I went here to get dentures. I had neglected my oral health for so long, I had to have all of my teeth extracted, which we did in one sitting, and there wasn't any pain or bleeding at all. It took a long time to get the dentures done, continuing problems with my insurance coverage, nothing to do with the office. I found the staff to be professional and straightforward in their communication. I never saw the same person twice, different specialties I guess. They have a lot of exam rooms so they are working with several patients at the same time. That's ok with me. For what I had done, and the end result, I am very satisfied with the experience. read more

I will never step foot in this facility again and I take every opportunity to advise others against using the McHenry Dentist as well. In April of 2025 I brought my newly 4 year old daughter to have a couple cavities filled. She had received cleanings there in the past and those were simple enough that we didn't recognize any issues. I've never personally had a cavity treatment and was therefore unsure of how to prepare my daughter. The experience was terrible from the moment we were called back. She was instructed to sit in the seat and to scoot as far up as she could. No one ever said hello, introduced themselves, or had any level of conversation with myself or my child regarding what they were doing or what to expect. They immediately started inserting tools into her mouth and she was visibly terrified. She screamed and cried the entire time. She reached for me with not one but both hands and held me so tight as they worked on her teeth. I've never seen her this scared in her life. At one point, the dentist removed the drill from her mouth and within less than five seconds, she uttered "I don't know why you're still crying, I'm not even drilling anymore." No compassion, no validating her fear or experience, just complete dismissal and irritation of my daughter's reaction. She's a child, but she's a PERSON, and she deserved to be treated as such. As a family dentist, I would expect the staff to be better suited to work with children. Unfortunately with this being her first dental treatment experience, she was left traumatized and fearful of returning to the dentist. BUT IT GETS WORSE!!! For her 6 month follow up, she was seen by the school dentist and they noted the same teeth/cavities that were previously treated at the McHenry Dentist.. They recommended that she be seen again right away. This time we went elsewhere (Esha Dental in Addison). At that appointment they reviewed the cavities that were previously filled, and determined that they had worsened to the point that one of the teeth now needed to be crowned and the other needed extraction **JUST 6 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE FILLINGS!!! What was even the point of putting my child through that awful initial experience for this to be the outcome?? Obviously the fillings were not done well considering. I was in such disbelief that I even took her to a third location (Blue Coral Pediatric Dentistry in Crystal Lake) to get another opinion before proceeding with the recommended treatment. Blue Coral confirmed the exact same things we were told at Esha! We ultimately went back to Esha to have the crown and extraction completed because they accepted our insurance and Blue Coral did not (though they were still wonderful nonetheless, especially in comparison to the McHenry Dentist). Despite this treatment being more intense and more painful than the original fillings, the dentist my daughter saw at Esha was so informative and kind, and she truly made the experience fun (Dr. Kamal for anyone wondering - I can't recommend her enough)!! We go back in a week to have a spacer put in where the extraction was done, and after finding a dentist that was so great with her, my daughter isn't fearful in the slightest to return. What a difference it makes to be seen at a facility that actually treats children with kindness, empathy, and respect! read more

My foster child was refused service because I would not sign the financial and consent form. As a foster parent, I cannot sign these forms. I gave the receptionist the DCFS consent line, as I have done for any other medical provider, and she refused to call the consent line. when a dentist has you for a patient for a couple of years and you pay all you bills on time then they NOW require your social security number to continue to be a patient something isn't right. I was told at time I'd check in that my insurance company wants me to give them my SS number. I said that someth didn't seem right so I got my insurance on the phone and confirmed they would NEVER require that at time of service. I put my insurance rep on speakerphone and the persons behind the desk got very offended and asked my to leave. I will never go back there again. Used to take my kids here, had the worst experience. My 4 year old at the time had a cavity and we had the absolute rudest dentist. She was yelling at my poor daughter the whole time, being aggressive and rough. My daughter actually choked on the mouth swabs and the dentist didn't even notice and literally scolded me for reaching in and getting the swabs out to prevent her from choking further. I should've filed a lawsuit at the time but didn't pursue it. Front desk staff is rude and unhelpful, wouldn't let me accompany my young children during their cleanings. To the owner... Recently I was a new patient and felt I was misinformed regarding the program they offer for uninsured patients. I did a review explaining this and was answered by you suggesting I call the office and it would be worked out. I did this and spoke to a very nice lady whom you suggested, and she couldn't fix anything. She explained that the 7 xrays I had cost more than the full mouth 8 xray price and I actually paid less than if the plan I joined was used! Prior to heart surgery, my husband needed a cleaning & exam to rule out infection. This was his 1st time going to this dentist. Because we are on a fixed income, I want to be sure I knew the price, before making the appointment, I was quoted $99. However, he was charged $150. When I followed up about the price we were charged, I was told "Sorry, ma'am. Have a nice day". Then she hung up, she just hung up. Afterwords, I was mentioning this to my daughter-in-law, only to find out that she had also gone there. Her experience was even worse. She had a filling done there and had so much pain & trouble with that tooth afterwards. She informed them that it felt "high"and that she couldn't chew on that side. They, as she put it, "they blew her off". Telling her "oh, it will be fine, just give it time". Well it wasn't fine it's over 8 weeks later, and she was in a lot of pain. I recently visited Mchenry Dentist in 2964 COMMERCE DR JOHNSBURG. I started visiting their office for the first time in 2022. They put a filling in my tooth and it falls out two times in two weeks. That was terrible!!! Only on the third time they finally find out how to fix it. Another situation I had with them. They said I need deep cleaning for my gums, - I said: ok, no problem. It took time a month for approval from insurance and finally, after six months of waiting, I got my appointment for deep cleaning. Just before the appointment date, I received a call, saying I need to pay extra 50 dollars because my cleaning after six months and they can't clean my teeth because they need a second check-up which is not covered by my insurance and I must pay 50 dollars and can't refuse. If I refuse, they will not perform cleaning at all. So, they are pushing you to pay for services you don't need just because they want to. You can't decide what you want and what you don't. It seemed like they were limiting my choices through manipulation. Ultimately, I leave it to you to decide whether or not to visit them. However, based on my personal experience, I must say that it was quite terrible. read more

My granddaughter has been going here since she was getting teeth in. She and her sister had check ups this year march 13 2021. Then later a Part of her filling came out. We made an appointment she went it was either last week of May 1st week of June. They said she needs a root canal. Had to make an appointment. Her appointment was July 7th at 2 pm. We had about 3 confirmations in that month. We arrived and they said no she is not scheduled. I said how can that be when I had 3 confirmations. They proceeded to say the last time they see she was in was 2019. Seriously!!! She was there already twice in the span of 3 months this year. My husband at that time was at his dentist in Crystal lake I told him to see if the girls can just go there. They got her and appointment in 2 days and filled her tooth. Yep she didn't need a root canal. Btw she is 8 and had no need to have a root canal on her baby tooth. I wouldn't recommend McHenry dentist to my worst enemy. read more

If I could I would give this office -5. It's hard to find a trustworthy dentist now a days. I had to look for a new office since my dentist retired. I called to to inquire how much a cleaning at this office cost. Kylie advise it was $50 and their schedule was pretty much open. Most dentist office I called were booked for 1-1.5 month out. When I schedule my appointment I confirmed several times with her it was for x-ray/exam/and cleaning she said yes. The day of my appointment I was 2 mins late, went to the front desk told them " I have an appointment for cleaning" and the lady replied you know you have to pay $50. I didn't even get my paperwork when I got called to the back. Everything was soo fast and rushed. Took my paperwork with me to the back, didn't even look at it when the tech said open your mouth we are going to do your X-rays. It so rushed my gums hurt how fast it was done. Not long after the doctor came in she asked if I was interested in a cleaning and I replied that is what I am here for. She then indicated I have to pay an additional $99 for a cleaning. I told the doctor and the assistant right then that was not what I was told over the phone now they are trying to charge me 3x more than was was indicated. Spoke with a lady on the office side, I told her who I spoke with, when and time to have them pull the call she indicated calls are not recorded (very convenient for them) and nothing they can do I could ether pay or not get the cleaning but still have to pay for the $50 exam and X-rays. I asked for a manager (at this point no one said their name or title) another lady comes and says there is no way anyone would say that cleaning cost $50. They had obviously no customer service talked very derogatory, accusative, and demeaning towards me. When I told them this was not the service I was told would be done. The manager said I can pay the $50 and go. I told her no because the service I was advise for was not completed and I took time off work to get to the appointment on time. She indicated I was been recorded they have security cameras to which I replied good then you have this day/time a Kylie telling me I would get a cleaning. She then stated can call the cops because I was shoplifting. I believe she was trying to intimidate me into paying with her false statement and because I am hispanic thought would be afraid of her calling the cops. I walked out. At no point was I yelling or aggressive towards anyone to deserve that treatment. I am no "criminal" they are SCAM. Their bait and switch tactic did not work this time! This dentistry has a horrible BBB rating not accredited business. After reading more reviews on them it is not the first time they up charge people. BE CAREFUL! I kept going back to Mia Stone for adjustments until she finally said she couldn't do anything more for me. WTH?? To top it off, they keep sending me a final bill for $12 plus 18 cents - per month - for interest. They make no room in their schedule for extremely necessary procedures. They don't respond to messages. I've been going here with my kids for years and have always had great experiences but this last time exceeded all expectations of any business ever. I took my daughter in and our hygienist, Joy went above and beyond for us. My oldest had an old filling from a previous dentist fall out so we came in to have it fixed. I had to bring my 2 year old with as it was such short notice. She was NOT HAPPY. she wanted a snack and I didn't have anything with me, I tried explaining it to her but there's no reasoning with a hangry toddler. without hesitation Joy brought her not one snack but multiple to pick from. This is the first review in my life, I have never had such a negative experience before . I can't say anything bad about the office, we like Dr. Bhow, the employees are always polite. But today! Dr. Mehta is very rude and unprofessional. After 10 minutes or even less she began to express that my child was crying and could not keep his mouth wide, yes, he was crying, but he was not hysterical, he was crying softly, just tears were flowing and it was hard for him to open his mouth wide, but he tried! She was trying to put big holder in his mouth and was complaining non -stop ! But he is only 5 years old ... Dr. Bhow told us back in October that there was no need to get fillings, but then they called me from the office and told me to come and appointed Dr. Mehta, I asked twice if we really needed to come. I sooooo regretted it !! Why did they give us a doctor who does not know how to work with children? She rolled her eyes, gave comments and attitude, so in the end I took the child and left. At the same time, I canceled two of my clients in order to bring the child to the appointment. As a result, I wasted time, money ( because I canceled my clients ) and dealt with a non-professional doctor with disgusting behavior. Hope she gets fired sooner or later. read more

Dr. Stone was very sweet and reassuring and I enjoyed the laid back feeling and her and the hygienist holding conversation while they did my exam it kept the mood light! Iv brought my child here for 2 years now. Every time is a different dentist and they all tell me something different. Told me she had 6 cavities And I needed to come back 6 separate times, but 5 months before, she had "perfect" teeth. She's 5. I had my own dentist review the X-Rays and do an exam. she saw 2 cavities, one was bigger than the other and needed attention. The dentist we had today was again different and only ONE staff member helped while my daughter was crying in the chair. The dentist just let her cry telling him it hurts instead of doing anything he insisted it was a safety issue because she was crying hysterically. My child almost choked on her cotton swabs and I had to step in and pull them out from her throat while the dentist sat there and yelled at me for doing so. She was CHOKING. I do not recommend this place! Less than 2 years ago I had a filling replaced and it took the Dentist 3 times to get the filling in. At the time I thought he must be a new guy and said nothing. Now that same filling has come out and I have pain. What am I being told...That Dentist is no longer with us (go figure). In order to replace the filling a very snarky Carly informs me that I have to have a complete check up that will cost 45 dollars as my insurance only covers one check up per year. Mind you my insurance tells me its a filling and no check up is needed. When I asked to speak with someone else "Snarky" Carly informs me that the asst mgr will just tell me the same thing. (she really needs some customer service training). At this point I am waiting to hear from my Dental Insurance...while I sit here in pain due to their negligence. The office staff lies, the dentist lies, the hygienist did absolutely nothing, and my lip was burned with the polishing brush several times as the assistant was obviously new yet unsupervised. When my husband called to complain, he was told by the office manager that they would reverse the claim to the insurance company so that I could go have a better experience at a different dentist. Well, they did not do that and the office manager 2 weeks later claims she never spoke to my husband. Three times in a 12 to 18 month period I received a bill after a visit asking for more money and I will not be going back I don't know how you can screw up billing almost every time someone comes in. When I left the office after each of those appointments I paid my bill in full only to receive another bill. Sometimes the additional bills were for services that I did not receive, sometimes they just screwed up the original amount that I was asked to pay.
