We needed an emergency prescription called in while we were vacationing in the area. Not only was my call answered kindly and professionally, but I was placed on hold briefly while they made sure that the medication was in stock prior to having our DR. call it in. She also let me know some very vital information about the scripts coverage and cost. Above and beyond customer service!! Hubby went to pick up, and they were kind, friendly, and helpful. I have been a long-standing patron of Medicine Shoppe and have consistently recommended it to my personal and professional networks. However, my recent experience has prompted me to reassess my loyalty. Although I do not frequently visit the pharmacy in person, and the staff may not recognize me visually but rather by name, I want to emphasize that I do not receive any preferential treatment. During my last visit, I witnessed several disturbing incidents in a short span of time, which ultimately led me to depart the premises. One young woman, in particular, was yelling at another staff member from the drop-off window in Spanish across the pharmacy to another staff member, using language that was vulgar, repulsive, and crude. I assume she was unaware that I am bilingual and could understand her, as everyone in the vicinity could hear her. I can honestly attest that I have never heard anyone communicate in such a manner. Furthermore, I observed the owner in his own world while this was happening; he didn't seem to even take notice of the level of unprofessionalism of these two employees. Nor was anyone concerned with helping an elderly gentleman get out the door in a wheelchair. The pharmacy appears to be experiencing significant issues, as medications are rarely in stock, and the over-the-counter products are cheaply made, slightly used, or old. I strongly advise spending time inside to observe before filling any medication. I felt compelled to exit the premises, share my experience, and no longer use or recommend this pharmacy. This saddens me, as I have been using this pharmacy continuously, even as it had changed ownership three times to my knowledge. I'm all in for shopping local at small businesses, but I don't think they have more than one local employee, maybe, and definitely don't sell anything that's made local or reasonably priced. read more

So nice and helpful. Other pharmacies in Ventura and Ojai were so rude to me when I needed a place to fill my medication. The medicine shop employees are kind and very helpful. Everyone there seems to love their job. read more

UNWELCOMING-BAD There is this middle-aged red-headed woman who made my visit heavily uncomfortable as she usually does. She is aggressive and super unwelcoming. She talks badly about her own clients IN FRONT of them. And has shown me and my family horrible service numerous times, even talking bad about us in front of us or as we were leaving. I'd recommend going somewhere else if you want a good, fast experience. To this day I'm curious as to how she has not been fired. People really need to do better. Kindness is a minimal thing to ask, especially if it is your job and you work in a customer service-oriented practice. It would be fair if she had received the same negative behavior but me and my family have always been kind and she has not. I work in a customer service job myself so I know how hard it can be but that gives you no right to be rude to customers and clients unless necessary. read more

We're in the middle of an opioid epidemic -- pharmacies that *choose* not to be qualified to sell over the counter narcan (naloxone), are actively part of the problem. Unfortunately, our loal Medicine shoppe is no exception. Called to ask today and was told that they do not. I'm not asking for something that's outside of the realm of reality. Even rich people like us die from overdoses -- no excuses. Be part of the solution. xx read more

My go to Pharmacy for all my Prescriptions and Over the counter items! Absolutely love the staff!

I entered the pharmacy and stated in full view of the owner that I was there for a Shingrix shot. After filling out the paperwork and paying $199.99, I was instructed to sit in the waiting area. Very few customers entered while I waited for 45 min to receive the shot. Finally, I asked a girl if anyone was aware that I had been waiting for 45 minutes to receive the shot. She said she would remind him. After another 5 minutes, the pharmacist appeared with the injection paraphernalia and apologized for the delay. He asked if it was my 1st Shingrix with seemingly no record that it was my 2nd shot there. My husband and I are 80 years old. For our 1st shot, we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes. This lack of thoughtfulness, especially at our age, is very poor service. I will look into the practicality of doing business with Medical Arts Pharmacy of Ojai as Rexall has just closed shop. My review truly deserves no stars. read more

Today I went to pick up a prescription I'd called in yesterday, and one is called in this morning. Neither were in their system, they had to start over with both. That was frustrating, and time consuming. Staff was yelling consistently yelling for someone to answer line one, that was annoying. And last week I'd purchased a Futoro wrist brace, where the seem had come undone and the metal brace was protruding into the skin of my daughters palm. They would not exchange it, stating they're not responsible for the products they sell! So...buyer BEWARE of any items you may want to purchase here. At least Amazon replaces defective merchandise! read more

Great local pharmacy service that has always been prompt and helpful. The counter staff are always patient and pleasant.

Today, as I was looking for a toothbrush at the Medicine Shoppe, a maskless woman invaded my personal space, so I said (not unkindly), "Shouldn't you be wearing a mask?" To which she replied. "I wear a mask all day, and I'm going on break -- is that OK with you?!" Well, NO. It is NOT OK with me that an employee IN A PHARMACY goes maskless INSIDE her place of work! Needless to say, I will now be taking my business elsewhere. (Two stars given because the rest of staff we're competent and masked.) Still shocked a member of the medical profession would be so careless and rude! read more

I try to shop local and what happens? I get charged $40 more for the same product I could have purchased through Target Pharmacy. When I mentioned this to a man behind the counter he replied with a gruff tone...."Then go get it at Target" adding some lame reason for why the price was so much higher. Wow. Terrible customer service and extremely high prices...no I won't be shopping at the Ojai Medicine Shoppe again. read more

Medicine Shoppe Ojai is my favorite pharmacy in town. We always get such wonderful service and professional advice from the pharmacy staff.

The staff at this pharmacy could not be nicer or more helpful people. A couple of times I've had complications with transferring prescriptions over, getting things changed with my doctor, etc., and they have been most courteous and quick in getting things resolved. They are great with recommendations for natural products, too, and I see the way the staff treats the seniors in our community, and I wish my elderly mom had such nice people where she lives. Every time I go into the medicine shoppe I am greeted warmly, and the techs are extremely helpful and accommodating. The wait is never long to fill a prescription like it is at the larger corporate drug store across town. I prefer the small town feel of medicine shoppe, they are very friendly and have gone out of their way a few times to make sure I get my medicines quick and hassle free. read more

I have been going to this Medicine Shoppe for YEARS! Under new management, the girls are not friendly, some are just rude, and others do not care how long you have been sitting there waiting for your prescription. I talked to the Manager 2 months ago about the wait, and she told me it would not happen again. Today I spent a half hour waiting in a chair, while customers came and went...when I was the only one left sitting there, I finally got up and asked where my medication was, and was told it was "coming up". I asked to speak to the Manager after I received my item, and the girl looked dumb founded, as to who I really wanted to talk to. I told her the "person in charge". Well, after the manager got off the phone, she asked her to talk to me, she blew her off, and walked away. LAST TIME I WILL BE THERE! read more

If I could give the staff no stars I would! Every time I go in there they look at you like your dumb all the girls there have a stick up their ass when you ask them a question or if they mess up my prescriptions. There is one women in particular that is rude never nice she's a older lady with grey longer hair. Everything is way overpriced rather go to ride aid ! Oh and fyi they don't open until 10 if your lucky they will open in time. read more
