Quick purchase is what I like about it as it's convenient if you're looking to make a major shopping spree like if you were to go to one of the big grocery chains this is probably not the best place for that as far as economically. Also, they get a lot of their stuff where it's just about ready to expire or has expired in some cases For like perishable items. The people there are super friendly and it is changed over the years to a cleaner presentation now with the emphasis more on alcohol it appears, but it is very convenient like I mentioned when you don't want to drive to one of the big grocery store chains that's much further and simply get something really quick. You are going to pay a little more premium for it since you're shopping at this place where they do gotta make a little bit of a profit since they're not a huge change store. As an example if you were to go by a box of cereal there where you can get it probably at a grocery chain store for two or three dollars you're gonna pay probably four or five dollars but again very convenient to have it literally in your backyard pretty much. read more

I stopped in here the other day because I was looking for something very specific and the other stores I'd gone to hadn't had it. Liquid food coloring. Everyone else carries the gels or writing pens or concentrated pastes. I just wanted good old fashion liquid dyes. And Ojai Valley Ranch Market had them! They seemed a little pricey, but since I couldn't find them anywhere else and I'd been to 3 or 4 other stores already, I got them here. My Easter eggs turned out really lovely. The man who rang me up at the register was also the new owner. He was very upbeat and enthusiastic and chatty. He asked how I liked the new store and I admitted I hadn't been in the building in a long time. I asked him about specialty cuts of meat and he said he wasn't totally running the meat counter yet - it was still run by the previous owner but once he took that over too he could get me whatever I needed. I'd just have to call or come in to order it. He was a super nice gentleman and really added positively to my visit. I browsed the rest of the store briefly before leaving and I thought the shelves were well organized, the isles were clear and the produce selection looked good and fresh. The owner mentioned to me that he's bringing a new focus to the store on healthy options like gluten free and organic products. I am looking forward to coming back. read more

They have some reasonable prices on some things, and others are overpriced, I wish they would accept EBT because many folks would shop here more.. been coming here for almost 20 years, seen all the changes.. they are nice people working there, the BBQ place inside this market has mostly good food too, if beer is your thing, they have a huge selection, wine and pre mixed cocktails too. A full baking aisle and a selection of unusual spices and products like rose water, tahini, and a plethora of hot sauces, expect to pay a little more for some items, while also finding deals on others. I navigate and buy what is fair and go elsewhere for some things.. like I said, I wish I could make this my market for everything..but the no EBT and slightly higher prices on other items make that prohibitive for folks like me who are on a fixed income and I think there are others who feel as I do. The older lady at the deli is not nice and she's been working there for some time. I went in on July 4th to pick up some ground hamburger meat and unfortunately there was a line (which usually there's not). Finally it was my turn, told her my order and said "Ok step aside" and motioned with her eyes as to where I am supposed to stand to wait for my order to be filled. She just seemed unhappy to be there. So it very unwelcoming when ordering from her at the deli. On another note, the store manager or owner really hike up their prices once they notice certain item sell well. For example, I like to get a certain 12-pack of beer and it used to be $19.99 but now he's selling it for $24.99-$25.99. I can get the same beer at a different location for $18.99. I have been shopping at the store for many years, both before and after the change in ownership and move towards more organic and gluten-free products. I applaud and appreciate those changes. However, the last several times I have been in the store both the owner or manager and most of the employees were either not wearing masks or had them under their noses or on their chin. They also do not enforce the mask requirements with customers. Very pissed about it and will now do my shopping elsewhere. I try to be loyal to local markets but this is just an outrage! I am gluten free for health reasons and this market offers so many different gluten free options. They have so much more gf products than Vons, Walmart, etc. They are slightly overpriced on some of their other products throughout the store. I have been going to this store for years just to pop in for that item one item I need & forgot to complete dinner. But now, my husband and I have started shopping here regularly. The staff are incredibly friendly and always asking if you need help. The beer and wine selections are fantastic and the BBQ is outstanding (though a little pricey). And yes, they do not enforce masks which is a huge bonus In our opinion. My biggest critique is the produce not being the freshest BUT more times than not someone working there will say "I have fresher produce in the back; let me grab it for you." This is not a fancy store like Westridge or a place where you will find 20 varieties of the same product like Vons but it is a very good store with nice staff and great owners. But what really hurt and pissed me off is how my fiance was treated by the owner and his son. For trying to protect himself and the small community he lives in. Don't be detured by the liquor sign -- they have amazing little food finds, tons of organic stuff and such a sweet staff. I'm vegan - they've got a little section dedicated to vegans with a sign. The owner said he is willing to order in any kind of food products you are looking for! So if you are staying in the area long enough take him up on this!! Bonus - he really cares as he overheard my friends and I saying we forgot to get the La Croix and how much we enjoyed it. He didn't skip a beat and asked a worker to grab us a case on the house! This place has really gotten better since the new owners have taken over. Everyone who works here is super friendly and always asks about me and my family. They now carry a lot of Organic and specialty items. They have a great vitamin and herbal supplement section as well. If there is ever something you want them to carry they offer to look into it. Q-Time works the meat counter and offers tasty homemade sausages, tritip, and delicious prepared BBQ items too like sandwiches etc. (I really like the BBQ chicken salad!). The store can be a bit pricey compared to Vons, but that's to be expected when you're shopping at a locally owned small business. Overall this has turned into a great little market! read more

Anyway, with your new health food section giving Rainbow Bridge a run for their money, and with the added selections at a reasonable price, I think the store is on its way to the neighborhood store we've always wanted it to be. I was so surprised when I walked in a couple days ago! What an improvement is all I can really say! They had FRESH produce finally, and every part of the store is used. They have organic & vegan options. I went in and its cheaper than oak view market. I enjoyed walking in to a clean place, with tons of variety, and it was busy! It hasn't been that busy in years! Warning! Do not buy ice-cream here. It's a waste of money. We have always tried to support this market and are very pleased to see the selection improve. However, we are very unhappy about the bad ice-cream they are selling. We usually buy several pints of Hagen Daz each time we go in. Last night was the third time we got ice-cream with a terrible grainy/icy texture due to being partially thawed and refrozen. They have moved the ice-cream to different locations and are no doubt letting it get soft in the process, then sticking it back in the freezer. That is just wrong!!!
