appointments pretty quickly. Nyah was my technician and she did an incredible job with my massage and foot reflexology. During the session, there were heated blankets, heated neck warmers and essential oil scents. I felt so relaxed and enjoyed every second of it! When my session was finished, I was given a complimentary glass of champagne and full access to their spa and pool amenities. My friend and I did enjoy a few hours by the pool and ordered from the bar outside. We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole which were delicious and also ordered drinks. I tried the Oh Spritz which was good. This spa did have a sauna, but we didn't go into it. They have a few pools and hot tubs too. I would definitely come back here for their spa services, especially the Self Care Sunday deal, since the services are discounted.

Ask the Community - Hotel Valley Ho

Is the property clothing optional as per Yelp?

100% No. Weird that yelp has it listed like that

Would you recommend booking a room in "The Tower" or a room in the original hotel?

I have stayed in both, kinda depends on what you want. If you get a Camelback facing tower room you can see some beautiful sunsets and they have a little balcony you can watch from. It's also closer to the restaurant and Oh! Pool. If you stay in…

Are dogs allowed? service animals? Or emotional support dogs?

Yes! We saw pets and service animals at the hotel.

Is it ok to open carry my firearm at your hotel?

Since the general areas of the hotel and its outlets serve alcohol, pursuant to ARS 4-229, the property cannot allow firearms in those areas. A firearm can be stored in your vehicle or within your guestroom, but cannot be carried into areas where…

Weekend drink specials? How much to attend just day pool pass?

I believe the day pass is like $65. Its not one of the cheaper options but I believe its because its a relatively small resort.

Is there a free parking option or is it all paid valet?

You can park for free on the street. It's near the hotel and a very short walk.

What type of room has the tub out in the open? I really don’t think I would like that.

It's a regular room and wifey/I used the tub and liked it! 🛀 :)

Does any of the rooms come with a jetted tub ? If so, which room type?

No on the jetted tubs when I stayed there I asked for a room with jetted tubs I was advised they don't have jetted tubs

Do you have to have a room booked to use the pool/pool parties? How much does it cost to just go to the pool party?

The main pool area is reserved for registered hotel guests only on Saturday's and Sunday's between May and September. Outside of those days and dates, you are able to visit without being a guest. Additionally, you can gain access anytime by…

So if I book a room, say, from Friday- Sunday... do I have access to both pools on Saturday? Some reviews say that even though youre a guest at the hotel, you arent able to use one of the pools on Saturday?

Yes, registered guests have access to all the hotel outlets and amenities.

Does anyone have experience with the spa aspect at this location?

Sure. You are welcome to reach out to our... Spa Director - Josh Bredimus at jbredimus@hotelvalleyho.com…

    What time is check in?

I believe they give a time on their website, but I've arrived as early as 8:30 am from flying from the East Coast and I've gotten my room in as little as an hour and a half later. They are very accommodating and generous.

Is this kid friendly? Planning to go to AZ during spring break Update: we are thinking around april…

The hotel is not 100% kid friendly, but it's the best place to stay in Phoenix. When swimming, I recommend using the back pool. It has a wading pool for kids and much quieter than the front pool that has a DJ and people drinking.…

Would you bring your kids? Age 16?

Yes! There are for some reason a lot of bike riding around this area. I think you can rent the bikes or they are a free activity. But there 2 different pools on the grounds. Shopping is very close.

I read about the pool parties on weekends that can be loud. What part of this hotel can we request to be put in that will be a bit quieter? Thanks!

The entertainment at the main pool is between 1:30pm and 5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We do offer two different pool environments. If you are looking to be away from the main pool area, we would suggest requesting a room in buildings…

Is the pool area a constant party atmosphere?

Just on the weekend! But it was worth it to us

Is this suitable for a family or only adults?

On weekends in the summer, we host pool parties at our OH Pool that are geared more towards adults, but we offer a second pool area, OHasis, that is typically the quieter area.

The staff was constantly around and friendly, and the service was quicker than expected. The fruit platter that came with the daybed was much better than we have received at other resorts with the add in, and the meal and drink cost was on par. What we really enjoyed was that the music was at a relaxing volume, we were given free drinks as the resort wanted all guests to get into the holiday. Having the day bed from 10-6 was more than enough...we used 5 or 6 of the hours. Will definitely come back! Two knocks/challenges - figuring out where the pool actually was posed a challenge. We ended up walking around the massive property for a bit as the front desk was busy when we walked in and there wasn't good signage. When we found the pool all the entrances are locked and need a key card. Fortunately a staff memeber had walked near the gate and let us in.

There's lots of fun spots to sit and relax, the pool is pretty large and offers lots of beach chairs. We went at night and while the crowd was small, the groups there were partying a bit too hard for our liking. We didn't stay at the pool long. Our room was charming and had lots of southwestern character which I loved, the kitchenette had a coffee maker, fridge and sink. Bathroom was so spacious!! Two sinks is a luxury for us, and the shower was big enough to not bump into each other. Parking was a bit of a challenge due to the event, but staff and visitors have been happy, kind and helpful.

Any issues I had were dealt with by the staff in a professional manner and efficiently. After being here in the heat perhaps they have guest park downstairs to avoid putting their cars in the sun and it's also gated down there. Either way knowing ahead of time you're paying for parking to park remote from your room will be less shocking when you see the size of the resort. The golf carts come very quickly. I also want to say that checking out was also easy. Anyway overall a good stay.

Dining: TAQUERIA CENTRO -- 10 out of 10. The food and service were both exceptional. Manager Carlos did an outstanding job and was a true highlight of our stay. Prado -- 4 out of 10. We visited Prado twice during our stay. Our first visit was for breakfast -- the food was okay but noticeably overpriced for what was offered. Our second visit was a far worse experience. We were seated and waited 15 minutes without our server ever acknowledging us, so we got up and left. The service at this restaurant was consistently poor and the pricing did not reflect the quality or experience provided. Dining Options -- Room for Improvement. For a resort of this size and reputation, the dining options felt limited. We would strongly recommend adding at least one additional restaurant to give guests more variety. The snack and coffee shop, which could help fill that gap, closed far too early in the evening. Extending those hours would go a long way in improving the overall guest experience, particularly for those who want a light bite or a cup of coffee later in the day. The Room -- 6 out of 10. The room itself was nice, but there were several issues that fell well below the standard I would expect from a resort of this caliber. The bed was old and noticeably worn down, making for an uncomfortable night's sleep. To make matters worse, the comforter on the bed was torn and had visible holes in it -- something that should never make it into a guest room. We also struggled with the room temperature throughout the night and were unable to get it to cool down comfortably. A Bright Spot at Checkout: I spoke with Avery Williams, Director of Front Office, at checkout and she was genuinely outstanding. She was sincerely concerned about the issues we experienced and did everything she could to address them. She even followed up with an email after our departure, which was a very nice touch. Overall, I left feeling somewhat disappointed given the reputation of this resort. With a few improvements -- additional dining options, extended snack shop hours, updated room bedding and linens, and better temperature control -- along with a serious look at the service standards at Prado, this could easily be a 9 or 10 out of 10 experience.

I invited four girlfriends to join me, and each of them booked their own rooms. Unfortunately, after spending four days at the property, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I've ever had. The problems started at check-in. The front desk associate barely engaged with me, offered no overview of the property, amenities, or resort experience, and didn't ask whether it was my first visit. When I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, there wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday." I was handed a key and what turned out to be a property map, with no explanation whatsoever. My next stop was the concierge desk to inquire about pool cabanas. I was simply told they were sold out. No alternatives were offered, no waitlist was mentioned, and no effort was made to assist. Instead, I was told to look at an outside website myself. At a luxury resort, isn't the concierge's role to help guests find solutions and make arrangements? When I later asked if the resort did anything special for birthday guests, the concierge emailed me a list of items I could purchase. That response perfectly summarized the level of hospitality we experienced. The room itself was another disappointment. It felt outdated and in need of renovation, hardly what one would expect from a luxury property. Ironically, when I later visited the pool and asked an attendant about cabanas, she immediately offered to place me on a waitlist in case of cancellations--an option the concierge never bothered to mention. The following morning, I spoke with a manager, Alley, about my experience. She apologized and offered a $100 food and beverage credit, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to my room, I discovered something far more concerning: one of the pillows had visible mold on it. Since I don't sleep with pillows, I hadn't noticed it the first night. As I looked closer, I found stains on the bedding, pillows, lampshade, and even areas of the room that clearly had not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping came and changed the sheets and pillowcases, but shockingly left behind the actual moldy pillow. At that point, this had moved far beyond a service issue and into a cleanliness and health concern. I reported everything again to management. The additional response was a $50 credit. At this point, the property had failed in virtually every area that defines a luxury hotel: guest service, concierge support, cleanliness, attention to detail, and problem resolution. My friends who booked rooms experienced similar frustrations with both customer service and housekeeping. We ultimately spent much of our time dining at restaurants off property and even rented a cabana at another resort because our experience at The Phoenician was so disappointing. For a stay that cost me over $2,000, offering a total of $150 in credits felt completely out of touch with the severity of the issues. The amount wasn't the problem, it was the lack of accountability and genuine concern. I rarely leave negative reviews, but travelers should know that this property did not deliver anything close to the luxury experience it advertises. Between the poor service, moldy pillow, cleanliness concerns, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend The Phoenician. I will also be filing a complaint through Marriott Bonvoy regarding my experience. Luxury hotels are defined by service, attention to detail, and how they handle problems when they arise. Unfortunately, The Phoenician failed on all three.

This inspired a weekend stay for our one year anniversary of officially dating that falls on 4th of July. Upon arriving, there are both valet and self-parking. We chose self-parking, which ended up being $30/day and a $.50 fee for processing via the QR code on the receipt. I find this easier than the hassle of someone grabbing items, then bringing up. Though, you will have to wheel them through the parking lot so chose which works best for you. Our Room: - King Bed + sofa - 4th Floor (highest) - Pool view + balcony (very spacious and would book a pool view in the future again) - Balmain Paris shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion which were fabulous! Dining Options (separate reviews if dined there): - Two pool bars (H2Oasis and Sandbar) - Canyon Market - Mesa Centrale - Grand Vista Lounge - La Zazonna - Tiki Taka - Room Service: I believe this is serviced by Canyon Marketplace or Mesa Centrale. A bit pricey, but enjoyed a burger to our room one night. Actually ended up preferring that one to the one served at H2Oasis. 4th of July Fireworks: - Our room had a balcony on the fourth level, and ended up being perfect for fireworks as they shoot off from behind the pool. If your room is not situated to see, there is reserved spot for hotel guests, but we chose to view from our balcony. 4th of July Festivities: DJs, live music, games, curated menus, a bald eagle in the lobby, resort specific fireworks, and more! If you are looking for a destination for your next 4th of July, I'd highly recommend this! Pools: - Adults Only (our preferred as less busy and enjoyed H2Oasis) - Family Pool Over our two night stay, we had plenty of dining and activities that we didn't leave the property. We both throughly enjoyed, and it was hard to return home even though nothing beats cat snuggles. Love to return for another staycation and will be on the lookout for other events and activities that will draw me back.

Each cabana included a bucket of drinks, and overall the property and pool area were very nice, which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of less. Unfortunately, the service throughout the day fell short. We waited close to an hour before anyone checked on us at the cabanas or brought drinks, despite paying a premium price for the experience. Food service was also very slow, with long waits for basic orders. Our waiter was polite and apologetic once he finally arrived, but for a resort at this price point, especially on a busy holiday weekend, the service should have been much more organized and attentive.

There were 2 people at the front desk and the woman who wasn't helping anyone noticed me, made no eye contact and did not bother to offer helping or at least a "we'll be right with you" *Room: courtyard king faced the center of the property so had beautiful views with a spacious patio and 2 chairs. It was clean and spacious with very cute details! There's a mini bar fridge that kept the drinks in there cool but not cold, and it's not cold enough to keep food safely stored so it may be worth the $25 fridge charge (Which I do think is ridiculous for July in phoenix. Come on.) *I was on the 2nd level and its stairs only, so I did get asssistance from the bellhop -- he was so kind, helpful and welcoming! Pool area: Beautiful pool areas with a mix of sun and shade. Get there early if you're particular about where you sit. The water was nice but on a holiday weekend you could see the layer of oil from people's sunscreen etc (to be expected). Pool bar: Full bar you can order food and drinks from. Staff was helpful but they were definitely very busy so very blunt/brief transactional orders. There were servers that were taking orders and delivering but I couldn't tell if it was for everyone only not. I was never approached once in 3 days, and I saw staff actively avoiding eye contact with a few people trying to capture attention. Food: I had steak tacos which were fine, nothing exciting or special, and it doesn't come with any sides. Fries were good and crispy. Insalada salad was very mid (greens, pear, walnut, lemon dressing), and the shrimp was good but 4 medium shrimp for $13. Oats and berries: don't bother. I could tell the cold oats had been sitting on the plate for a while (very stiff, too stiff). It was gorgeous and the berries were great, but it wasn't worth the $. Canal Club: Really great space with the vibe you might expect. It was never quite too busy, and bartenders were attentive and friendly on Saturday and Sunday. Check out: This was not a great experience, but again I'm giving the benefit of the doubt of a holiday weekend. Before even arriving I opted for the late checkout (1pm) and when checking in they even confirmed it for me - great! I spent the morning at the pool but when I went back to my room (after 12) I couldn't get in so I'm locked out in my wet suit. Apparently my key only worked until 11 or 12 but no one informed me I'd need to reset my key (even tho this was confirmed prior to and upon arrival). It was annoying having to wait bc it also ended up taking up the rest of my time and my peaceful weekend ended in me rushing to get cleaned up and out of the room on time for the turnover. In addition, I was trying to make a latte before I left but since the room is slightly sloped (really lol!) the glass under the machine shook off and spilled everyone (for the second time). It was annoying and just added to the hurried checkout. After getting ready to head out I called to see if I could get help with my bags again and they said they were sending someone up and hung up before I could also request my car. I called right back and they got my car # and took care of it, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. Someone was there very quickly with a cart to help and from there it was smooth and friendly -- just as it was getting help to the room. All in all there are some areas I'd give 5 stars to, some 4, and others a 3. I am big on the service component, so the less desirable interactions leave me wanting to give 3 stars, especially given the cost of staying. I'm being generous because overall I had a good time in my room and by the pool... I will go again on a non-holiday and hopefully be able to update to 5 stars.
